What DON'T You Want to See in Mob of the Dead?
Megaton A replied to JMDogg's topic in Mob of the Dead
I find this to be disrespectful. Those artists have done amazing things for the music industry and to make fun of their names is uncalled for and unnecessary. Do it in somebody else's topic. As for Clark S. Nova, we haven't heard enough of him yet. And he improved greatly from TranZit to Die Rise. Yes, the music industry is in an amazing place right now. Just turn on the radio! Everything is extremely diverse, interesting, and full of thought-provoking poetry. Like Skrillzexezss "I'ma try it out". Man, those lyrics speak to my soul. I like where he says "I'ma try it out" and the part where it goes "okay". So deep. Or that one M&M&M&M song where he talks about his mom, his baby momma, and makes fun of celebrities.... oh, what's the name of it? I forget. But since those "artists" are such great and talented innovators, I highly doubt they're going to lose any sleep over me making fun of their names. Can we stay on topic, though? Opinions... you know? Yeah. -
What DON'T You Want to See in Mob of the Dead?
Megaton A replied to JMDogg's topic in Mob of the Dead
I also like the idea of transportation. It just has been implemented poorly. For instance, if they just did away with the keys in Die Rise and let you push a button to call the elevator whenever you wanted, it would have been a MUCH better map. You'd have to wait a few seconds instead of minutes. I also like the idea of buildables, but again... poorly implemented. Maybe they could have let you pick up multiple parts at once, I dunno.... but having to run here, pick up the part, run to the workbench, run to the next part, run BACK to the workbench, then get the NEXT part, etc etc is just another way of making the map tedious and slow. But what I was getting at really wasn't a complaint about buildables so much as a complaint about the lackluster Wonderweapons and the inability to upgrade them. But yeah, I think MotD looks amazing so far. I have high hopes for it. But I also thought TranZit and Die Rise were going to be a lot of fun, so.... -
It definitely makes a lot of sense that this map was made by a different team. For many reasons. But I still don't take "This guy said that this guy said that he knows a guy and that guy works for Treyarch, and HE said that...." as fact.

Quick Revive Isn't Coming Back? (Proof)
Megaton A replied to Flammenwerfer's topic in Mob of the Dead
I don't see how we can say what would or would not be OP as far as Purgatory is concerned when we still really have no idea how it works. We don't know how difficult it is to earn more afterlife trips, if you're just given a certain number from the start, etc. What the leaderboards prove is that someone played a game on Mob of the Dead solo and was able to go down multiple times without any revives. This absolutely does not prove that QR is gone. It's evidence that it MAY be gone... but far from proof. Hell, if it was a dev playing (and it obviously was a dev or tester) they could have used whatever commands they have at their disposal to do whatever they want in the game. -
Is there an official source confirming the map was made by the campaign team? I'm not doubting it, I just haven't seen any kind of evidence of this outside of that Reddit post that turned out to be wrong about basically everything and was surely a troll. But admittedly I may have missed it if they said the campaign team worked on it in the trailer or something.

