Epic! [brains] I'm still learning things about the VR11. I was reading the PS3 trophies for BO the other day and there is a trophy for doing this but I had no idea to what it was referring. I wonder how many other people knew about this... Oh, and the water strat would probably work best because the zombies are slowed and hit reg. with the VR11 is sh*t. Time to go get that trophy! Thanks yeti

Back to the roots: Nazi Zombie Ideas(Treyarch plz read!)
ASmoothCriminal replied to Mumble's topic in Single Player
dude.. you can state what you want in the next game all you want, you will not get banned. You obviously had some well thought out ideas but you have to keep in mind everyone else's opinions. You covered so many topics of the zombie game, with such a demanding tone, that people were bound to disagree. Everyone has their likes and dislikes for Zombies and you have to consider that when writing on the forum. -
Back to the roots: Nazi Zombie Ideas(Treyarch plz read!)
ASmoothCriminal replied to Mumble's topic in Single Player
Your thought process goes like this; if you want something different go play something else. If you want this, go play that. Here's one for you: If you want to play a Horde mode, go play Gears of War 2; they did it first. See how annoying that is? I'm sorry, but I cannot get behind most of the things you are saying. 2nd and 3rd time PaPs? What is the point? If you need a powerful gun to make it to the high rounds then that is your problem. Besides, this will just INCREASE the amount of time it takes to play. If you make it to round 40 because you PaPed for the 2nd or 3rd time, then the players who can survive difficult rounds, will now routinely make rounds 60-70 rather than 40-50. Increasing the number of times you PaP will adjust the leaderboards for each person accordingly. There is no point for extra PaPs, inevitably you'll have to use strategy to survive the difficult rounds. There are other things I disagree with but the main thing I noticed is your consistent assumption that these things NEED to happen and are shared by "hardcore" zombie players. In reality, you have some good ideas; but to insist that the game remain mostly the same as it was in WaW is a peculiar thought. When you've played 6-9 hour games on maps and reached 50 plus, then you can actually make the judgement on whether or not the game should change from the original format. Believe it or not, the game can get stale. Reverting to a simpler formula will only catalyze that feeling; especially for WaW players like myself. Btw, George, the astronaut, and other special zombie were added to increase the difficulty. You have to learn how to deal with these new zombies. If a retro style map came out without a new challenge, experienced players would easily adjust to the map because it would be the same old thing. I definitely agree with the MG42 and PPSH coming back, though. -
The rules of the teleporter are this: you can only teleport once per round. If you teleport during a round the teleporter won't reset until you finish that same round. How long does it take? So, assume you teleported the round before and the new round is just beginning. The answer is exactly 2 minutes. Those 4 green lights above the teleporter, those each stand for 30 seconds. Like way said, you must have had a glitch.

New Adrenaline Bar/Special Ability Bar
ASmoothCriminal replied to right_direct's topic in Single Player
an ability that allowed you to explode after diving off an elevated platform wasn't COD either, who cares. It's zombies. That was a perk, not an edition to the way the game works. It was both a perk and an "addition" to how the game could be played. My point was that PHd F. was different than any other perk to come beforehand. It was ridiculous and humorous at first, but eventually people found ways to implement it. My main gripe with zombies is that most new additions are constrained to maps, weapons, or perks. I would like fresh gameplay. I've made 50 plus on 4 maps now (Including Der Riese on WaW and BO) and the game only becomes more stale with each high round. I'm not saying this "special ability" idea should be added to a game, but the community should be open to newer ideas that could keep people playing zombies for longer, for fun and not for high rounds. -
Black ops veteren campagin help?! Pwease?
