Likewise, it seems to be a problem if I lose my connection to Xbox Live. What system are you playing on, maybe that will help locate the problem, assuming its not XBL connection issues?

I need to find a character quote
Black Wolf replied to Chopper's topic in General Zombies Discussion
It seems to be an ending to an intro...? Anyway, for such a thing I'd suggest one of the following... "It's almost over. Just do as I do, und try not to die." (Moon) "Let Richtofen's Carnival of Horrors begin!" (Der Riese) Of course, having more context on what you're using it for would help. -
If I recall, I read that people had tried to be on Earth for the impact and basically nothing happens. Furthermore, if you go to Earth again after doing such, it stays in its normal condition. Also, 115 is almost certainly element 115, Ununpentium, from the periodic table as 115 - Uup is written on one of the Der Riese chalkboards.

Personalities changes, yes, but not multiple personalities. He remains the same person with the same memories and such. Multiple personalities means having separate and distinct personas. Furthermore, the Moon radios show that Richtofen started hearing voices after encountering and touching the pyramid, but it did not seem to create an entirely different person. I'm certainly not going to argue that he doesn't have a potentially debilitating mental condition-- he certainly does, but it's not actual multiple personalities.
-
This is exactly it. It sounds like Nikolai to me, quite clearly, and the quote only comes up when he is in play. ...it's also a hilarious quote. :)
-
Richtofen was working for the Illuminati while he was Dr. Maxis' assistant in Group 935. Thus, there is nothing to suggest that there's any division between his memories as a scientist and those from being with the Illuminati. He also doesn't display distinct and separate personalities.

You odd little astronaut...
Black Wolf replied to Tankeo Dempsaki's topic in General Zombies Discussion
...or it's really the zombified remains of Dr. Schuster or Dr. Groph.... /crackpot theory But no, seriously, this is probably one of those thing that will just end up being game mechanics, as they wanted a sort of boss zombie. It's similar to the Pentagon thief and George Romero in that it periodically returns no matter how many times you kill it, so if you wanted to explore that angle, you could. The explosion could potentially be explained by the gunfire reacting with the oxygen of the P.E.S. -
You could argue that since the zombies have a higher 'health cap' as it were, but I don't think that's the point. The rockets clearly do not destroy the entire Earth, and although the zombies may have lower impact resistance, that only counts for the initial, physical incident. Regardless of what's in the rockets (though I think that's an immensely important question), the aftermath of mass explosions is going to pose a more significant risk to humans than to zombies. Furthermore, since many of the zombies seem to rise from underground, they would have had a level of protection from the initial blast. It's also worth considering who originally wanted a zombie army. Everything is Dr. Maxis' fault. Everything. :P

Need Shangri-La Golden Rod confirmation - Please help!!
Black Wolf replied to Youles's topic in Shangri-La
From what I gather, you have done the CotD easter egg on solo only, right? If so, that's your issue. You will need to do the easter egg online (not split-screen) to get the co-op achievement/trophy if you intend to do the Moon easter egg. You can, as I understand it, do the Shangri-la and CotD easter eggs out of order, but must have them both prior to doing moon. You pick it up in the lighthouse at the end of the CotD easter egg and give it to Richtofen, who should subsequently have it in Shangri-la. -
Richtofen wearing Ascension/Moon attire in Kino iOS
Black Wolf replied to Rissole25's topic in General Zombies Discussion
These are referring to the actual P.E.S. device which everyone has to wear in the areas of Griffin Station without life support. However, on Earth, before teleporting, and anytime Richtofen removes his P.E.S. (such as picking up the hacker) he is in the Ascension space suit. The removal of Nazi symbols could very well explain the change in attire, but why not just blot out the swastika on his armband? That aside, considering all the evidence that came out in Moon and such, I believe Richtofen's military role has pretty much been retconned. -
Just going to jump in here and say that it definitely broke random windows for me too, and I was doing the easter egg at the time if that's relevant. I tossed the QED down by the pyramid during the four tube filling step and a few seconds later I heard that there was a decompression in the labs. Nobody was in the labs. My teammate had (unfortunately) bled out, and I was on my own. I'd been down by the pyramid for quite a while, so there's no way I broke those windows.

My personal opinion is that Maxis was definitely the one shot. It's really chaotic to listen to, but after the shot you can hear the 'whoosh' sound of something being sucked into the pyramid. I believe this was Maxis' soul and that he is in the MPD in some form or fashion. Consider that before this moment, Samantha's voice sounded fairly normal, as it does in the Der Riese radios. There is a gunshot, a 'whoosh,' and then you hear Sam's evil laughter. To me, this indicates that whatever the events were, they changed Sam. This, of course, opens up the possibility that some fragment of Maxis' soul uploaded himself into the computer, rather than Samantha.

If you're talking to me, my post was a direct response to... Also, since the subject was whether or not Richtofen wants out, it's well within the scope of discussion to determine exactly how far in he was. The quote has potentially different connotative meanings depending on what his position within the Illuminati actually was. :)

Separate or Together (Camping and Looping)
Black Wolf replied to Black Wolf's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Whoops, I made this post way too late to realize I missed that detail. I was referring primarily to the Shangri-la bridge, but also to the Der Rise "catwalk." I call them both bridges. Don't you find that this gets you a disproportionate amount of the zombies? Logic would state that the campers would get bulk of it (math would say 75%), but that doesn't seem to be the case in practice. Also, do you have trouble with someone being willing to leave camp to revive you? ...I ask too many questions. -
Recently, I've begun exploring the exciting world of playing zombies with complete strangers. It's... exciting. In various ways. Generally, I play solo or with a couple other people I know outside the game, and in these situations, I typically employ looping (aka the conga line, the rape train, etc.) However, it seems like nobody I find online likes this. I keep finding myself in rooms with people whose high rounds far outrank my own, whose only plan is to get to the bridge and hold it for the entire game. Now, frankly, I think the camp strategy is a little boring, and I feel like it leaves you more vulnerable in some ways, but I'm wanting to get the pros, cons, and anything else from more experienced players. What do you like to do in co-op games, and more importantly why?

