  1. Like others have said, the Ray Gun is fine as is.
  2. The MotD crew are original characters for Zombies. Just like O4 and N4. So they're not real life people like CotD crew or "Five" crew. They're just modelled off there actors though. So it's like if Richtofen looked like Nolan North. At least that's my understanding. I agree; well said.
  3. The Box has always been liked that. It has always emitted a blue/yellow light with a rainbow effect. Well now it is red with some other colors thrown in. No different besides the red.
  4. Wow. Well done Fated. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I wanted to tell you well done. I don't necessarily agree with the idea of Maxis being evil, but you sure have evidence to back up your thoughts. Bravo.
  5. The only problem with your theory is Area 51. We already know the USA got a lot of stuff from Area 51, so why would they need Alcatraz? But, in reality, I can't say whether you are right or wrong on a map that hasn't came out yet.
  6. Something interesting: Michael "Finn" O'Leary's wife was named Angelina Bow. Huh.
  7. Well, I appreciate the maturity in that last statement in the matter, Electric. Thank you.
  8. Good call way!
  9. Well I never believed it, but I literally did not have the capability of testing this, since I did all the Easter Eggs in order. But I guess if you guys say so. : / Seems a rather conniving way to force consumers to buy all the map packs. They should just have a Zombies Map Pack...
  10. First and foremost, I just want to say that the data for this is largely due to the works of Tom852 for Black Ops II and BinSys for Black Ops and World at War. Check them out here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Tom852000123 https://www.youtube.com/user/ZMSBin I would also like to say that, despite they are the sources of my data, they are not affiliated with what I have done with it. That is to say that my analysis of the data may or may not differ from what they interpret. This thread is not a regurgitation of their data but rather an amalgamation and categorization. Tom's ranking of the Black Ops II weapons will differ from mine despite the use of the same data. ~~~ Okay, so let's get started. For you people who like to skip to the end, here is a list of the weapons in their Weapon Classes, ranked from best to worst in each category. So now, let's get into the why and the how. Let's start with distinguishing like weaponry, specifically the: 1. Model 67 Frag Grenade versus Fragmentation Grenade 2. M18 A1 Claymore versus CT6 A2 Claymore 3. BAR versus Deployable BAR 4. Kar98k versus Scoped Kar98k 5. M1911 versus Colt M1911 Are these different weapons? Yes. 1. The Model 67 Frag Grenade and Fragmentation Grenade are two different models of grenades. Not only do they look different, but the latter deals slightly higher damage and emits a different sound when exploded. Sound familiar? Because that is exactly the same relationship between the Stielhandgranates and the Model 67 Frag Grenades. The short-name for both the Model 67 Frag Grenades and the Fragmentation Grenades is Frag Grenades. Therefore the long names of both need to be used when referring to either in the context of the other. The Fragmentation Grenades are standard grenades used in the future; Model 67 Frag Grenades in the Cold War; Stielhandgranates in World War II. 2. At first glance, one will notice the Claymores of Black Ops and Black Ops II look different, but it goes beyond that. The Claymores of Black Ops II deal more damage, and there is a limit on how many you can place. The ones of the future are coated in steel rather than clay. Okay, so what do we call them? Fortunately, their names are printed on the back of them: the M18 A1 Claymore and the CT6 A2 Claymore. 