ASmoothCriminal replied to Arussianmonkey's topic in Black Ops
Right?! I randomly started playing through it today after noticing I was missing a trophy on Der Riese. I just took a break during the mortar mission in the trenches because the Type 97 AI kept shredding me after my grenades ran out. I'll finish it eventually but I've had enough for one day. My favorite part is having 4 grenades rain down on me when I'm pinned down by a turret and already red. :/ -
New Adrenaline Bar/Special Ability Bar
ASmoothCriminal replied to right_direct's topic in Single Player
an ability that allowed you to explode after diving off an elevated platform wasn't COD either, who cares. It's zombies. I like the idea of an ability bar that can be filled by kills or kills after a certain powerup is dropped. If there are special zombies that come every 5 rounds(doubtful), a powerup that replenishes the bar could work as well. Similar to the bonfire sale from the Pentagon thief. Maybe the abilities shouldn't be class-based. Perhaps, there are different abilities that can be used by every player or maybe even just one new ability shared among the players to keep it simple (like the dolphin dive). In my list of special abilities, the abilities are pretty powerful. So, the use of powerful abilities would be possible only sparingly. My ideas for special abilities: 1. a short burst of speed that stumbles zombies out of your way (could be lethal or nonlethal; used for a quick escape) 2. rage mode similar to dead island; with character-oriented weapons. (one-hit melees; Nikolai=broken vodka bottle, Takeo=katana, etc.) 3. proximity repulsion (blasts nearby zombies away from players; lethal or nonlethal like when the Thundergun doesn't kill) Keep in mind that these are just ideas and the way they might be implemented into the game could be by use of devices. Meaning these abilities don't have to seem like special powers that don't make sense(..but zombies make sense) logical problems (that aren't just delivered because I don't like the idea of the game changing): 1. the special abilities shouldn't give points (assuming they kill zombies in some way) unless all abilities grow points equally 2. in higher rounds a special ability bar is harder to fill because the zombies are difficult to kill without a wonder weapon (isn't the fact that zombies are too hard to kill the outlying problem? the abilities would just become obsolete like non-PaPed guns and all sorts of early round strategies do. Besides, most people don't have to worry about that anyway) illogical problems 1. it's different :( -
What Would Be Your Biggest Disappointment?
ASmoothCriminal replied to Ehjookayted's topic in Single Player
CoTD did have a wonder weapon with infinite damage and I don't mean the wunderwaffe.. just a correction to something I read. And Left 4 Dead looks like an awesome game, only problem is I don't have a capable pc and that game wasn't meant for xbox.. so yea. Personally, I don't want the maps to return to the bare roots and I also don't care for a story-driven map.. I don't want radical changes to the game, but interesting additions designed to increase enjoyment or the challenge of the maps would be appreciated. And of course host migration, a separate solo leaderboard, less glitchy leaderboard, etc. The Dev. team has been vocal about not straying away from the accepted formula, but I would like it if they tried out some new ideas and then beta tested with the community to see how people like the changes. This may not be practical as mp is the more popular piece of the game, but it would be great if it did happen. -
I can't really offer any total answers for this glitch, but I can say that I've been hit four times almost instantly (by normal runners on Shangri), and no red screen was displayed; therefore I don't believe it is a matter of the timing of the hits that results in the glitch. Often times I just count my hits and know when I'm in trouble. The regeneration time after being hit 4 times is definitely slower than if you take 1, 2, or 3 hits lasting about 5 seconds, and is signaled by your character exhaling (as Vader said). So, if you count four hits from regular zombies you need to pull out your ray gun (or wonder weapon) or find a safe escape path. Also, I think you can tell pretty well from the video that you took 4 runner hits and didn't get hit by a crawler, so that theory can be discounted for this example.

