  1. While I'm against using real world tragedies for 'entertainment' in video games, everyone might be forgetting the names of the Black Ops 2 maps - Green Run - Great Leap Forward - Resolution 1295 Each of these 'events' ended in catastrophic tragedy. Great Leap Forward resulted in the deaths of thousands & 'Project Green Run' may have caused cancers in hundreds of people & livestock. Resolution 1295 was the result of probably thousands of deaths due to the Arms trade. Hanford Downwinders Today, citizens of Washington, Oregon and Idaho are outraged that the federal government secretly irradiated them and lied about it. Many are worried about their health, and for good reason. By 1940 standards (much more lax than those of today), the Green Run alone exposed those living near Hanford to amounts of radiation 20 times above tolerance thresholds. Those who lived downwind of Hanford in the years of the releases have subsequently reported widespread incidents of serious diseases often associated with radiation exposure, including cancer and thyroid disease. Thyroid Cancer Thyroid Cancers are thought to be related to to a number of environmental and genetic predisposing factors, but significant uncertainty remains regarding its causes. Environmental exposure to ionizing radiation from both natural background sources and artificial sources are suspected to play a significant role, and there are significant increased rates of thyroid cancer rates in those exposed to mantlefield radiation for lymphoma, and those exposed to iodine-131 following the Chernobyl disaster. Thyroiditis and other thyroid disease also predisposes to thyroid cancer. A map doesn't need to be set at the Chernobyl site, it could be set at the "checkpoint" with some underlying relation to the disaster that occurred. Much like the Green Run map. Green Run/Tranzit's setting did not reflect the Hanford Nuclear Plant but the map layout is the same as the reactor layout (see pic below) Maybe it could be set around the "checkpoint"? I would love it if the future maps were hinted at in Tranzit, like Kino Der Toten did with Green Run & Great Leap Forward. (There was a map of Australia on one of the magazines at the Book Shop & Bus Depot)
  2. Come to think of it, this might just be a hint at a future map? Possibly. Read & study @Tac thread about the Russian writing in Tranzit. This writing was also in Black Ops. http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/149815-green-run-chernobyl-1960s-1980s-marlton-shelter/ Preview - Picture from this thread - http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/149803-russian-silo-and-shelter-in-tunnel/?p=1383604
  3. Haha, I'm glad you caught yourself there, cause I was going to say - "Call of Duty" That mission in Modern Warfare was one if my favourites though. Absolute cracker of a mission.
  4. Why did they put monkeys in the "Space Race" map? Here's why - Ham the Chimp (pictured above) Ham (July 1956 – January 19, 1983), also known as Ham the Chimp and Ham the Astrochimp, was a chimpanzee and the first Hominidae launched into space, on 31 January 1961, as part of America's space program. (The monkeys/chimpanze in Ascension are actually wearing the same suit as the American Chimp, not a Russian. Russia didn't launch one until 1983.) Soviet Union and Russia The Soviet/Russian space program in the Bion program in 1980s and 1990s satellites used only the rhesus species. The names of the monkeys started with each letter of the Russian alphabet sequentially (А, Б, В, Г, Д, Е, Ж, З...). Most of animals survived, except for a single fatality, after which the program was cancelled. The first Soviet monkeys, Abrek and Bion, flew on Bion 6. They were aloft from December 14, 1983 – December 20, 1983. Have you ever heard the Secret Radio recordings from "Yuri" who was working on "Project Mercury"? This is probably who Yuri is based on - Yuri Gagarin was a Russian-Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on 12 April 1961. And this is probably Project Mercury (even though it's American) Project Mercury was the first human spaceflight program of the United States led by its newly created space agency NASA. It ran from 1959 through 1963 with the goal of putting a human in orbit around the Earth, and doing it before the Soviet Union, as part of the early space race. That, would be why monkeys are is Ascension. Credit to @MixMasterNut for this awesome research on the Space Chimps. Check out his post here
  5. Really? The 3 different colours depict the monkey's difficulty? At first I thought that was a full troll, then I saw it was you DBZ, are you trolling? Hahah. (Jokes) I never really played much Ascension, I was too pissed off from playing FIVE hardcore.
