The DG-2's absence from the more recent zombie maps actually makes sense for our story. If you've played Kino Der Toten on solo, you'll recall Richtofen saying something about the MDT overloading and causing the crew to go back in time. How did the MDT overload though? Well, if i remember correctly, someone posted a theory on here that the MDT overloaded with the help of the DG-2, seeing as the crew would use it so much during their stay in Der Riese. Since the DG-2 likely caused the MDT to overload, it's likely that the DG-2 is simply broken. I mean, if a gun with that much power caused a time-traveling space rift, isn't it likely that it's just broken? Perhaps lost somewhere in the space-time rift it opened? Thus would explain the absence of the DG-2.
-
That seems like it would make sense, but then remember again, Maxis and Samantha met their supposed demises at the hands of Richtofen. There really wouldn't be a reason for Maxis to truly help Richtofen if the story was staying on that path. Otherwise that would be a very nice theory though.
-
There's still NO PROOF that Maxis is dead. Again people, read the Dreamland/Der Riese servers from the main menu terminal. "we cannot confirm or deny that Maxis is dead" No one can say for sure if Maxis is dead or not, only speculate.
-
Well, looks like I struck gold again. Playing as Dempsy earlier on Solo, I tossed a Gersch Device and was followed with a "Say Hello To Sam For Me" quote, which thus struck a lightbulb, pointing towards part of my own theory I made not too long ago (If you wanna read the post I made, click here: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=6338 ) Recall the 6th Radio from Ascension, where we discover that Yuri managed to murder Gersch with what we assume to be his own device. (Here's where the theory part comes in) The Gersch Device that Yuri was initially working on (Which we found out from the first radio on Ascension, where someone was talking about transferring Yuri from The Mercury Project, aka The Gersch Device) must have somehow wound up being a portal for Samantha, and thus the 6th radio transmission would be born. Somehow though, the crew learned of Gersch's demise, which would thus explain why Dempsy would shout that phrase out as he throws the Gersch Device. Sounds like a sound theory, eh?

lmao, how convenient xD This is still a huge find.

Pack-A-Punch Quote = Turning on Richtofen?
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to mexnemo11's topic in Ascension
I posted something similar to this here: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=6525 I do believe we're headed to some sort of huge Dreamland like theory, but the details are still a bit scarce. -
So, after playing on Solo a few times on Ascension/with some buddies of mine, i've been hearing quotes from the characters that involve the story. Specifically from Tank, Takeo and Richtofan. Tank's line was one that's been mentioned before, something along the lines of "Richtofan..I don't like that guy. I think I remember seeing him before Shi No Numa but then again...I don't remember much before that..." Takeo had a nice long speech about The Dr. (Richtofan), which ended in (something like) "...he will pay for what he's done!" Richtofan was the one with the most inside info, he's had quite a few quotes, some of which were hard to hear thanks to the PaP Jungle going off at the same time. "I don't like Dempsy. He's just a big meathead. Nothing changes no matter how times we meet (? i think, i couldn't hear this line clearly cause of the damn pack a punch jingle) "Takeo..he was always so quiet. No matter what we did to him he was always so...respectful..." (There may have been more to this line, but like i said with the PaP Jungle going off at the same time, it was hard to hear most of these lines) "Nikolai...(the jingle made it hard to hear most of this line, but he said something about his drinking problem here)...Or maybe what we did to him caused his drinking problem. Who knows?" So, after hearing some these, I have a couple of theories as to what these are referring to. Theory 1, in basic terms, supports the Dreamland Theory. Theory 2 is a bit more in depth, and will require a step back to Kino for a moment. If you can recall, in the PaP room on Kino, there's a chalk board up there with the PaP Machine. On that chalk board (I think, if it's not then check on one of the boards on Der Riese) is the phrase "Experiment 935 was successful, other experiments can be based off this model" So, what if Richtofan was the head/assistant of the head of this "Experiment 935",(possibly relating back to Der Riese where Richtofan was Maxis' assistant) and Takeo, Nikolai and Tank were all involved in the experiment somehow? Perhaps test subjects, wether willingly or unwillingly is unkonwn. This would explain Richtofan's statements about the other 3 and the "what we did" parts of his quotes. Now to add on that, what if at the time Ascension's rolling around, Takeo and Tank are regaining their memory about certain events? This part of the theory would explain both why Takeo wants revenge on Richtofan and why Tank's remembering Richtofan from before Shi No Numa. Like I said, this is only a theory, but if I'm right, then this is a huge direction for the story. What do you guys think? *UPDATE 2/9* I seem to recall Takeo saying a line similar to Tank's now, about not remembering things before Shi No Numa but seeing Richtofan's face before it.
-
The only problem with this theory is that while using the Death Machines, you can't interact with anything. Otherwise this could have been a good theory.
-
lol thanks guys. ya on that last radio though, I heard a voice say something about "Fire" that sounded like the demonic bonus drop voice (like when it goes DOUBLE POINTS), so maybe we're both right. Maybe somehow, Yuri managed to suck Gersch into a Gersch device that subsequently released Samantha? Makes sense with this theory at least. And ya, how the 4 got the launch site is still a mystery to me as well, on top of why the 4 are all covered in blood at the beginning, and why Richtofan is wearing different attire and such.
-
Problem is, if this was "before" the other maps then A) Why is Richtofan in a space suit and Why are all the characters bloody? Oh and C) Why is it that only Nikolai's clothes are torn and tattered, while there don't appear to any visible tears or anything on anyone else's outfits? (I may be wrong, i thought i'd seen some minor holes in Tank's pants on the leg the other night but idk for sure)

