  1. If they're going for awesome lighting effects here, then they're already failing, cause if that's a sun glare, sure looks crappy... I really think it's a mystery box light, even if that's not even really a zombies map. They had to tease it somehow...
  2. I believe the old maps as we know them will not be returning. If many great theorists on this site are correct, however, we have a chance of seeing: The other levels in the Pentagon. A new DOA A demolished Ascension (Moon Rocket) A demolished COTD (Moon Rocket) A demolished and expanded NML (Moon Rocket) None of this is confirmed and is all in theory and speculation, but if these versions did return, they would have to remake the maps anyways. It wouldn't be a problem to have these back. You think one of the rockets went to COTD and not Der Riese? NML and Ascension, yes, but I always thought Der Riese would be a prime target for one of those rockets. Also, I think that even if they did include these, the classic maps SHOULD return. I don't care if I have to pay for them, I'm getting Elite anyways.
  3. This is why murders happen...
  4. Seriously, not to be rude, but there are already lots of topics questioning whether or not we'll see the return of the old maps. If the old maps don't return, it won't be because of the engine. It would be relatively easy for the Treyarch programmers to make the old maps compatible with the new engine. Some of them might be a bit harder due to the new engine allowing more zombies, but I welcome the challenge ;)
  5. Well, we already know they're returning to Earth for the next map, which I think is good. Having a map in space was cool, but only as a one-time thing. As for having Moon return, keep it exactly as it was. Also, if they bring Moon back, they're likely to bring more maps back too. I'd be quite angry if the only classic map they brought back was Moon. If you're only gonna bring back one map, at least have it be one that's amazing.
  6. I think that the few gameplay advantages suggested so far really don't provide that much of an advantage. Maybe cap the extra perk slots at two or three, so you can't become a TOTAL beast. I'm sure they'll be adding more perks, so even with six or seven slots there will still be plenty of picking and choosing. Extra Pack-a-Punches would only be unlocked one weapon at a time, and you would have to use that particular weapon A LOT. Compare it to unlocking gold camo for a gun in MW3, only this would actually be useful Also, you wouldn't HAVE to prestige. It would just be an option for hardcore zombie players. I, personally, know I'm maxing that crap out as soon as possible. Might have to do that, my gamertag is the same as on the forum but with a space in the name: The Dunbarian
  7. It has to be the 9th. I sound way too sure about that, but there are just too many coincidences! Activision likes August 9th for some reason. Maybe it has to do with the atom bomb? But, since Jimmy has been hinting at this date in such a cryptic fashion, I really think this is it.
  8. You know, I like these ideas. Most posts I've seen with ideas about a zombie ranking system are terrible. Like seriously, they really suck. Like they make me cry. Then I go sit in my room all depressed because people are morons and then all my friends are out my window going, "come on, Dunbar! We love you, you have so much to live for, cause you're so awesome and sexy!" And then I throw potatoes at them. and then I have no more potatoes. I wanna keep my potatoes, so I really hate it when people post terrible zombie ideas. But these ideas are actually something I'd enjoy. I really do want zombie levels (and prestiges - finally, a CoD ranking system I'd actually max out ), but I don't want them to affect the game too much. First of all, I think that it should not affect the classic 4-player survival mode AT ALL gameplay-wise. But I think that for the 4z4 multiplayer modes, it could be a nice addition. Think of it like this: for every few levels up the ranking system, you could get a "zombie token" that you could use to unlock something (extra perk slot, or a "trait" like you mentioned, etc.) By the time you reach the max level, you would have everything unlocked. Think about the style killstreaks are unlocked in MW2 and MW3. Then, you can prestige, reset it all and start all over. Of course, there would also be challenges. And yes, of course, the basic challenges like how many zombies you kill, etc. But also, challenges for specific weapons. Running on the multiplayer engine, it's gonna be really easy to track stats like that. And then, like you said, you can customize how that gun looks in the game when Pack-a-Punched. Maybe even change up the attachment you want when it becomes Pack-a-Punched, and after completing some big challenges with a weapon (a LOT of kills with it) unlock multiple PaP's for that weapon. Now imagine being able to do that for every weapon. It would be so time consuming. Unnecessary of course, but I'd like the challenge Finally, custom characters. That would be a great addition for the 4z4. Hell, it would even be cool in the classic mode. Of course, the option to play as my hero Nikolai Belinski should still exist, but every once in a while it would be cool to play as myself. Customizing the way your character looks, maybe even recording custom lines for your character? That would be nice as ice. Well, this post has gotten pretty long pretty fast. I probably should've made my own topic about this... But really, it was just an extension of your ideas. They're fantastic, by the way! :D
  9. In 2010, the Black Ops multiplayer reveal was on August 9th. In 2011, the MW3 Survival mode reveal was on August 9th. This, combined with Zielinski's tweets and the atom bomb thing, leads me to believe that we will be seeing something on August 9th. "As a detective, I'm not allowed to believe in coincidences."
