  1. Hi. 83457 here opining on my favorite game mode of cod; tdm. I am really liking the larger maps in ghosts, but i find that the 10 minute timer and 75 point max score are too short for Ghosts. I loved playing 'spawn in a box' on bo2, running around all Willy nilly for a few minutes like a headless chicken, shooting anything and everything that moves. You spawned looking at someone or someone was looking at you. Tiny maps, lots of quick excitement. But i love the other end too; moving stealthily around the map, holding down an area. Not getting shot from behind on every kill that I'm making. But with the large maps and more 'pro' style of play needed, i feel that the games should be 100 points or more. What i see in me and my cod friends is this; when we play, we play for hours, not a few minutes. We end up spending more time trying to get in a good map/avoiding troll maps than we do actually playing. Frankly, that's not right. So, even though nobody who can affect this will probably ever read this post, that is one thing this game needs: lengthy tdm games. Thanks for reading.

    Reinforce Game Mode

    Sure thing. For me, i used to play hc s&d in mw2, but hated waiting to respawn. Occasionally, i play Domination, even Blitz rarely, but mostly I'm a boring tdm guy. So i am surprised at how much this mode has grabbed my attention.
  3. Reinforce is a new mode added in May to the multiplayer games. This is a blend of team deathmatch and domination (i refer to it as domination death match or Rein-force). The basic idea is that there are 3 flags to capture and enemies to kill. Win by: Kill all 4 enemies. Capture all 3 flags at once (glitches: you may rarely hold 3 and not win) Hold 2 flags until time runs out (45 second rush timer or end of round timer). You can hold 2 flags, have every member of your team dead and the game goes on until you win (by 45 second 'rush' timer) or an enemy takes a flag (then they win). Edit: also rounds have a time limit of 2.5 minutes. When that runs out, i think whomever holds the most flags wins. Taking a flag gives you half of a point towards your killstreaks, kills count normally. Use cheap Specialist rewards as assault and support go away when you die. The assault/support ones should not die when you do, so that's either a glitch or poor design choice. Winning a round is 1 point, 4 points to win the game. Halftime/switching sides happens after 3 rounds. You do not respawn normally. You respawn when a teammate takes a flag. So capturing a flag as the last man is quite important. Don't be that guy trying to kill the enemy team rather than taking a flag. Just don't. It is not a killwhore mode. This is not domination where you take 2 flags and rack up kills while maintaining your hold of those 2 flags. You must be capturing flags. Leave games where people fail to understand this basic concept: you will find derps not capturing flags as the last man alive. I recommend playing with the scoreboard showing on the upper right (back button on controller). There are only 8 players max, so it doesn't take up too much screen area but will allow you to instantly see what players are alive. This will help you judge what actions to take during a game. Example: I'm the last alive on my team (everyone else shows red). There is 1 enemy alive. They have 2 flags, i have 1. It seems in his favor: he can take the last flag to win. Kill me to win, or wait out the timer. But i have a choice of 2 flags to capture, with only 1 enemy watching, so i have a great chance to quickly grab a flag and return my full team to play. So, now i have a full team respawned at 1 flag, and he must scramble to take what had been the last flag. Meanwhile, my team theoretically knows this and can try to stop him/her from taking the only flag he has (since he probably won't go to the 1 we just respawned at). So, going after flags on either team is almost always the best course of action. The point being; pay attention to who is or isn't alive and take flags. Ieds, kastets, snipers/marksmen are all a common sight as well as smg/shotgun (probably ripper and Remington are most common). C4 is great to place at a flag or to throw at a contested point, ieds too. Games are fast and fun. I've won games from wiping out the enemy teams, and I've won games at 0k 1d 9captures, so you can play how you like to win. Just don't camp as the last man standing...or try to Rambo a full team...get them flags! Happy gaming! Edits: often flags don't count. Notably the first and last flags glitch most often; take the first flag with your team, it tells you you captured it, but you are at zero captures. I'll take the game (or round) winning flag and often get no credit in the upper right, despite telling me that i took it (and, you know, it winning the game [or round] and all). Flags often lag due to the way ghosts is programmed: i take a flag, it turns blue, it tells me