Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Well ya, but Five doesn't provide much else other than that, plus the fact that the zombie maps take place in so many different parts of the world should have proven that anyway. We've gone from, what, Germany to Japan, back to Germany, to America, to Germany again, to Russia to Sibera? And now to China with Shangri-La? something like that anyway. So Five may be a part of the story, but it doesn't really honestly do anything that the rest of the zombie maps haven't done anyway. But that's besides the point, even if the "Cosmic Silverback" was mentioned on a mag in Five, there's no radio transcriptions or dialogue or anything that shows The Silverback has any significance to our regular zombie maps. That's the point i've been trying to make all along, aside from the fact that I doubt the Silverback would even literally fit into the map with all the tight corridors and such in Shangri-La, aside from the fact that we haven't seen any spacey tech in any of the images or footage we've seen from Shangri-La. -

Well ya, Five may have been "connected" to the zombie story with that room in the lab that has the Ray Gun, but there really wasn't any other significance besides that right? The characters provide nothing to the zombie story in the end, they don't seem to know what's going on, other than they're being invaded by Zombies. The Ascension phones didn't really give much other significance to Five either, IMO, aside from maybe the time period our map was based in. -
Ehhh, it's a smarter business decision in the end to go with A7X. Sure, hardcore music fans want some crazy thrashy old school metal track, but what happens when the masses playing said game come across said song and don't know what the hell they're listening to? They either stop playing the song and don't recommend the map to their friends, which would be a negative effect, or they'll go try and do tons of research to find out who it is, which is a positive effect. But in hindsight, most people won't know what they're listening to and probably wouldn't care for it unless they're into that kind of music. Plus, if you're on the 360 like me, you can just take a song off a CD and put it on your hard drive, play it whenever you want. So, make the easter egg song done by a band that lots of people know, and more people are gonna flock to your map. Simple as that. Not to mention, this song was actually a huge deal for A7X themselves. This was the first non-album original track they've recorded with their new drummer, so there was some pressure on that front. Hate A7X or not, they did a fantastic job with Not Ready to Die IMO. Even my friends online, whom none of which are A7X fans, all like the song alot when it's played at the right times.

O.o never seen it, and didn't tons of people claim Five really didn't have anything to do with the story? -
I guess we could call it an "Educated Opinon" then Zombieofthedead.
-
you mean there's an opinion and an educated fact going both ways right? Appearances alone can't be the only argument. I mean, when the appearance of the 115 Tattoo on Frank Woods in the SP came, people assumed, based on Frank's new tattoo, that he would be one of the playable characters in the next map, which was quickly shot down when the Ascension trailer was released.
-
Why, cause of the clothes? Then if Ascension comes AFTER Shangri-La, how is Tank making a reference to Gersch in CotD? it doesn't make sense, story wise, to go from a place they haven't been yet to a place they've already been, even if the clothes do change around. Even the names of the maps should be proof enough, Ascension shouldn't come AFTER Paradise, you can't even GET to Paradise without Ascending to it!
-
It has to be, simply because of the CotD quote about Girsch. Ascension had to literally come before CotD and Shangri-La. I mean, even the "Send the crew to Paradise" achievement name should be proof enough.
-
It's gonna be a song by Elena and Kevin. If the next map they come out is another one of those "off the radar" types of maps like CotD or Five, then maybe they'll bring in someone else. Plus, if I remember correctly, Matt from A7X is a huge CoD fan and one of the heads of Treyarch is an A7X fan, and they had the whole Machinima trailer with their song Welcome to the Family on it before Black Ops launched, so that's more than likely how that came about. Plus, if memory serves, A7X wasn't the only band on CotD, even though 45 Grave didn't have an easter egg song on the map either.
-
Actually, Zombieofthedead got it right. When you do the CotD easter egg, Tank makes a mention of Gersch, aka the Death Machine Easter Egg form Ascension, before they teleport off the map. Therefor the order of events would be as I stated: DR to Kino, Kino to Ascension, Ascension to CotD, CotD to Shangri-La. Doesn't matter what time period the maps actually take place, we're speaking of the chronological order of events in our story.

KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
If you're referring to me Jason, then um..I think I stated a couple of things already that counter your argument, mainly this; Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, i'm not discrediting that. But I stuck by MY guns and supported my opinion with facts; the only monkeys in the regular zombie maps, at least until Shangri-La comes out, are the ones in Ascension. It made sense for those to be there because of A) The location of the map itself, and The fact that Russians, in recorded history, tested space...thingies....on monkeys of that nature. The fact that we can discredit the existence of The Silverback in any of the regular zombie maps should be the "PROOF??" you were asking for in the first place. And just to reiterate, i'll say it again, there's no records of Gorillas being tested on or having experiments done on them or anything of that nature in any of the regular zombie maps. Like I said, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, i'm not saying the OP can't think the Silverback's gonna come in this map, but there's a big difference between "being supportive of the chosen few "elite" zombie players" and having an EDUCATED "opinion". Even you can't deny that. -
I do like that theory even more Pyro. Like I said, Richtofan's definitely looking for something in particular. We could both be right, perhaps his way of "dealing" with Samantha is either getting rid of Samantha's powers for himself or controlling Samantha herself, but in order to do that he needs some sort of Immortality Power so Samantha doesn't straight up crush him.
-
Wouldn't make sense for them to go from a place they haven't been to a place they've already been. Granted, the outfits and such may not make sense, but I think, chronologically, It would probably go something like this; DR to Kino, Kino to Ascension, Ascension to CotD, CotD to Shangri-La. Disregard the ACTUAL time period these maps all take place, this seems like the right CHRONOLOGICAL order.
-
I'm betting the Eclipse is either; A) A boss round atmosphere change, as the other maps have done the same sort of thing when the Dogs/Monkeys/Theif come about Some kind of Easter Egg significance C) Something perhaps involving the PaP or D) Something Cut-scene related and it won't have anything to do with the Silverback, at all.
-
Why not mix the two? Give us SOME kind of clues as to what to do, but be WAY more rewarding, like CotD was. So an epicly long easter egg hunt with vague clues like Ascension that leads to a kick-ass reward like CotD in other words.

you never know, it was probably casual friday.... Well, that's certainly putting a new touch on casual, ain't it?

Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Woah woah woah now, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but even SOME things in zombies have to make sense. A) The Silverback's exclusive to DOA, there's no evidence of any space-related tech in Shangri-La that would prove the Silverback has anything to do with the regular zombies period. In fact I've failed to see any evidence on ANY map besides DOA that has any significance to The Silverback being involved at all. Chimps are vicious in the wild, noted, but what would be more scary to hunt, a smaller sized mamal that might screech real loud and scurry about with his quickness, or a gigantic mamal that could easy break all of your ribs if it ever hits you in the stomach and tip your tour bus over? C) Even though I never said "Unrealistic" in my post, and despite the crazyness of our zombie story, some things HAVE to make sense to the story. IE; there's no crashed space technology in any of the images or video we've seen from Shangri-La so far because we're in the mountains, away from modern technology, the Wunderwaffe not making an appearance in Kino due to, as Richtofan stated, having "overloaded the MDT". D) I'm not doubting Treyarch wouldn't do something, but at the same time, some people have read into things based on re-used textures, like the Wunderwaffe DG-2 book appearing in the single player campaign. E) An avatar item? Really? The only "significance" it has is that people liked DOA. If I'm not mistaken, the Frank Woods outfit is in the public avatar catalogue too, and alotta people thought Woods and Mason and the SP cast were gonna be the characters in Ascension. F) And a forum name now? C'mon, that's just....just....c'mooooon...>_> it's just his favorite character, really... -
What are these new "species" Treyarch says?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to Shake-n-Bake5454's topic in Shangri-La
I'm betting on the new species of Monkey, and will kick every member of Treyarch in the nutsack if it winds up being the Cosmic Silverback  The monkeys in Ascension look like very simple monkeys, something you'd find in a zoo, but for the life of me I can't put a finger on the species name. The monkeys in Shangri-La look like vicious little Baboons. Well, bigger than the monkeys from Ascension anyway. -
Same sort of thing. Richtofan was learning all sorts of new things about Element 115 and what it could do while he was working for Dr. Maxis, hence why he knows as much as he does throughout the rest of the maps.
-
That, i'm not totally sure. But our Golden Rod from CotD has to play SOME sort of huge significance in this new map.
-
Yaaaa......I got confused about this....I don't know where you found all that at, but um, Shangri-La is not Area 51 buddy.... I mean, unless Area 51 is really a jungly tropical paradise with old rickety wooden bridges and temples and all the people there wear clothes that make them look like they're from 3rd world countries..
-
So, I know alotta people have been making posts about why our Favorite Zombie Slayers are heading to the mythical city/town/mountain area of Shangri-La. After piecing some things together that didn't have anything to do with the Cosmic Silverback, I think I may have a theory on where things are going from here. Richtofan, from the beginning, has obviously known more about what's going on than anyone else. Whilst fooling around with the CotD Easter Egg, I recall Richtofan saying something along the lines of: "It's times like this I wish I hadn't erased their...I mean....force field, force field, I'm stuck behind the force field" Richtofan's obviously goofed up with the erasing of their memories, but why would he be so concerned about it? That question bugged me for days, but it finally started coming together after the announcement of Shangri-La. The people of Shangri-La have obviously been fantasized to be Immortal. So, if the crew is headed to Shangri-La, what importance did CotD have in their journey? The "Long, stiff, hard Golden Rod", that'd be what. So, let's piece a little something together. Richtofan sends Maxis and Samantha, who seems to be a big force behind the zombies, into some sort of Limbo-like state or place. Everywhere Richtofan goes, the zombies seem to follow. Richtofan's been doing research on all this zombie nonsense and Element 115, so here's part one of our equation: What if Richtofan's actually figured out a way to either put a stop to or free Samantha? This would explain why he needs so many different things from all the places he's going. Part two goes like this: Why does Richtofan need this "Long, stiff, hard golden rod" exactly? Well, this is what came to mind after I saw the announcement of Shangri-La; what if the Golden Rod was a key to something at Shangri-La itself? Something that Richtofan had some kind of knowledge on that he already did some research on? Perhaps some kind of Key to Immortality, as a sort of insurance plan should something go wrong in his grand scheme to either free or put a stop to Samantha? Maybe even something more...sinister....hmm....i'll work more on this part >_> So basically, my equation leads me to the following theory on where the story's heading with Shangri-La: Richtofan's taking this Golden Rod to the city of Shangri-La to search for something to help him with his showdown with Sam, which is pretty much inevitable.... .......at least in our eyes, right? Like I mentioned before, this is all just a theory, i'm interested in hearing other people's thoughts on all this.

Is it time for our encounter with the Silverback?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to RedDeadRiot's topic in Shangri-La
Couldn't that just be the effect of a fire trap to certain types of zombies? Or just like some sort of new zombie type? In regards to Flamming Zombie, I doubt it's a trap/weapon effect, highly. This zombie's glowing from the inside, and it appears to moving and walking in the trailer, albeit slowly, probably because of video effects. In regards to this post's topic.... *ahem* NO NO NO NO 1,000 TIMES NO!!!! The Silverback has NOTHING to do with any of the regular zombie maps period!!! No one that I know of ever did any tests on GORILLAS, considering A) The price of shipping Gorillas/finding people to capture them was probably RIDICULOUS, considering how dangerous and huge they are, and The huge and dangerous part again, plus the cost of redesigning all the tests and such to fit a being the size of a gorilla in it, and the rocket itself of course. The Silverback is EXCLUSIVE to DOA, Treyarch may just be reusing ALOT of textures on this new map, which is where any similarities to DOA would pop up. And honestly, they way you've worded stuff makes it sound like Richtofan's a servant of the Silverback. Where the hell does that even make sense? Richotfan isn't serving ANYONE but himself. Well, The Illuminati, but I don't think "the dark lord" of The Illuminati is a giant Gorilla in a space suit. -
Night. Cutscene. How the crew arrives.
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to GEARSOFWAR147's topic in Shangri-La
Wouldn't make much sense. If Richtofan has his "long, stiff, hard Golden Rod" with him on this map, then it takes place after CotD. As mentioned above, if Richtofan has his Golden Rod then Shangri-La will come right after CotD. You mean from SNN to Der Riese? They couldn't travel anywhere without a teleporter. Honestly I think they just went straight to Der Riese on their own, since Richtofan knows exactly where the facility is. Er, was, rather. -
The Huong River was also in the Pentagon section of the single player campaign, Five has it all mirrored or backwards or something. As mentioned, the next zombie map is in the legendary city of Shangri-La.
