Anonymous threatens Activision as result of reveal trailers
WhosOnFirst replied to MixMasterNut's topic in General Discussion
Does anyone find it ironic that the guy from Prison PLanet tv, is able to shout about his view of the world as oppressed, because he is shielded by laws such as freedom of speech? I was just thinking to myself that if he was held accountable to the same levels of journalistic integrity that other more legitimate news channels are, he might not have enough content left to make a show from. Its kind of like watching a photo negative of Bill O Reilly on Fox news. I think they call it a news show? I guess the beast that is ignorance does not choose sides. -
Necro Bump FTW... so as this thread is still active, and I did not post what I was thinking at the time; I would like to take the opportunity. So everyone focused on whether Woods was dead or alive? My question is.. Was Woods even there? It will be interesting to see if Trey even acknowledge the incident happened from Woods point of view.

Anonymous threatens Activision as result of reveal trailers
WhosOnFirst replied to MixMasterNut's topic in General Discussion
How Anonymous are Anonymous? Or to word it another way, Would it be useful to a goverment or ruling system/ structure to have an army of hackers and activists that have no leadership to maintain a status quo. Given what we know about mob structers and herd thinking, how easy would it be to manipulate those who think they are fighting the good fight? -
Where to next, and how will the story continue?
WhosOnFirst replied to bad karma's topic in Story Discussion
I am hoping for a fresh start. A rich new universe that is not hindered by previous storylines. Say first map starts in an undeground military bunker that has been abondened and survivers with differant stories find their way to after an appocalyptic event. New maps can then branch out multiple directions from there. Quick thoughts.. 1. DLC could expand on first map, ie opening up previosly unreachable areas of the underground complex map. Might alienate players who dont own all DLC, but its an idea. 2. Flashback maps, differants maps that show how each character got to where they are, good way to change things up and introduce fresh stories and characters. 3. Related to 1, you could have an EE that runs through all the maps. Requires all maps to obtain, can only be fully achieved on final DLC and runs a little deeper than collecting shiny things. Treyarch really could sell both MP DLC and standalone Zombie DLC, I understand that it would be a big risk. I would imagine there are those who do not want to give the community an opportunity to segregate itself. I dont have the stats to actually make an informed opinion, just going off the gut here. -
If I had to guess I would be looking at heavy artillery, due to the elevation of the possible barrel; the support grid on the side and direction of triangulation in the support structure. Support structure on the front point appears to be hinged, indicating change of elevations are possible (by design). Support structure itself indicates that the structure either has length or mass beyond the norm (or that which can support itself). Lol could be a vacuum clearner for all I know, just thought I would throw my two penny in; I want them back at the end though. :D

Wonder Attachment Machine (WAM)

This thread smells. of something awesome With regards your Ytube problem remove the initial link web address and use the unique video identification in the web address. Sometimes depending on how you got to the video, the address in your browser can be a little confusing. So if you click on the share video button below the video you would like to imbed; you should be able to clearly see the part of the address that identifies the video. An example would be http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... ailpage&v=wV4OZqSdP1U#t=7s The orange text part of the address should be the identifier for that video. The blue coloured part of the address I believe denotes the time frame of the video where you would like it to start from. I am not exactly web savvy so you might need to play around a bit and make your own observations. I would love to make a greater responce to your post, but its quite late hear right now and I also need to reply to someone else first. Looks great at first sight though, I am sure people will have made some input on these ideas before I get back. -
Thanks for the post OP. A really nice chance to see inside a studio and how much effort goes into doing what they do.

So I wanted to reply to this topic for a while, but I was not sure that I could do so in a posative light; its easy to come across as hyper critical. Here is what I thought would be the best way. A series of questions. 1. What amount of time would it cost in man hours to implement your ideas in its most basic form. 2. What effect would it have on gameplay. 3. What are the repurcussions of implementing your idea into the game on other areas of design? Such as, memory, weapon balancing, level design. 4. Could the man hours spent implementing this idea be better used to make other changes to game mechanics, design? 5. Taking into account the average round total of the average player, do you think that such a large number of weapons choices are needed? 6. How do you feel the mystery box as a game mechanic adds to the existing structure of the game? 7. At what number do the availible weapons reach a point of saturation that no individual qualities can be attributed to them? 8. What do you personaly feel the most important core mechanic/ attribute of gameplay is to the zombie mode? 9. Do you think that the introduction of new weapons with each map pack is endearing to fans of the series? So, I personaly like your idea, however I feel it would perhaps be better implemented in a campaing game type. This would give players an opportunity to tune weapons over a greater period of time, making a long term investment in choice and style of gameplay. I think Treyarch have played with some of the ideas you have presented here such as combining the Krauss Defib and Bowie to alter the attributes of those weopons when used together.