that i captured it, then i get killed and had not captured it in the killcam, so it gets 'uncaptured'. Yeah. Good job iw. Games seem to count as search and rescue in the leaderboards/patches/et cetera. You get good xp for this mode; tdm takes me about 20-26 hours to prestige, this took under 13 hours. Funny, i didn't know that reinforce was for 8 players, i was checking it out with bots (12 players), but i spent a lot of time playing versus humans yesterday (i need something to do until the can fix Safeguard). Glitches galore: Flag circles often don't appear at first. Several times, we held all 3 flags but got no win. Several times i was taking a flag when the enemy team took 1 and they won despite me taking a flag. Very often capturing flags doesn't register in the stats. Example: i start at A, capture it, it counts, i run to B, capture it but still have 1 capture in my stats. Nobody was there but me. Note that it often doesn't say you captured it, nor give points. Start game, it shows that i am ghosts and has the 1 spawn in blue, so i know where i will load. But then it puts me on the opposite side of the map from what it just showed. The circle under B flag in Unearthed is askew; sticking up from the ground at an angle. Safeguard: since the June update, hardly any sentries or vultures load in Loot rounds, essentially killing the game mode. Also, most Challenges are 'headshot'. Minor Safeguard cheat: example; you have an iar at level 4.5. You get the minigun from the challenge. With the minigun in hand, you approach a Support Drop package containing an iar. If you pick it up with the minigun in hand, the iar goes to 5.5, keeping the blue bar where it was, rather that simply going to level 5. I loved safeguard until it became glitched beyond playability. Now I'm trying out Reinforce and it's a glitchy mess too. Oh cod.
  5. I just wanted to air an issue i had with escapes in Nightfall. When i was playing nightfall, one had to fight the breeder at the end for a long time to get a platinum escape. You ran down on health, ran out of cash, but it was worth it for those platinum escapes. Then idiocyward says that was a mistake. The faster you got out, the higher level escape it was. Okay fine. Your mistake iw, we could forgive that easily. But then they took away our platinums and gave us bronzes. Wait. So we played the extra hard way just to get those platinums, then for them take those hard earned platinums away was completely unfair. That and the horrible kniving are why i don't play extinction hardly at all anymore. It wasn't our fault you at iw screwed up. We played your glitched game, the hard way, to earn those platinums. Anyone can best the breeder quickly, but purposely playing for a while, losing lives and money was hard and we deserved our platinum. To hear 'oops' and then lose our hard earned platinums was disgraceful on their part. Anyone agree?
  6. Thanks people. Why would they hurt you and your teammates? That is fail. I never understand tweaks that cause negatives. The ims isn't that great, then you upgrade it with hard earned teeth, then it hurts you. How dumb is that? Why are cod employees (both iw and trollarch) trying to hurt the gameplay of games? Do they, instead of a check at the end of the week, get half a weeks pay and they are okay with it? You work towards something and get punished or it gets diminished. Why that psychology? Anyone schooled in game theory knows that 'easy' sells. The more you have to work or are challenged, the less replay value, the less fun. Example: The recent patch glitched out Safeguard so almost no sentries/vultures are showing up, making the game unplayable unless you delete the title updates for the game, then you can only play offline solo/split screen. It isn't in the patch notes, it's an obvious bug (they wouldn't do that on purpose). So, let's entertain the idea that they did this on purpose (clearly not, but hypothetically). Did it add challenge? No, it removed a necessary component. Is it more fun to play without Loot? Not in the slightest. It makes the loot rounds pointless. This is like the grenades issue in this game: they are weak and can't be scavenged. Proper fixes would be either buff them or add the ability to scavenge. What did they do? Nerfed them and nerfed them again against all reason/game theory/common sense. I guess they just hate grenades. The extinction ims gets little love, now they give you a chance to upgrade it, but it has added drawbacks. That is what we in the gaming know call: nonbalance: creating too much drawback on too little gain. Easy and fun sell games. Changing games to take away fun and ease kills games dead. Goodbye sales. Sadly, if you go to iw's site, it is a bunch of kids who probably never took a class on game theory in their lives. Most likely nepotism jobs, so how can we expect them to make good decisions without proper training/understanding?

