  1. Skill - Alvar I agree with all of what Super said. Steve and Super make the game look easy by what I call early management of zombies. They are planning their paths way in advance, and generally going for the safe one. This means they make the game look ridiculously easy. I tend to do the same thing, I just plan for tighter and more difficult paths, as I find if I don't play that way I go down much more. Playing like this for over a year has obviously given me some nifty reflexes and a real understanding of close quarters zombie AI. I utilise this for my screen shaking and the dodging I do. Alvar is more than likely the same. Results - Super or Relaxing Influence - Syndicate or Relaxing I can't decide on the last 2 categories. Results - Relaxing's co-op records take some beating, he also has the highest no downs game, and has done 100 on a few maps. Generally for his co-op high rounds, they came very quickly with his own strategy. We all know Super so I don't need to go into what he has done. I think Relaxing's longevity says something, but I really can't decide. Influence - If we are talking about a pure skill influence then Relaxing wins, but on this I have to give some props to Syndicate. Love or hate him, all knowledgeable players know his limitations, his legion of fans do not. On the most basic level of influencing others and showing them how to 'rape' train, he is easily the most influential player. A newbie to zombie will likely find a syndicate video before Relaxing, and it will influence them.
  2. I will help, but in a similar vein to Jay am not quite sure what is required. The 2 existing all encompassing guides are so complete I'm not sure what can be added. I do realise that since the guide a few more strategies have been created, analysed and worked out. I'm interested in doing a couple of specific things. Point maximising guide for both solo and co-op utilising the coding and common sense. This may not apply to random games NML grenades, the first one. I don't know anyone who attempts most of the grenades I do for the first one, and they are very repeatable. Advanced kiting methods.....let's ignore the dragouts, cutbacks etc and concentrate on zombie AI. Apart from that, I'm not sure what else I can offer. All the current strategies have been covered somewhere now.
  3. There are 4 issues I see with this. 1 - the fact that multiple people have tested with mixed results, no-one has ever proved that it does work. 2 - when we take into account that the drops are based on points earned as confirmed, and a theoretical opinion that having zombies spawned for a large number of time giving bonus hidden points....having a game with 250 downs I believe would put not only your points up but also these bonus points up. 3 - the coding stops more than 4, maybe 5 drops per round. You claimed 8. 4 - the most important point/s of all......do we really need any additional drops and can anyone be arsed to spend the time to get to 250(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) downs on round 1. Most people on this site are going to get to round 20 either solo or with up to 3 friends and are going to have enough points to do what they want with. Most people are only going to struggle past round 35 or so, when they may need ammo. However, with clever strategies this is negated anyway. There is also the fact that ammo drops completely randomly past round 30, rather than fixed as it does beforehand. Scott this has been kicking around for ages.....pretty much since BO came out. It amazes me that it keeps coming back, yet no-one has ever posted a video on it.
  4. Hey man welcome to the site. I suggest you put some more information into your post, console/goals/times etc and you will have more luck finding people :)
  5. Can is the most important word here. How many people can easily do this in NML?
  6. On COTD this setup is only really good until round 50, as you well know Yeti. Ray Gun takes around 35 shots to kill a hoard on this level, M&S takes around a 1/4 of it's ammo. George takes around 60 flops to kill, it's probably more efficient to do that for those crazy enough to go really high. Another option is to use the Dragunov as the 3rd gun, as it uses less than 1/2 it's ammo to kill. So if you kill George end 50 with it, he will come back on 52 and you can kill him again and have no ammo left. Once he comes back on 54, in theory you can use him to get a max ammo to fill the Drag again. As the ammo comes every 4 or 5 rounds though, this may not work and you will be having to flop him anyway. I love COTD, however it is a stupid map. No wonder weapon or traps (for solo) makes it a toll rather than a challenge. Whereever the box is, it's not that difficult if you know what you are doing to keep hitting it mid round. It's ludicrous however to have neither a wonder (well, 'always' wonder) or traps though. Back on the original topic. The absolute only difference between Shang/COTD and Moon/Ascension is traps and ammo. Shang and COTD are harder as they have no traps. Moon has no traps but is easy due to the hacker. Ascension has both traps and a wonder weapon. Either way the strategies aren't too dis-similar. Hoard 1/2 groups, combine and/or wonder of some description. On all of these maps the hoarding is actually easy for skilled players. Ascension and COTD have the easiest quick kites, Shang and Moon (playing the quick way) are definitely harder but not by much. I'm looking at Semtex/AK for Shang, and tunnel 11 for Moon. You could infact argue that for a lot of players Ascension is too easy, and this leads to mistakes in itself. I'm one of these for sure. Wow Yeti, this statement :?
  7. Guilty pleasure song mate. I'm doing this video again, this was a 5 min hack job for this thread :)
  8. c2KBploe1kQ Go towards the end for the really good stuff :D
  9. My last response was on my iphone, want to write it properly now So both my 330 games were played when I was chilled. My starts are definitely better though when I'm hyped the hell up. I always find that I become progressively more aggressive as I play, and I'm sure people who have watched me stream any NML would agree. Just before I hit the wall, the things I do in NML surprise me still. The gaps become smaller, cutbacks tighter, my hoarding is clean as anything. I do hit a wall at some point though, and literally feel the adrenaline start to leave, and then it all goes downhill. My timing becomes way off, which is generally when I decide to stop. I think the smoking helps me a massive amount. I can be all hyped up, but that is always there keeping me at least a bit chilled, so I'm completely agreeing with what Super said!