Hello Alpha, long time no speak. I wont disagree with you on your line of interest, I quite often have this thought (holographic universe) but then I say to myself. If a door to another reality were to open as I were to wake from a dream, if I walked through that door, how would anyone upon the other side be able to assure me that theirs was the true ultimate reality. I then came to the conclusion that while one may long for an ultimate truth, that which we do in the here and now; is far more important. On the flip side of that statement, Brahmin have been known to say that Krushna sleeps an age and then wakes to make anew... or is it the other way around. I can never remember

So I think it might be genuine, though it was definately not included in the PC DLC files. Sorry I should say I dont believe this file was included in the PC DLC files; I did spend a few days going through them all at one time. The reason I think it might be genuine is a Treyarch sound designer had a blog up where they posted a few jingles. http://briantuey.blogspot.co.uk/ Have a look through there, the jingle sounded familuar so I guess I may have heard it there before. Cant be sure though :D

Thundergun vapourizes zombies?
WhosOnFirst replied to Rissole25's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Your initial thought was correct, it is due to graphical limitations. Lots of objects flying through the air at the same time require many real time calculations. Each body (rag doll) has to be calculated independantly. All the while these calcs are running they are using precious resources required for stability (smooth running) of the application. It really is amazing that a phone can run this sort of intensive program in the first place. The reason they would have chosen the vaporise effect is that customers would probably complain if they just fell to the floor. It is a WW after all. Essentialy they try to remain as true to the original as they can within the limitations that the system imposes on them. -
2 ZOMBIES EASTER EGGS IN MW3
WhosOnFirst replied to DtN m0n3ysh0t's topic in General Zombies Discussion
the translation is 'LAUGHABLE MISTAKE' With respect I would like to disagree, I am aware that google translate when going from Latin to English does offer the translation "laughable Mistake". However I am also aware the base of my language "English" is built upon many Latin words, such as Ignorant and Jubilations. Taking this into account I translated from English to Latin instead and then looked at the verbs; which I will list below. jubilation = TRIUMPHUS, TRIUMPUS, GUADIUM rejoice = JUBILO, PRAEGAUDEO, PERGAUDEO, BENIGNOR unknown = IGNOTUM, IGNARUS, IGNOTUS, IGNORATUS If you were to do the same for either of the words "Laughable" or "Mistake" you would see none of the correlations that I have pointed to above. Google translate is a fantastic tool, but its worth checking both ways, espescialy as the Latin translator is in Alpha testing. Now on top of that, if you take into account that the note found on "Mission" says something along the lines of "Ignorance is not bliss"; I feel that there is a strong enough arguemant for stating "IW and TreyArch do referance each others work". It is worth looking at the tranlated verbs for yourself as I have only listed a few. -
2 ZOMBIES EASTER EGGS IN MW3
WhosOnFirst replied to DtN m0n3ysh0t's topic in General Zombies Discussion
So I have not seen this posted anywhere yet, and to be honest I am surprised that no one has noticed. IW left a note on Mission found in front of the Church at the top of the map. It would seem it referances the note from Zombies "IGNOMO JUBILUS", if your not sure of the translation; I believe it might mean "Ignorant Rejoice". The only reason I have posted this, is because I believe the focus of discussion has become so polarised that we dont really get to appreciate there are alllways at least two sides to an arguemant. I try to stay in the middle so I can best appreciate both parties observances and points so that I may draw my own conclusion. Anyway, I hope this goes someway to justifying the arguemant that both games on occasion referance each others work and designs. -
2 ZOMBIES EASTER EGGS IN MW3
WhosOnFirst replied to DtN m0n3ysh0t's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Its only not positive if you presume it means what you think it does, I know right; what else could it mean? The point being, the position you choose to observe from effects the outcome of what you eventualy see. Meh, it probably does mean what you think it means, I know right  -
2 ZOMBIES EASTER EGGS IN MW3
WhosOnFirst replied to DtN m0n3ysh0t's topic in General Zombies Discussion
BBD has pretty much summed how I feel about COD. The only reason I stopped playing and searching for eggs, was that I felt I should search for my own truths and hold them dearer to myself than the truths of another man. Which in the end is all you can do. R Kiplings books are insightful and fantastic reading. Kim and the Jungle book can both be obtained as free digital downloads. -
2 ZOMBIES EASTER EGGS IN MW3
WhosOnFirst replied to DtN m0n3ysh0t's topic in General Zombies Discussion
There is a lot going on in MW3, some of which directly referances what Treyarch have alluded to within Zombies. I think the better question for people to pursue is "what exactly are Treyarch referancing constantly?" -
Nope, I mean who are we to question an army of PR Ninjas. They are probably just testing the waters and gaining some data they can use to A) Justify their jobs and salarys Use data to further stereotyping of demographics...refers back to A. C) In honesty I couldnt think of any other reason they would dump a leak 8 months early, at least not one that would conform to logic and reason. D) It might have been a genuine slip up, I dont think it was though.