    Safeguard Game Mode

    Help! I was looking for a way around this game breaking glitch; i tried to not sign in and only play local, but I'm getting the same glitch; only 1 sentry and 1 vulture on most loot rounds. So, would deleting the title update get rid of this glitch? The mode is unplayable as is, so if i can't fix it, I guess i'll trade in ghosts. Edit: Yes, deleting the title update is required to avoid this glitch. Unfortunately, you can only play local and only solo or 2 player split screen. So no leaderboards. And if you want to switch to multiplayer, you need to do the update. Obviously this wasn't an intentional change, but how long do we have to deal with this glitch before it gets patched? I'm trying to be patient, but this is my favorite game, or at least it was... Edit: facts and frustration: Searching all patch updates, this bug is not mentioned as a balance tweek (good to know that they aren't that stupid to do it on purpose). Clearly it is a game breaking unintentional bug. Contact activision? This brings up a 'contact us' link that asks what platform (360), what game (ghosts), then has 10 questions that have nothing to do with contacting them. Muddling through this disturbing cache of nonsense, i finally found a chat link. Even though it was during the chats listed hours, it was offline (hours adjusted for time zones, I'm not stupid) and had a message that you may have to wait a long time for a response (but again, it was offline, so there was no chat for them to respond to). After extensive research, i found email links to activision and iw. All of which return 'invalid link' or 'an error occurred'. I joined the official call of duty forum (shittiest forum in the world). First, they told me both of my main emails were already signed up (false). So i used an ancient email, signed up, confirmed the email. The forum shows that i am logged in, but i can not post nor reply. A simple search reveals that there are quite a few posts going back 5+ years asking why they can't post or reply and there are no official responses to why their forum is useless. So, clearly the game became corrupt during a recent patch and there is no way to report it after 5 hours of intense research. So i have to hope that someone at iw is aware of this bug and gets it patched soon. If you know if any official bug reports, please leave the link below for me to report this. Thanks for reading. I have tried to talk up the good points of ghosts and be positive, but this is a big blow to my enjoyment of ghosts. Extreme downer. Edit: i forgot that the challenges were also glitched; usually only headshot challenges showed up, rarely do other challenges appear. Obviously 2 sentries and 2 vultures need to load every loot round (at least solo/2 player), so hopefully they can properly patch this Loot issue. Re edit: hmmm. After extensive testing, we still keep experiencing this glitch. It seems that deleting the title update is the only way to return the games intended functionality. As is, the 1 sentry/vulture issue has hurt the game to the point of unplayability for 2 players. After deleting/updating, i played solo and seemed to be getting at least either 2 sentries or 2 vultures, but as soon as i played 2 player, the game was glitched again. So, I've stopped playing safeguard until they can patch this. So sad, i really loved this mode.

    Safeguard Game Mode

    Recently, there was a title update that caused the game mode to become glitched; at loot round 1, there is only 1 sentry and 1 vulture dropping. Obviously, there should be closer to 2 each loot round as it was originally. Clearly this was an unintentional glitch as it only hurts the playability of the game and the last thing we need is to drive folk away from this mode. As it stands, the mode is unplayable.

  11. Okay, so I'm just chillin' with some early afternoon coffee, figured that i would play a few bots in this newish Reinforce mode (too early to stress over real human opponents). I play on mutiny; take flag A, run to B, but my team bots got it first, then i cap C for the immediate win, but i only have 1 capture somehow. Glitch! Play on Pharaoh; flag A had no white circle at start. When captured, the blue circle appeared, it worked normally through all of the rounds after. At one point i come out from C area to B, their last 3 guys are standing on a box near B, not doing anything. At the end of the game, they didn't take a single flag. But they did a good job of holding that box down...oh wait, no they didn't, they got pooped on. So Pharaoh probably isn't the most challenging Reinforce map versus bots today. Silly glitchy cod games.

  13. A game mode was added, called Reinforce. It's worth a try. 4 points to win. 1 point for winning each round. There are 3 flags to take like Domination. You get 1 life, but respawn when your team takes a flag. Win a round by taking all 3 points, or by killing their entire team without letting them take a flag. Domination Death Match.