  10. Stoned and then hyped are essential for my most epic starts. I can then rush too much due to this, but if I calm myself a little it goes well.
  11. Just recently I did something on Der Riese MP40 challenge, playing with Steve and Seraphim. I will post the video soon........Eye was watching, maybe he can describe it for me. Down, up, mad kite and revive.
  12. I don't know really, Id say it's pretty hard to quantify what I do as its entirely situational. The main thing I do, and it's now become instinctive, is using the programmed AI against the zombies. Someone watching my NML the other day said something about brushing past the dogs.....its basically this. Screen shaking has many forms, from the subtle to the mashing. Maybe I will try and do a video on it :)
  13. Does double tap affect single shot firing weapons such as these pistols, excluding the Ray Gun?
  14. It's just a time thing Rissole that is going to get you mate. If you had the Waffe at the end of 98, you still will need to get the scavenger from the box 300 times to finish the round. 300 times. Once more, 300 times!
  15. I always want to encourage people to attempt crazy things. However 100 on COTD is just not feasible mate On round 70, each zombie has 320,000 HP. There are 18.7 hoards. The standard scavenger does 85,000 total damage, the upgraded does 340,000. This means that on round 70, you need around 12 new and then PAPed scavengers to complete the level. On round 99, the zombies have around 5,200,000 HP. So to get rid of one entire hoard, you need to use 10 or so complete scavengers, PAPed and unPAPed. Sorry Rissole I'm not trying to knock your attempt to do this, just want to let you know the full enormity of what you are doing :)
  16. When playing with randoms I don't assume leadership unless it's kinda granted to me. Once the first person asks what we are doing I just make my suggestion. Some games they will listen, others they won't. If they listen I will then normally be the leader that game. I've been doing a lot of 3/4 player challenges recently. In this things the most important thing is communication, and at different points in the game, depending on circumstances the leader will change. The term leader in games like this is a bit of a misnomer now. These challenges are done by committee anyway, once the rounds get a to certain level your teamwork really has to go up. Say 2 people are going to be running a really tight circle as a pair. Whoever is infront is the defacto leader. They are just leading the other player around, and it's so important that they make the decision on the best path to take. They then relate this information back to the other player. Generally in the games I play with my friends, and the people I plan to play with there is never going to be 1 leader. Everyone knows exactly what they are doing, and so it's more about communicating to everyone how your area or role is going. When things go wrong, the first person it goes wrong for is going to be the leader for a few seconds, as they are the only one who really knows how badly it has gone wrong and therefore what needs to be done. I livestreamed a Verruckt challenge last night. For anyone who was watching from round 26 up, they will know exactly what I'm talking about. Steve, Seraphim and I made a strategy on the fly, and then implemented it. The communication in this game was amazing.
  17. Hgoat - on a map like Ascension, you can just run circles. Try that on a map like Shang, just run the AK circle and it's a completely different thing. On the OP - I might be repeating but I understand the concept of tiredness. 20 hours one time is harder than 10 hours twice. I don't happen to agree with what you want, the no pause option, but I do really understand this point. I just believe that anyone who does do it over 2 days, in 2 10 hour session really could do it, certainly on a map like Ascension in 20 hours, they just choose not too. I was speaking to someone today....him and a friend are going to go over 100 in co-op. I didn't think it was possible, he said that people don't do it simply because they are going to be on the leaderboard. As he doesn't care about the leaderboard, he thinks it's better to go really high. He will be taking breaks for that. What is more impressive to you - Someone playing 12/15 hours a day for 4/5 consecutive days, or someone playing a single game for 20 hours?
  18. This is a very well written thread. I agree that you don't actually need Jugg to survive, if you adapt. My game with Steve last night....we both survived without Juggs as we adapted. As I said in my video, the down I had in the STG room on SNN was solely down to not wanting to waste time killing the hoard slowly. I used 2 betties, knowing that I would have a full new hoard in an area that is pretty much impossible to survive without Juggs. It's mainly about adaptability to circumstances. I think that is what truly separates the people you are listing (I thank you wholeheartedly for that btw). Letting someone die rather than reviving. Again, from my video I posted today there was a situation in Verruckt Bar where I could have saved Way. He posted as much on the video. Looking back I could have actually revived him, and am a tad embarrassed that I didn't. I will explain what I was thinking at the time though. I knew I had 3 zombies behind me, and wasn't sure where Steve was. The problem would have been if I had revived him and then Steve had gone down during it. In that case I would not have been able to escape. Turns out I didn't escape anyway, due to a bad kiting decision. I could have done another 2 cutbacks in that crappy area and survived rather than go down the way I did. These things just happen. But if I had got Way up, I would have had to clear 3 zombies and then escape straight into the Thompson room to try for Steve again. I would not have made this under those circumstances. If I did the challenge again I probably would have taken the risk, it just didn't seem right at the time. With Flopper or Juggs. I would take Flopper personally. It has the potential to lead to more kills, but (and I saw Super say this earlier on Skype) to finish a 10 minute game on the side drop or back swamp is mind numbingly hard. The best I have done on the side drop with no Juggs is 180 kills at 5 minutes, with 38 + 12 left. I got killed when they went to 3 shots. So I spent 3 1/2 minutes in that area, kiting as quickly as possible. Could I do that, at that level for 8 or 9 minutes? 1 in 100 maybe. However Flopper would enable 330 kills on the PAD with relative ease in my opinion, with the right spawns.