Actually, It has been confirmed by me. Found a nameplate with the name "Luvig Maxis M.D." the thread is in the Kino section. I've seen the name plate too, that doesn't mean Maxis is dead. If you read the Dreamland files on the main menu of Black Ops, there's a mention of a file somewhere about the incident that lead to Samantha and Maxis' demise, but in the file it states clearly that "we cannot confirm Maxis is actually dead", or something to that effect.
-
It was never confirmed that Maxis was dead, but Samantha and Maxis are more than likely completely separated. Samantha simply assumes Maxis is dead, but realizes how evil Maxis truly was so she's looking to take everything from Maxis. Element 115, however, is sort of turning Samantha into a bit of a power hungry little girl. A very freaky, power hungry little girl. Some of your questions, however, i've actually just recently addressed in my own post, which can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=6338 The film reels and radios are transmissions from other members of Group 935, the Group believed to be responsible for zombies, at least partially. Maxis was heavily involved in Group 935, but by the time Der Riese rolls around, Maxis is assumed to be already dead as well, yet his voice is on nearly every one of those radio transmissions. Aside from all that I mentioned, i'd just read my post as carefully as you can. I'll try to figure out some more of your gripes, but I have to say, there's no logic in the 4 heroes suddenly traveling to the moon as the next map. Alot of people assumed Ascension would even be based on the moon if I recall. But either way, i don' think you have to worry about a map being on the Moon.