  15. Thank you. Last time that i played with 4 people (nightfall was new), it had to be maxed out to kill scouts. Which frankly is kind of crappy, imo.
  16. I edited this thread to be questions in general, rather than starting a thread for each question. Others are welcome to ask questions here as well, of course. Skip to last post, please. Tank question: in Ninjanick's guide, he said that 1 point in tank kills scouts with melee. He believed that that was how it worked in mp extinction games. I know it does work like that in regular solo games. So, did it change so that 1 point in tank gives him the ability to 1-hit-kill a scout (in mp games)? Or does he have to be maxed out, as it was when the game released? Thanks. I am considering jumping into a randy game one of these days and would like to know.
  17. They were included in Invasion dlc. Gold knife must be prestige 5 to use (or private match/local). Just like the original, but no grab and push animation, just a goofy looking swing. Gold pdw; must be prestige 10, but it is a decent automatic secondary. Again, i feel that cod, for at least the previous 3 titles, catered to the 'spawn in a box' crowd. I feel that folk like me who enjoy the larger maps and more strategic movements, have mostly left cod because of this. I like then both myself, but I was really glad to see ghosts. I get bored with extinction too easily, i wish that that wasn't true. I think Safeguard grabbed my attention because a friend and i would camp versus bots and with the removal of tactical insertion, it it's much harder to camp together like a team. So when i play Safeguard, it is close to what we used to do versus bots in bo1/2, plus it is winnable and you can adjust it to 40 or 100 rounds. Sadly, there isn't much weapon variety; I am normally someone who will play with every weapon and constantly change up my classes. This can't be done in Safeguard.
  18. I completely disagree on that one. BO1 had some very decent MP maps in my opinion, but that is all it is... opinion, so with that aside I go on to the main point I have. Just because a game has garbage MP maps in ones opinion does not necessarily call for reprints. It is down to a lack of imagination and innovation on the programmers and would maybe then call for a rehiring of staff with better ideas, but to resort to reskins is extremely poor in my opinion and has partially led to the downfall of CoD as a franchise. BO2 and Ghosts were generally poorly recieved for the most part and they are littered in reworkings. I can't argue this at all. Well said. I retract my view that reprints would have been better as it was said facetiously. If i could redo history, i would have taken villa, kowloon, hanoi, rather than firing range/nuketown. Again, it's opinion, but people screamed and raged when firing range or nuketown got picked, so why reprint something that was so reviled by so many players? Pick a fan favorite, not a troll map to reprint. That seems obvious, doesn't it? Why purposefully add to the rage that cod induces? Oh wait...Trollarch...it's in their name.
  19. This cracked me up because my highest solo game ended when i fell asleep with my eyes open. I was downed and could not recover before they got me again. I suck at having favorites, but it was one that got lots of play, for sure.
  20. Yeah, regularly there is only 50k+ to 70k+ players in ghosts 360, not sure how many on the one side. I'm not bashing it, i actually quite like ghosts, I'm just thinking along the lines ej was on. I just wanted to point out that technically, ghosts has 4 dlc weapons, 5 if you count both versions of the maverick separate. (edit; i was basically responding to what ej said about dlc weapons, but his post was before Invasion released, so 'duh' on my part for wondering why he was ignoring the newest weapons). Maverick Maverick a2 Ripper Gold knife p5 Gold pdw p10 All of which are decent. Though i wish they made the knife better than simply removing the grab and push animation. Like having it recover faster between stabs, or maybe give it a better than 60% chance of connecting on a player that it was perfectly aimed at. I feel that, if you aim at them and stab, it should connect 100%.
  21. A few random glitchies: I play ss games of safeguard. Usually the second player to pick the class didn't get stuck with the b+w start screen. Edit: if you wait for the countdown to go below 15 before picking your class, you will avoid the black and white screen. I had a Support Drop crate land in the trolley on Bayview, so it was riding back and forth. As i watched it go by, i got deaded, so i didn't get it to see of it would be further glitchy. I got revived (safeguard) and my flashing perk stayed flashing for the rest of the game. (In safeguard, your perks flash and go away one at a time as you are bleeding out). (Safeguard) I grab a perk (sd crate), a shield guy kills me as i get it. The second perk from the right was flashing and went away before i got revived, instead of the perk i just picked up. The reason: if you are getting an sd drop and you get downed, you continue to pick up the drop as long as you hold x. So i went down and started losing the farthest right perk, then got another perk. Once down, you cannot start to grab a package, only works if you were getting it before you got downed. Playing tdm bots (1 vs 11, favela); i call in 2 cps, they land in each other and can't be picked up by me. Of course the bots kill me and are able to pick them up.

  23. I'm happy to see Favela, because i do play bots/rarely mp/ safeguard and it was fun to see that map again, but that's about it for me liking reprints. (no bots in mw2, so no reason to play a cod that old at this point, with bots, you can always throw the older cods in). That being said, a couple in mw2 were from mw, which i didn't have. So that was kind of cool except that Vacant was so unbalanced. Did bo1 do reprints? Bo1 original maps were almost all garbage, they could have used some reprints... I find the ghost reskin maps annoying, but they tried to change them enough and add gimmicks, so it's almost a new map (even dome/unearthed). For the record though, i would prefer new content, not rehashed. And again, sledge doesn't have any previous cods to fall back on.
  24. Hi folk. There isn't much hidden stuff in the new dlc3 maps, except for Favela. I'll go over some spots/avenues of travel soon. This site was down and i am physically and mentally broken right now, but i should have that up in a day or so.
  25. It seems to be the most popular of their side games yet, so it seems pretty much guaranteed that it will return. This coming from a person who isn't really into it, Safeguard has been my go to. But i say what i see. Nice thoughts on plots.
