I'm with Carbon, that's usually the best way to go in most of the zombie maps.
-
Didn't someone make a post about finding an 8 sided star, like the one in the pic? Good find though OP
-
Both strategies have their uses, but sometimes it's best to do both. I.E.: In Call of the Dead, me and a friend of mine would usually start our rounds out (after about round 5 or so) on the top of the boat, near the power room, and hold out as long as we can. When shit got too heavy, we'd either hit the zipline and head for Revive Island or drop down to the Flopper and head for the Lighthouse. The best "strategies" really differ depending on the map you're playing on. Even on Ascension, me and my friends would ALWAYS hold out by either the PhD Flopper or Speed Cola (depending on how many of us there are) with a lander right there, so if things got heavy, we could make an escape and start running to a different area.

Well, I may have said something like this before, but what if we're getting a 2 for 1 zombie effect going on here? I've made mention before, but what if, ala Dead Rising, the Eclipse kinda buffers the zombies, in the same way George did on CotD? Like when it gets dark out, zombies start running a bit faster and in bigger packs or something like that?
-
Actually, you can find the achievements list on the Call of Duty website now, in the latest section of Intel.
-
Haha, actually that'd be a straight take from Duke Nukem if I'm not mistaken. So imagine this, what if there was a new perk that, ala the HoloDuke from Duke Nukem, that turns the real you invisible for like..30 seconds, and leaves a "Holo" version of your character that starts attacking the zombies, just as a distraction? That'd be kinda killer

I have a feeling this Focus Stone is going to be a huge part of this story, and here's why: Remember Richtofan's Kino transmission? When you're loading the level? If memory serves, he mentions something about the MDT Overloading or something, which caused the time travel (It may not have been form Kino, correct me if I'm wrong). Maybe he needs this Focus Stone to Focus his time traveling device, and the Golden Rod from CotD is going to help us find this Focus Stone, eh?
-
lol, nice theory graymonkey, but the fact that the achievement's called "A Small Consolation", and the new crazy looking gun in the trailer shrinks zombies, then the JGB (which is easier to call it) is the new Wonder Weapon for sure.
-
I don't see how the Gersch quote could be a 4th wall one, it doesn't feel like one of Dempsy's 4th wall quotes...
-
I like the idea of the boss zombie, maybe he's the product of all the rage and aggression that Samantha's feeling since the crew keeps seeming to outwit her? Something along that line anyway.

Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Jesus Jason, if you wanna talk closed minded YOU scream closed minded right now. 1) Again, it wouldn't hurt to get a pic would it? Cause i glanced by the mag while playing Five and I obviously can't see under it since i'm on the 360 2) The Ray Gun is a Wonder Weapon? And a Death Machine all of a sudden? I know the Ray Gun's there, I mentioned that, and where are the blueprints for the Thunder Gun? I have yet to see those... 3) Dempsy doesn't share his character model with Roebuck, he does share the same character model as someone else form W@W, so we're both kinda right on this one. I forget the character's name, but he's the orange haired character you can save in place of Roebuck at the end of the American Campaign in [email protected] I can't remember his name... 4) Didn't I already mention that I acknowledged the outbreak was happening in more parts of the world than just Europe? The Der Riese radio where Maxis is reading a note off to Sophia and mentions "Our American operatives" should have already confirmed this. 5) There's TONS of reused textures form other zombie maps on Five. You can clearly see the chalk boards are straight out of Der Riese, the human diagrams in the autopsy room are straight from Der Riese, the note under the stairs in Kino is sitting by the power switch in Five, so it wouldn't be terribly uncommon for those portraits to simply be reused textures. I mean, feel free to think too much into it, but we all know what happened last time we did that..stupid Gersch -____-...(i made a funny ) -
Actually, this kinda sounds plausible, hear me out. Anybody ever play Dead Rising? Remember when the clock strikes like, 7:00 at night or something like that, the zombies all get more aggressive? Maybe they're bringing something like that to this map. I'm not saying the zombies will start shooting fire or anything, but maybe we'll get one of those dynamically changing weather type of things, like the fog in CotD, which was one of the parts of the map I loved. Maybe when the moon changes, zombies get a bit faster, like George's little buffering of the zombies on CotD when they start combat sprinting. It's a possibility I guess.