3. The Deployable BAR is exactly the same as the BAR but it has a Bipod attachment. In World at War, the Bipod was usable, but now it seems to be merely decoration. Are the two considered two different weapons? Yes, as in Verruckt, you could get both at the same time legitimately, and you cannot have two of the same weapon at the same time. 4. The Kar98k and Scoped Kar98k are in the same situation as the BAR. In Nacht der Untoten, you can get both, so they are two different weapons, not to mention all the differences the scope gives to the Kar98k, like an extreme increase in damage per bullet. 5. The M1911 is the revamped Colt M1911. The basic difference is "new-ness". But what makes them separate weapons? The answer is their Pack-A-Punch forms. The Colt M1911, when Pack-A-Punched, becomes the C-3000 b1atch35, while the M1911, when Pack-A-Punched, becomes the Mustang and Sally. The reason for the change was to make use of the Dual Wield attachment introduced in Black Ops. ------------------ Great! Now what about these Buildables in Black Ops II? Are these considered weapons? Yes, actually, some of them are, but not all. It's pretty easy to tell for the most part; the ones that are weapons you use like weapons. But more specifically, you can tell a Buildable is also a weapon when it has the Weapon Title at the bottom of the HUD like all weapons do. This means that the Buildable weapons are: Zombie Shield Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 Sliquifier ------------------ Are the Hacker and P.E.S. off of Moon considered weapons? While this is debatable, I would argue yes, because honestly they fit nowhere else. And the main Call of Duty franchise would suggest that Tactical Equipment are weapons, so I will consider these weapons as well. ------------------ A. So now, let's list all of the weapons: .357 Magnum 31-79 JGb215 AK74u AN-94 AUG Arisaka B23R BAR Ballistic Knife Barrett M82A1 Bouncing Betty Bowie Knife CT6 A2 Claymore CZ75 CZ75 Dual Wield Chicom CQB China Lake Colt M16A1 Colt M1911 Commando Crossbow Explosive-Tip DSR 50 Death Machine Deployable BAR Double-Barreled Shotgun Dragunov EMP Grenades Executioner FAL FG42 Famas Five-seven Five-seven Dual Wield Fragmentation Grenades G11 Galil Galvaknuckles Gersch Device Gewehr 43 HAMR HK21 HS10 Hacker KAP-40 Kar98k Knife L96A1 LSAT M1 Carbine M1 Garand M1 Garand w/ Launcher M2 Flamethrower M8A1 M14 M18 A1 Claymore M27 M72 LAW M1216 M1897 Trench Gun M1911 M1919 Browning MG42 MP5 MP40 MPL MTAR Matryoshka Dolls Model 67 Frag Grenades Molotov Cocktails Monkey Bomb Olympia PDW-57 PM63 PPSh-41 PTRS-41 Panzerschreck Pressurized External Suit Python Quantum Entanglement Device RPD RPG RPK Ray Gun Remington 870 MCS S12 SMR SPAS-12 STG-44 SVU-AS Sawed-Off Double-Barreled Shotgun w/ Grip Scavenger Scoped Kar98k Semtex Grenades Sickle Sliquifier Spectre Spikemore Springfield Stakeout Stielhangranates Thompson Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 Thundergun Type 25 Type 100 V-R11 War Machine Winter's Howl Wunderwaffe DG-2 Zap Gun Dual Wield / Wave Gun Zombie Shield Good? Okay, now let's make sense out of this mess. B.Let's start with the most recent game, Black Ops II, and use that to sort out those classes. So let's now add the Melee Weapons, Grenades, Lethal Equipment, and Tactical Equipment classes, okay? Most of what we have left is WWII weaponry. .357 Magnum 31-79 JGb215 Arisaka BAR Colt M1911 Deployable BAR Double-Barreled Shotgun FG42 Gersch Device Gewehr 43 Kar98k M1 Carbine M1 Garand M1 Garand w/ Launcher M2 Flamethrower M1897 Trench Gun M1919 Browning MG42 MP40 Matryoshka Dolls Monkey Bomb PPSh-41 PTRS-41 Panzerschreck Quantum Entanglement Device Ray Gun STG-44 Sawed-Off Double-Barreled Shotgun w/ Grip Scavenger Scoped Kar98k Sliquifier Springfield Thompson Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 Thundergun Type 100 V-R11 