My "Oh S&#T!" Momments of Origins Cinematic Trailer.
The Clay Bird replied to Jeager1999's topic in Origins
is this by chance up for view in the zombies menu under the maxis diary entry? like buried is/was? jw, i'd really like to view it on my 42" tv in contrast to my 4" phone lol -
loved Takeo's bit with the sword, but I thought Nikolai's axe throw was just about the coolest. plus he's my fave of the O4 to begin with so i have some bias there anyway
-
Yeah as awesome as the cinematic intro is, it isn't actual gameplay footage, which we still have yet to see any of. And thats fine by me if they keep that in the can until tuesday.

Letters from the Field - Photos & Videos from Pre-Origins

i addressed this earlier but got paged... perhaps the Sam we know isn't even the Sam talking here? the little girl Sam is named after the Samantha who is going to tell us how it all began? idk just throwing ideas against the wall to see what sticks -

so this may be way off, but perhaps Samantha is someone/something that Maxis was in contact with early on here and was such an influence on him and his actions that he named his daughter after it? -

holy shit the end. holy shit. holy shit -
they would actually only cost $30 stand alone but yes that confirms the point
-
this is a pretty accurate portrayal of when they normally release. for me it seems its between 11a-1p central time
-
ah awesome! this will satisfy me until i can buy it next week. work just got a little more tolerable! now just can't wait for the intro vid! t-minus 3-4 hours :)
-
so maybe assuming that the pack-a-punch is of course powered by 115, maybe straight up 115 could be controlling the zombies?

the "last read post" feature doesn't work here at codz, so i just go to last post and read up and reply to what i find interesting. so sorry for the inconvenience of discussing something a day or two old. anyway, just thinking about the possibility of more "era specific" weapons like was mentioned in the press release. and even if we dont get the actual cinematic trailer today (probably tues. or wed.) i think we'll get something for sure whether its another letter from the field, or a pic -

wow nice find there, looks like Nikolai is holding an olympia, but look at tank's gun? looks like a revolver of some kind, but doesn't really look like the python to me? :edit: looks a little like the executioner, but seems different.... :?: :?: :?: -

So if i'm not mistaken, Treyarch said we would be getting the cinematic intro today w/ the new A7X song? who else is excited!? damn, this will be the first time we've really seen the O4 in any sort of 3rd person cinematic experience right? we had the "Five" group, the CotD group and the MotD group, and then the animated N4 stuff, but never the O4.... i am very excite! :edit: nvm i guess it just said "this week" and somehow i read it as monday lol.... anyway still excited. 8 days -
+1 based on the image that i'm assuming is the bottle cap graphic, looks like it isn't actually "scream" soda, but S brand cream soda. of course it makes for a good label graphic looking like Scream. meaning I agree with MMX in that these are just creative little soft drinks in a old timey candy store, not scrapped or upcoming perk-a-colas

What do you guys think of Origins at the moment?
The Clay Bird replied to Fluxanda's topic in Origins
now it's been a while for me, but if i remember correctly the hardest part of shang was waiting for the napalm zombie and then guiding him through the tunnel? now that I think about it, this one woiuld be tough to do with randoms too, because of the "memory" step bcause it would take a while for you to sync up your nomenclature for the shapes. and honestly, even Ascension wasn't too awful hard I did that with randoms. shang and buried are the only two EE's (and maybe CotD dont remember) that i haven't been able to complete with randoms -

I don't know what EE's you're doing but Buried's EE was so much easier and simpler than Shang's. The last step isn't that hard either if you're playing with good people. I would put Buried as being easier than Die Rises's EE. All BO2 EE's are pretty easy compared to BO1. On-Topic: I think so far it looks great and is going to be the BO2 zombeis map I've been wanting since this game came out as all others have been a bit of a disappointment for me. I really want more gameplay though and hope the fog is like CotD and NOT TRANZIT. i do have to respectfully disagree. die rise is about as simple as can be. and last step on buried, EVEN with good people it is very difficult and can be very frustrating. And Shangri-la's EE was really not that tough i didnt think. the only beef I had with it was the tedious nature of having to do it 4 times to get everybody the perma-perks Since the guys i normally play with are definitely not "sharpshooters" I would appreciate if no more zombie EE's had a aim/cod skill based EE steps were on any future maps. Moon had it perfect I think where it had a couple steps in the EE that literally you had to kill zombies (the point of the whole damn game lol) And I think we've kinda gotten lost in BO2 as far as the point of killing zombies has kinda become secondary -
You make a good point here BS, and it shows the other reason why zombies is too easy now. What was one of the main complaints about Mob of the Dead? Too many doors that are too expensive its too hard! Exactly!! thats how it should be. thats what made der reise great and the blops 1 maps great. in der reise you had to budget points appropriately . you had to make a decision to hit the box and risk getting a Panzerschrek or getting a sure thing off the wall like the thompson. the bank and lack of doors is what has poisoned zombies. Hopefully Origins is bank-free and involved lots of barriers to clear with points... not buy giving moonshine to an oversized redneck and I hope the last of the bank has been seen with buried. maybe make it a custom option only, but with a bank, its just too damn easy

