  3. An event could have happened in 1932 that we do not know about. As much as I hate to say it, just because we are directly given a date as simple as that does not officiate our time for this map. This an interesting postcard that I found which was taken/created in 1932. We can see the past Alcatraz, but it doesn't mean that it was open by that time like it's known be in 1934...strange.

I'm not terribly sure whether or not anyone has paid attention to Jimmy Z's Twitter lately, but it seems that he has posted a rather interesting link in his description once again. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slab_(geology)#section_1 Here is a quick copy & paste for those who don't want to click the link: Slab (geometry) Seems rather fishy if you ask me. I went on to conduct a bit of investigating of an slabs within the Alcatraz island, and came up with an image of a morgue there. Originally, this site was the entrance to an 1870s tunnel used by soldiers to cross to the opposite side of the island. In 1910, the Army built a morgue inside, which contained three vaults and an examination table. Deceased army personnel from Alcatraz were buried in the military cemetary on Angel Island. When the burial ground was closed in the early 1900s, funerals were conducted at the National Cemetary in the Presidio of San Francisco. This small structure had a stell door, a grated skylight, and now - a dank and mossy examination table. This morgue had only one documented use - overnight storage of the body of a prisoner who died after the last boat run. No autopsies were performed there. All deceased inmates were brought back to the mainland and released to the San Francisco County Coroner. This area seems like a hightlight for Alcatraz, and may even be noticeable inside the map itself. Could the zombies be coming from the depths of the mortuary, where the dead dwell? Another interesting thing to observe is one aspect that a few people have mentioned, Alcatraz (the show). If you watched this series, then you may know about "the jump". For those who do not know about the jump, here is a very simple message behind it directly from the show itself: Doc had previously mentioned that was of his theories about 3/21/63 was a “quantum thing.” Hauser’s lead nerd herder Warren suggested that time dilation, quantum tunneling or cryogenics were also possibilities. I have explored a few of these theories in previous posts, but will now drill down further. CRYOGENICS I believe it is possible that the 302 who vanished in 1963 were cryogenically frozen in time. They were subjected to myriad chemicals during the process, which made a particular subset of inmates appealing to the Warden: the Korean War veterans. It is my theory that those prisoners were previously exposed to elements that prepared their systems for the cryogenic process. Comic book expert Doc knows that Captain America spent decades frozen in a block of ice, in a state of suspended animation. He was injected with a super soldier serum that replenished itself, a virus-like organism that altered his genetic and biochemical makeup. The 302, cryogenically stuck in time from 1963-2012, were likely injected with a serum designed to reanimate them on very specific dates in the future. And in addition to Dr. K, the Warden must have had an entire team dedicated to unfreezing both himself and his subjects. When guard Guy Hastings remembered his last night on Alcatraz, he described a “fog that took all the stars away.” Vapors released from cryogenic liquids tend to condense the moisture in air, creating a visible FOG. EARTHQUAKES, QUANTUM TUNNELS (WORMHOLES) & TIME DILATION Time dilation is a difference of elapsed time between two events; in this case, between 1963 Alcatraz and 2012 San Francisco. Applying the theory of time dilation, one can travel thousands of light-years and their lifespan will increase. The quantum mechanics of the Casimir Effect can be used to produce a region of space-time, and that negative effect could then be used to stabilize a wormhole to allow faster-than-light travel. On 3/21/63, if Dr. K and the Warden were somehow able to use the Casimir Effect beneath Alcatraz – it may have resulted in a geothermal event, causing tectonic plate slippage. In other words, they created a wormhole that caused an earthquake…their great escape route. My theory is that they built a tunnel deep beneath Alcatraz after the quake and wormhole opened up that space, creating a massive location to store and transport 302 people…unbeknownst to anyone up above. [side note: I believe this tunnel was located much lower than the one under the lighthouse that was constructed during the Civil War.] The tunnel beneath Alcatraz may actually connect 1963 with 2012. On one end of the wormhole, an exit point from 1963. On the other end of the wormhole, a re-entry point to 2012. I am starting to believe that the 302 in 1963 were frozen in time right beneath the very location where they vanished; that the Warden’s hidden cryogenic lair, equipped with reanimation technology, has been dispersing inmates and guards one by one from below the Rock. Along that line of thinking, it is entirely possible that the Warden himself still resides/hides down there. At some point after the 302 vanished in 1963, he had someone seal off the dungeon door where the colloidal silver tracking map was located. But he needs to access it once again; thus, the programmed inmates seeking his 3 keys. If we stop to think about how 302 people vanished without a trace, it sounds logical that they all traveled down the same rabbit hole after being knocked out by chemicals dispersed throughout the island. The same effect could be a participant in Mob of the Dead's storyline. Well, maybe not too much emphasis on the cryogenics, but of a disturbance below Alcatraz; a shift in time as a distortion through space itself. The map may be linked to our current storyline, or it may be in the set of a different dimension/timeline somehow relating back to our major timeline.
