Okay, for those of you getting the severs and issues associated with it, i have some more news on the 'frenemies' glitch; when you get this glitch, all of your teammates have red names. Enemies have no names. You cannot shoot your teammates. There will be no blue triangles on the minimap. Once i saw a teammate other than me in the glitch. Every other time, it had been me as the 'frenemy'. I wanted to learn what i could, but i kept getting a lot of attention and didn't want to be reported for cheating. I certainly didn't do it on purpose. Other weird: between two games, all of my ghosts heads and season pass camos turned off. I could put them back, but it was weird that they vanished between games. Camo-changes usually happen at start up, not between games. Also, as of yesterday afternoon, i am always moved to the top half of the lobby. So all yesterday, i only played on the spawn of each map associated with the top spawn. So on Prison Break, I only spawn at the shit spawn by the river. That sucks a lot. In one glitchy game, i fell through the map. Random off topic: I'm a crate stealer (enemy, not teammate's). So karma had me lose like 5 Michael Myers crates to the enemy, but i finally got one without it getting stolen.

I'm with HW on enjoying the Easter egg. It felt like I was doing things in game with some purpose. Some Easter eggs are random things like following an orb. Origins had us doing what we normally do, but for a reason. I don't know, i enjoyed it.

Okay, got a new weird one. I save 'custom recipe' games for when my buddy comes over. If we don't play safeguard, we just fight bots 2-10 to 150 kills. Well, i made up default classes, so we each have 10 classes and 6 default classes. So i was looking at the default ones to see what i had made up, since it had been quite a while since i used my constructed defaults. Well, ghosts class 6 changed perks somehow, so that i had 2 primaries on a class without Overkill. So i set the perks up, and left the 2 primaries. Unfortunately, in an actual game, i couldn't switch to the second primary. Strange. The Federation class 6, which was a clone of ghosts class 6, had remained unchanged. Only the one class had mysteriously changed. Also, if i use the yellow camo on my private match classes, then play real online mp, then go back to private, all of the yellow camos are off. I guess this is because of the 'split screen glitch' that is in this, just like mw3. Like, people are putting muzzle brakes on Honey Badgers and stuff like that. More weird: i played for a couple of hours of online mp. After one game, all of my ghosts masks were gone and every single soldier had the default first head. Just between one game and the next it changed.

Shoot each with a different weapon x variant? Just a guess. Try a locker key. Turn them when downed. Where do the pipes go? The last 2 were up high. Both involved shooting.

Taking a lead from lead_psychopath, i did an easy 2 man game on top of the lighthouse on Bayview. Anyone familiar with any other good spots? We did okay on Stonehaven, but the loot packages load a bit far away. I have since beaten this, with ease, from the top of the castle, 2 player. I definitely think the game would improve with a minute of loot gathering time. There is always the run like it's zombies option, which i haven't explored much as i tend to play with a friend that sucks on the run. I got that trolley/no hands glitch, he went down, i just ran the bots around for a couple of minutes. I feel that Bayview is a good design for the run method; the square design and the open paths around everything means that they will track towards you, giving you a safe path to run around the outside. Unforch, i want to best maps that i have not yet beaten. So, is anyone finding success on the run? Anyone have a favorite camp spot worth mentioning? Thanks.

Frenemies glitch: i think what is happening is this; for my area, the game has suddenly changed in how it plays. Every game is a new lobby with extremely rare exceptions (assuming dedicated servers?). But a couple of times, i loaded into a match just after it starts. This appears to cause all of your teammates to have enemy names. I don't know if the actual enemies are killable, or if they have friendly names (that could be abusable). Assumed dedicated servers: every single match is a new lobby. Half the time, I'm moved to the top of the lobby. Once the game starts, my name is on top and nobody else is in the game. Then each player loads in and has a skull like they are dead, then they are in the lobby (i assume every player sees the same thing; their name on top). It looks like I'm host, but there are no host migrations. The games are usually really laggy with rare exceptions. The matches tend to give you the same map again. Like play on Containment, next map choices are Freefall and Containment. I literally played Containment 7 times in a row yesterday. Strange things are afoot at the circle G.

Origins: the nuke, trench between 6 and 4., trench from workshop to dig site. Buried: boredom. Jail: trying to get as much as possible done in a timely fashion. Die Rise: elevators, falling to my death like a derp in the Buddha room. Transit: zombies spawning in the space between crowds of zombies. Auto weapon switch. Fn auto weapon switch... 10 foot wide gap that i can't get through... Last zombie succeeding in killing itself off despite my best efforts to protect it. And: your sign in status has changed. My toe + either power or drawer button.

