Something that has been bugging me
TheDunbarian replied to FatedTitan's topic in General Zombies Discussion
 ugh. Have my words fallen on deaf ears young grasshoper? I've explained it multiple times. Seriously, though, have fun discussing this imaginary man! Believe me, we will Even if it turns out to be nothing, we will at the very least have fun discussing this -

viewtopic.php?f=100&t=23906 ^ for anyone who wants to keep arguing about the damn poster -
I'm starting this thread because it is a debate that is interrupting some nice theory-building on another thread. So, those of you who still want to argue who the man on the Ascension poster is, have at it! EDIT: As per request, there's now a poll. To be honest, I'm a bit undecided about this topic myself....

http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/H._Porter This is about the extent of all information we have on this guy. I know the CoD wiki isn't the most reliable source, but it's all we have. And I'm also loving this topic. We haven't had any speculating this good for a while :) -

I really think we need to move past speculating whether or not the man on the poster is Richtofen. For the sake of this thread, we will assume that the man on the poster is NOT Richtofen and IS the man in the CoDZL trailer. If you want to continue to argue that it is Richtofen, maybe you could start a new thread about it? I feel like we need to split this into two different topics, cause this is getting confusing and annoying. -

Gameplay-wise, yes. Timeline-wise, no. The Wave Gun was believed to be invented on Griffin Station, in the 40's. The Thundergun was developed by the Ascension group, in the 60's. I have a theory about our mystery man. It's far fetched, and since I'm not really one for theories, it's probably incorrect. But I've given it a bit of thought, so I'm gonna put it on the table. How much do we know about Harvey Yena? We know that he was an American spy, sent with Peter McCain to infiltrate Group 935. We've also seen notes on Der Reise informing Richtofen that "it's time to kill Maxis" with the signature "H. Yena". This means that Harvey must have been in the secret group that Richtofen formed, that built Griffin Station. So Harvey's been to Griffin Station, and knows a lot about it, along with all of Group 935's other projects. Now, sometime after this, Richtofen begins to suspect that Harvey and Peter are spies (as we hear in a Call of the Dead radio). We know that Peter was killed, but what of Harvey? We never find out, do we? My theory: he escaped to America. He informed the government of all Group 935's doings, and of Griffin Station. The Americans then started experimenting with Group 935's research themselves, using the Pentagon labs and Area 51 as their testing grounds. They built a teleporter to Griffin Station. Most importantly, they started experimenting with 115 and, potentially, reanimation of the dead. So, they began testing in labs in the Pentagon and Area 51 - or, as we know them (here it comes!), the Call of Duty Zombie Labs. Harvey Yena worked with them to develop the Wave Gun, and possibly the Winter's Howl, the Scavenger, and the V-R11. That's why he was in the CoDZL testing the Wave Gun, and that's his connection to it. That's my theory. It doesn't quite connect him to Ascension or the Thundergun, but with this sneaky character, who knows? ;) -
Why not? You can play Black Ops multiplayer with up to four people on one console. I see no technical reason why the same can't be for zombies, especially if Black Ops 2 zombies is gonna be on the multiplayer engine. Sure, the screen size would be small, and I personally wouldn't play it, but obviously some people want it. Because it would be too laggy. Sometimes the lag on 2 player split screen is quite annoying. And mp isn't zombies. If the consoles could handle it. They would have had it implemented in BO1 already and I was mainly refering to bo1. Maybe and hopefully it will be possible for BO2. It should be. Again, zombies will be on the multiplayer engine. Everything that multiplayer can handle, zombies can handle.

That's a tricky one. Everyone affiliated with the Thundergun came after the Wave Gun's time. Unless someone did some time travelling that we don't know about... -

I'm trying to think about all the creators of the wonder weapons: Ray Gun - Maxis (based on plans from Shi No Numa) Wunderwaffe - Richtofen Monkey Bomb - Richtofen Thundergun - Gersch Gersch Device - Gersch (tough one, right?) Matryoshka Dolls - unknown V-R11 - unknown Scavenger - unknown (although, based on the name of the upgraded version, Harvey Yena?) 31-79 JGb215 - Maxis QED - Richtofen Wave Gun - this is the only one I can't remember, but I feel like it was Maxis, Richtofen, or someone in Group 935 So, no, I don't believe Gersch was affiliated with the Wave Gun -

True. The Scavenger becomes a two-shot kill as early as round 34. Realistically, the Wave Gun was the most useful of all wonder weapons, basically being a Thundergun with a couple mini-Wunderwaffes thrown in. However, my favorite will always be The Punter (baby gun). -

NO NO please don't give up! i'm serious. I want to know why you think Richtofen would have the thundergun and NOT the waffe... See NOW we're getting somewhere. For the time being, I'm gonna pretend you guys are right and the guy on the poster is the CoDZL guy (even though I still think it's Richtofen). Could he maybe be Gersch, or Yuri? Then that might actually make sense, seeing as both of those characters play major parts in Ascension (not to mention, Gersch DID invent the Thundergun, which the man is depicted holding). -

Guys, I think it's Richtofen on the poster just cause it makes the most logical sense. It's a poster for Ascension. We play as Richtofen in Ascension. Why would it not be him? But, just out of curiosity, say that you're right. Say that the guy on the Ascension poster ISN'T Richtofen and it IS the guy in the CoDZL trailer. What does this mean? What does this accomplish? For what reason would they put this man on the advertisement for Ascension instead of one of the playable characters? EDIT: Well, NOW I see posts are showing up that show people saying the same thing as me glad we're getting closer to being on the same page now -