  5. I distinctively remember the Shangri-la Easter Egg that I did with a few of my friendos right before Moon came out. We were just on the part of obtaining the Focusing Stone when the round started on 20. Only a few seconds went by and two of our teammates went down. I tried to train and revive them when I fell into those water geysers with a horde waiting to get their turn on it. I recall all three of us screaming at the last guy to grab the stone, only for him to come face to face with a Napalm Zombie upon going up one of the geysers. Yep, never doing that Easter Egg ever again. [i had to redo it a few days later.]
  6. Welcome to the family, friendo! We love having people who lurk around on board; in fact, that's how most of us came to be. I'm sure that I speak on behalf of everyone when I say that we cannot wait to see what you'll contribute. Mob of the Dead is the talk of the town right now and it is rightly so. Over time, I hope you enjoy your stay, and keep slayin' zombies! :)
  7. Weapons should never be used for historical references. That is the law of Zombies. But Shooter has a point, DBZ; Treyarch generally never makes a mistake with landmarks. They know that we critically examine those kind of aspects within Zombies because it helps us determine more than just a timeframe to go by. If you look all throughout Zombies history, you'll see that particular structures and landmarks help us identify the location, date, and whether a particular event in reality occurred yet or not. The difference between the Golden Gate Bridge being completed, in progress, or not built makes a huge impact to us. The paper itself could signify a few things. What we do know now is that we can't go before 1932 whatsoever. Shooter mentioned that it also couldn't be past 1934 due to the prison not being official for criminals outside of military, so we gain another two years. For what we know, it is highly possible that it took just a few more years to even create a plausible scenario with our soon-to-be-favorite mobsters.
  8. I would think that it's only specific for this map. If it shows up on every other map, that's terrific. If not, then oh well. Besides, I'm quite sure that a great majority of us will be playing Mob of the Dead even when there is DLC beyond it. :)
  9. You are highly disappointed so much, that you made a thread about it? Hmm, very interesting. This. I don't allow a perk to determine the outcome of the game. Learn to work without it; you'll see great results.
  10. It's kind of stretch, but the date on the paper may just be something to have us begin with. The paper is behind the plan sheets, so that means - according to how Treyarch maps out their images regarding dates - it could have very well been some more years after that particular date. Like Shooter said, 1934 is another cutoff since Alcatraz was not formally opened up to criminals such as these mobsters. I would half-heartedly assume that it would take a few years to come up with such a plan as deeply detailed as this.
  11. So you are saying for twenty year up until Richtofen's betrayal, that Griffin Station was already established? That wouldn't be possible. Richtofen discovered the cave in 1940, which means that Griffin Station had not been built yet. The only things noticeable at the time were the cave that could somehow retain oxygen and the MPD. The energy sources did not require electricity for this device. Therefore, we are to believe that it is not human-made but presumably created by the Vril-ya or "alien" species. With this being said, it's not possible to have Griffin Station created prior to finding Moon in 1940. Zombie tests did not happen - at least with Group 935 - before the mid 1930's. Perhaps there could have been other zombie tests going on beforehand by other groups, but this is our evidence as to where zombies ultimately began. And I'm fairly certain that Richtofen (or anyone working in Griffin Station) was capable of using the mainframe. ;)
  12. On topic: Just as said before, the planes would not match. Here, we have a makeshift plane that is thoroughly created from spare materials and pretty basic appliances. The crashed plane found in Nacht der Untoten is...well, more refined than the one we will build in Mob of the Dead. It's a good perspective, though - I'm glad you made some form of connection with it. :)

The moment you showed me the Medicine Man symbol and how it was linked to the Afterlife symbol, I too went: This provides a great deal of explanation to the backstory and where certain elements originated from. I love it. :)
  14. It is very possible that Samantha could be within the Aether at this point. The thing that mainly confuses us is the red eyes on the zombies that we've never encountered before. The Max Ammo quote is definitely her quote, but it may just as well be a placeholder. After all, Treyarch has been quite infamous for including objects in their trailers which did not appear in the final product. The bear itself is very peculiar; from the one image of Cell 14D, it looks very...different compared to all the other teddy bears that we've come across. Perhaps it's because it isn't as destroyed or stained with blood. If we are to assume that Samantha is in control, then these bears would be linked to her. But the appearance of these teddy bears do not match. Perhaps Mob of the Dead would be occurring at the beginning of her control? The music sounds more like Amy Lee from Evanescence. This has been brought up countless times, but it just seems to be the case. I wouldn't exactly use a singer to represent particular characters. I know that happens to be a current trend, and it is continuously expanding with Clark on board. We'll just have to see on that one.
