All map name translations. Do they mean anything?
Pascal replied to ODXStealth's topic in General Zombies Discussion
:| The name of the map is "Der Riese", which is German for "The Giant". Die Rise doesn't mean anything, it's just a pun. High Rise - Die Rise, get it? -
You know what sucks more than not getting a trailer before the DLC releases? Having to wait a goddamn month for the DLC to release on the PS3 while XBOX players find out all the little easter eggs so there's nothing left for you to discover. I know there's games like Battlefield 3 where PS3 users get DLC a week before PC and 360 players, but that's just one week, not a whole month. Fuck you, Microsoft. Fuck you, Activision. It's bullshit. I'm not going to buy a console for reasons such as this.

Why don't the new zombie maps have to same feel to them?
Pascal replied to TehGKBrief's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I really like the WaW maps, Kino, Ascension and Call of the Dead. I don't like Shangri-La and Moon. I hate Shangri-La's layout and I hated the gameplay in Moon. Tranzit kinda disappointed me too. I don't blame Treyarch for trying new and different things, though. That's definitely a good thing. I think the Modern Warfare series sucks for its lack of innovation. Treyarch will do something different again with Die Rise, let's hope it's not too complicated. By the way TehGKBrief, have you played Nuketown Zombies? It's a good (although small) map in my opinion, and it plays just like the old maps. -
So Die Rise is derived from High Rise. Makes sense, but why would Treyarch use a map from Modern Warfare 2? As far as I know, Treyarch has never re-used a map made by Infinity Ward and vice versa. Why would they start doing it now?
-
I think the guys at Treyarch have been planning to do a Paris map ever since they put a picture of the Eiffel Tower at Der Riese. Moon was called 'Zombie_Paris' because it started out as Paris before they decided to change it. It'll happen.

I got the blue eyed skull after my second Black Ops 2 Zombies game ever. Not even kidding. I really don't understand why though, unless maybe my Black Ops 1 records have something to do with it but I highly doubt it.
-
But Nacht Der Untoten doesn't have Elena but it does have the original characters on Black Ops... I guess that one doesn't count. I still think it's strange they used Skrillex and then patched him out. I hate dubstep though, so I guess it's a good thing.

Yeah I think Samuel is our 'new Richtofen'. He knows more about the Zombies than any other character and he might be hiding things. I like the idea of him eating zombie flesh as a way to connect to uncle Richtofen. Maybe he's done a lot of research on the Illuminati and that's why he knows Richtofen and comes up with crazy conspiracy ideas?

Remember, People...Our Original Four are still here!
Pascal replied to Flammenwerfer's topic in TranZit
Richtofen has new quotes, right? When you play Grief he says something like "Let's all work together now! No wait, there's two teams. The team that survives the longest wins the game! Oh joy!". I'm pretty sure that's a new line, he didn't say that in Moon. So... Nolan North had to do some Richtofen lines for Black Ops 2. I know Nolan has done a lot of voices in the past (such as Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series), but he's still doing Richtofen as well. Would Treyarch contact Nolan just to have him explain the game modes? Would Treyarch let that voice talent go to waste by giving the Doc less quotes? I don't think so... -
The second image looks a lot like Kino der Toten. The style of it, at least. First one looks more like a 'modern' cinema room. I'm curious why they chose a theater again (if they chose a theater again), because we've already seen Kino. The only thing I can think of is a 'Kino 2025', which is a cool idea, but also kinda lazy when you think about it. Though I do like the old WW2/Cold War Zombie style a lot better than the new one. Let's just hope it'll be good.

That'll save me a lot of time. Thanks.

Then they would have to make an entire Tranzit mode map somewhere in Germany. Now that I think about it. They could fit Verrückt and Kino right next to each other (both in Berlin) and have a bus/train go to Der Riese (which is near Breslau). It would be cool to have a Tranzit mode map set in 1945 but I doubt it'll ever happen...

