"In the future world of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, global superpowers compete for scarce Rare Earth Elements, which are actually being used today to make consumer electronics like smartphones and tablets. What RAE-rich devices do you own that you could not live without?" From the CoD Facebook page back in May.

Zombies release countdown and DLC news.
Shooter replied to punkrockzombie's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Was just thinking, maybe you could add new features that will be added to zombies: Stat tracking: Zombie fans will now have "extensive stats" attached to their monster hunting sessions, much like multiplayer fans have in the competitive part of the game. Leaderboards: Stat tracking transitions into leaderboards for each zombie mode and can be broken down in detailed ways, like ranking based on maps. As an example, Lamia says players could check rankings for Survival in one particular area. "That will have its own leaderboard," Lamia added, mentioning detailed breakdowns for the other modes as well. "A lot more leaderboards, a lot more stats." Improved Matchmaking: Using the multiplayer system, the game will attempt to match players faster than it has in the past. Because stats are tracked, Lamia says, Treyarch "will do [its] best" to match players with similar skill in the zombies mode. Of course, players can jump in and play with friends or anyone of varied skill levels if they choose. Custom Games: "Now we're going to let you create custom games of the modes I just talked about," Lamia says. Creating a custom zombie game, players can make a series of decisions including setting a starting round (with players given points at the beginning of the match that are relative to the round choice, so players can purchase weapons and items to help them survive), you can set challenges like 'Headshots Only' at the beginning of the match or at specific rounds, turn magic items off (no perk machines, no 'Pack-a-Punch,' no mystery boxes). Lamia says there will be a laundry list of tweaks players can make. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/26/call- ... re_twitter -
Zombies release countdown and DLC news.
Shooter replied to punkrockzombie's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I agree with this. Just keep it everything related to the release to BO2 day by day. Just keep it as detailed as possible like you have and find everything you can for each day. Keep updating it and it'll be an awesome thread all the way up til the release. You've done a great job with the formatting, feedback, and updates with this and people have definately taken notice. Keep up the good work. EDIT: Don't worry, we've only just seen the first trailer. I'm sure we're going to continue to see more and more as we near the release. The thread should hold strong as it is for now. I applaud your enthusiam though, but I'd keep it as is. -
Now THAT would be a rewarding Easter Egg! Best Easter Egg reward ever. I agree with all of this except the last sentence. Richtofen wouldn't help the new crew or old crew in any way as he's in control of the zombies (hence the blue eyes). Maxis however is a viable option as he's still trapped in Aether, able to communicate via electronic devices, and wants to help the old gang help stop Richtofen. He could tell the new gang what to do to get the radio tower working. I'm beginning to wonder what the DLC will be like for this. Could we be seeing more multi-level maps in the future? If so this story could be HUGE.

MMX is correct. They are not "zombie dogs". We know from the Der Riese radios that the Hellhound was born from Maxis and Richtofen teleporting Fluffy in test number 5 at Der Riese. I'm under the strong impression that the dog was sent to Aether, as you pass through Aether when teleporting with an MDT or Gersch Device. When the dog returns back to Der Riese during test number six, it arrives from an electrical energy and is in Hellhound form like we see in the maps. So technically, I'd think you could call em Aetherhounds Whatever that is, it's certainly not reanimation simply due to 115. EDIT: Back on topic. I really doubt (and hope) we don't see something like a giant mutated rat haha. I'd assume it's sort of just a reference to a disgusting beast of some sort that lives in the forest. Perhaps mutated beings, or "mutators". Perhaps these "mutators" can latch on to you and mutate you.

THE ORIGINAL FOUR WILL RETURN! (In "some form")
Shooter replied to Flammenwerfer's topic in General Zombies Discussion
YES!!! "not playable in TranZit". I think we'll see them return in the survival/ classic mode. I hope the two coincide, ie new gang in TranZit help bring the gang back to Earth and they do their own Easter Eggs in their survival mode. That'd be awesome. Just happy to hear they're returning in some "form". -
Glad to have you back! While I don't recognize your name, I look forward to reading your posts in the future. Seems like you're very well composed and have a positive attitude. We're lucky to have you back.

Jet engine powered hand cannon. (New "wonder weapon") 10/18
Shooter replied to Shooter's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Well technically it is high pressure gas at some point. When the high air pressure rushes into the compustion area, it is combined with a gas (jet fuel). The mixture is then ignited, and thrust is produced from the combustion process. So technically, it is gas pressure in very loose terms. Here's a short article on how the process works: That's true. While a gas turbine engine does produce a trmendous amount of thrust and heat, it's generally not enough to cause instant death or a gigantic blast. But if there was a way to store this energy, and release the buildup once it reaches max RPM. If that's possible the weapon could produce a blast of extremely hot air pressure equivalent to multiple Thundergun shots. -
Could well be as the achievement plus the fact that there seems to have been a volcanic eruption in TranZit. Could Richtofen have raised this tower to reach for higher goals? Like becoming the only God of this planet. Regards Alpha. This post soothes my soul. It's just great to have you back Alpha You certainly made the right decision to leave to staff and focus on your threads and postings. The height of the tower is certainly interesting, but might just be mere coincidence. Could definitely use some looking into. Also I think the setting is going to be America for TranZit. I really like this idea actually, and it makes ALOT of sense. The play on words could definitely be a reference to a radio tower. And the heavens that this tower is reaching is Griffin Station on the Moon. I really love your thought process behind this, and boy do I hope you're right. We've got to get our guys (and Sam) back somehow, and hopefully this new gang will be the key to bringing them back to Earth to continue the zombie slaying. I like it! I totally agree with this. There is certainly a strong connection to the Vril-ya in the storyline of zombies, but people can get out of hand with it. While the novel describes the Vril-ya as capable of almost anything, it is all too often used as a scapegoat to support major flaws in a theory. You've got to have more support than "it's vril ya, they're capable of anything".