I voted for a vote, but probably mod decision is better.

Bayview Safeguard trolley got me again. I really wanted that Widowmaker but the trolley wanted it too...and my hands. Game over again. Called in a c.p. on Containment, in the s.e. Lands in the back of the pick up, and ironically, i can't pick it up. Glitched package. Called one in on Strikezone into stuff, but was able to pick it up. Join game of Fog tdm. Walk through the big house (called 'grainery' in game), i breach the floor, an enemy comes in the stairs area and starts firing on me. I'm still recovering from the breach, i start hipfiring, i see his bullets hit me, but I'm alive. I train my bullets on him, we both run out of ammo, i stab him since he closed the distance between us, then reloaded. He finished reloading, stabbed me. I wandered down the steps and left the game. Got killed and fell through the map, death cam following me down. Playing versus bots (tdm, 2-10), a bot gets the 'predator' killstreak and just runs into us. It doesn't try to stab or shoot us, just kept running into us. This would happen often in bo1 bots games: once or twice per night a bot would just run into us without firing/stabbing. I spawned on an enemy i.m.s. That's this week's weird. More to come. Edit: i tried to get in that sniper spot in the crawler on Ignition. I'm peering over the highest panel, standing on the one behind it, when i fall between them. You can't get out. My team (randies) destroyed the other team, i sat there alone for the rest of the game at 2-0. And: this just happened; i spawn into a game, i realize that my teammates all have enemy-colored names, so i open fire on a guy uselessly. Then all 5 start firing at me and stabbing me add i jump and spin in circles. Wandered off and left the game.

Cool stuff. Now if they would just add in BO2s grenade scavenging... Edit: i know that they had it in domination for a while, taking a flag would count like a kill.

I did say "on occasion", not regularly. Still, I am only pointing out that, although it sold well, a lot of people either traded in Ghost or stopped playing it. Activision have done everything to try and get sales, including free weekends, heavy discounts and mass promotion and it is not working. Still, I am not trying to start arguments about which is better. You seem to have a dislike for earlier Treyarch MP titles, where as I prefer them to IW's. It is all a matter of opinion at the end of the day. I personally think MW2 was just out done by BO1 MP. WaW MP was also really well done. My opinion on the OP, which is supported by statistics is that a zombie only DLC or Micro Transactions could still cut a profit even after 5+ months. I think it could because numbers for zombies is strong enough. If 50,000 people paid $5 a map, or $20 for a bundle, that would be $1,000,000 return. I am sure it would not cost even half that to produce some reskinned maps. The reason why I don't think it will happen, and why it didn't happen in the first place is because zombies moved to the MP engine, and that would mean they would need to remake the maps from scratch. It would have took too much time, and still would. Sorry. Did mean to sound dicky. I don't actually have numbers of highest amounts of players, et cetera, so i should not have even opined. How you can say bo1 trumped mw2 is mind boggling. But let's not get into it. But i do have a comment on Ghosts: one reason why it's not as popular, in my opinion, is that the cod mp players who would like this game have been ignored since mw2. Bo1 got rid of maps and replaced them with arenas. Mw3 came out with more arenas instead of maps. Bo2, again, arenas full of invisible barriers where you spawn looking at someone, or someone is looking at you. Playing the map and map knowledge died with mw2. Now idiocy ward takes a stab at real maps again, but that demographic gave up on cod years ago. Cod has been attracting the 'spawn in a box' nuketown/firing range crowd. I'm predicting that ghosts popularity will grow as the word gets out that this isn't another arena shooter, that you have to actually move or camp to get kills. Map knowledge and playing the map are back. To keep it in perspective, i loved bo2 despite the arena maps, constant spawn kills. I ran around full speed shooting whatever moves, but give me stealthy, more realistic ghosts battles any day. Bo2 and ghosts both have good guns, good perks, decent functionality, but ghosts beat up bo2s maps, pantsed them, and took their lunch money. And we all applauded. Anyway, the future of codz is Safeguard. (innocent whistling) I'll just leave now...
-
Um, I'm just going to inject some reality here. I have played bo2 like mad, I've played ghosts like mad. I once saw bo2 up to 140,000 players, never anywhere near half a million, that's just b.s. Both rise and fall. I'm as surprised as most that Trollarch made a decent cod game for once. Once. Currently on a boring Monday night, both are hovering around 125,000 with ghosts slightly higher and about 10,000 playing zombies. Both have great multiplayer. Cod fans generally ignore dlc, not because it sucks, but because they only want to vote for the same 3 maps anyway, so why buy dlc in their minds? BO2 dlc sold much more due to zombie fans. I'm not getting involved in the rest of these arguments.

