Pack A Punch/ box weapons - key to success?
aegisknight replied to fraztheman's topic in Kino Der Toten
the ray gun isn't any better upgraded, and without looping it is easy to get surrounded regardless of the guns you use. The best strategy I've found is to use a wall gun and a wunderweapon, upgrade both of them past round 20, and just point whore as much as you can. Then once you get into and past the 30's, loop up a swarm, point whore a bit, and lead them through a trap. -
what if you were to just shoot the gas?
-
and the military doesn't have full auto m16's. Every m16 produced from roughly the advent of the AUG has been set to 3 round burst.
-
Has anyone tried to use the Hades to light the gas lines? If it works, it would be WAY easier than waiting for a napalm zombie
-
if you have at least 2 people who know it well, it really doesn't take all that long. If you plan on breaking round 30, its totally worth it to have all four players get the stone. The fire zombie with the claymores is a great bet, so is doing the stepping stones two at a time.
-
they took it out because it was unbalanced. It just had too much ammo, too powerful, and too much more useful than the other wall guns, so its the only one anyone uses. I don't really mind it gone, even though I use it in every map that its availible. The AK74u is my next choice for this map, but its a bit over-rated overall; it has a tiny ammo capacity both clip wise and total. I also don't get the M16 hate on Shangri-La. If you have the focusing stone, the Skullcrusher is an absolute monster: high fire rate with headshots thanks to deadshot and doubletap, very powerful grenade launcher with no splash thanks to flopper, and basically infinite ammo since its a wall gun. There is nothing not to like.

I don't buy any supersticions without quotes from the game's code to back it up

Just to clarify, are you saying you can go down, bleed out, and still start the next round with all seven perks? You can bleed all the way out, disappear, and when you spawn at the start of your next round with the M1911, you will still have all 7 perks. I've confirmed this. And yes, you need to activate the radio in the starting area at the foot of the steps to the pack-a-punch and let it play through most of the way before the stones will pop out, allowing you to eclipse again.

perhaps, I'll have to get with a group who knows what they're doing to get the hang of it
-
maybe, but those are crates for war materiel. It would be nice if somebody who knew russian could translate the writing on it
-
Interesting. It is a massive pain to follow those monkeys around to chase the perk, I've only actually seen it once. Its only really worth it in solo I think. May as well get the focusing stone in co-op. Takes longer, but less frustrating.
-
There are some ammo crates with Russian writing all over them in some places too, despite its Asian location. The mixture of Asian women with what looks like Indian men is also curious

you are a classy gent

I'm not calling them bad (the egg is brilliant when you get a good team), just a tad short-sighted sometimes. What update has made the game unplayable?
-
Well yesterday I did finish the egg with some people from this forum, and it was a lot of fun. I want to do it again at every opportunity, but I already know that I won't have a ton of them. Although I suppose if I make enough friends with people here I could find a group within a reasonable time, in which case it would be a ton of fun (probably more fun zombies overall). But still on the whole, needing the cooperation of all 4 players makes the egg much harder than I believe it should be, the same goes for activating the pack-a-punch.
-
I've lost hope of a solo EE. The "easter egg not so hard this time" is one of Takeo's random quotes when turning on the power, and Richtofen always has the Golden Rod. But it has no use in the EE
-
to activate the eclipse, there are 4 very large stone buttons in each corner of the very center (with the quick revive). They need to be pressed at the same time. The pack a punch uses the pressure plates. There is one in front of quick revive, one in the cave between the mine cart and the AK74u room, one in front of the power, and one at the end of the bridge before you go down into the cave leading to the base of the waterfall.

because I play during the day. I got people yesterday, and we got about 1/3 of the way through the egg, then we got booted. Yes, I understand teamwork and I absolutely love the game when everyone works together. But expecting that I get a full group of like-minded individuals with reasonable frequency is just silly. On all my "record" rounds on every map, the best it has been was 3 really good players and one guy who either quit or could barely hold his own. It just isn't feasible to get people who are both good and know what they are doing on the map. I still have yet to get past step 2 of the Ascension egg.
-
the teammate finder is good, but I generally like playing with randoms, its how I make friends. But in terms of EE, its still much more difficult than getting 1 or 2 more to cooperate compared to all 4
-
well then you got extremely lucky. The only time I can play is during the day, with kids who can't play. And either way, any time it requires 4 people, I'm turned off. Getting 4 to cooperate is just too much of a pain, it always has been. On top of people who just suck, there are people with no patience, and people with no mic. The shrink ray has been a disappointment too, it shrinks just a little pool and they grow back too quickly. If you are trying to clear a path, its always going to miss at least one, meaning you're completely screwed. I've gone down more than once with 10 minis and 1 biggie just because you can't kick them away faster than they hit

The Shangri-La easter egg seems to have all of the problems of the Ascension egg, and so I will never be able to finish it. There is no solo mode. This is the most annoying right now, because on top of not being able to finish, the eclipse just looks cool. It cannot be done without the full cooperation of all 4 participants. This is the most annoying in the long run, because playing online has rendered me 100% impossibility of finding 4 competent players in the same room at the same time. Through the entire time I have been playing BO (since launch), I have played almost exclusively with randoms, and I have had a group of 4 players all consistently able to survive past round 15 exactly once on any map. This far it has been all but impossible to get people to cooperate enough to open the pack-a-punch (thus far I have accomplished this exactly once online), let alone negotiate complicated steps to get any easter egg done. Here's to hoping that it can be accomplished solo, but I'm already highly disappointed with the multiplayer. I probably will have to organize a group on these forums to get the achievement, then never accomplish it again (compared to the CotD egg that I would run around and finish in about half the games I played).

yes and no, a video guide is great when you're stuck and need very specific direction, but if I'm playing online with people I much prefer to just look at written steps with my iphone. It just takes much less time to read than to wait through the videos to get to the point I need. There's a thread with the CotD steps written out and links to the video that I've found infinitely useful, its my only phone bookmark to date.

reading them is easier than watching videos while you're playing...

All steps of the Easter Egg in Videos +RADIOS +SUMMARY VIDEO
aegisknight replied to LUDRICOUSZ's topic in Shangri-La
it would be nice to have the steps typed out too. I usually check this on my iphone, waiting through videos is kind of a pain. That said, no solo egg is a huge let down. There is no way to find 4 people good enough to not die by round 10, let alone cooperate to get the PAP or EE. I'm kind of disappointed Treyarch didn't see this as a problem.
