  1. Disclaimer: I haven't even done the easter egg yet, I never get people who have any idea how to do it. But what I personally think is that the end is inaccessible right now. As in it is impossible to actually finish it. Why? Well, because not everyone can play with it yet. I think it probably will be unlocked shortly after the PS3 gets its release of the map, that way the two separate communities can enjoy completing the hunt together. Besides, they could easily put in the "key" to unlock it when they patch the glitches, so I don't think its all that far fetched.
  2. bloody canadians. They think they're sooooo funny.
  3. nacht is said to be the second outbreak in the intel. Tank was in Verruct, which means it was before Shi or Der
  4. 1. Firing a gun makes a lot of noise and attracts zombies in the area 2. You will run out of bullets before the zombies run out of zombies 3. Getting close for melee kills is going to turn you into a zombie 4. No matter what you're thinking, so are about 100,000 other people. Be original and creative, it will keep you sane and alive 5. Good luck!
  5. I can't remember posting an introduction. I'm aegisjester, a 23 year old political economist that is pretty addicted to zombies. i'm from chicago, I'll be moving to montreal at some point, and I like to consider myself pretty good and shooting the undead in the head. I suck at easter egg hunting, but I concern myself with finding sustainable survival strategies in all maps. I'm always looking for new people to play with, especially if they're willing and able to open up doors sooner rather than later. Best rounds off the top of my head: Nacht: 17 Verruct: 22 Shi no Numa: 31 Der Reise: 30 Kino Der Toten: 39 FIVE: 25 Ascension: 29 All of which can be improved upon, but I used to get distracted when playing for long periods of time. Also all solo, I can't remember my LIVE rounds.
  6. Is this on WaW or the maps you get with hardened edition of Black Ops?
  7. I just wanna say that if there was ever a nazi zombies map where you have Abe Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, I don't think I would ever need to buy another game of anything ever again.
  8. This might not be right, so I highly suggest someone else check it out. But when I first ran into the power room, before hitting the power or anything, the TV screen (which normally shows the location of the box) had an illuminati symbol in it for a second before disappearing
  9. Ndu was before they really set any of that up, with unnamed heros. Story wise, you could say that Sam didn't really care about them, since it was far away from the epicenter of the conflict. You could back that up by citing all the terrible guns in the mystery box that seem less common later, no voice, and no dogs/boss. Verruct is before Der Reise, I personally think that is the first outbreak (NdU is said to be the second, Tank is present in Shi and Der after the events of Verruct would have unfolded)
  10. NO THEY DIDN'T LOL A small minority of stupid people thought it would be the Cosmic Silver Back. The rest of us had more sense than that. Yes, instead we got a map with monkeys that can seriously kick your ass in little space suits, having come from space. Totally nothing like the cosmic silverback.
  11. Fun Fact: ascension and Der Reise were the only maps to take place at night. Maybe the moon on the re-released Der Reise has some clues for us?
  12. On Kino: Skullcrusher and Zeus Cannon reason: Can buy ammo, and clear the path in front of you for running laps On Five: MPK5 and the other SMG in the middle floor, both PaP'd Reason: Can buy ammo without getting cornered On Ascension: RPK and HK PaP'd Reason: with Stamin-Up, you can move quickly and not run out of ammo
  13. indeed, but I always keep the piercing in mind when on multi too. When they approach the window, you can still line up your shots to hit more than one zombie at once, or just keep slashing. Being frugal with your pistol ammo gives nothing but good things.
  14. I don't think you guys are getting the most bang for your buck. Firing any shots before round 3 is kind of a waste. For single player, I don't fire at all until round 3, just knifing as they come through the window for powerups. Then at round 3, I get a max spawn, gather them into a group, and then unload into the group until there are only 1 or 2 zombies left. Keep in mind that you get piercing points, but it does negligible damage on the subsequent damage. So if you fire 8 shots into 1 zombie and knife him to death, you will normally get 210 points (80 + 130 for the knife). But if you wait until they're all in a group, you will hit at least 3 zombies for each bullet. So the clip alone gets you a minimum of 240 points, if you stab the zombie you can still get another 130 for each kill (not as risky as it sounds, you'll only be hit once and you can back up to recharge).