Explaining the Conehead Skull on Richtofen's Shrine
Black Wolf replied to MixMasterNut's topic in Shangri-La
Thanks for posting this, it's really nice. One thing I didn't see very represented here (and admittedly I didn't watch the entire hour and a half video) is the fact that some people (real, human people), often in tribal communities, engage in cranial binding to mimic this look. Of course, the zombies haven't had this done, so it wasn't a universal practice, but I think it's possible that it was a class-restricted practice... perhaps? At any rate, I'm not trying to say that it's not intended to signify alien activities, just providing the alternate (and unfortunately less exciting) possibility. :) -
Just to give an alternate perspective from what seems to be the general consensus here, I do not avoid Five because of any perceived difficulty. I just don't find anything really gripping about it. Mostly, I'm really into the storyline, and I'm very fond of the four "original" characters. Listening to the characters talk to each other is often one of the highlights of my experience, and that was lacking for me on Five. Also worth mentioning that Shangri-La is one of my absolute favorites even when it kicks my butt all over the place. So, there are reasons that one may not care for a map that aren't strictly based on difficulty. :)

I honestly never believed that Richtofen was one of the Illuminati. I believe he was referred to as a "faithful servant," but this certainly doesn't make him an actual member. He also refers to the Illuminati as "thee," which suggests an entity outside himself. He never refers to it as "us" or something he is really a part of. Given as Richtofen was ordered by the Illuminati to kill Maxis, it doesn't make too much sense that Maxis would be one either, especially if you consider that the assassination note is written in cipher. Why bother if Maxis could read it? If we're being completely honest, I always believed that Richtofen resented the Illuminati for having him kill Maxis. My theories are weird, and that one probably doesn't warrant being explained right now, but no matter. At any rate "get their hands on me" certainly suggests (to me) force, and could possibly suggest he was somehow tortured. If there's already a thread on this quote, it might be helpful to link it or ask the mods to merge them. :)

It's actually done it to me as early as round 15, and it was usually the teleporter in Z-C, past quick revive. Very frustrating and unpredictable.

The most Random theory you've ever heard
Black Wolf replied to MyLittleHellhound's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Since the catalyst for this theory was the zombies' eye colour, I'm curious as to what you make of the fact that their eyes change after completing the Moon easter egg. -
Depends on where you are and what you're working on, really. Plenty of countries use day month year format, as do many standardized academic methods. Anyway, pics look good. Appreciate your continued updates for those of us without the devices to look at these things ourselves. :)
-
The text on those things can be a royal pain to read sometimes. Have you tried imageshack for hosting maybe? I generally bounce between it and photobucket depending on which one is pissing me off more at any given moment. I look forward to seeing more images, as I have no i-devices on which to play, but I'm interested to see. On somewhat of a side note, if I recall correctly, the other posters in Kino correlate with actual stage performances, but I don't think this one does. At any rate, I can't find a play with a similar title. (Note that I did leave brains on your original post, I simply neglected to add the euphoria-inspiring emoticon. Thus, I shall do so now. [brains] )

Last picture makes it look like Sam has some weird taste for abstract art... anyway! If I may, I think it says "Sitzungen der Wunsches" which would translate roughly to "Meetings of Desires," as best I can tell... It does look a bit like a couple getting ready to have a rendezvous. Ah, zombie romance. I love it.

That's interesting. I believe you, but I'm curious as to when/where Treyarch made this comment in regards to Richtofen's character. Perhaps there was more information in the same location? Around the community, I so often see "Treyarch said..." without any source for lost people like myself to read firsthand. I also thought Richtofen being a surgeon was pretty well known. I'm fairly certain it comes up in quotations from time to time, but I wonder why you believe he was a poor surgeon. Considering his inventions, he seems remarkably intelligent, though they do not necessarily seem like something a medical professional would work on. Of course, Maxis is listed as an M.D., so one would generally assume that his assistant would also be a medical specialist. Nevertheless, I wonder why you think he was bad at whatever he did?
-
Hey guys. I was looking at the old character profiles and found myself a little confused by Richtofen's. Specifically, it says that he has been torturing people "all through his career," marks him as an "incurable sociopath," and suggests that he has always been crazy. However, it seems that some of the radios would suggest different. I daresay Richtofen sounds remarkably normal in the Moon radios, and they suggest that the voices he hears came from the M.P.D. Furthermore, the profile states that he was somewhat infamous in "every town under Axis control." To my recollection, the Axis Powers were not known as such until September of 1940. On the other hand, the first Moon radio is dated December 4, 1939. I realize that it's entirely possible that he became infamous prior to the Tripartite Pact, but that raises issues as well. "Every town under Axis control" implies areas that were invaded and taken over as well, areas outside of where Richtofen would likely have been spending his time. Of course, his reputation could have spread by word of mouth and such, but then why would Dr. Maxis have let him into Group 935 if he had a widespread reputation as a sadistic torturer? Another curiosity from the Moon radio is Richtofen's seeming distaste for Maxis working with the Nazi party and asking "what business of ours is this war?" Now, political opinion aside, that hardly sounds like something someone in the army would say. Aside from that, I find it somewhat difficult to believe that a supposedly high-ranking military officer would simply be able to vanish into a secret scientific group while the country is gripped with war. Now, I'm by no means an expert, but I think there are some discrepancies. To me, it really seems like the magical retcon at work, but maybe some of you more experienced people can help me out and direct me to other information. Thanks in advance.