Your Biggest Fears For Black Ops II

We seem to have very different opinions, my friend. I love small maps - Shangri-La may very well be my favorite. I loved Nova Crawlers, I don't know what people's problems were with those, they're actually EASIER to kill than regular zombies. I LOVED George, because not only did he add a neat challenge to an otherwise ridiculously easy map, he could also be beneficial if you played your cards right. I liked the shriekers and napalms in Shangri, too. The astronaut was obnoxious, though, I will give you that. Also, on the topic of music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyctTU_0FiM or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzBg4UyRT2g -

Alright, I've been following this topic for a while but I'm just deciding to say something now. I really think you guys are overthinking this poster thing. Now, I'm not denying that the CoDZL guy could be important, he very well could be - I mean, why would they detail a guy like that so much for a ten second appearance in a promo? But I really think the guy in the poster is Richtofen. Sure, the artist didn't get him completely right. You must admit, though, he wasn't COMPLETELY off. It doesn't look NOTHING like Richtofen - hell, it was accurate enough that the whole community never questioned it until now. I really don't think this poster was meant to hint at anything besides Ascension. The Wunderwaffe, Winter's Howl, and Nova Crawlers were just there to advertise Black Ops Zombies in general - although, I might actually have an explanation for why the crawlers were there: I believe the crawlers were originally supposed to be in the map, but were removed because people complained about them so much in Kino and "Five". Why did they complain? Because stupid people can't handle anything that makes their game a tad bit harder  But I digress... The guy in the CoDZL trailer could play some importance, as by that time they probably knew about Black Ops 2 and were starting to think about it. But the poster for Ascension is just too early to hint at the next game. But hey, if I'm proven wrong, I'm proven wrong. -

Never said it was. I don't like my metal too heavy. I like music like A7X and Disturbed, hard rock but still pretty melodic. -
That just made me blow my COLON out laughing so hard. Guys, we just need to stop with the punctuation jokes completely. Period.

Chaos Mode (game type idea)
TheDunbarian replied to TheDunbarian's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Yeah, the M1911 would really just work the same as the USP in MW3 chaos: when your ammo in your primary runs out, its just a way to get hit markers to prevent your combo from dying until you get another weapon. It won't be a problem to start with it, as wall weapons are free so you can get another weapon immediately. Oh, and thanks for the verbal brains :) -
This probably won't be in the game, I just love coming up with these Chaos in MW3 Anyways, I assume you guys have played Chaos mode in MW3. If you haven't, I highly recommend it. It honestly got me playing MW3 again... for a few days anyways. Basically, an endless swarm of enemies is coming at you and you have to survive as long as possible. Sounds familiar, but this swarm is RELENTLESS. Like, you are literally surrounded from all sides and HUNDREDS of enemies are coming at you. Throw in some dogs, suicide bombers, and of course juggernauts, and you've got, well, chaos. Basically, the goal is to keep a running combo (which can be added to by killing enemies, picking up new weapons, etc.) If this combo is broken and the timer is at 0, it's game over. Chaos in Zombies Now how can we implement zombies into this? Pretty easily, actually. With the new engine we know that up to 48 zombies can spawn in at one time - how's that for a relentless swarm? You spawn into a map with M1911, which you must keep the whole time (I didn't make this up, this is in MW3 chaos mode too, but with a USP). The whole map is opened up and zombies start spawning immediately. Their health and behavior is that of about round 15 zombies, but this wave is endless. All wall weapons are available for free, and picking one up will add to your combo. However, you can't refill ammo, so when you run out you're gonna have to grab a new weapon. The combo can be added to by killing zombies, getting new weapons, getting powerups, and reviving teammates, and in a multiplayer game, the combo is shared by the whole team. Perks In MW3 chaos, you get perks as your combo goes up. The same goes for zombies: 10 combo - Speed Cola 20 combo - Staminup 30 combo - PhD Flopper 40 combo - Deadshot Daquiri 50 combo - Double Tap Root Beer 60 combo - Quick Revive 70 combo - Juggernog If the combo ends, and time is still on the clock, the game will continue, but all perks will be lost. Perks are maintained even when going down, and there is also no bleeding out. Powerups Zombies can drop powerups, some are the same as in regular zombies, however some are also different. Insta-kill - same effect Max Ammo - same effect Death Machine - same effect Bonus Points - same effect - points aren't used for anything in-game, they're just for leaderboard purposes Nuke - same effect, but also acts as a temporary combo freeze to compensate for killing all the zombies Extra Time - will add 60 seconds to the clock Multiplier - will increase the combo by 10 Pack-a-Punch - will PaP all players' current weapons (excluding M1911) Weapons In this mode, there would be no mystery box. However, zombies would, on occasion, drop weapons that can normally be obtained from the box in power-up form (much like the QED would). These can be any weapon available from the box on that map, including wonder weapons and tactical grenades. Sometimes they're even Pack-a-Punched! The Challenge Now I know what you're thinking - "Dunbar, this doesn't sound that hard. Free weapons, zombies' health don't increase, no losing perks when down... What's the deal?" Well, first off, remember that there are A LOT of zombies, and they never slow down. But, if you can fight that off, then there's this: much like how in MW3 chaos, they'll send alternate enemies after you, so it will be in zombies. Hellhounds and nova crawlers would be the start, but then they'll start sending in screechers, napalm zombies, and zombies you've never seen before: juggernaut zombies who move slower, but have much higher health. I don't have many ideas about any more special zombies right now, but this is all really off the top of my head anyways. Anyways, if you read all that, then thank you so much. I really didn't mean to write that much, I just kinda get into these things... But yeah, that's my idea. What do you think?