wat? :?: :?: :?: :?: :? that all sounds terrible. except the mp40, i mean its whatever id like difficult training spots that take skill. good camping spots that are fairly simple in early rounds but become difficult enough to force movement in upper rounds. black ops was a good mix of difficulty and fun i thought. these maps in black ops 2 for the most part have been too easy imo. only map i got to 50+ on in solo on black ops 1 was ascension. i'm probably a better player now, but i still doubt i could just get to 50 at will on CotD or Shang like i can on Mob or Buried. and probably die rise, but i've never done the buddha room, just cuz it seemed too easy so i always did the cafeteria room. anyway. yes i want it to be difficult but not impossible, with a rather large learning curve. something that will take minutes to learn but hours to master -

this. all we've seen is what looks like zombies sauntering in an open field... would love to see a taste of what we'll be getting in !! 11 days !! -
Treyarch maybe realized they made a mistake.
The Clay Bird replied to feedthemachine94's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Oh no, I'm not saying they weren't bad characters, they did bore me in Tranzit, but they got better developed in Die Rise and Buried. I don't mind them, but the amount of people who are almost revolting that the O4 need to be back are being noticed by Treyarch. I personally found them to be really crappy characters (besides my girl Misty), they were all under developed, boring, annoying to listen too and had no substance, they were just, bleh, bland and lifeless, Zombies hasen't been the same for me since the O4 were replaced by the N4/T4 (Not that I didn't like Tranzit, Die Rise and Buried, I do, but I DESPISE THE N4) I hate pretty much everything about the N4, so I am a happy camper with Origins. i liked Russman and Marlton as characters but thats about it. Misty and Stu bored me. They had some good stuff with the N4 but they just completely whiffed on it imo. -

The Clay Bird replied to feedthemachine94's topic in General Zombies Discussion
He didn't mean it like brother and sister, that should be common sense.... But I don't they changed the story to kill off the n4, I think it was already planned. I don't think that the zombie team makes up the story as they go. No great story is made up while its written. They usually brainstorm in the beginning and get am outline. That's why a teacher says to make an outline before you start writing an essay or some other form of writing. Yea some small things are made up as they go, but the big pieces were probably thought about before bo2 was made. And yea I do believe that treyarch has saw some of the errors of the past and are going to try to avoid those. You can see that in buried. One of misty's quotes is "I'm on fire. Not literally, remember when we were, that SUCKED." That quote shows that they know that we really don't like fire that much and treyarch know that. Is it possible that they could have had two ideas ready, one if the N4 were to continue, and one if the O4 came back? I think the zombies story is made up as they go. I think there is something to this, because the community just wasn't responding to the N4 and their story. Why would they finally make an effort to begin to give some of the characters some background and bring up things like the flesh and whatever secret project Russman was in broken arrow or whatever, and then just kill them and abandon it all together? If it was pre-planned then that kinda refutes the "no great story is made up as its written" statement, because just killing them and ending their narrative without any resolution or character development is a pretty shit story imo. I think Origins will get us back on point as far as zombies goes, and I think, God willing, a 4th title with zombies in it will feature the O4 and will get us back to glory like we had in waw and blops1 -
The fog in tranzit was fun. I always felt I mastered the map because I knew how to navigate through the fog. I'm with fated titan.... i never really got much annoyance out of the fog in cotd... tranzit its already so dark then you get to the fog. i can tell how many times i would try and run from power to town, and then after 2-3 minutes in the fog pop out back by the power. it was unnecessarily annoying and frustrating, where i think Call of the Dead's was just a nice atmospheric change and just litereally lol'd at that liam... very true. and i'm not a huge fan of tom's zombie vids, i like his minecraft ones ok. but this video was hilarious, and obviously made in good fun

on the mark II? waaaaaaiiiit a minute, you trollin fool! Yeah.. The Mark II.. I am not a fan of it honestly. I PREFER to have the splash damage, I'm just so used to blowing the zombie's feet off since the original Ray Gun came out.. The Mark II isn't as good as the original IMHO. Perhaps escaping a stick situation I could see the benefits.. Just give me a Voice of Justice up through round 31, keep your Mark II.. and i'll keep my raygun mark II wellll into the 50's :!:

since a lot of people didn't get the classic maps in black ops 1 until rezurrection I can see where you might thing it "wasn't that long" but remember the classic maps came with the hardened edition. so they've been set since long before the release in november 2011. to the point though, I don't think they had the entire story as much planned out from the beginning. because remember, a "paris" map of sorts was rumored for dlc 4 for blops1 and they decided to be more ambitious and go to the moon. i think there is far more community monitoring than we remember. They have little intricacies and images and easter eggs in the maps, and then as the community discusses them and theorizes, they take what they like and expand on it and further the connections in future maps. In fact I remember Colin Ayers at cod xp i believe it was explaining, that they originally came up with the samantha character name, because the community almost unanimously named her based on that sound the zombies made (which was actualy just a random scream sound that happened to sound like "sam") so in closing, yes i think they have some ideas laid out in advance and some possible story arcs, but it is also very fluid, and we as a community have a lot of say in where that fluid flows