  15. There is way more in store than meets the eye. Just because they introduced new things right off the bat doesn't mean anything. It has taken us only a day and yet we'e dissected the trailer to the point where we are already hypothesizing the deeper details behind it all in regards to the storyline. If anything, the trailer made me more pumped to play it so I can test all the new things out. Think of it like telling a little kid that you will give them some candy if they are good the whole day. No matter what happens throughout that day, the little kid will still be as satisfied when they eat the candy as they were when they found out that they can earn it.
  16. Also bear in mind that there seems to be multiple "endings" to this map. Some have even gone off and said that once you reach the Golden Gate Bridge - or where the man-made plan will take you - the final destination would be a reverse No Man's Land where only death is the way out. There seems to be a few goals in order to chronologically finish the map in terms of story: [*:13f61gk2] Everyone dies; the standard way of finishing the game. [*:13f61gk2] Completing the core Side Quest for the storyline. Going in Purgatory/Afterlife while finding these "clues" (as the devs called them) doesn't necessarily seem like any typical Side Quest. [*:13f61gk2] Escape via plane to an unknown location. PINNAZ had pointed out earlier that there seems to be rampway on top of the prison's roof facing the bridge(?). [*:13f61gk2] Electric chairs/forceful death?
  17. I will fix that accordingly. I don't know what made me thing "Glunderbat". It appears to be something that can be obtained, possibly a different location to hold items instead of having them display on the bottom screen. Good eye!

  20. Hello friendos! As you know, the most recent preview trailer of Mob of the Dead was released exclusively after the Call of Duty Championships on the Xbox 360. For those who have not witnessed/seen the trailer, check out GRILL's thread containing the video here: viewtopic.php?f=149&t=30523 In all this haze and excitement, we have seen many, many new and interesting details that are brand spanking new! If you aren't on the edge of your seat, then you are on the edge of bullsh-t. Let us begin our dissection into what we can find within the trailer! The harbor/dock. This means we'll be going far along the island, and not just the courtyard. This seems like a dangerous area to stay in, but it may hold some kind of safe zone momentarily, or even contain a part for a buildable/important item. First image in, and it already feels creepy. The power room? There are no switches, but this seems like a potential area. In fact, it seems like a nice place to train a bit. There's a ton of space going on here, with wires stretching across the floor. It wouldn't be too surprising if this were somehow to main power room, or the link between multiple(?) power switches. A nice image of what seems to be the main lower level of the prison. Here, we see a newly-made HUD, as well as the eye symbol being some kind of stacked objective (meaning we can collect the symbols or partake in events). There is a trap to the left side. There are the characters' names on the side of our points. For what reason, I do not know. What you may have already noticed is that the whole feel has been altered with this POV (point of view). There's a little more to this new interface than meets the eye; more story-based content? The Tommy Gun is now official! While this image may not show it, the Nuke power drop is actually gravitating towards us as if we hold some kind of magnetic property (see trailer). A new persistent upgrade? Also, the top-left corner seems to be where our items that are able to be picked up will display from now on. A lift is available, possibly from the prison itself to the outside harbor/dock. I think of it like the object from Shi No Numa. One thing you may have noticed is the eye symbol on the left side. We understand that this symbol has appeared throughout the map; on surfaces, as floating icons, and more places than we can count. We'll be seeing this icon more than we thought. The steps to escaping from Alcatraz. I have a feeling that this is not going to be as easy as it is written. These may very well hold some kind of key to determining what the Easter Egg will be for this map. The eye symbol makes a return with someone saying that they can't get the symbol out of their head. This will allude to the new Purgatory/Afterlife mode. We will heavily need that mode in order to solve the new Side Quest. Escape Plan concept design. We are going to create some form of plane to escape. A very eerie image of four electric chairs with the sign "No One Escapes Alive". Could this