Another PS3 player here. Just got the sound glitch for the first time. I was playing Grief on the Town map. Everything was fine until round 15 or so. Treyarch should stop porting games over from XBOX to PS3 and just make the damn game work and look good on both systems.

I haven't played Black Ops 2 a lot because I didn't have time, so this is the first time I'm reading about the music easter egg. They put that dubstep music you hear in the 'Plaza' multiplayer map as the Tranzit easter egg song? Seriously? What were they thinking? And then they change it to a Kevin Sherwood cover of an A7X song, but without Elena Siegman? I don't get it. Nuketown has a re-used song, and the seperate Farm and City maps don't seem to have an easter egg song at all. Why would Treyarch do this? Those Elena Siegman songs from W@W and Black Ops were awesome. I'm okay with changing things and taking different directions in new games, but this is just wrong. Treyarch spents so much time on the Zombie mode but forget this. It's like that Eminem song in FIVE all over again.

Nacht der Untoten was nothing more than a building from a multiplayer map in World at War to begin with. When you think about it, there's really no continuity. You can't put Nacht der Untoten at a specific location or time. It has no place in the storyline. In 1945 there were US Marines fighting against Nazis. It's never explained how they got stuck in the building, and it's never explained who wrote "help" on the door. "Help" is a word used in many languages but not German, by the way. That would be "Hilfe". Then Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo and Tank arrive but it's never explained how they got there and why they're there. It's never explained why Mule kick was there either. Now all of a sudden it's in Tranzit. I think it's safe to assume it's just an easter egg and nothing more. You can't tie it in with the main storyline because of the inconsistencies.

Here's a slightly larger picture with a doorknob, from the Call of Duty twitterpage.

Zombies: Time Setting During Black Ops 2
Pascal replied to xXExpertCoahXx's topic in General Zombies Discussion
You're forgetting something. Samantha's soul is inside Richtofen's body. That girl cannot be Samantha unless it's some kind of alternate reality bullshit. I highly doubt we will get to see a map (after Moon) with Samantha as a playable character, because she would have Richtofen's body and that will be confusing to people who don't know the Moon easter egg. Richtofen is a great character too so I think he has to be in the game and have a bunch of funny lines. I'm sure the Treyarch guys at CodXP said they made the characters as stereotypical as possible so anyone can pick up the game and play it. It would be strange if they changed that, because people will start wondering why some old Nazi has a little girl's voice. It will be either the old crew, or a whole new one. Or maybe both. Activision hates leaked information. It wants to be the one who hypes the game by making trailers and showing them during basketball games and stuff. Lots of leaked information that turns out to be true gets taken down by Activision. Happens every year, I guess. -
I get what you're saying and why we cannot post it. I think I found it. If any of you need help with this whole thing, I suggest you look up MrDalekJD on Youtube and watch his newest video. He says some interesting stuff which will lead you to relevant information. Look for #42. (I'm not trying to be cryptic, I just don't want to break the forum rules.) I bet there's more to it than this single piece of information, though.
-
So Zielinsky wants us to look for stuff, and when we find it, mods confirm that it's true but we can't share it because they don't want us to know anything. Seriously, what's going on in this thread? You guys trolling?