Winter's Howl Wunderwaffe DG-2 Zap Gun Dual Wield / Wave Gun E. Now, in World at War, the classes were simpler. There were Machine Guns, Shotguns, Pistols, and two classes of Rifles. That's nothing like Call of Duty today. So let's take those weapons and put them where they best fit in the existing classes. Some of it is easy enough. Shotguns are shotguns; pistols are pistols. But what of Rifles? Well there is no need to have two Rifles classes, so I list them together as Rifles. Now, are they Sniper Rifles or Assault Rifles? Well, the Rifles that don't have scopes bear similarities to both, and neither. So I have them as their own class. The ones with scopes are early versions of Sniper Rifles, so the PTRS-41 and Scoped Kar98k are Sniper Rifles. Now for Machine Guns. The small, portable ones ended up evolving into Sub-Machine Guns, so the MP40, Thompson, and Type 100 are those. The STG-44 was hailed by the Nazis as an automatic rifle, so Assault Rifle makes sense for it. The rest are bulky and according to history ended up fueling the desire for heavy machine gun weaponry, therefore being Light Machine Guns. (Look it up if you don't believe me.) The M2 Flamethrower is classified as a Special Weapon. Assault Rifles AN-94 M27 MTAR M8A1 SMR Type 25 AUG Colt M16A1 Commando FAL Famas G11 Galil M14 STG-44 Grenades EMP Grenades Semtex Grenades Fragmentation Grenades Model 67 Frag Grenades Stielhangranates Molotov Cocktails Launchers RPG War Machine M72 LAW China Lake Panzerschreck Lethal Equipment CT6 A2 Claymore M18 A1 Claymore Spikemore Bouncing Betty Light Machine Guns HAMR LSAT RPD Death Machine HK21 RPK BAR Deployable BAR FG42 M1919 Browning MG42 PPSh-41 Melee Weapons Zombie Shield Galvaknuckles Bowie Knife Sickle Knife Pistols M1911 Five-seven Dual Wield Executioner Five-seven KAP-40 B23R CZ75 CZ75 Dual Wield Python .357 Magnum Colt M1911 Rifles M1 Garand w/ Launcher Gewehr 43 M1 Carbine M1 Garand Kar98k Arisaka Springfield Shotguns M1216 Remington 870 MCS S12 HS10 Olympia SPAS-12 Stakeout Double-Barreled Shotgun M1897 Trench Gun Sawed-Off Double-Barreled Shotgun w/ Grip Sniper Rifles SVU-AS DSR 50 Barrett M82A1 Dragunov L96A1 PTRS-41 Scoped Kar98k Special Weapons Ballistic Knife Crossbow Explosive-Tip M2 Flamethrower Sub-Machine Guns PDW-57 Chicom CQB AK74u MP5 MPL PM63 Spectre MP40 Thompson Type 100 Tactical Equipment Hacker Pressurized External Suit We have very little left over now. But what is left? 31-79 JGb215 Gersch Device Matryoshka Dolls Monkey Bomb Quantum Entanglement Device Ray Gun Scavenger Sliquifier Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 Thundergun V-R11 Winter's Howl Wunderwaffe DG-2 Zap Gun Dual Wield / Wave Gun F. What is left are some anomalies. What we have here are Treyarch-custom weapons (although we already added the Spikemore, Sickle, Hacker, P.E.S., and Zombie Shield). Treyarch has identified many of these as Wonder Weapons. In fact, everything left besides the Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 and Sliquifier have been specifically stated to be Wonder Weapons. So what about those two? Well look at the Wonder Weapons identified thus far. What do they all have in common? They are all powered by 115. Is there anything else those things have in common with each other and NO other weapon? No. Therefore the Sliquifier, which Marlton stated to fire a new form of this compound, is a Wonder Weapon, while a weaponized jet turbine is not. So now we have the final listing: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Damage Now that the categorization is settled, let's take a look at the damage. Tom852 tested the Total Maximum Damage that each weapon gives out. That is the amount of damage it will do over its lifetime. This figure is used to rank the weapons from best to worst. I used all of the bullet-based weapons