  6. Ha! That's awesome. I've never really thought of it like that. Samantha's Room = The Æther The Basement = Agartha (I still think it's buls**t that kids would know about HAARP, MJ12 , Area 51, Illuminati & all of the other "conspiracy" links that have been hinted throughout the series)
  7. I do miss the "Wandering Crawler" In Black Ops, if the crawler died out, it would repawn in proximity with full health I believe? And you could make him a crawler again. In Black Ops 2, if you were far enough away, the crawler would die out & end the round. Even a full health single zombie respawns, but I know that if he was just a little damaged & you made too much distance on him, he would die out on his own will this ending the round. At the 2011 COD XP, I think it was Colin who said that "creating & leaving a crawler at the end of the round is not cheating". I wonder why they changed this?
  8. Nice list & explainations MMX. I agree but also disagree. You could almost add to the list - • The Moon Rockets - (One of the original Wunderwaffes - V-Weapons [tab][/tab]If they weren't filled with '115', it must have been Ethereal Energy to blow apart the earth like that. (Jokes) If there were no Black Ops 2, this topic wouldn't even exist. For me, the Black Ops 2 maps changed the COD Zombies term "Wünder Weapon". I completely agree with Rissole -
  9. Great topic @ A few of the things I've been reading about lately have the same people that seem to pop up in topics like this. I think it was yourself that posted about "As above, So Below"? & also that each map in Black Ops 2 featured the 4 Elements? (That was even before Origins came out) Tranzit = Fire Die Rise = Air Buried = Earth Our reading interests seem to cross paths. Anyway, I love doing wikipedia link journeys. Even though it is wiki, you can learn about so many things & land on topics so randomly. You pick up the key words & research/learn from there. Here are a few key words which keep coming up in some of the thing I've been reading about. Take it as you will, but I find it quite interesting some of the 'hidden' or underlaying themes in the Zombie Storyline. Astral Projection Macrocosm and Microcosm Neurotransmission Theosophy Rosicrucianism Francis Bacon Robert Fludd Edward Bulwer-Lytton Eliphas Levi Max Heindel Jakob Böhme Classical element Aether Luminiferous Aether Plato "The individual is a microcosm ("small world") of the universe (the macrocosm or "great world")
  10. When it all comes down to it, it is just misspelling. But, for the argument of nationality, let's look at Origins. The Nazi Party / Group 935 ideology is shown in Origins. That's why the Robots are named Odin, Thor & Freya. The reason the Futhark symbols are shown when in Zombie Blood. Deutsche Mythologie (Teutonic Mythology)....
  11. It's probably neither here nor there, but the only time it is spelt Ludwig (from what I remember) is in the Servant Files which Maxis wrote/programmed himself. The CIA/Majestic 12 people didn't make it, they only accessed the "Datenbediensteter" (translated: DATA SERVANT). Then again, it does say that it's been translated from its original German. Either way, who really cares. It's just Treyarch laziness with the spelling of a major characters name. Edit - I made a topic a while ago questioning if Maxis was really German based on Richtofen saying "Stupid Maxis & his stupid accent". A lot of the same arguments are in that thread too. http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/149904-is-dr-maxis-really-german/
  12. What is with the text? Did you copy & paste this from somewhere? Apologies. Many thought that the lyrics to this song were " Electric Eel" too. "Shock me like an Electric Eel"
  13. Good topic @JuggerWicho The different spelling was discussed when Black Ops came out, but I cant find the posts. Maxis' first name was spelt Ludvig on a plaque found in Der Riese (World at War) & this same plaque is found in the Projector Room on Kino der Toten (Black Ops). (see picture below) Yet his name is spelt Ludwig on the Black Ops Terminal. (see picture below) SERVANTA00001.TXT ***TOP SECRET*** ***LEVEL 1 CLEARENCE EYES ONLY*** DER RIESE "SERVANT" SAMPLE A00001 What follows is the chronological primary sample from the Der Riese project "Datenbediensteter" (translated: DATA SERVANT). Sample was acquired from CIA asset based out of Vozrozhdeniya in the Soviet Union and is translated from its original German below: ***TEST CASE A00001*** *greetings *i am ludwig maxis *today is 20 january 1942 *my daughter has a dog *its name is fluffy *this is file 1 *for storage in the data *servant *I trust in its success ***END FILE*** Black Ops Teminal Screenshot I actually hadn't noticed the spelling on the Origins Cinematic - Spelt Ludvig There have been numerous character names that have been mis-spelt Ludvig or Ludwig (In all 3 Zombies games) Richtofan (The subtitle text on the Kino loading screen & also some of his quote file names are spelt Richtofan) Nikolai Belinksi (The original Origins Trailer spelt Nikolai's name like this instead of Belinski) (Treyarch fixed this within an hour) Gersch or Gersh (Tactical known as the Gersch Device (maybe? need screenshot) but the achievement calls it the Gersh Device) Conclusion:- Multiple Character names that are pronouced the same are actually different characters! (Jokes)
