Not trying to pour gas on a fire or anything lol.... BUT... People get popped with barrets all the damn time in Afghanistan. And they absolutely take 1-5 people out with a predator all the time. Seriously, if you could pick some dudes off from a km away with a barret would you say nah, the ammo is too expensive, let's go get closer? Hell no! You would smoke the dudes and get on with your life. And what's cheaper/more effective for taking out a couple of haji terrorists on a remote mountain 60km away from the nearest fire base.... find some choppers that aren't being used, fuel them up, plan the op and any contingencies, find a platoon that's not doing anything, get them on the choppers, fly to said remote mountain, drop them a few km away, fly away and wait in a holding pattern somewhere while the platoon humps it's way to the position and takes out a couple dudes OR just blast the motherfuckers with the drone you found them with? If you tried to use a 203 the way it's used by n00b t00bing campers, you would kill yourself very quickly. The rounds arm themselves by a how many rotations they have completed which ends up being about 30m. If I remember correctly (and I'm sure somebody will google it and prove me wrong lol), danger close for a 203 is about 100m. The round seems to arm at about 5m in the game, which is insane. You would absolutely be dead as a doornail if one of those things went of 5m away from you. We always used the 203 as some kind of overwatch or support by fire or against vehicles. As for camping, it is absolutely unrealistic. Under no circumstances would you be by yourself, hiding in a little corner waiting for people to randomly run by. Think about the map derail for a minute... lets say you were irl trying to defend charlie. If you were hiding in a corner under the stairs in the building behind C and an enemy ran past you and, YOUR POSITION HAS ALREADY BEEN OVERRAN. You are already fucked. You will be going home in a body bag. Realistically, if the enemy got past Bravo your element would be considered overran and you would all fall back. Realistically, you would and could keep them all the way out to alpha. It's only about 300m from C to A in derail. ALL THIS ASIDE, IT IS A VIDEO GAME. Of course it's totally unrealistic. There isn't on single realistic thing in the game. YOU MAGICALLY COME BACK TO LIFE AFTER BEING KILLED LOL. N00b t00bing campers are annoying not because they are unrealistic, but because it takes absolutely no skill whatsoever. It's irritating to play a game of skill and lose to someone of absolutely no skill, just dumb luck. Just sitting there until somebody eventually happens to run by on their way to actually do something. Sorry for the long post lol

damn damn DAMN D A M N! Nazi... MKULTRA... briefcase given to carbon... could this be leading to zombie confirmation??? Also, very off topic, but rutger, your avatar looks like a zombie version of the dude from no country for old men lol

Man... the sniper rifle thing really kills me! I understand it's a video game and things need to be balanced but come on! The barret would leave a softball size hole in you! I've hit people 4 or 5 times from about 50 meters with that thing and they still didn't go down! What the fuck!?

Rangers! There's thousands of them lol As far as the Marines go, which Marines? The cooks and truck drivers would probably not last very long against a Ranger battalion. Same goes for the regular Marines as they are simply infantry.

Just happened to me last night... Playing on Karachi and in the alley between Charlie and Bravo there was a dude floating about 5' off the ground with his arms stretched out like jesus lol. Actually, glancing up as I write this, the floating dude was in the same position as myerstep's avatar lol. Also, on high rounds on Der Riese I've seen max ammo from dogs spawn outside the map... which really really really sucks lol

The MK designation means it was run by the technical services division, NOT Mind Kontrol.

So I've been brute forcing the rar file for several hours and have gotten through every single combination of 4 characters (a-z, A-Z, 1-0) and nothing yet. I'll let it run overnight and see what it comes up with...

UAV - Definitely the most powerful killstreak in the game. If I know where everybody is spawning and where they're headed to, I can easily get 10 or 15 kills as a direct result. Counter UAV - If your not showing up as a little blip on a detailed map, it makes it a lot harder for the enemy get to you. This is going to result in more kills than a pavelow. These two help everybody on your team. I usually play domination, so if everybody on my team dies one less time and gets one more kill, that can easily be the difference between taking bravo or NOT taking bravo which in turn can mean the difference between getting spawn trapped or spawn trapping the other team. Emergency Airdrop - I used to really like this because it helped everybody on the team out, but lately I've noticed when I put one down, MY ENTIRE TEAM STOPS WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND RUNS TO THE DROP! WTF LOL!? So I'm thinking of switching to chopper gunner. Plus, I like to keep a lot of constant pressure on the other team and airdop bullshit just seems to break my momentum.

OH COME ON! Why all the commando hate!? All I ever heard were complaints about snipers and campers in W@W and, well, commando + lightweight + marathon + tactical knife is simply the counter to camping/sniping. Would everybody feel better about it if there were a way to counter the Stabby McStabbingtons? In my opinion, there's nothing terribly wrong with the perks in MW2. The real problem is the spawn system, map layout, overpowered killstreaks, and glitches. The perks just exacerbate these fundamental issues and it's an easy/visible thing to blame. Also, if your tired of getting stabbed, stop camping in the same spot over and over again =p

FOUND IT! http://codzombies.forum0.net/graveyard- ... st+zombies Here's the quote... and any of you new people should go read the whole thread lol COMPLETEWASUK wrote: Homicidal_llama2 wrote: Me and my best friend thought the same thing to metrocedes, after Der Riese Verruckt would be eaaasy. How wrong we were, only got to 19. You really can't hold the zombies off even with a Ray Gun & MG42 with all the perks. No wonder they failed to contain the asylum. Lol. "We failed to contain the asylum, and the better half of continetal Europe. Speedy SOBs."