that appear in both Black Ops and Black Ops II to calculate a proportion to make the Black Ops and World at War damages comparable to the Black Ops II damages. Double-Tap Root Beer II and Head Popper were factored into the decisions, as well as the primary analysis being of Pack-A-Punched forms. First, take a look at the list below, then I will explain some things about it. Assault Rifles 6,503,000 AN-94 5,363,000 Galil 4,925,000 FAL 4,305,778 AUG 4,068,000 M27 3,697,307 Commando 3,626,000 MTAR 2,874,000 M14 2,665,000 M8A1 2,618,000 SMR 2,376,840 STG-44 2,218,384 G11 1,684,000 Colt M16A1 1,782,630 Famas 1,085,000 Type 25 Grenades NA EMP Grenades NA Semtex Grenades NA Fragmentation Grenades NA Model 67 Frag Grenades NA Stielhangranates NA Molotov Cocktails Launchers 1,630,000 RPG 917,000 War Machine 422,549 China Lake 348,603 Panzerschreck 264,093 M72 LAW Lethal Equipment NA CT6 A2 Claymore NA M18 A1 Claymore NA Spikemore NA Bouncing Betty Light Machine Guns 19,014,720 Death Machine 5,980,000 HAMR 5,302,000 LSAT 4,991,364 HK21 4,758,000 RPD 4,304,721 PPSh-41 3,504,739 MG42 3,004,062 M1919 Browning 2,971,050 RPK 1,347,932 FG42 1,109,192 BAR 1,109,192 Deployable BAR Melee Weapons NA Zombie Shield NA Galvaknuckles NA Bowie Knife NA Sickle NA Knife Pistols 3,250,000 M1911 3,551,000 Five-seven Dual Wield 3,216,000 Executioner 3,142,711 CZ75 Dual Wield 2,934,400 Colt M1911 2,898,000 Python 2,403,249 CZ75 2,322,000 Five-seven 2,271,203 .357 Magnum 579,000 KAP-40 518,000 B23R Rifles 1,824,885 M1 Garand w/ Launcher 1,922,599 Gewehr 43 1,743,016 M1 Carbine 1,711,325 M1 Garand 1,197,223 Kar98k 1,197,223 Arisaka 1,197,223 Springfield Shotguns 4,436,768 M1897 Trench Gun 3,493,075 Sawed-Off Double-Barreled Shotgun w/ Grip 3,493,075 Double-Barreled Shotgun 2,028,237 SPAS-12 1,859,217 HS10 1,478,923 Stakeout 1,015,000 Olympia 506,000 M1216 429,000 Remington 870 MCS 357,000 S12 Sniper Rifles 10,632,000 SVU-AS 9,886,000 DSR 50 7,922,800 Dragunov 7,042,489 L96A1 5,986,116 PTRS-41 4,380,000 Barrett M82A1 1,197,223 Scoped Kar98k Special Weapons NA Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 NA Crossbow Explosive-Tip NA Ballistic Knife NA M2 Flamethrower Sub-Machine Guns 2,758,000 PDW-57 2,711,358 Type 100 2,027,000 AK74u 2,552,902 Thompson 2,253,596 MP40 1,544,946 Spectre 1,540,544 PM63 1,446,000 Chicom CQB 913,000 MP5 913,000 MPL Tactical Equipment NA Hacker NA Pressurized External Suit Wonder Weapons (Grenades) NA Gersch Device NA Monkey Bomb NA Quantum Entanglement Device NA Matryoshka Dolls Wonder Weapons (Guns) NA Sliquifier NA 31-79 JGb215 NA Zap Gun Dual Wield / Wave Gun NA Thundergun NA Wunderwaffe DG-2 NA V-R11 NA Scavenger NA Winter's Howl 6,532,000 Ray Gun 1. How were the Grenades ranked? Basically, the primary order was by damage. The Fragmentation Grenades each do more damage than Model 67 Frag Grenades, which do more damage than Stielhandgranates, which do more damage than Molotov Cocktails. Semtex Grenades do more than all of them because they always explode while on contact. EMP Grenades outranked all of them because of their many versatile uses. Many people don't like them, but that is either because they prefer Monkey Bombs or can't aim them properly. 2. How were the Lethal Equipment ranked? Pretty much the same way as the Grenades. CT6 A2 Claymores are more powerful than M18 A1 Claymores. M18 A1 Claymores do more damage than Spikemores ,but they aware less points. The Bouncing Betty is the weakest, although it hits in 360 degrees. 