What DON'T You Want to See in Mob of the Dead?
Megaton A replied to JMDogg's topic in Mob of the Dead
If you want fast action, don't save a zombie. I think you're missing the point here. You save a zombie to do things you need to do. Saving a zombie to run and get a couple perks, work on the Easter egg, hit the box, etc is one thing.... at least you're doing something. Standing around for minutes at a time waiting for a bus or elevator is just plain boring as hell. Mind-numbingly boring. When Ascension came out I was still playing that map regularly by the time CotD came out. I played Die Rise two nights ago and it was the first time I had played BO2 zombies in weeks. And my Die Rise run the other night didn't make it past round 1 because after 2 minutes of waiting for that stupid Quick Revive elevator to build the Tramplesteam I couldn't handle the boredom anymore and quit. So yeah... the #1 thing I don't want to see is some stupid waiting around for transportation mechanic like 3Arc seems to be obsessed with in this game. It's absolutely ruined zombies for me so far. I also don't want the boss to be coming back every single round or take 5,000,000 points of damage before dying. Have him come back like every 5 rounds and have like 3 times the health of the zombies on that round and I'm cool with it. And don't multiply his health depending on how many people are in the game. Don't want the secret song to be A7XYZ, M&M, Skrillyzexes, or even that guy that sang the last 2. I'd prefer to have Elena back... though the song in the trailer sounded very Elena-esque and if that's it I think I can dig it. I don't want to see Treyarch focusing on needless nerfs to guns when there are really bad glitches in the game (there will be, there always are... but they need to focus on fixing them). Leave the gun recoil and wonderweapons alone. Fix what's broken, not what's working. As far as storyline... it's secondary to me. Yes, I do find the story very interesting, but if this map is unrelated or very loosely related I have no problem with that. A map that's fun to play is a hell of a lot more important to me than the narrative. I want real wonderweapons back. Not buildable crap that you can't upgrade. The Blundergat seems like a step in the right direction, but I don't know if it's quite there yet. I don't want an EE that requires 4 players to complete. CotD did it perfectly... a way to do it solo and a more complex way to do it co-op. I don't want them to waste the voice acting talent they have in this map. I swear it seemed like they had 10 quotes for each character in CotD that repeated endlessly. It got really annoying very fast. "Whatevs, I'm a black belt in Taekwando!" Eurgh. I don't want a needlessly big map. Yes, I want a big one... but not a mostly empty, pointlessly big map like TranZit. Don't think that's going to be the case here, though. And finally, I want there to be a way to end the game without dying. And I'm calling it right now... there won't be. They're giving us a big tease and making it seem like we can "escape" the map (meaning end the game by completing something), but I've got huge doubts that will be the case. Hopefully I'm wrong... don't think I am. Mob of the Dead is the last chance Treyarch has to redeem themselves as far as I'm personally concerned. CoD multiplayer has just gotten boring as hell to me, and BO2 zombies has been a pretty massive disappointment to me so far. If this map is another fail, BO2 may be only the second game ever that I trade in (the first being MW3, BTW). Edit; remembered one more... I would like them to patch the game so we can actually keep crawlers around or at least not make it such a pain in the ass to keep a runner. That and the waiting are the two things I hate most about this game so far. -

I noticed that, but if you pay attention when it shows that same zombie straight on, the eyes look more reddish orange. Not sure what to make of it.

Yeah, like I said I may be way off on my theories and what the goal is of "feeding" the dog, but I really think we're going to have to feed him zombies for some purpose. Maybe to upgrade, maybe to get the tomahawks.... I'm not sure. My original theory, as I stated, was that we would have to feed him zombies to earn afterlife visits. I'm now starting to think that was wrong. It could still be the case, but we see the dog in the picture for Grief Mode on the leaderboards, and I doubt the afterlife/purgatory mechanic will be in Grief Mode. Can't wait to play this map and have all these questions answered!