  15. again everybody's getting hyper-defensive over theories... it clearly wasn't meant to be part of any story when it was created, that was all retconned in (Verruct too, you will notice that they raygun is called a "spaceman gun", even though they decided later that it would be a wunderweapon). But that doesn't make it any less of the story now, since they decided to include it all. Of course, just because Nacht is the 2nd outbreak, it doesn't mean the same thing can't happen in the same place twice. Afterall, it happened in the middle of nowhere, so its perfectly likely that there was never a proper "clean up", and whatever caused the outbreak never went away and caused another somewhere down the line. A lot of the plausible theories I've seen said that Richtoffen is left behind in the basement of Nacht by everone else as they regain their memories, its been established that they can already travel trough time so plot wise its not especially relevant.
  16. We know this. However Treyarch seems to like to change their minds when it comes to Zombies and weapons they add to the box. Half the weapons in the bx right now are useless except the RPK, HK21, SPAS 12, CZ775 Dual and Single, Ray Gun, Thundergun, Commando, Galil All other guns totally and uterly useless Sniper rifles, really!? Crossbow & Ballistic Knife really!? Spectre blows goats..AUG is ok until later rounds but blows chunks.. This is MY opinion pap'd crossbow shooting darts that attract zombies is almost as useful as the thundergun. Gaili, commando, and AUG are awesome assault rifles and I take them any chance I get, I'll happily swap the raygun for them. Ballistic knife is great on its own until round 13, since if you pair it with the sickle or bowie knife, you get instant quick kills for a ton of points. In the later rounds, you get the auto-revive, which is mega useful. I personally find the raygun worse than useless and avoid it like the plague, the Spectre is as good as the MPK5 and if you get it out of the box, its cheaper. However, I fully agree that the PPSH should be in Zombies, along with the STG-44. Both have already been modeled into the game, both would be nice to see make appearances. with 100% earnest honesty, I can say that what guns you get does not matter whatsoever. I don't consider myself to be the most skilled player at the game, but I was doing just fine in the late 20's with just an un pap'd MPK5 and one of the other wall SMG's. What matters is if you are able to develop a method of play that keeps distance between you and the horde, what you use to actually kill them is a matter of personal preference.
  17. It might sound silly, but I have never figured traps into my strategies at all. There are upsides and downsides, you're able to actually kill them quickly (takes forever if you're shooting them) and you probably save a lot of points on ammo. But you don't get points (or kills? never checked) for trap kills, so that would really hurt your position on the leaderboards. You also might run into a problem of zombies spawning in bad places, but by the sound of things this wasn't at all a problem for you.
  18. Using the building in the background is perfectly fine for assumptions, but the most obvious thing to pay attention to is the van outside, which is clearly a 60's era machine. The real question is what all the nazi propaganda is doing all over the place in a downtown Berlin theater
  19. I don't believe anything goes on with the Centrifuge at all. I had a team get all the way to the Death Machines and we tested a theory one of us found about the room behind the Quick Revive machine possibly being open/able to open with the DMs, but when we ran through the starting room to get there the Centrifuge didn't make any noise. Matter of fact nothing made any noise any time i've ever had the DMs. It's quite probable that the Death Machines are it, just a way to help your team get to higher zombie levels. I really don't think its a benefit to getting to higher levels, it just doesn't last long enough for that. If anything, it would help you close out that level but even then the time it gives you just isn't that long
  20. for dogs, camping on the stage is OK, since the turret has no recharge time and is auto-kill at any round. The foyer before the Dressing Room (speed cola room) is also a great spot, again because of the turret
  21. That depends on how you define "problem". If nothing else, having accurate leaderboards lets me know who to trust in the beginning of matches; I'm not going to listen to the strategy of someone who made it to round 12, but I'll be more open to the ideas of the round 50 machine.