3. Why is the Zombie Shield the best Melee Weapon? The Zombie Shield is always an insta-kill. The only drawback is that it breaks eventually, but you can always go get another one. In fact, if you constantly get a new one, you'll be better off than killing with the Galvaknuckles, which, in the high Rounds, won't do seemingly any damage at all. 4. Why is the Bowie Knife higher than the Sickle? They do exactly the same damage. The reason the Bowie Knife is higher is because it takes just slightly less time to use it. 5. Why is the M1911 at the top of the its? If you've ever used the Mustang and Sally, you'd know why. It doesn't have the benefit of Head Popper or Double-Tap Root Beer II, but it can easily clear entire hordes and get the user out of trouble quick. it is one of the best weapons in the game, even if its peculiar nature makes it appear odd on the stat chart. 6. Why is the M1 Garand w/ Launcher higher than the Gewehr 43? The skew to Black Ops II stats affected the Launcher bit. The Launcher makes the Garand the better weapon, giving more damage than the Gewehr. 7. How are the Shotguns organized the way they are? It seems that the newer the shotgun, the worse it does. Who knew? 8. How are the weapons that can't be Pack-A-Punched ranked? If a weapon cannot be Pack-A-Punched, it is not held against it. In every case but the Sliquifier, a gun weapon cannot be Pack-A-Punched due to not appearing in a level where a Pack-A-Punch exists. Therefore, it is no fault of the weapon itself. The stats of such weapons are then made to reflect a Pack-A-Punched state. For example the Sawed-Off Double-Barreled Shotgun w/ Grip would have the same stats (but better range) than the upgraded Double-Barreled Shotgun. 9. Why is the BAR higher than the Deployable BAR? The reason is because the Bipod is pretty much useless, but the Bipod costs 700 more points. Therefore, the BAR is a better choice. 10. How were the Kar98k, Arisaka, and Springfield organized? These three weapons have exactly the same stats. So I had to be a bit lenient with these three. I made the Kar98k the best since it can be upgraded, despite what I said earlier. The Arisaka would still beat out the Springfield since the Springfield's iron sights are off. 11. How were the Special Weapons organized? The Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 is a great killing weapon that has infinite ammunition. The Crossbow can distract zombies. The Ballistic revives people. The M2 Flamethrower is an infinite point gun. They are ranked in usefulness. 12. How were the Wonder Weapons organized? Well, for the Grenades, they were organized by having the Gersch Device, a distractor and teleporter, being first. The Monkey Bomb, just a distractor, was next. The QED, which makes great things more often than not, goes next. The Matryoshka Dolls goes last for just doing damage. As for the weapons, the weapons with infinite damage go first. The Sliquifier can kill theoretically a pre-infinite number of zombies. The 31-79 JGb215 can kill thousands. The Zap Guns almost a thousand. The Thundergun above 500. The Wunderwaffe DG-2 less than 500. The V-R11 is a useful tool that also has infinite damage. Next come the finite weapons. The Scavenger is the most powerful, followed by the Winter's Howl, followed by the Ray Gun. 13. What was that proportion? 308115.5/678093.75 = (BO or WaW)/BOII There you go. Hope you learned something.
  11. Hacked their names on the leaderboards lest they be Treyarch beta testers. That is all.
  12. Thanks. That was pretty cool.
  13. You probably saw what you wanted to see.
  14. I think you are right that it takes damage based on a percentage of health. It is the only thing that would make sense. Honestly, the one and only reason the M2 Flamethrower was overpowered was because it had INFINITE AMMO. I mean, seriously? Did they not even think about that? Ridiculous. I mean, I'll use it, because infinite ammo is dumb to turn down, but still... it is totally unrealistic.
  15. I wouldn't say it died, just shelved. It's one of those good ideas so that there is no next move. You made a good idea. Treyarch can either take it or leave it.