Treyarch Has Shown Us Everything We Need For The Easter Egg
Megaton A replied to Taklok's topic in Mob of the Dead
Seems everyone is assuming that the whole plane and "GET OFF THE ISLAND" thing is some kind of endgame or EE, but maybe it's just how you reach the Pack A Punch area? -
Ok here's my theory; Perhaps this map is completely unrelated to our normal zombies storyline. Hence the redesigned HUD, red zombie eyes, and other drastic differences in this map. They've talked about having more of a horror element to this map... previously the zombies story has been rooted much more in sci-fi. And yes, I know we have "Samantha's" voice as the announcer, but this could just be gameplay related and non-canon. My theory is the warden was into some kind of occult stuff. We have candles, human skulls, and what looks almost like altars around the map. As warden of a facility housing the most dangerous criminals, he would find it easy to get away with tricky things like ritualistic human sacrifice. Somehow he became a monster himself and unleashed the undead onto the island. As a result, Satan/Hades/whatever you want to call him sent Cerberus to reclaim the souls of the zombies and send them back to the underworld. By helping Cerberus and "feeding" him the zombies he will grant us access to the afterlife. This would explain the odd floating Hellhound head we see consuming zombies, and how the "Purgatory" mechanic could work and how we earn further visits to the afterlife. Consider this.. the Wikipedia entry on Cerberus (bold for emphasis); Cerberus (pron.: /ˈsɜrbərəs/),[1] or Kerberos, (Greek form: Κέρβερος, [ˈkerberos])[2] in Greek and Roman mythology, is a multi-headed (usually three-headed) dog, or "hellhound" [1][3][4] which guards the gates of the Underworld, to prevent those who have crossed the river Styx from ever escaping. Cerberus was the offspring of Echidna, a hybrid half-woman and half-serpent, and Typhon, a fire-breathing giant whom even the Greek gods feared. Its brother is Orthrus, always depicted as a two-headed hellhound.[5] The common depiction of Cerberus in Greek mythology and art is as having three heads. In most works, the three heads each respectively see and represent the past, the present, and the future, while other sources suggest the heads represent birth, youth, and old age.[6] Each of Cerberus' heads is said to have an appetite only for live meat and thus allow only the spirits of the dead to freely enter the underworld, but allow none to leave.[7] Cerberus was always employed as Hades' loyal watchdog, and guarded the gates that granted access and exit to the underworld.[8] Just a theory... I'm probably way off, but I guess we'll find out Tuesday.

New Persistent Perk discussion ("Cash Back")
Megaton A replied to TheBSZombie's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Wow... if only someone would have discovered this "new" persistent upgrade and posted proof of it a month ago... viewtopic.php?f=139&t=28826&p=278012#p277913 Oh wait, I did. -
Man do I miss the pre-black ops 2 zombies
Megaton A replied to Nasdaq401's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Die Rise does have some awesome elements, but it still sucks compared to Black Ops. Like TranZit, you're still spending too much time waiting around for transportation to move around the map. And they really screwed up making these big maps and having crawlers become useless. Now when you play co-op, you end up taking turns babysitting zombies to get anything done. I played Die Rise last night with a couple friends for the first time in a couple weeks... and I found myself bored as hell. Need to hit the box? Replace the Tramplesteams? Ok, I'll sit here bored as hell while you run around the map chasing the box, waiting on elevators, etc. Then when you come back I'll run around the map while you sit here with the zombie. Maybe in about 15 minutes we can get back to actually fighting zombies. We ended round 31, needed to get new guns because we were out of ammo and replace our broken Tramplesteams... but the thought of wasting another 15 minutes taking turns running all over the map and waiting for elevators? I just shot the last zombie and waited to die. I never got bored with Black Ops zombies... at least not co-op. Anytime someone wanted to play I was ready to go all night. Black Ops 2? I'm honestly already sick of it. No thanks... I'm good on playing a game where I spend 50% of the time doing nothing or waiting on buses and elevators to show up... only to end up dying by a random instant death glitch because Treyarch is more concerned with changing game and gun mechanics than fixing game-breaking glitches. DLC 2 better look incredibly amazing and going back to the basics... or I'm just not going to bother with it anymore. -
Perm Jug and the best explanation I can give you
Megaton A replied to TheBSZombie's topic in General Zombies Discussion
As far as keeping it until you go down after 15.... are you aware that the armored/flack jacket zombies do less damage? Without any kind of Jug, you can get hit by them twice and not go down. I think this is to counterbalance the fact that they have a bit extra health. In your video, you have at least one of those zombies, so there's a chance you could have been hit by him once or twice, resulting in you not being downed in 4 hits even without persistent Jug. I know I have been hit 4 times without going down or even getting a red screen after 15 and thought I still had the persistent Jugg, but when I went back and watched in Theater, sure enough... I was getting hit by the armored zombies. That's not to say you're wrong... NGT has a video where Spider gets hit 4 times after round 15 in the starting room in TranZit mode and doesn't go down, so it's definitely odd, and it may glitch occasionally for whatever reason. But I have gone down after 15 by getting hit 4 times (and without having gone down before), and your video is not "proof" unless you can cut to another view and prove you're only getting hit by the "normal" zombies. -
How did you find out about Zombies Mode?
Megaton A replied to Fluorescent's topic in General Zombies Discussion
A friend invited me to Nacht shortly after World at War came out. This was back when it was only available if you had beaten the campaign, and I hadn't. I thought it was pretty tense and creepy, but it also seemed a little too basic and I really didn't get into it a whole lot. I was pretty heavily into Left 4 Dead, so I was mostly getting my zombie-killing fix there. Nacht just seemed a bit too simple as a game mode to me. Later on, some friends were going on about Der Riese, so I bought that and played it with them a bit. It was definitely a big improvement with it being my first experience with the perk machines, and having the teleporter, Pack a Punch, trap, etc... so I played it a bit more than I did Nacht, but I still wasn't a hardcore Zombies fan. When Black Ops came out, I was really getting burned out on the yearly Call of Duty installments and had no real plans of buying it. I rented it for like a week to check it out, and found myself playing Kino night after night for hours on end. I guess that's when I really got hardcore into playing Zombies. I ended up going out and buying Black Ops a few days later only to play Zombies. It's also the sole reason I picked up Black Ops 2... though the way things are looking, even Zombies is going downhill now so this will most likely be my final Call of Duty. That is, unless Treyarch really redeems themselves with the rest of the DLC, starts fixing game-breaking instant death glitches, and stops screwing with the gameplay mechanics in updates. And I'm kinda doubting that will happen, unfortunately. -
Man do I miss the pre-black ops 2 zombies
Megaton A replied to Nasdaq401's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Yes, the only other game with Zombies besides the two Black Ops games is World at War. With DLC, it has 4 zombies maps (Nacht Der Untoten, Verruckt Zombies, Shi No Numa, and Der Riese) which are also available in Black Ops if you purchase the Rezurrection map pack. Though you get different weapons in the World at War version, and there are various other differences. There is a DLC pack available that is kind of like the "Season Pass", which will give you all World at War DLC at a discounted price. This includes all multiplayer maps. Unfortunately, I don't think they ever released a DLC that only included the 3 Zombies maps. -
No crawler no circles "challenge".
Megaton A replied to A Drunk Soviet's topic in General Zombies Discussion
What exactly are "babbies", and why are you starting a thread by calling everyone that reads it one? I swear, the worst part about zombies is the community. -
It kind of looks like it could be the inside of the comic book's "cover". The comic book-style loading screens started with Black Ops, so I don't think it's a reference to World at War at all. I personally don't think it holds any real significance story-wise. Just there to give you more of that comic book feel.