Call of the Dead Ship in Shi No Numa loading screen?
WhosOnFirst replied to BlindBusDrivr's topic in Shi No Numa
Isnt that where the crane is on the back of central hut. Funny you mention it now, I remember a sound file for a crane in the PC files, it was one of the files that would not play. Still it could have been a sound file for a bird, are they both spelt the same way? -
Oh lord I did laugh though, just at the three kings and white men cant jump referance. So AussieNitro, you have put a lot of work into your idea; I am not so sure that you have looked at your idea in the same way a studio design team would. Each new weapon would need a texture and model created for it. Possibly additional character lines for at least a percent of the guns. Given the math thats allready a lot of work for something that would essentially be a visual addition to the game. The reason it would be nothing more than visual is that all those guns would likely act in the same manner, due to balance and level design; it would be a knightmare otherwise. The PaP mechanic adds character to the weapons in terms of audio and behaviour, as it would be improbable if not immpossible for TreyArc to keep those attributes for say even 50+ weapons it starts to make the pleasure of PaPing a weapon redundant. Remember the first time you PaPed an MG42, Oh lord...Pew pew pew. Would that feeling still remain with so many weapons that could not be defined in terms of character. I probably have not made my case here very well, I like your idea. I do think it need to be slimmed down and defined to stand a chance of being looked at seriously by TreyArch. Only because as it stands now it would seem to be a huge amount of work for a studio for very little reward in terms of being inovitive to gameplay due to the issues I mentioned earlier. I should probably read this back to myself but IMA just gona hit the post but...

NEW Kino der Toten TRAILER | NEVER SEEN BEFORE
WhosOnFirst replied to Hydrorez's topic in Kino Der Toten
Pretty good looking trailer, hopefully they will throw it up on CODHQ; shame if they didnt as someone obviously put a lot of work into that. On the other hand people tend to forget about trailers rather quickly once a new map lands most people wont go back and watch it again. Shame when they put so much effort into these things. I mean, has anyone here gone back and watched the trailers and other footage for Moon since they got the new map? -
Things to look for in Der Riese... [UPDATED]
WhosOnFirst replied to strange-bow7's topic in Der Riese
@Strange Bow, I cannot comment on anything with regards the last picture showing, Carpenter and the 935 Manual. Mainly because anything I could say would just be a broad sweeping statement. One thing I would suggest to anyone looking at trying to "solve the riddles of Der Riese", is to go back and look at all the intel that Treyarch released at the time. I remember that some of the intel had mistakes, such as "it cost 1500 points to link a teleporter". Maybe if we follow your lead and dont presume that Treyarch are so liable to make mistakes we might find something new? @ZombicidalManiac. Yeh I remeber that, if you backed up to the flytrap window, the zombies would just stop and stare for a second as though you were not there. I thought at the time it may have been to do with the engine concealing a structure or something. As in the video Treyarch released at the time the wall for Z-A next to the flytrap can be clearly seen as destroyed.