  10. Don't shoot down this theory immediately. Yes, Kino was originally intended to be in WaW, and Five and Ascension were intended to ship with the game. But Paris had nothing to do with that. The last map pack for BO was supposed to be Paris (supposedly called "Quarantaine" - quarantine in French) but the devs (correctly) decided that the Moon would be a more epic place to end this chapter. The chair in the main menu of BO is an interrogation chair, not a dentist's chair. I think the dentist's chair in Kino is a reference to Verruckt. Yes, the guy in the video is incorrect in saying that Verruckt is where Richtofen did experiments on the original crew, but it's extremely plausible that he did experiments on other test subjects there (possibly inmates in the asylum?) I think we will see Samantha's room eventually. Probably not in The Map, though. It looks too American, and Samantha's room would obviously be in Germany.
  11. Wow, some people are just rude... That being said, some of these ideas are pretty overpowered. I think they could get away with just having the green power-ups in there, and having teams race to grab them first. Then again, your ideas might add some new flavor to the 4z4 mode. I think they'd have to be a different color than red, because the QED drops on Moon were also red, so if we were to return to there, we'd have to be able to distinguish between them. Maybe yellow, or purple? But ALL of your ideas would have to be tweaked. Nullifying Jug? Stealing ALL ammo? The only fair one was the Anti-Double Points. Balance them a little more. We want them to give one team an advantage, yes, but not destroy the chances of the other team. Even after balancing them, I think that "power-downs" should only spawn from zombies killed by a team that is getting utterly destroyed. Ie, multiple teammates downed/died, less perks, less points, less kills, etc. Think of them as Zombies deathstreaks. That being said, it's VERY important to make them balanced, because nothing sucks more than being killed by a deathstreak, and this would still apply in 4z4. It is an interesting concept though. I hope this was more constructive than "all these ideas are terrible".
  12. Oh my god, the voice of reason has arrived! This is exactly what I was saying when people were complaining about Rezurrection! Yes, it's a small map. Of course, so is Shipment, Rust, Nuketown, and Dome. And yet, what are the favorite maps from these CoD games? People love small multiplayer maps. Maybe multiplayer Zombies will be the same, maybe not. Either way, I'd love to try it out. Variety is always a good thing.
  13. They have confirmed Theater for zombies, so you will get your wish! I don't think you're correct about it only recording 5-10 minutes out of every hour though, and here's why: Your idea about the file size is logical, but wrong. File size isn't too much of a problem because the videos in theater mode aren't saved on console, but ONLINE (in the "cloud" if you will). Activision has plenty of space to store this data (just look at the Elite heat maps for MW3). One time, in Black Ops, my friends and I recorded a private match that lasted for at least an hour. We put it in our file share without a problem. The same will be for zombies. Unfortunately, this means that recording offline games might not be possible. With multiplayer no one ever questioned it because you had to be online to play it, but there are a huge number of solo zombies players. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  14. Yeah, looks like you'll be getting your wish of an urban map with "The Map". Hope it lives up to your expectations! As for the level system, maybe prestiges would be a bad idea, but if that's the case, then they need to make the emblems more interesting. Spec Ops in MW3 only went up to level 50 with no prestiges, and I just hate having the little gray 4 star emblem next to it. For reaching max level in zombies, you need to have something a little cooler looking. Also, multiplayer unlocks earned from zombies would be an excellent feature. My big idea was camos. Complete challenges in zombies mode, and some will be tough enough to earn you camos for your multiplayer guns, like a Pack-a-Punch camo, chrome camo (like WaW PaP), and maybe a bloodstained camo?
  15. It's definitely formed in space, but I'm not sure if it's natural. There's definitely some alien involvement in the story, but we know very little about these aliens. We know that they are responsible for the plans for the Ray Gun (Maxis built the one we use based on these plans) and that they also built the MPD (because, how else can that be explained?).
  16. Personally, I prefer the radios over cutscenes. Cutscenes worked well for things like Five and Call of the Dead, but I don't think we should ever see or hear our original four characters or characters from the backstory in anything besides gameplay and radios. It keeps it mysterious, more interactive, like you have to dig just a little further to get what's going on. There are still some people playing zombies that don't even know that there IS a storyline, just because they don't look.