*WARNING, THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE ASCENSION RADIOS, IF YOU HAVE NOT LISTENED TO THEM, TRY TO POSSIBLY...well....come to think of it, i'm not too sure how to avoid the problem....so you're probably just SOL...heh* After listening to the radios on Ascension and other radios on Kino and whatnot, the story arch is becoming a bit clearer. I won't bother wasting anyone's time with the German 935 Theories, we all know what happened there. But, let's think back to Kino for a second. Playing as Richtofan, I've heard him say a couple of key quotes that fuel my theory: QUOTE 1 "Dr. Maxis would have had his undead army, if only he hadn't broken the trust barrier" What could this possibly mean? Maxis must have crossed some kind of line during his initial experiments with 115 and zombies and such. What was that line exactly? My theory, which I'll get into more detail in a bit later, is that somehow, The Reich found out about Maxis seeking help from Russians, whom were enemies of Nazi Germany at the time. QUOTE 2 (Upon acquiring the Thundergun) "Oh Maxis, is this the DG-3? The DG-3 you've been hiding from me?" Obviously Maxis had some outside benefactors in his research after the fall of Der Riese, likely a cause of the funding cuts. (Recall the Der Riese radio where Maxis is talking to Sophia about writing a letter to the Reichstag High Command) Maxis was SO obsessed with his work that he refused to give it up. So what'd he do? Something no Nazi would ever think of doing at the time, get his funding/extra research from an enemy of Nazi Germany, aka Russia. Now where's the connection in all this? Upon listening to the Ascension radios, Yuri and his boss (who's name I don't quite know at the time) made mentions of Project Thunder. Sound familiar? It should. Whatever these Russian scientists were working on, aside from the Gersch Device, wound up being The Thundergun, aka The DG-3. (How Maxis got his hands on/became involved with the DG-3? I'm not totally sure) But working on a wonder-weapon style project, which was more than likely fueled by Element 115, would obviously come with some side effects. When Yuri's boss transfered him to a seemingly lesser project, Yuri grew furious with rage. (Sounding a bit familiar? Richtofan/Maxis anyone?) The more anger Yuri felt, the more his mind faded, and his exposure to Element 115 didn't help a thing. His Exposure caused him to start seeing (DUN DUN DUUUNNNNN) teddy bears (one of the Ascension radios mentions finding a teddy bear in the labs), maryshka dolls (again, mentioned in the radios, if i'm not mistaken the first one, or second one, where you hear "Wh...is that a Maryshka doll? Who let a child into the *SCREECH*), and eventually Samantha herself. Yuri's work with Element 115 was Samantha's opportunity to reach back out into the world she once knew and wreak the havoc she sought to wreak at Der Riese. (This part of my theory was helped on Ascension, when playing as Tank I PaP'd a weapon and heard him say "Who would have thought one little girl could cause so much trouble?") And obviously, she wreaked ALOT of havoc on the Russian research facility. Why would this happen though? What does Sam have against the Russians all of a sudden? Project Thunder. Samantha somehow found out about Maxis's involvement with the Russians, so decided to punish anyone related to her apparently awful father. Her power was a huge influence for Yuri, who's rage and slight paranoia was enough to be the opening portal for Samantha (Listen to the 6th Ascension radio and you'll figure out what i'm talking about) but Samantha didn't need Yuri after her comeback. So what did Samantha do? Rid herself of another pesky Maxis related problem, aka Yuri. Luckily for Yuri, he realized what he did after Samantha killed his bossand realized the (Insert crazy generator name) thingy may be the only way he can break out of his limbo-esque hell. Now, how he manages to contact our 4 heroes is still a mystery I have yet to solve. I also have yet to solve to a couple things that have bugging me since I started playing Ascension: -Why is Richtofan in a different attire? -Why do our 4 heroes look like they've been through hell, only to arrive and go through hell again? (if you don't know what I mean, at the start of Ascension, all 4 heroes are covered in blood, and Nikolai's outfit is actually partially torn and tattered) But, there's my theory on the story connection, comment as you see fit and all that other fun stuff, eh? (Btw i never did mention my GamerTag in case people wanted to try and play some time, it's KAOS Shogun)