I'm 100% sure it is a robot.

Good day folks. Today I'm going to discuss a theory on this new "wonder weapon" we've seen in the Zombies Reveal trailer. I recently replied to another topic regarding this weapon, and it got me brainstorming. The discussion started over this picture. I think the RPM they're referring to is Revolutions Per Minute, not Rounds Per Minute. 80,000 RPMs is significantly high for a spinning object. Most car engines have a redline of 8 to 10 thousand RPMs, with performance motorcycles and RC cars getting anywhere in the 10-30k range, but nowhere near 80,000 RPM. Whatever that weapon is, it is using an EXTREMELY high powered motor to power it. Now, that got me thinking, just what is really powering this weapon. The maxiumum RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) of 80,000RPM seen on the gauge in the picture makes it clear that there is an object that is spinning very quickly. And what's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear spinning quickly? Turbines. A turbine can be defined simply as "a rotary mechanical device that extracts energy from a fluid flow and converts it into useful work." There are multiple types of turbines, but the gas powered turbines are the most common. Yes, thats right, the same ones used on airliners. Jet engines. D9J91Iq52Bk Now review the last ten seconds of the trailer again. The sound is blatantly clear and strikingly similar to that of a jet or airplane. The sound of the engine builds louder and louder as the RPMs build. Have you ever been on a airplane, and right before you get ready to take off, you hear the engines getting louder and louder? That is the sound you are hearing in the trailer. Oh, and have you ever seen how these jet engines create a tremendous amount of air turbulence around them when they are operating? This is due to the air being sucked into the jet engine so rapidly. We can see this effect occuring in the trailer as well: I know you're asking yourself how we'd be able to hold such a weapon. Looking at videos of jet engines being tested, it looks like they'd weigh a ton! Well we have to assume that this jet engine isn't the same as what we are seeing on a Boeing 747 or similar aircraft. This would be a smaller version of those engines. But it'd still be quite heavy. Thus the need to use two hands to hold the weapon. The weapon is held by the waist, much similar to a Death Machine, and hip-fired like the DM as well. You can see the new female character holding the weapon in this manner: The assumption is that the weapon would funtion somewhat similar to the Thundergun, but on a much larger scale. Think 50+ zombies dead from a single shot. It's also possible this weapon will have the ability to suck in zombies into the compressor blades of the engine for double the killing power. We know with this TranZit mode there will be around 100 zombies spawning at once if not more, so this weapon is going to be significantly powerful. *This last part is just pure speculation, but I have a feeling this may not be a "wonder weapon" as we see fit, but a new buildable weapon. We know we will be able to build things from weapons to devices to tools and such in the game, and I believe this might be an example of what we're capable of creating with the right parts. A "jet engine gun" might seem like an extremely difficult thing to fabricate, but do a quick search of homemade jet engine on Youtube and it's clear that the fundamentals behind it are not difficult to comprehend. Also, I imagine we will find blueprints around the world that will tell us what we need to make it. Like I said, this last part is speculation, but I see it as a possibilty. Shooter Update 10/18/12 James C. Burns recently uploaded a Zombie analysis video to his SgtFrankwoods Youtube channel. In the videos, he points out the finer details of the reveal trailer. At 4:50 in this video, he breaks down the details of this new mystery weapon. Note the message at the bottom during the video, "It looks like an engine...but not for a Motorcycle...Does the word "turbine" mean anything to you?".

How does the past meet BLOPSII Zombies?
Shooter replied to Reddonkeyham's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I commented on that article in a few threads yesterday as well. While I see the story of Richtofen, and possibly Sam, continuing, Im not as sure about Tak, Tank, and Niko. Technically, they don't serve a HUGE purpose in the storyline. -
"I am so pleased, NOW DIE!" - Richtofen on Kino Der Toten "your little girl is going to be next! She is the source of MADNESS! Now die..."-Richtofen on Moon Richtofen's giving us a "sign" of his presence Oh, Richtofen, you haven't changed.
-
That's gotta be the strangest looking human I've ever seen! Yeah, it's a robot.
-
It's definately gotta be a robot. Like Mac said a zombie is not gonna be driving a bus, and if it was a human the zombies would just go after him and kill him with ease being a sitting duck and all. A really far out there idea is that a player has to drive the bus.... "I call shoutgun!"

"I am so pleased, NOW DIE!" "your little girl is going to be next! She is the source of MADNESS! Now die..." -Richtofen Oh Richtofen, you haven't changed. It's been confirmed this will directly follow the events of Moon. "In Tranzit, players will be able to piece together the cooperative multiplayer mode's storytelling" Lamia hinted that the plot of Zombies mode in Black Ops 2 will tie back into the fiction of the Moon map released last year for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops. "If you played 'Moon,' the actions you had there may have had some impact on what happens in Black Ops 2 Zombies," Lamia said, implying that players will be battling the undead in a post-apocalyptic world borne by decisions from Treyarch's previous Zombies mode.

She's no longer in the MPD Vril pyramid, so she doesn't have any of her old powers. It's Richtofen in control of the zombies now, based on the events of Moon and the eyes turning blue. 41 users currently online.....Ah, the good ol' days. What can I say besides I'm completely stoked for this. Can't wait to get home and tear the video apart! And I'm not worried about not seeing the old gang in the trailer. I have a feeling Treyarch has another way of revealing this info to us. There's a mysterious man around this forum.....he goes by Mr. X.

Firing Range is the first thing that comes to mind with Gateway to Hell.

Edit: Just saw the update to the OP. "Could it be! NOOO! Stop it Samantha!"
