I think that they meant that Nacht was the 2nd outbreak after the initial outbreak at Der Riese. It's highly unlikely that Der Riese was the first outbreak. We know from the radios that the two maps with the O4 (SNN and Der Riese) came after Verruckt. Richtofen was still doing tests on Takeo, Nikolai, and Tank when Verruckt occurred, and had not yet begun is journey with the crew. Also, in SNN's only radio, Cornelius Pernell describes how Verruckt had been overrun, and that Der Riese still needed to be contained at all costs, indicating the Der Riese had not yet been lost to the outbreak. [tab][/tab]There has never been any indication of time or location of NDU, simply cause Treyarch never had a plan for it that early. The only clue they gave us was that it was the second outbreak. Given all the evidence that Verruckt was the first outbreak, it'd be logical to assume the order was Verruckt, NDU, SNN, Der Riese. As far as the glowing yellow eyes on Verruckt, the fact that it would suggest that Samantha was in control then simply contradicts the later radios produced by Treyarch in maps like CotD and Moon. By CotD and Moon, Treyarch knew where they were going with it's story, but during NDU and Verruckt, they story of Samantha didn't even exist. The yellow eyes were simply for effect at that early in the game's development. Moving back on topic: You aren't usually this cryptic Alpha, care to elaborate? He's referring to the man downstairs. I wouldn't mind seeing Zombies finally giving that whole darker side of things a little more attention. There's only been hints and clues at this darker power, but Treyarch never really built on it. Interesting to see if they'll finally do something with it. This whole Purgatory thing might indicate they're going in that direction. I'm not sure what to make of the red yet. The red light from the mystery box and the red eyes suggests something quite strange is going on here.

Just wanted to mention a cool shout out Jimmy Zielinski made on his twitter account yesterday in reference to CoDz being down a day or two ago. Our older members know that Jimmy and the guys follow our forum very closely. While we try to reiterate this concept to our new members, and that your opinion truly does matter to the guys, it's sometimes forgotten. Well here's some more proof. Jimmy Z links OUR forum directly on his page. Much respect Jimmy. We'll keep it up! Let this simply serve as a reminder to our members, that if you have an opinion or idea on zombies, Treyarch is listening. We have a direct connection with the guys that produce the game we love. And in the day and age where fans are so far disconnected from the people they admire, it really doesn't get cooler than that. But I still think you're more villainous than Richtofen the way you mess with our heads with this storyline.

Intel from W@W confirmed that Nacth was the 2nd outbreak. Not the first. Treyarch said it themselves more than 3 years ago.

I'm pretty sure zombies in Nacht and Verruckt were controlled by Samantha and they all have orange/yellow eyes in both of these maps. Verruckt occured on September 10, 1945. Richtofen did not betray Maxis and Sam (subsequently having Sam enter he pyramid) until sometime after October 1st, 1945. We know this is a fact based on the radio. Samantha wasn't in charge or the zombies during Verruckt. My best guess would be that Treyarh added the eye colors when the maps were updated for BO, similar to how they added the O4 to the maps. And Nacht, well, no one knows when it occured, except that it occured after Verruckt.

+100 That solves that matter. Good thinking MMX!

I'm pretty sure the steam engine link is referring to the Trample Steam seen on Die Rise. This is interesting nonetheless. Thanks for posting this!

Lol, like I just said above.

The Water Tower on Alcatraz Island was built in 1941. It's not the 1930's.

There is some great discussion going on here people! But before we continue, I feel I should address a few things. 1. Please refrain from discussing how the guns can be used to determine the date. If you want to discuss how the guns are canon to the story, do it on another thread. Anyone that dealt with the story during BO knows not to use the weapons to base your theory. I don't mean to be rude, but it is something I simply will not take into consideration. Wonder Weapons and special Grenades can be crucial to the story, the other guns however do not. Futuristic weapons have appeared in zombies because the rest of the game is based in the future. Simple as that. 2. Many of you have reached the conclusion that MotD will be much like CotD, in that the actors are playing themselves in the map, as they film a movie at Alcatraz. These seems quite plausible considering the similarities. Now, if this is indeed true and the actors are playing themselves, this MUST mean the map is set somewhere in AT LEAST the 1980's based on Ray Liotta's age, if not much closer to the present day. Hell, Liotta wasn't even born until 1954. As of right now, we aren't sure if they are indeed playing themselves, but if they are, we are looking at a much later date than 1941. I'm not gonna jump to any conclusions though until we recover more info.

Hey Sage! Why did you decide to create another account? Could you not access the old one? Anywho, thanks or making intro for us. And storyline eh? My kinda guy! Welcome again. :)
-
Welcome Ragawaga! Agreed, the maps have been less and less frightening as they've progressed. I think Infest is right though. If everything we've seen thus far is any kid of indication, Mob of the Dead should bring back some of those forgotten chills from the W@W days. Thanks again for signing up and making the intro. See you around the forum!

Subliminal Image is "Solitary Confinement 14"
Shooter replied to Grupo935's topic in Mob of the Dead
Great find and good job researching this! Who knows what awaits our mobsters in Cell 14. Good stuff Grupo935! -
If the Vril-Ya reenter the story in MotD, I might just poop my pants. I hope you're right my friend.

What's up Naitrax! I know I've already seen you around the forum, but hello again! Thanks for taking the time to make an introduction! It's great to see the enthusiasm you have for this site and the community. We're lucky to have you.

