  1. Please do use the claymores though. I think you will find they help out immensely. It may take time to perfect it but it's well worth it. Claymores have become one of my most important purchases. I will warn you though, sometimes when solo I will be at one end of the map and the last monkey is killed by a claymore on the other. No max ammo no extra perk! It sucks but I can normally get it.
  2. They only work on the stairs. You cannot point them towards the wall or the monkey will get there and blow them up before they can trigger the claymore. For instance: in the Juggernaut room looking down towards the centrifuge room the monkeys come up on the right side of the stairs. I place 3 claymores on the left side pointing down the stairs at an angle that does not point at any other claymore. I put one near the bottom one in the middle and the last on top. The top claymore I put up as high as I can on the stairs pointing close to straight down. That way you could possibly get more than one monkey with it. On the stairs going up I do pretty much the same thing. The claymore closest to the Perk machine is always pointed close to parallel with the stairs. Collect as many of the remaining claymores as you can while making your next trip around the board before the zombies in hot pursuit hit them. I really don't want to talk tactics I just want to know if anyone has has had the issues I brought up and if they have found a way to deal with them. I know these tactics work very well, my average solo game is about 28-30 rounds. These things are just very aggravating and have ended several games that would otherwise have gone on for ever.
  3. Yes claymores do work, quite well in fact. When playing solo I almost always have 5 perks. The monkeys cannot blow them up if they are on a different level than they are. That is why I said I put them on the stairs. When playing solo 3 claymores pointed in the direction the monkeys come from will normally protect one stairwell for a round. I place them so they are pointed diagonally down or up the stairs so they do not blow each other up. I have not had luck with them on inclines just stairs. Now that you know try it and see if you can figure out whats going on.
  4. Ascension is very close to being a perfect zombie board. That is with the exception of these three quarks. Don’t get me wrong I really think it is the best so far but the accumulative affect it taking a toll. I have been digging for several days now looking for any post concerning these occurrences with no luck. These things drive me nuts and I really hope someone has found a fix or work around, it’s becoming a quality of life issue. I doubt I am the only one who has had these problems so I’ll ask the question. Disappearing Claymores: Between the monkeys rounds I horde claymores. Just before I start the round I pick up and place claymores on the stairwells. I’m sure everyone does the same. The issue is every once and a while as I set a claymore down it vanishes. The loss of one claymore wouldn’t be a problem but after that I cannot pick up any more. Only when the next round starts and I place those ones can I then pick up the rest. Since I play by myself a lot this costs me at least one perk. Has this happened to anyone else? If so do you know how to avoid it? Dud Grenades: Another problem I’m sure others have had is the duds. These are just a general annoyance. The only reason I bring them up is they may be related. I have not had an issue with any other explosive weapon. What do you think? Monkey Madness/Magic perk loss: Our little primate pals continue to be the bain of my existence. Though I normally kill them with Gestapo like efficiency they will defiantly get the upper hand from time to time. When playing with friends they stand no chance. By myself they tend to be much more of an nuisance. Just as I get to a perk machine that is under siege by the little simians they make off with my perk. The amount of time they are on it doesn’t seem to matter; only when I get there will they get it. If they are on the machine and you hit them with explosives does it help them take it? If so then I believe tossing a black hole bomb by them may take ALL of your perks. I just turned off a game that did that to me. All the other claymores guarding the perks were still there. The monkeys in solo mode are a challenge and I do my fair share of screwing myself over. Loosing perks like that is really frustrating, especially when you’re alone. I believe I’m right about the explosions, just seeking confirmation from someone else. Any help would be appreciated. The game started out great and has been a blast but it’s slowly starting to feel like work. These monkeys have gotten painful, I hope they don't put the Killer Clowns from Outer space in the next!