WHAT "BEWARE OF THE 6" REALLY MEANS!!!
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to The_Black_Operator's topic in Kino Der Toten
one of the rooms that the Teleporter takes you to is a briefing room in The Pentagon, with a model soviet rocket on the table. At certain points in the game, if you hold X (or square on the PS3 i think) the rocket floats off teh table into the ceiling. -
Obvious Ascension Hints that We Didnt Notice
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to METALLICA175's topic in Ascension
It'd take a hell of a lot of cover up to change 115 to SOGTOUGH. I've been noticing the 115 tattoo as well, it lasts through the whole game up until he gets killed. -
WHAT "BEWARE OF THE 6" REALLY MEANS!!!
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to The_Black_Operator's topic in Kino Der Toten
theres 5 portraits... No there's 6. The portrait room with Richtofan, Tank and all those portraits? 5 are on the wall. Tank Nikolai Takeo Richtofan Empty portrait There's a 6th portrait on the floor by the empty portrait. I had posted a theory about this but i have a feeling those portraits are gonna represent something bigger in the story myself. -
weird glitch about cosmic silverback
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to crazy skillz's topic in Kino Der Toten
you definently need some proof. The Cosmic Silverback's already been discussed to be EXCLUSIVE to DOA, plus people who have reached later rounds haven't seen any bosses aside from Dogs. Soooo we need some proof. -
My Own Theory on "Beware The 6!"
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to KAOS_Shogun4489's topic in Kino Der Toten
Possible that it's a parody, and like i said this is all a theory, but it's hard to ignore. That's all lol. -
My Own Theory on "Beware The 6!"
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to KAOS_Shogun4489's topic in Kino Der Toten
Too obvious Phazer, which is why I feel that the "Beware The 6" means something greater. -
interesting, but not entirely believable. The only character portraits i've ever seen on Five are Richtofen and the Mystery Portrait, aka the one with no one in the pic. Plus...there...really isn't any "upper levels" to the Pentagon. The highest up level physically is the one you start in on Five, can't go any higher than that. The Ascension Island idea is more probable.

another connection between campaign and zombies
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to luinipuini's topic in Kino Der Toten
Highly possible..I'll have to do some more research into that. But last i checked, Richtofen's only made one radio entry. -
My Own Theory on "Beware The 6!"
KAOS_Shogun4489 replied to KAOS_Shogun4489's topic in Kino Der Toten
Why thank ya kind sir Still trying to do more research on this theory though. -
Okay, so seeing as this is my first big theory post, I need to take a bit of a nervous breath. *ahem* Alright, i'm good. Playing through Kino recently with my little brother and some other friends, I stumbled across some strange quotes coming from our heroes. I've heard Nikolai refer to the zombies as "fallen comrades", and he's even uttered "Aww, poor little russian lost his head", among other things that I can't remember at the moment. >_> Nikolai has also made similar quotes to Richtofen, calling some zombies "SWINES", and repeating the body parts quote Richtofen makes. (Something like "Bone, Gore, Sinnu, Organs, Pulminary Systems!" or something like that) Some of the other heroes have also refereed to the zombies as Russians, but I can't exactly remember which characters i heard....perhaps Dempsy....I'll have to go back and think on this one... But after amassing these strange quotes, I started contemplating something... What if this "Beware the 6!" quote in the lobby is actually referring to the characters we play as? It sounds like a farfetched theory, but after reading the Dreamland post, listening to the quotes and looking at the mysterious portraits, what if, somehow, the characters all have some sort of contribution to the zombie outbreak? I bring up the portraits because, if you remember, there are actually 6 portraits, the 6th is on the floor next to the picture with the empty silouhette(sp?). I mean, why else would there be portraits of the "good guys" in a group 935 facility? Also, looking at the blackboards, both in Kino and Der Riese, I've seen some things on the blackboard that lead me to believe there really was someone/something else behind the zombies. Things like "Never Again Sam", "Edward, I Know It Was You!" and, most importantly of all, "Experiment 935 Was Successful, Others Can Be Based Off This Model". I'll try to add more to this post as I go, but like I said, this is only a theory, I just needed to gather the basics of my thoughts before I posted this.

Actually, I just played Kino last night, and the building didn't shake at all. It was only parts of the roof coming down. The roof theory seems as likely as this: When you throw the power switch, the lights and sounds of the Theatre attract the Crawlers. Or Gassers, or w/e you wanna call them. As the (insert creature name here) amass on the roof, parts of the roof come down due to the mass number of (insert creature name here) gathering there at one time. Seems most likely to me at least, dunno about you guys.
