Because any good team has a GLUE guy. sort of a jack of all trades. he can do a bit of everything. he isnt a ball hog like AI or he isnt strictly a defender. The team player knows that there a bunch of egos who only want to score and do nothing else and the team player also knows theres only one ball which means not everyone can get shots so he fills in the area the team needs. Guys like this in the NBA are rare but you can think Lamar Odom, Manu ginobli i consider a team guy cause he accepted coming off the bench to help the team, Chauncey billups, andre miller, grant hill, joakim noah, shane battier, all these are guys who instantly helped any team they were put into and has the respect of everyone except for fake basketball fans who only want highlights with no substance. Then you take superstars who only score and move them to a new team or ask them to adjust and they cant do anything cause they can only advertise products but they suck on the court. guys like Carmelo Anthony or Ben Gordon, Gilbert arenas or jameer nelson