The Most Difficult Spots to Train
ASmoothCriminal replied to Ehjookayted's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Thanks for the catch Dougie. So, the bridge area on Shangri is a nice spot to run when you need an extra circuit. The PaPed pm63s can kill off horde pretty handily until round 30 so this strategy could work for you if you feel comfortable running that area. However, the best strategy I can recommend is difficult to pull off and requires a partner who can run trains very well. The strat entails that one person runs in the MPL area and the other runs in the AK74 room. One person needs the 31-79 Jgb and the other needs the Law (crossbow is handy also). So, each person rounds up their zombies and once all zombies are spawned in, the guy from the AK comes up to meet the person running the MPL, at the time where the MPL guy is making his pass by the tunnel entrance. From here, one person (doesn't matter who) will leave the horde and run up the hill, near the water spout, while the other guy gathers the zombies together closely. The person rounding up all of the zombies leads them up the hill, and whoever has the 31-79 (etc.) shrinks the zombies while the other person shoots the law killing every single zombie. You kill them off with the law to avoid grabbing powerups so you can bait the monkeys for max ammo (semtexs, M&S, or china lake also work). Rinse and repeat this strategy and you can make it to 35 in an hour and a half like I did. -
The Most Difficult Spots to Train
ASmoothCriminal replied to Ehjookayted's topic in General Zombies Discussion
That's probably my favorite on this thread thus far. Very useful. The benefits of these circuits are simply to have additional places to run. Also, most of these spots are only difficult to run depending on how many spawns you are getting. 4 player games will give you occasional moments of high spawns, but it depends on teammate location and teammate downs. Let me know if any of you guys run these areas. I tried to limit the number of popular ones I often see pubs running. 1) Kino alleyway(medium difficulty at best) and mp40 room turret area; both without the thundergun because that gun makes any risky circuit safe. 2) Verruckt trench gun area. This map is difficult in general and having another spot for circuits is helpful. I prefer one person to run the thompson and myself to run the trench on this map. Unfortunately, no good rounds for me on this map yet. 3) SNN in the first section of storage; usually using the trench gun until later rounds. 4) DR. maybe the mp40 room? it's the most difficult spot on the map that I run. Especially if you are getting a lot of spawns or if you have teammates constantly going down. 5) Shangri running the bridge. I run this area with normal perks, then deadshot, upgraded pm63s, and M&S. Fun spot to learn to run and an additional circuit to the spawn, mpl, and ak74 areas. Plus, you get to use the pm63s PaPed! -
Surgeon's Serum? -maybe a better name idk I like this idea for a perk, but perhaps it doesn't need to be it's own perk. Maybe it could be combined with an existing perk or paired with other abilities for a new perk. On a side note, what does it matter whether or not the perk ability is realistic? It is a game after all. If people are worried about the practicability of the perks then treyarch could come up with a bogus reason for each new perk's effects. PhD is a prime example of a perk that couldn't exist in RL by any stretch of the imagination, but who cares?

What is your Favorite Wonder Weapon and Why?
ASmoothCriminal replied to maineiacs's topic in General Zombies Discussion
My vote goes to the mega OP, easy to use Thundergun. Although I don't enjoy Kino, Ascension, and Nacht as much as some of the other maps; that weapon is easily the best for making high rounds and reviving teammates. It never becomes useless if you know how to run zombies in compact circuits and it will save you if you have a predilection for getting trapped in corners. I'm not much of an aesthetics guy so I go for killing power. :D -
Separate or Together (Camping and Looping)
ASmoothCriminal replied to Black Wolf's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I think Superhands has the best idea in mind here. Really, camping or running trains varies by round and by different maps. There are many different strategies for some of the maps that either include separating to run trains or running as a team. Keep in mind, if the map is small enough and a person goes down during a team looping strat, the revive is not a problem as long as your team knows to kill as little zombies as possible at that time. Maps that come to mind for this are: Der Riese, Kino, and Shangri-la; but at the very same time, individual trains can be run on these maps to a similar effect. As long as your team has a definitive strategy and those strategies don't collide, you will be fini. The idea that camping should never be done or is a bogus strategy is pretty strange. Camping early on and getting about 15k-20k points before moving on to trains and buying perks is a very easy and fast way to advance through the early rounds. So my vote for other would entail; It depends on the map, if a solid camping strategy is available then that's how I will spend my early rounds. After amassing enough points I will buy my perks, Bowie/sickle, claymores/betties, and go off on my way running whatever circuit available. If there are no traps on the map then I will get M&S w/ PHD, a ray gun, or the wonder weapon of the map. -