Shortly after the map was released, I went down with Who's Who. My friend tried to revive me, and he got downed... then I tried to revive both of us at once, but it only revived him. After that, I was stuck in "Who's Who" mode (with the weird lighting effects and that annoying song over and over) for the rest of the game, and the "revive" icon for my original character stayed on the screen and would not go away... even though I could not get the prompt to revive myself. Never tried to re-create it, but I figured it might be worth mentioning.

I have had two of my grandparents die of cancer. They were both very important to me, and it was a very tough thing to go through... TWICE. Yet, if someone makes a joke about cancer or uses the term "cancer" as a metaphor I don't get all bent out of shape and expect everyone to censor themselves for me. I also had a very close family member that was the victim of molestation... yet I can laugh all day at molestation jokes. Is it because I don't think it's a serious matter? Of course not... I would like to kill the guy that did it. But things lose power over us if we can laugh about them. I also knew 4 different people who were murdered when I was young. So what if I said that the username "MurderMachineX" is highly offensive to me? Why is Murder okay to reference, even calling yourself a machine of murder.... yet to use the word "Rape" in a context that has absolutely nothing at all to do with anything sexual unacceptable? Either everything is fair game or nothing is. You can't pick and choose. You can't say "Well, the word that offends me is more important than the word that offends you because it sometimes relates to females." What difference does it make what gender it relates to? You're offended by "rape" he's offended by "twat"... one can't be more important than the other. Offensive is offensive. I had more points to make, but there's no use in bothering because people make a hobby out of being offended and expecting the world to cater to what bothers them and there's no changing that.... I'll just end by saying this; If Syndicate or any other commentator (or anyone at all, for that matter) changed their words to cater to some uptight politically correct whiners, I would lose a ton of respect for them.

