Zombies do spawn out of the ground though.

I posted this on another thread last week, but haven't had time to test it again since then. Start a public match with your 1 or 2 friends, ready up before anyone else joins. It worked for me and 2 other friends last week.

I've been stalking the forum for a while now and finally decided to join. I started playing Zombies when I discovered it after beating the campaign in CoD WaW and couldn't believe how great it was. My alltime favorite maps are Verruct and Nacht. I usually play solo or with friends who want to just shoot zombies so wasn't able to get fully involved in the ee's on Black ops (although I would like to). I picked up the hardened editions of both Black ops 1&2 at release so I could play more Zombies maps! I am enjoying the new Black Ops 2 survival maps as they remind me of the simpler WaW maps. Tranzit is a welcome addition as well for when I feel like doing more in Zombies. I look forward to many more experiences in CoD Zombies.

I was playing with 2 friends earlier in public and we all readied up before another player was found and the game started, so maybe this is the answer. We only played one game, so maybe it was a fluke. I'll try it again the next time I'm online.