Der Riese Loop strategy (Based on a Glitch)
ASmoothCriminal replied to TroubledTurkey's topic in Classic Maps
No, I don't believe it is a glitch just an exploit. I don't find it cheap except in this particular case, where players have found a way to direct every zombie to a single window and there is practically no skill needed. Is there a similar glitch on Nacht? I am unaware. -
Der Riese Loop strategy (Based on a Glitch)
ASmoothCriminal replied to TroubledTurkey's topic in Classic Maps
Hah yeah.. I figured it would be really easy. That trick with the crawlers at the window can help you out on any map, though, and that was the main point of that post. I'm kind of new to the forum so I don't know for sure if that tip has been given already or not. I assume so as this is a popular zombie forum. -
QED Probabilities, debunking / confirming some myths
ASmoothCriminal replied to Tom852's topic in Moon
I would like to supplement this topic by saying that I have had multiple times where a QED has just plain done nothing. All I have is my eye-witness testimony to put as evidence, but I do not want to dwell on what may or may not be covered by your post Tom. This is a very well detailed topic and I would like to thank you for taking time out of your life to debunk some of the false zombie myths that often arise out of the zombie player fan base. Such myths are great pet peeves of mine when I play online with randoms and listen to them proclaim "here-say" as fact. I'm sure this took quite a while to complete this experiment and this is the type of content that distinguishes this forum from others. [brains] Best regards, Smooth -

Der Riese Loop strategy (Based on a Glitch)
ASmoothCriminal replied to TroubledTurkey's topic in Classic Maps
I have an idea for you if you intend to use this "glitch" again. Carry either 2 weapons or 3, with Mule Kick, but make sure to have both the wunderwaffe and ray gun. Once 3 zombies reach the window, shoot their legs out with the ray gun (you can use grenades on earlier rounds). What this does is creates three crawlers and the other zombies will stand behind the crawlers looking clueless, believe me it works. The benefits are: 1) you don't get hit through the window by crawlers (in Black Ops) 2) No matter how hard they try, those 3 crawlers will never tear down all the boards before you can rebuild 3) you can round up the entire horde all at once and 4) you can get max points for boarding windows each round! Now I would recommend a strategy that doesn't require the use of a glitch, but to each his(or her) own. Hope this helps in some way. :) -
The Four Guardians ***GROUP REQUEST THREAD***
ASmoothCriminal replied to carbonfibah's topic in Site News
I would like to submit an application for Richtofen with a video of way2g00 and myself playing to round 50 on Black Ops Der Riese. Yesterday, I sent a message to the account CoDzGroups (I believe that is the correct account), but I figured I might as well post in the thread as well. I believe Phxntxm has the privileges necessary to grant the zombie character avatars, and he just so happens to be on my friends list to confirm my round as well So here is proof of one of my round 50 games http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cuLXLWi ... okVo5nhO_D -
Thanks all for the warm welcome!

At this moment I am brand new to CoDZ but by no means am I new to the art of slaying zombies. So a little about my general life; I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and am currently going to college in my home city. I'm not too fond of checking forums on a regular basis so if I miss out on information at different times, don't be surprised. About 3 years ago I bought WaW for the sole purpose of playing nazi zombies, as I had experienced the joy of co-op Nacht der Untoten on my roommate's xbox. Once I played Der Riese I could recognize the differences in design when compared to other maps, the difficulty yet simplicity and the map quickly became my favorite and remains so. This is not to say that I am or never was a CoD multiplayer. During, MW2 I went as far as creating a gamebattles team and getting top 32 on our specific ladder. I believe that hardcore approach to CoD actually helped me in zombies starting out, but eventually there comes the time where you have to learn to kite and camping strategies no longer suffice(doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out). I eventually met up with another PSN user who was proficient at the game and after a few tries, we managed to get 51 rnds on Der Riese WaW. From there, we looked forward to Black Ops and I have to say I am happy with the new game. I'm hoping zombies will grow popular enough to gain its own unique game, with customization unlike anything we have seen. i.e. map design, perk selections, zombie selections and variations, and other adjustable options that would allow for the game to live longer than previous installments. Leaderboards wouldn't count for such custom games, but I digress. This site was a great idea and I am happy to have been introduced to it. Thanks to the founder, CarbonFibah. p.s. on a side note, how would I apply for the proper avatar such as takeo, dempsey, richtofen, or nicholai? way2g00 has been with me to 50 already, but tips would be appreciated.