be our way to "end" the game? A good look at our new crew. From what the devs had said, we aren't actors playing as the mob guys; we are the mob guys playing as other mob guys. Kind of a confusing way to state it, really. Something interesting to look at: We see the Electric Cherry bottle, the Tommy Gun, and the Blundergat (new Wonder Weapon). One of our playable characters holding the Ak-47. Yes, you read right - we'll have the Ak-47 in Zombies now. Somebody seems to have the new perk, Electric Cherry. There is also a trap closeby. The Blundergat (Pack-a-Punched) in action against the zombie boss. The new zombie boss. It has its own level, and is quite hard to take down. From what is gathered, it can break perk machines and Mystery Boxes. You may need heavy artillery for this zombie. The new Hellhound of some sort. Yes folks, it is lodged into the wall. Suppose that it has come out of a portal, only to feast on the zombies (see trailer for this). You can shoot it, but it won't do anything to you from what we've seen. Part of the Side Quest? The new mode, Purgatory a.k.a. Afterlife. It seems like Who's Who, but even trippier. You roam around with no weapon but your hands. There are various glowing areas that can be interacted with, including those weird eye symbols all over the map. The devs claim that we will need this mode to solve certain clues for the Side Quest. You can attack zombies by shooting lightning bolts at them. Could it really be "Him"...? [Credit to FatedTitan for this hypothesis] Note the player has the eye symbol over him. Something about him (or the perk machine) needs to be interacted with in this mode. There are different areas in which can only be accessible in Purgatory mode. From where, there is an electric switch that can be shot at and turned on...interesting! The acidic trap, as mentioned prior to this recent trailer. It seems to do its job very quickly, decimating any zombies who hold victim in the surrounding area. A new trap has been introduced - the Fan Trap! It remind me of a very deadly version of the Flogger from Shi No Numa...sliced zombie, anyone? A very intricate model of our new Wonder Weapon, the Blundergat. The Blundergat in action looks very promising. It is a combination of a gatling gun with a shotgun, with the Civil War feel to it. How to Pack-a-Punched Blundergat looks. The area is dark, so we don't exactly get the greatest detail with this image. But notice the green flowing through it. What happens when you shoot the Pack-a-Punched Blundergat into a zombie? Think Scavenger, friendos. In an acidic form. The new boss attacking Perk Machines. From the trailer, we are also told that it can ravage Mystery Boxes. Think of it as our favorite pal, George Romero but slightly easier to kill. The new perk, Electric Cherry. It is said to deliver shockwaves to surrounding zombies as to stun them. Sounds familiar? An effect from reloading while having the Electric Cherry perk. It resembles PhD Flopper, but only with the simple action of reloading your gun. Awesome! The zombie shield has made its official return! The design interface is a bit different, but looks to be consisted of our usual two parts - the dolly, and a handle. Any further screenshots and images will soon be updated into this.

  22. Purgatory is a new "mode"; as the trailer showed (which will show up soon in this forum), it's basically like Who's Who. There are certain "hardpoints" where you can go to. You still stay within the same map, from what is seen.
  23. I can see it being a real life-saver in critical moments. I would assume it does the same effects as the Galvaknuckles, but stuns them momentarily for a chance to escape/evade the zombies. I'll be doing a ton of reloading, then. :lol:

"With plans to break out of Alcatraz foiled by the rise of the undead, the quartet of inmates will have to lean on their mob-derived skills with firearms, blunt instruments and improvised weaponry as they battle the zombies infesting and overrunning the island.” Mob of the Dead will introduce a new “Purgatory” feature that “sends players into the afterlife” if they become a victim of the Zombies." I would assume that means death instead of a down. Surely, there will be interesting things to observe in Purgatory, but I don't think that you'd have to necessarily find anything. Then again, this may just be another 4-person Easter Egg, and the sacrifice might as well be included in it. :P
  25. Now the question becomes what does that tower have to do with anything? It's not like a satellite building or pylon, but just a regular guard/water structure. The eyes on it may actually be reference points as to a particular location that we need to go, much similar to the Chinese character circles in Die Rise.