BACK ON TOPIC So, let's list some main facts about E.J. (not you, Electric Jesus). 1. He arrived in 1934. 2. He left in 1947. 3. He was an Associate Warden. 3. He was present for many of the escape attempts. Something that our new crew was trying to do. Thus, if this man is indeed the zombie we see here, then we have a possible time frame of 1934 - 1947. Good stuff. It's too early to tell, but this could very well prove true. And god I hope so, the closer we get to 1945, the more everything starts to add up.

Haha, so just pulling dates out of nowhere are we? No, PINNAZ posted the exact model of the Thompson used in the trailer and it was made/used/gained the most popularity in 1938. lol Guns have been proven multiple times to not be canon when determining a time frame for a map. There's too many contradictions. This has been proven on many occasions over the years. If you wish to discuss this further, please PM me and I'll gladly explain it further. We need to stay on topic here.

Hello everyone! With a new map comes a new discussion on the possible date, so I'd like to get that discussion going right now. Now I know what you're thinking. Treyarch told us Shooter! It's prohibition era, which means it takes place sometime between 1920-1933. But let's look closer... "Alcatraz has had so many different incarnations. We can start playing with the history there. So you got like the 1920's going into the 1930's, and the Prohibition Era going in there. That then breeds certain characters in that time period." - Jason Blundell. Executive Producer. That time period. These mobsters we play as were a part of the prohibition/bootlegging period going on from 1920-1933, but that is not when our map is dated to. This sentence was referring to what the characters in the map are based off of. Need more proof? "The United States Disciplinary Barracks on Alcatraz was acquired by the United States Department of Justice on October 12, 1933, and the island became a Federal Bureau of Prisons federal prison in August 1934. Alcatraz was designed to hold prisoners who continuously caused trouble at other federal prisons.[22] At 9:40 am in the morning of August 11, 1934, the first batch of 137 prisoners arrived at Alcatraz" Alcatraz was not made into a federal prison until 1934. And how do we know Alcatraz was a US prison during Mob of the Dead. Simple. UNITED STATES PENITENTARY So there we have it, we're narrowing down the date. So it's PAST 1934. But there's more... Take a close look. What you'll notice on the right hand side is a Water Tower and a lighthouse. Let's narrow down that date more. "As Alcatraz had no water supply of its own, it had to import it from the mainland, brought by tug and barge.[4] During the island's military years, there were in-ground water tanks and water tanks were situated on the roof of the citadel. The water tower was built in 1940–41 by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, after the island received a government renovations grant to supply the majority of the island's fresh water. There we have it. So far, we can narrow down MotD's date to sometime PAST 1941. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcatraz_I ... ary_prison http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcatraz_Water_Tower As you can see, Treyarch has chosen to not only use these celebrities to voice the characters, but they've also used the actors to base the looks of characters, creating replicas of the actors themselves. In the comparisons, they do seem a bit younger, but it's hard to tell, but that's not important. What's important is that Treyarch has taken the time to recreate these actors entirely. Now the question. Would Treyarch really go through all the trouble of duplicating these actors head to toe, if we're not going to be playing as themselves in the map. Logically, it seem like we will play as the actors themselves, much like we did in Call of the Dead. It's still possible that Treyarch just decided to use these actors to model the players because they represent iconic faces in mobster pop culture. Seems unlikely to me, but possible. If these are indeed not actors making a movie gone a stray, and the characters are actually prisoners from Alcatraz and not actors, then yes you're correct. Let's keep digging people. Shooter

Mob of the Dead Trailer Analysis! NOW WITH "MAKING OF" VIDEO
Shooter replied to Flammenwerfer's topic in Mob of the Dead
Well, no, of course not. I believe that journal entry was created when they were first starting to test out the teleporters. Of course, once they teleported Fluffy, well, you know what happened. Actually, it is possible. Fluffy was test subject number 5 during the MDT tests at Der Riese. There has never been any confirmation of who or what the firs test subjects were. Perhaps, but I'd have to assume Fluffy acted much like her Hellhound puppies would. But it's totally possible. Precisely. -
Watching the video closer, the creature does not jump out like Hellhounds. It appears to be stationary, as it tries to bite anyone near it. Very strange creature indeed. Other stuff I saw: Looks like some sort of sacrifice is going on. The red beam does seem similar to the blue light seen from the mystery box like others stated. But what's odd is the way the room where the box would be at is extremely bright in the picture. I don't recall the mystery box we have now having such an effect. Also, the Water Tower appears to be prominent in the picture, and is the highest point on Alcatraz Island. I doubt we'll be building a tower on this map, but if we do, the tower will most likely be involved.

No Hellhound. Hellhounds appear from 115 electricity. These things are the real Devil Dogs right here.
-
Purgatory? They must mean Aether.

Looks AMAZING! I'm just curious on what this will provide us as far as the storyline goes. The best part? It's only two weeks til release!

This. With these damn Twitter accounts you never know.

+1000 Fated! I'm glad someone else addressed the issue. In fact, I just began writing a thread that explains the leaks policy so newer members can better understand. Seems me and you think alike my friend. I've quoted you in my thread if that's cool with you. viewtopic.php?f=93&t=30301 Again, I'm really glad someone else is addressing the issue. You can discuss rumors and make theories for upcoming and future zombie maps, but leaks are not allowed anywhere on the site. And no worries, unfortunately this is just one rule we gotta follow. Leaked information is leaked information, whether it'd be coding taken from the game's website or someone snapping a pic on their phone of pre-sale advertising at Gamestop. Again, it doesn't matter if it seems extremely real or completely fake, leaks are leaks. And they should not be discussed.