  16. I know the steps of the Easter Egg. Repeating them doesn't mean much to me. What is your point?
  17. Fortunately I can speak Latin. Some of it is a bit odd. Rutruriam isn't even a latin word. Adipiscing ends in "ing", which is only in the English language, not Latin. Seems the person who put this into Latin had only a moderate understanding of the language. But it does seem likely to be just filler text. Anyhow, I'm still translating. Pellentesque id ante a arcu rutruriam adipiscing convallis hendrerit. Beating and it before by/from [rutruriam] reaching ravine/valley Okay that is it. I am done. Some of these words are just plain made up! EDIT: Did you guys see that? They changed the page FOR A SECOND to English text and then changed it back? Man I wish I hadn't hit refresh... EDIT: Okay it is back now. Don't know if it'll stay or not this time, so here it is: Anchoring the second map pack is Mob of the Dead, Treyarch’s most terrifying Zombies experience to date. Top Hollywood talent rounds out a cast of four Prohibition-era gangsters – each with a unique set of skills – that are forced to fend off hordes of the undead while imprisoned on San Francisco’s notorious Alcatraz Island. While guard towers and new weapons offer tactical advantages, survival offers an unprecedented new challenge for these four lost souls. Call of Duty ®: Black Ops 2 Uprising is available April 16th, first on Xbox LIVE® (other platforms to follow).
  18. Now THAT is staring straight into the face of ignorance; that EVERYONE is right until some higher authority tells you what the truth is. Did science teach you nothing? If information is not given, figure it out! It has BEEN figured out. Don't try to mess with what already works.
  19. It's an interesting line, but... it is just so VAGUE. I honestly have no clue how we can properly interpret that line.
  20. @Stop: Yes, those things are Wonder Weapons too. @Infest: Well, look at the magazine of the Thundergun. The 115 is not the stuff ejected but rather the power source, just like the Wunderwaffe DG-2. The electricity itself is not 115. (Well it could be possibly, but that's not definite.) As for this new weapon, I'm not going to speculate. @Electric: Yes. There's no view about it. In this world there is what is right and what is wrong. The only conundrum is your perception of it. @Gintama: It doesn't matter how many people tell me the Earth is flat, I know it's not. @Spartica: So biased. I think it more likely that Treyarch said "Everyone thinks all these Wonder Weapons are overpowered. Well, let's just make up some non-Wonder Weapons that are cool but not that overpowered." @Perfect: Strange you get so mad even though you agreed with me? I think your way of doing it is wonky, but it gets the same result.
  21. I've stated it several times. It is no secret. A Wonder Weapon is a weapon that utilizes 115 prior to being upgraded via the Pack-A-Punch. My view is right. You can choose not to accept that. Doesn't make it any less right. Like I said with the Flat Earth Society, they can believe the Earth is flat all day. But Neil Armstrong knows otherwise. I've acknowledged all of your counterarguments. I've countered, successfully, too. Perfect, if that is what you think it is, then you would actually agree that the Jet Gun is mundane and NOT a Wonder Weapon? Still though, that is basing it off of your gut and not following ANY actual definition at all. ~ Special Weapons: These are weapons that fire ammunition in a form besides bullet and 115. They exist few in number. Wonder Weapons: These are weapons that fire 115. They exist few in number. Anyone wanna add? Based on this, BOII ones are in fact NOT Wonder Weapons. The definitions we HAVE say YOU are wrong. But you're going to try to change the question based on some pre-conceived notion that you are right? How do you feel even remotely justified in that?
  22. Well you could say I disagree with the fact you choose to disagree. It's not inaccurate. There is no need to change. The definition works as is. Your biased opinion that it needs to change I find subjective. I gave you the list of what is a Special Weapon versus what is a Wonder Weapon. If you guys are really going to base it on the "feeling of wonderfulness", then I am just going to be done talking with you, as you must've discarded logic for emotion alone. The Spikemore was an original concept created by Treyarch too. You're being completely picky! Your definition of a Wonder Weapon basically boils down to "this counts because it should; this doesn't because it shouldn't." The Sliquifier obviously uses 115. It shoots purple-chainging gunk. Marlton says it is in a new state of matter. I do NOT care what your source says. You are not re-defining anything. You are simply trying to misconstrue standing definitions to encompass the twisted and misinformed delusions that some Zombies players have. And Infest, are you implying that a weaponized jet turbine has SUPERNATURAL powers?
  23. Seriously? It is wonderful. It is special. Tell me then, how do you distinguish a gun that is wonderful from one that is special? It. Does. Not. Work.
  24. Yes, you can. Like I said, you can say whatever you want, even if it is incorrect. But you are then making the decision to call something by something other than its proper designation.
  25. I'm really looking forward to this. Finally a new place to employ devilish tactics