  19. I am 100% certain I could do a 99 in coop. I am even more certain that my life will never allow me to time to do it. I can actually see some of what your point is. You just don't seem to accept that there really are people out there who could no way do this. I have a kid man, just over 2. On the off chance that I had enough time to spare if they were away, I still have many more priorities to enable me to play for 20+ hours in a row. I understand you could argue that these are choices, but with certain things they are not. On top of this if I did manage to find 20 hours to spare, I would then need a suitable friend, who also has 20 hours to spend to do this. If I searched hard enough online I could find someone no doubt....but I wouldn't know them. Who wants to play for 20 hours with someone you don't know. I have had 20 hour gaming sessions in the last year, it's just something I've never wanted to attempt. I did 5 back to back 40's a while back in Australia, coming close to this time limit. Yeah the exhaustion was horrible.....but, a down kinda sparked adrenaline back into both me and my partner, and enabled us to keep going. I really do actually understand some of your point, but you are not believing the fact that certain people, be it through choice or circumstance won't ever be able to do this. I think that's why the guys are getting a bit riled about this, and ignoring the point you are trying to make. I believe that what Yeti is saying, is that outside of the hackers less than 50 people in the world should be able to get to the 90s on a map in coop. He believes that the punishment for playing so long, the lack of sleep etc should mean that a very few can do this. The problem is the only people who will think that are those same 50 or so who are able to do this. I suppose if you really care about the leaderboards that is a big thing. The problem is you are coming across at best condescending, and at worse incredibly arrogant. I can be both those things at times, but generally never so bad, and I normally retract my statements pretty quickly. Peace Yeti....I know it's frustrating for you, but there is a bigger picture here.
  20. 90% of my downs are Eye's fault, or Ways. Never my own fault of course Generally I down when tired, bored or trying something new. If I'm switched on and concentrating, it happens pretty rarely.
  21. Solo is harder. I've posted reasons many times before. Main one is 4 lives against an infinite number.
  22. +1 Yeah I'm adding a +1 to this. I only play with people who I have fun with.....and everyone from here I play with, we have fun. Me and Way again had a lot of fun last night....me and Super without mics and kinda failing on Kino had a lot of fun. Again, we will be having fun tonight. It counts for a lot. Super made the best point - in game tough revives are the true test of a players skill really.
  23. Not much to be honest. Here's what you need to do to lose my respect, I think that list is more relevant. Scream on round 4 that you need help at a single window, when you have a 4 bar connection. Ask me where the box is before round, I don't know, say 11. Need a crawler at the end of every round past 11. Follow me like a lost sheep. Don't have a mic (big one for me). Shoot any zombies with a ray gun or M&S the second you go down. Shoot any zombies with just your pistol when you go down on round 20. Are you trying to tickle them? This is made 4 times as bad when you are shooting at George. Tell me that I have to revive you as you have XYZ guns. I will get you if I can, what guns you have has no relevance to the situation. Kill a crawler at the end of a round when you have been asked nicely not to as someone is taking a piss or something. Be a kill whore in early rounds when insta kill is on, shooting all zombies to bump up your kills. We need those early points, so knife the fucking zombies. If we get to round 30 do you think those extra 10 kills will really matter. Take a nuke before round 10. I don't care how good a player you are, you will have my respect if you do not do these things. Just communicate well and we will be fine.
  24. I don't really like where this thread is potentially heading. As I said whilst I respect people have the choice to discuss whatever they want, watch what they want and do whatever the hell they want, this is a public facing forum. Treyarch watch this, we are only going to gain more members and I do not believe that having an MLP medal awarded out makes us look good to the 'MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO WILL VISIT'. They want to see zombie stuff....if the first thing they see is people arguing about MLP, or people being given a medal for liking it....what are a lot of people going to think. However open minded a lot of our members are and accepting, the world isn't like that. I'm sure we have MLP fans on here who would not let their school friends, and maybe even family members know they like the show due to the stigma attached. CODZ is not here to help remove that stigma from people's minds, we are mainly here to talk about zombies. I do realise how much MLP has helped some of you, even a few back from the brink of death. The world is a harsh place though, and too many people are judgmental over things like this.
  25. I personally really don't think we should have a MLP medal. The Zombshes one has a lot of merit....there is a slight stigma with girl gamers which is complete bullshit. I have no issue at all with those that watch it and don't think you should be judged in anyway....but a medal for it? This is a zombies forum guys.