  17. ^This. The Quantum Entanglement Device. :geek: It could have the potential to swap souls, I think :? . I would consider it plausible though. Perhaps the temple could play a part as well. If the crew arrived via "flying temples", they would be able to show her where it was and this could also aid her in getting her body back. Take a look at the Moon loading screen again: [ Image ] In the comic area on the right, we see three astronauts following behind a fourth who obviously knows where they are, and what they are doing. If they didn't, I would think the fourth would have stayed with the group. Could Samantha have known the capabilities of the vril inside the temple, and warned the crew to hang back? Samantha then emerges as a girl on the top.( a bit backwards I know, but plausible.) This would then lead to the next map being played as Samantha's body in a normal aging process. The crew may have stopped time traveling for a while, therefore they age. If this is the case, however, will our crew be old like Woods? Why would Samantha age and they stay the same? I don't know if any of them will age at all. The Map looks like it's still gonna take place in the Black Ops 1 era (remember, the Zombies team has been given free reign to do whatever they want in this game regardless of where the campaign/multiplayer goes. They weren't given this permission in Black Ops 1, that's why the story "time traveled" from WWII to the Cold War). I have no idea who that woman on the poster could be, but something tells me it will be a new character. The loading screens for Moon and Shangri-La have been analyzed time and time again and no one can seem to decipher exactly what they mean. Perhaps you're in the right direction though, it could be a hint as to what we'll see in Black Ops 2, rather than another complicated piece of the backstory. Hopefully when the game comes out, the loading screens (and "Shangri-La mountains") will finally be explained to us once and for all.
  18. I feel like we've finally struck gold with this theory. It's rational, it's fitting, there's a gold mine of evidence, and I see nothing that could possibly prove it wrong. I do think you're right about it taking place in the past. Think about it this way: Sometime in the present day (2000's) Gary and Brock are exploring the jungle and find the temple. It looks much like Mount Baigong does now (faded colors, water slide dried up, etc.) Then, however, they find the device that sends them to a distant past during an eclipse, where there are zombies. They get trapped in the structure and die (before the Easter Egg is performed of course). Sometime not too long after that (within a few years, before the temple would have much time to change) the original crew arrives. They would still get there after Brock and Gary, but still far enough in the past for the mountain to not look like a giant dead rock. Very sound theory, good sir. I think we've found our winner! [brains] EDIT: Gave some brains too recently, but I will give you some as soon as I can!
  19. Why does this post have only three replies? It's AMAZING! Such a well thought out and researched theory! Definitely worthy of some [brains] Personally, I think this would be an excellent connection to the story. I've always thought insane asylums make for the best scary stories - part of the reason I love Verruckt so much. That part about the woman who locked herself inside actually gave me chills. This is exactly the kind of "creepy factor" that I'd like zombies to return to.
  20. I remember seeing an article confirming JFK, Nixon, Oliver North, and "possibly Danny Trejo". But maybe it wasn't official. I don't remember the exact source. I heard nothing about the original four. Also, I heard of (but still haven't seen) a picture of Michael Rooker with the zombies team wearing a BO2 t-shirt. I most definitely wanna see the return of Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Samtofen (or Sam in someone else's body - Samtofen is a little too weird).
  21. This is the part where I defend classic zombies in that aspect. NO NEW STARTING WEAPONS. I believe that should at least stay the same. It's always been the M1911, there's no other way to get it besides spawning with it, I believe it should stay the same.
  22. I do hope the classic maps return, because I love them, and it would provide great variety in zombies from the start. Realistically, though, it's ten maps (some of which are LARGE), which would be one large map pack file size. That's the only reason I can think of for them not bringing back the maps, but I hope they do.
  23. I quite like this idea for the multiplayer actually. People were suggesting a character selection for multiplayer, but we all know that we'd just see, say, five Nikolais in one game, which doesn't really work. This would provide a nice level of customization and an incentive to level up and unlock things without changing the core game too much. [brains] to you
  24. At first I laughed when I saw this, but then I remembered the woman with giant boobs on the poster, and Treyarch's history of using celebrities in Zombies, and now I'm a little scared. Of course, it wouldn't be the real cast of Jersey Shore, or even their likenesses. It would be new characters mocking their stereotypes. Actually, now that I think about it, that might actually be kinda funny... P.S. There's exactly eight of them... :o
  25. I thought about this too, but am ashamed to admit that I couldn't think of any proper way to do it. I mean, the leveling up itself would be quite simple, just some XP for every kill, challenge, etc. They wouldn't have to change a thing. The problem is, the rewards obtained from leveling up. I can't really think of anything that can be unlocked from leveling up, besides possibly titles and emblems (and probably not even those, seeing as those are more the property of the Modern Warfare games). If a level up system is implemented, it would probably just be for bragging rights. Otherwise, the multiplayer zombie modes would be simply fun, like zombies is now.