  22. its not a question of timing of the guns, that was actually a primary point through the development of Black Ops: you get access to guns well before they became standard production. The storyline of the regular game is in the early 60's (what with JFK being alive and all, if you don't need a clearer give-away), but the AUG is available both in the regular storyline and zombies. The AK74u didn't enter production until '74, but the AUG didn't see service until '78. I'm pretty sure the AK74u was also in the regular storyline later in the game, the dating of the guns is a horrible indicator for timeline in the Call of Duty universe. I think this was done because the selection of guns during the actual period was kind of crappy, the M16 was still fairly new, the FN FAL was the NATO rifle-of-choice, and the AK47 was the Eastern Bloc reigning champion. Unless they wanted to dip into WWII era weapons more (which honestly I wish they did, they took the time to program in the STG-44 and the PPSH and don't let us use them in multiplayer or zombies), they were kind of forced to borrow from the future.
  23. I'm starting to get the feeling that the final stages of the easter egg exist, but have been locked until the glitches are reasonably patched. Although I'll be honest, I haven't even started trying to work my way through the easter egg stuff that has been found. I'd like to at some point, but I've always been more concerned with building workable long-term survival strategies, and Ascension offers so many possibilities and ways to refine strategy that it keeps me very busy
  24. I've found that with high level monkeys, its going to be nearly impossible to kill them with traditional means. So unless you know something I don't, the best bet is to just let 'em take the perks, then lead them into traps, and grab more 'nog at the start of the next round. For this strategy, dealing with the monkeys is fairly simple. At the end of the round before you think monkeys are coming, call the lander to the pad near Speed Cola. This shouldn't be too hard, since you're able to call it back to wherever you want to use it if the monkeys don't come. But when they do, simply assume all your perks are lost, trying to defend them is not likely to end well. Once the monkeys are out for your blood, herd them as you would any other zombies, and head for Stamin-up. Activate the fire trap to kill them all (if some don't die, just do the same thing again, the important thing is that you end at Stamin-up). As the round ends, grab the max ammo and have everyone buy stamin-up. Immediately run back down the alley and into the start room. If you want quick revive, buy it as you pass, but just keep moving up the stairs. Buy juggernog as you pass it, and keep climbing. Don't bother shooting any zombies at this point, it will only slow you down. Go all the way through, past the power room, and up to speed cola. Buy it, and get everyone onto the pad. As soon as the horde catches up to you, take off. Since they were on their way up, they will now be their way back down the building towards you. This means you exit through the upstairs, activate the turret (why the hell not at this point), and go your separate ways (depending on your preferred spots). The full horde should not have been killed at this point, so they should be grouped together in the building, moving between the Speed Cola and the start room. This should give everyone plenty of time to move from the split point just outside the door leading outside to get wherever they want to go without any real problems, with the added benefit of the stream of zombies being reasonably split between the groups as well (so you aren't hit with the full force at once, only just as many as you normally would be at the beginning of a round). Keep in mind that getting Stamin-Up is vital to this strategy, or else you won't be moving fast enough for everyone to be able to buy the perks before the horde catches up
  25. I never understood why people like the ray gun so much, I'll happily switch it out for an assault rifle at the box. However, I will admit it is useful on this map for dealing with the monkeys, but the Sickle seems to do the job pretty well too. It also seems to get much easier the more people who go down, when there are 3 or 4 people in one place, the zombie's targeting gets screwy and their movements become harder to predict. If there are only a few people in each spot, you can herd them together easier and pick 'em off at your leisure. When I was playing yesterday, I went down and lost my guns in the 20's, but the rest of my team went down at the beginning of the next round. So I was on my lonesome, but even with no ammo I was able to get the maximum spawn, herd into a group, and just walk through the level picking up a couple wall SMG's and juggernog without too much of a problem. However, I found that if you use the strategy of moving between herd points, the stream of zombies gets pretty thin, so you have a long column instead of a dense group when you get to the new point. With this in mind, when you enter the PHP pad, only circle counter-clockwise, since that gives you the option of trying to break through the stream at the opening, or just jumping off the metal catwalk if its too thick. The stream got thin for me because of how I was forcing ammo; since I wanted the SMG from the juggernog room and the MPK5, I would run from the PHPpad through the start room and then back up through 'nog to the pad. Doing so meant that the group following me was having to jump down the catwalk in the first room, apparently one at a time, greatly spreading them out (making them harder to kill). Since this isn't the case when running between the PAP room and the PHPpad, I don't think its a problem. Of course, between the two points is also a fire trap, which I used more than once to kill off a max-spawn horde.