  14. I don't think anyone bid on the first auction. He relisted it & the Blundergat sold for $250.00 US.
  15. Hmm, I wonder how @12_yr_old_virgin (aka @ - Jay) feels about this? A mid thirties, successful business professional & possibly one of the smartest guys on CoDz, but when he has an internet handle, he becomes a total troll. PS - why is this in the Black Ops forum?
  16. I've never really made any map ideas, but here are a few that come to mind with the words you originally posted. Sand - A luxurious beach-front resort that is in Ruins. Map areas can be the Hotel lobby, underground carpark, pool area (with a maze of slides) & of course the private beachfront. Water & Industrial - Niagara Falls. I was really hoping this would be in BO2. Can anyone remember the original James Bond 007 on N64? This is the kind of map that would be great for Zombies. Each area of Tranzit could have been made into its own legendary map. A Town or City in Ruins A creepy old haunted Farm A massive Nuclear Power Plant A Cabin in the woods (enough said) Education -A School setting has been mentioned numerous times, but I don't think it will ever happen. Maybe a university? But I think that guns being fired inside an educational institution will never happen in a game. Too much controversy. Subway or Airport -I would like to see a subway station too or international Airport. You could combine the trains system like big airports have a monorail between each terminal. Definitely needs to be dark & creepy as @ said. (I'm sure this next map will be in the Zombie story at some point. Something similar anyway. So much of the previous story relates to this) The Pillars of Hercules & The highly speculated Atlantis. Possibly the Strait of Gibraltar. Somewhere near Morocco. "According to Plato's account, the lost realm of Atlantis was situated beyond the Pillars of Hercules, in effect placing it in the realm of the Unknown." The title page of Sir Francis Bacon's Instauratio Magna, 1620
  17. Nice post Nai, I had never thought about Maxis being poisoned & I was also going to post the Data Servant entry @JuggerWicho posted. Maxis says that it may be the 115 affecting him. I am a believer that maxis shot himself in the Moon radios, maybe this is another motive for him to do so.
  18. Haha, I thought Maxis the Cat was good, but Faiytales. Wow. And this answers why you hear the kids singing the nursery rhyme in Shi No Numa.
  19. Nice breakdown EJ & cool idea for a thread. I doubt think I read this the first time round. The Physiology that Treyarch have given Zombies is a little different to the stereotypical zombie I guess. As you said originally, gameplay wise, they don't eat you, they only kill by striking their arms. Yet, the wall drawing in Verruckt shows an arm being eaten, though this may be a human eating a Zombie arm as we are later hinted at in the Tranzit TV, the Die Rise opening cinematic & the Die Rise TV. Also Stuhlinger has numerous quote about eating zombie sandwiches or something like that. Another strange aspect is their sight. Zombies have no eyes. No eyeballs at all. Only beams of light. Yet, in turned we get to see their supernatural vision. Anyway, love the threads you make like these EJ. Hopefully a few more over the off season.
  20. @Tac, I just re-read this thread. What you have done formating into transcript form is truely amazing. So much time must have been spent doing this. I'm glad you updated this thread when you did. A true Gem on Codz. Brains, Brains, Brains!
  21. CoDz Rule # 1 - Don't duplicate topics! Haha, only joking. I think that there are 2 or 3 threads like this already. Rule # 1 should be - Kill Zombies!!!
  22. Just came across this paragraph - "The Soviet Union tested an atomic bomb in 1949, earlier than many analysts had expected. That same year, Mao Zedong's Communist army gained control of mainland China despite heavy American financial support of the opposing Kuomintang." - Green Run & Great Leap Forward in the same paragraph.

      PINNAZ

Well, both of these events lead to the Green Run Project & Great Leap Forward.

  23. @AlphaSnake made a great post about this along time ago. Check it out here http://www.callofdutyzombies.com/forum/index.php/topic/138180-frank-woods-busted-out-of-hanoi-prison/ Woods gets the 115 Tattoo between Operation 40 & Executive Order which are the first & second missions in Black Ops.