ATTN Treyarch - sledgehammer and the fly
Megaton A replied to Chopper's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Yes, the n00bs are the ones saying it's overpowered (well, n00bs and PS3 owners who haven't been able to play the map yet) because anyone who actually has experience with the map can tell you that all those videos of people camping in the Galvaknuckles room with the Sliquifier were not evidence of an overpowered gun, but of a broken spawn system. The people saying it was overpowered all seem to be basically saying what you're saying... that it was overpowered because you could sit where the zombies spawn in, shoot at the spawn, and take out tons of zombies (and no, you couldn't do a whole round with one shot anyways, but whatever). The simple fact is, the situation you're talking about involved people exploiting a poorly implemented spawn system. The update increased the spawn radius... that should have been enough. There was no need to also nerf the gun itself. And yeah, I also bought the hardened edition only for Nuketown Zombies... and I was really pissed off to find they were offering it for free with the season pass. Whoever made the analogy of a cable company raising rates after your three month deal expires is completely missing the point. When you get an entry package with a cable company you're completely aware that the rates will increase when it expires. We were told that Nuketown Zombies was only going to be available with the Hardened Edition, and most of us assumed from Black Ops that it would eventually be made available in a map pack, but it wouldn't be for 9 months or so and we would receive a free map or something of equal value to compensate. Instead we were told "Hey, if you want this map you better get the special edition!! It's the only way you can get it!!" yet then right around the game's release they turned around and said "That exclusive map that you paid an extra $20 for?? We're giving it away for free to anyone that wants to save money by buying the season pass. And to compensate you guys for buying the Hardened Edition?? Hahah get screwed, we got your money, suckers!!!" -
No, it has nothing to do with going down. Listen closely... as soon as round 15 starts you will hear the sound of losing the upgrade. At this point you will down in two hits without jugg, or 4 with jugg, just as you normally would.
-
You're just arguing semantics. What was the photo in Der Riese depicting a lighthouse and crashed ship if not a hint at Call of the Dead? In fact, wasn't there a photo in Der Riese that looked just like the stage of the Kino theater, but with a tarp over the teleporter? So your reasoning is that it wasn't a hint at the next map because it might not have ended up being the next map, even though it was? That makes no sense. Treyarch does, in fact, "hint" at the next map. No a "hint" doesn't necessarily mean "THIS WILL BE THE NEXT MAP"... that's why it's a hint. They don't have to follow the course they've hinted at, but it's still a hint. For example, they have hinted that there could be a Paris map. Probably because they originally planned on making the final Black Ops map Paris. They changed their mind. Doesn't mean the hints weren't hints. I swear sometimes you seem to want to start arguments just for argument's sake.

All I know is I'm currently at 136,006 kills and 515 downs, but still only have the skull and knife. So yeah... k/d is probably a part of the formula, but I don't think it has as much bearing as a lot of people claim. As far as needing the blue eyes to rank up... I'm almost positive I didn't have them the last time I re-gained the knife, so I don't think it's a factor. The thing that sucks is... if someone didn't play for a few weeks and got reset back to the bones, it's tough to even know for sure if they got de-ranked from not playing, or from a glitch in the ranking system. The way things save in Zombies seems to glitch a lot... navcard tables resetting, losing persistent upgrades between games, etc. Really hard to say for sure what the cause is. I really wish Treyarch would just explain this stuff, because it's pretty meaningless if we don't even know what any of it really represents.

Urgh, I hate Jimmy Z sometimes. Honestly, I think he was just talking about fixing bugs in the game (Janitor, cleaning the game up... yeah). Shortly before this he tweeted about the zombies "not playing nice" (TranZit zombies dying out), then he made this "Janitor" reference, then TranZit was fixed. But since he has to be so goddamn cryptic about every stupid thing he posts, there's no way of saying for sure... so people will interpret everything how they want.