It really is the superior game and it sucks that it doesn't get the attention it still deserves. As soon as I picked up my controller to play MW2 I instantly knew I was gonna hate it. I think the problem is that there is only so much you can do with WWII. Pound for pound, W@W is a better game than MW2, period, end of report. BUT, controlling an AC130 is a ton of fun. Pwning the shit out of dozens of Russian troops in a Virginia suburb with a predator missile is a ton of fun. Thermal scopes, barrett .50cal sniper rifles, fighting in the White House, sneaking up on people and stabbing them in the neck is just plain fun. WWII was gritty, dirty, grey, low tech and depressing (I personally like that better, but I can understand why most people don't). And WWII has been done over, and over, and over, and over again. W@W was the shiznit, but I'm so ready to leave WWII behind, and I think Treyarch obviously feels the same way. And I think this is why COD7 will be cold war covert ops... it's the best of both worlds - small, special ops teams facing overwhelming odds and doing cool shit, but still historical and gritty. Just my $.02

Speaking of knifing... I've been considering the same strategy, but swapping out marathon pro for sleight of hand pro (faster aiming) and the tactical knife for an AA12 or M1404 shotgun instead of stabbing. With sleight of hand pro + lightweight pro your aiming should be really really really fast. Anybody try this?
-
LMAO! I'm the commando knifing d-bag =p

Indeed... Verruckt is insanely difficult! I gotta ask though, how are you all getting to rounds 40-50!?!? We can't get past 22! And I'd like to think we're pretty good (33 on NDU, 35 on SNN and 38 on DR) Also, this reminds me of the speedy S.O.B. thread on the old forum lol.

YES!!! WAR FTW! The mw2 killstreaks are out of control... you can get spawn trapped quite easily with a harrier and a sentry gun. Game design FAIL.

W@W 65 MW2 70 Don't see the point in prestige lol =p

I really don't understand why Infinity Ward gets so much love from the gaming community. Don't get me wrong, MW2 is a fun game and I play it often, but my god is it half baked! Technical glitches galore, tons of maps that are nearly identical, worlds shortest single player mode, half assed spec ops mode, extremely unbalanced multiplayer.... and now the map packs for ps3 delay AND 3 maps for $15! That's just a d*ck move no matter how you cut it. And yet, MW2 did $1bil, gets rave reviews and infinite love from gamers everywhere. World at War was a superior game in almost every measurable way and yet Treyarch is the read headed step child, the filler between IW releases, who seems to get kicked by every gamer at every turn. What is going on here??? I mean, sure JD is the WORST CM IN THE HISTORY OF VIDEO GAMES... but at least the d*mn game is good, right?

I never understood the point of prestige.... I might be tempted if I got something more than create a class slots and some half assed 20x20px gifs. I mean, prestige is A LOT OF WORK. Like, a second 40hr a week job. And you get essentially nothing beyond bragging rights. Actually, now that I think about it, the entire Call of Duty ranking system is simply a function of time played and not skill, which in and of itself is kind of lame. They should switch to some kind of system where rank is based on challenges completed or something. That having been said, I obviously didn't prestige lol

"GKNOVA6" is a CIA cryptonym. The prefix "GK" would refer to a geographic place (eg. "GT" was Soviet Union) or a department within the CIA that was running the particular op ("MK" (as in MKULTRA) refers to the technical services division). The next part of the cryptonym is usually just a random word... Nova, Ultra, Lincolon, Often, Delta, Chaos, Pine etc. etc. etc. When the cryptonym was followed by a number ("6" in this case), it usually refered to a specific person within that group or op. I can't find any mentions of the prefix GK actually meaning anything, so it's probably made up. Same with NOVA. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo........ GK = geographic place or department (perhaps black ops department?) NOVA = Specific operation 6 = Specific person involved in the op (maybe the chief protagonist or antagonist?) What I don't get is why the number station would broadcast ONLY a specific person? Any thoughts?
-
Ok, yeah, definitely yankee stadium lol
-
Stupid question: Is there a reason we think the baseball stadium is Yankee Stadium?
-
Don't know what WPC is, I come here and Google news RSS for all my COD news lol. Back in high school we used to listen to number stations on a friends moms old shortwave radio. I swear I've heard the identifier from the gknova6 site before, but it seems like it could a pretty common lil jingle so idk. Here's what's confusing... Treyarch has said they will stick to historical stuff (right? or am I just making that up in my head?) but then we have all this baseball/yankee stadium/nuke references.... what happened in the cold war involving yankee stadium and nukes???
-
1. The new site looks great! Kudos to whoever designed and implemented it! =) 2. This is obviously a CIA number station. Number stations were used in the cold war to broadcast instructions to people in the field. The transmission says NOVASIX. This would mean something to the intended person(s) and nobody else. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_station 3. If you go to youtube and search for numbers station, you will hear a lot of similar broadcasts. 4. The tones at the beginning of the transmission are station identifiers (so you know your listening to the right thing)