Zombies: Time Setting During Black Ops 2
Pascal replied to xXExpertCoahXx's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Do you have a source for that? It's not that I don't believe you, I just want to read or hear it for myself. Did they say it in one of the Blops II Trailers? It would make a lot of sense to have the zombie mode inside the Cold War era, even if it hadn't been confirmed. The campaign has those flashbacks to the 80s so Treyarch could use the same guns again. If they were planning on reusing Richtofen, Nikolai, Dempsey and Takeo, it would make sense to have at least one map set in the 60s-80s. They can't go into the future with those guys unless they used the MDT to time travel into 2025 before they went to the Moon. (I'm assuming they're not going to have Richtofen running around with Samantha's voice. The guy from Uncharted will hopefully be back to do Richtofen's lines.) I'm also still wondering who the girl in this picture is, and if she'll be a playable character. -
^This. It's by far the most logical explanation if you look at the facts. Der Riese had 115 at the end because Kino was a World At War map. Treyarch started working on the map after Der Riese, but never released Map Pack 4 because it would have been released at the same time as Modern Warfare 2. So they just converted the Map Pack 4-content to Black Ops. When Rezurrection was announced, there was a lot of talk about "ending Black Ops in a spectacular way" in the trailer released by Treyarch and at the CodXP panel. I remember one of the guys at CodXP explaining that they were working on "Zombie_Paris", but the setting wasn't crazy enough for a final map. (They never said if they meant the final Black Ops 1 Zombie-map or the final Zombie-map ever.) One guy asked: "Is this the end of Zombies?" and all the Treyarch guys said was: "Do you think it's the end?". Maybe Treyarch didn't have any Zombie-plans for their next game at that time. Anyway, the whole point of not having a song was to make people think it was the end of Zombies, or at least the end of Zombies in Black Ops 1. There will be an easter egg song in the next map because: - All maps except the original Nacht der Untoten in World at War had one, so it's a "tradition". - Reznor is working on the game. Why would Treyarch let his talent go to waste? - Sherwood is still on the team (I think). Why would Treyarch let his talent go to waste? I remember hearing that for the first time, thinking "Why am I hearing Eminem and Pink?" It was so out-of-place to have that song in a map where you kill Zombies in the Pentagon, with Fidel Castro and Kennedy talking in the background. The song was scary but the fact that George was always laughing in the background unless you killed him really took away any sort of fear. The music is also too ambient in my opinion, it should have been slightly louder. Verrückt had some creepy music aswell, in my opinion. I remember hearing people screaming in the background at random times while playing Verrückt, which creeped my out a little bit. It would've been scarier if it was a bit louder and Zombies were more unpredictable (and even faster), though. I'm not a guy that gets scared easily but if Treyarch did that, I might have actually pissed my pants the first time playing Verrückt. It would have made the whole "Abandoned Nazi Asylum" thing a lot creepier.

10 things that annoy me when playing with new players
Pascal replied to way2g00d's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Random players are complete idiots 90% of the time. At least on PSN. They're either little kids who shouldn't be playing the game, or assholes. Both of them don't listen to what I'm saying and do the most stupid things you can imagine. They usually act like they know how to play the game (if they have a mic on) but they can't even handle the first dog round on Kino. They don't open doors and they don't revive anyone, but when they go down they either rage quit when they're on the ground (because it clearly wasn't their own fault they got trapped in a corner) or rage quit when they die (because it's clearly my fault for not reviving them). I stopped playing with randoms a long time ago because they always ruin it, even if I'm being a team player. I only play with friends. If I ever decide to play with randoms again I'll troll the shit out them because I just don't care anymore. -
Why is this turning into a No Man's Land discussion? We're looking at Kino at the moment. Anyway, round 188 is impressive! It takes a lot of patience (and luck since the Zombie mode gets more and more buggy and laggy when you're running the game for an entire week).

Few last minute suggestions for 3arc
Pascal replied to way2g00d's topic in General Zombies Discussion
There shouldn't be a level cap on the leaderboards. Treyarch should just remove the cheaters from now on. That's the only way the leaderboards would acually mean something instead of "Look at me I used a lag switch to get out of the map!" -
Something I would really like to see is the opposite of this. Why do zombies always have to be Nazis, or Russians, or Japanese? (I guess there were American Zombies at Area 51, but those were generic scientist zombies, which doesn't count in my opinion.) I mean, why would there be Nazi Zombies coming from the sea when it was the Americans who stormed the beach? Here's my idea. It might sound weird to citizens of the United States, but think about it: You're in the bunkers where the Nazis used to be, and there's US Army Zombies trying to capture Normandy once again. The heroes who died at Omaha Beach rise from their graves (as Zombies of course) and you fight them. In my opinion, the Americans don't always have to be the good guys. Do something else for a change. Even if it's just one Zombie Map. Please Treyarch, make it happen.