Hm. All this time theory hurts my head though. The only way I know my timeline theory would be right, is if when Shangri-La comes out, there's references to Gersch and/or other events of Ascension. But that Tank quote from CotD is the thing that's throwing us all off, plus let's not forget, the only person who's fully changing their outfit is Richtofen. Takeo, Tank and Nicholai all have the same outfits on they've always had on, albeit they get torn and such in Ascension. @Zombicidal - But it's pretty obvious that they teleport out of CotD, but I guess like you said, the only way we could be sure is when the next map comes out.
-
Some of the stuff kinda makes sense in this vid, like I like the idea of negative pick-ups, and maybe the boss zombie won't be as hard to take down this time around but still a challenge none the less.

Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
@Zables, possibly, unless the notes form the video by MrDalekJD I've heard are true. @Jason - If the mag still has the silverback on it, can we at least get a picture? The video Zables showed me was shown to me before Ascension came out, so it's highly possible it's changed by now, just like the 115 Tattoo on Frank's Arm. And I can say with my own conviction that the Silverback won't make an appearance due to the facts I've already stated. Now, there may be "links" to the rest of the zombie universe in Five, but what IS the link exactly? The significance I mean. 1) The Silverback isn't in the other zombie maps besides DOA, and when you're actually ON the zombie map, the magazine's about Ascension, not The Silverback. 2) The "Wunder Weapon" Research was only the Winter's Howl, and that gun only makes an appearance in Five as well, unless you have the older maps then I think it may be in the box there too. 3) When did Dempsy and Roebuck look at all similar? And aren't those "clones" also in the single player on Rebirth Island? 4) How do we know it's the same Der Riese teleporter? What if the US, or the guy who developed the Ray Gun, were simply developing their own teleporter? 5) They make phone calls, sure, but to what significance? None really, aside from letting us know that the zombie outbreak was happening in more than just their part of the world, which we could already assume was the case from the radios on Der Riese. 6) Re-used textures. It gives the Five map a more Zombie-esque Atmosphere, as opposed to using the same portraits from Single Player. 7) Um...what?... 8) Again, probably just textures to give us a more Zombie-Esque atmosphere and less of a "I'm playing a different game mode with things i've already seen in the single player campaign" atmosphere. Five has virtually little significance to the overall story, aside form letting us know that the zombie outbreak was in different parts of the world. But, that's not the point of the post now is it. -
Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Now that, I can agree with Zables. We've disagreed clearly but it's better than having our personal tastes in music attacked like on this other post i'm on Sorry that was off topic >_> -
It's a possible theory i suppose, although I kind of realized something just the other day. Richtofan isn't techincally wearing a "space" suit in Ascension. Space suits are huge and bulky and even back then they limited movement by a whole bunch. Richtofan actually looks like he's wearing a Hazmat suit, similar to the suits you wear when you're playing as Hudson during the invasion of that Ascension Island or w/e in single player, when you have to fight through the Nova Gas. Now, why is he wearing a Hazmat suit of all things? i have no idea. But, that's besides the point. My original point is, it wouldn't make a lick of sense to the story if Ascension was after Shangri-La, Tank couldn't have made a reference to Gersch in CotD if the events of Ascension didn't happen, so Ascension has to come before their "accidental" trip to CotD and then Shangri-La would come next.

Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
I'm honestly not trying to one up anyone, i'm just trying to support my educated facts in general, in all honesty. I hate coming off as a dick but I also can't no-clip cause I only own Black Ops on the 360, so I have no way of proving if the magazine is as he says it is at this point in time :( -

KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Techincally I am kinda right, seeing as...well..that's campaign. I'm honestly not trying to be a dick, and yes that magazine may be on the map Five, but this video was also made before Ascension came out, so this version of the mag in the video may not exist anymore in single player even. So my point may not have been proved FURTHER, but my point has been proven right :? -
Oi. At the same time, your views on "good" music and "bad" music are opinions, not facts. And actually, I'm a huge Megadeth fan and have heard of the bands you mentioned. I'm just not picky when it comes to my music. I go by the saying "If it feels good, do it". If I like a song i'm listening to, i'll go buy it, or if I like a band i'm seeing on TV, i'll go find their music and more than likely buy it. I've got a little bit of everything in my iTunes Library, from the "watered down" metal you'd describe as A7X, to Marylin Manson, to Judas Priest, to Paramore, to The Misfits, to Danzig, to Adolescents, to Thrashball, to Straight Line Stitch, to Pantera, to John Mayer to Johnny Cash to Motley effing Crue, but I don't go accusing people of listening to "bad music" when they bring up a band I don't like. hell, I even have songs on my iPod from bands I don't like that make good songs, like Fall Out Boy. Hate most of their stuff, but I dug their version of Beat It, for example. And go ahead and call me a "tool" for speaking from a business standpoint, but when it comes to companies, no matter what they make, it's their job to appeal to people who buy/are fans of whatever they make, correct? So why single out people that normally flock to their items? Oh, and since when did any of the songs in the zombie maps "relate to anything real"? Music doesn't HAVE to relate to someTHING real, music's ment to create an emotion. Every musician knows this. But the songs in the zombie maps, minus Five since there's no major significance to the zombie story, all relate to our story, even Not Ready to Die.

Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Actually Zables, not to burst your bubble but I just played through to the PaP room in Five, and there wasn't a magazine with the Silverback in it or on it :? The only Magazine on a chair I saw was one about "the space race" and had a big picture of the Rocket from Ascension/Single Player Campaign/Launch on MP. So, my point has kinda been proven even further :? -
It is a good theory, but Tank's quote about Gersch isn't something to "poke at our funny bone". The only way he'd know about Gersch is if the events of Ascension already happened, so no, it wouldn't make sense if Ascension was after Shangri-La. Think of it this way, you don't reach Paradise then Ascend, you can't even get to Paradise if you don't Ascend to it first.
-
In terms of the timeline in the story you mean? The proof is in the CotD easter Egg. Yes we know in Ascension that the crew looks like they've been to hell and back, and somehow in Shangri-La, they don't. But from a quote by Tank in CotD, it's obvious they went form Ascension to CotD; "I hope this is more rewarding than last time...Stupid Gersch..." If Tank knows about Gersch in CotD, then it's obvious the events of Ascension already happened. And where is the crew going from CotD? Shangri-La, aka Paradise. So, appearances of the characters aside, the timeline would go something like this; Der Riese to Kino, Kino to Ascension, Ascension to CotD, CotD to Shangri-La.

KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Well to your point then Zables, there's still no significance to it in hindsight. Sure, he's on a magazine cover on a regular zombie map, but to no real significance other than Treyarch needed a cool looking cover to make us think too much about it, like we normally do in Zombies. May not be reused but most of the magazines on Five don't have much significance to anything relating to our zombie story. -
Wow...all that screamed to me was that you're a music elitist, and 99% of those kinds of people are generally A-Holes when it comes to music. I've got a best friend who lives close to me, isn't a metal head at all, and hated A7X as much as the next guy. But, I took him to one of A7X's more recent shows, and he said he actually enjoyed listening to A7X live. But, after your "BLAH BLAH SELL OUT BLAH BLAH BLAH TRASH METAL BLAH BLAH" response i'm not gonna bother responding anymore, seeing as everything I say now's gonna be taken as me "being a tool to support them selling out", which is a stupid enough term as is. Oh and if A7X sucks so badly, then why'd they clean house at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards just recently for all the work they did on Nightmare? Just sayin'.