Hey fellow zombier! Try the Teammate Finder thread, where there is even a 'spur of the moment' forum, you'll get much better responses there. Happy gaming!

Well, we are talking high rounds. When the LSAT stops killing, the recoiliscious HMMR still kills. Until then, the LSAT is easier to use.

Shotguns: these are basically in 2 groups; close trigger spam (bulldog/tac12) and less-close accurate shots (MTS, FP6). Bulldog: this is your run and trigger spam shotgun. Recommend fast perks, sleight of hand, muzzle break, extended mags. FP6 and MTS-255 are similar. The FP6 has a little more range, the 255 fires noticeably faster. Recommend FP6 muzzle brake and slug, to maximize it's distance potential. Recommend MTS-255 muzzle break and grip. This is like a longer range, less spammable Bulldog, with the cool revolver style chamber. TAC 12: this offers a smart choke for a tighter ads spread, which is basically useless on guns that shoot 20 feet. While almost spammable like the bulldog, this has an overly long reload time. Easily one of the worst guns in the game. Worst shotgun for sure. Edit: this gun can beast, this gun can be a hitmarker machine. Amazing at distance headshots with the Slug attachment/rds. Well, that's my take on Ghosts guns, hopefully it helps some of you novice Ghosts players with your class making. Happy gaming all!

Sniper Rifles: these are some of the most powerful guns in the game, split into semi-automatic and bolt action. In a game like cod, where getting a sniper headshot hitmarker or simply firing shots through players without getting a hitmarker is common, i do not like the slowness of the bolt actions. Also, iirc, all snipers have been nerfed to be waist-up kills and silencers tend to give hitmarkers on heads. All require Focus. Maverick A2: this was the other set up for the Onslaught DLC gun 'the Maverick'. It comes with a tracker scope, similar to the tracker sight. This is unlikely to get a kill silenced, ever. Recommend the chrome barrel. Easily the worst of the semi auto snipers. A 'fun' gun, not a pro gun. Recommend r+g style with chrome barrel and ACOG (Focus is required with the ACOG as well). The USR: This is a bolt action sniper, while it fires a little slower than the semi-auto snipers, it kills if you hit them. Making this the most efficient sniper. Hitmarkers are rare. The thermal works well with this. Small maps: recommend chrome barrel, armor piercing. Larger maps: chrome barrel, variable zoom. L115: Bolt action. Originally saw some love, now rarely seen. I have very little experience with this one so far. Lynx: this was one of the best sniper rifles. That being said, the sniper Nerf made this a hitmarker machine on headshots, chestshots, so i moved on to the VKS. VKS: silencer included. Post sniper/silencer Nerf, this is by far the best sniper rifle. Now that they all have the same kill area, why not take a free silencer? I use with thermal, armor piercing rounds, to easily take out choppers/sentries/juggernauts. Note that, if spamming shots with the Lynx or VKS, that the reticle will reset on your target before the barrel does. While not possible in real life, this is what happens in ghosts. So either wait a half second after your reticle resets, or aim down and left of your target to spam shots, rather than rely on the inaccurate reticle. Edit: I've used the bolt actions a bit more. They appear to still be 'knee and up' kills. Both the USR and 115 play similar, yet the USR seems to be slightly more user friendly. Especially for Overkill/secondary sniper, where you can't change the camo, be wary that the 115s color is bright yellowish-green and it's easy to see from a distance. By contrast, the USR is black and is much harder to see. This is good if want to hide unseen; pick the USR.

Marksman Rifles: these can all be deadly in the right hands. I have no recommended set up, use in the way that makes you happy, these are versatile guns. I tend to use iron sights, but play around with the options. Recommend the first 3 over the SVU. MR-28: grip included for reduced recoil. Shortest effective range, fastest fire. MK14 EBR: great gun, highest damage per round, but they are all powerful. IA-2: sounds most bad-ass, great gun. SVU: the fun and popular bo2 sniper returns as the most forgettable marksman rifle. Best damage at range, but overall, lacking. You'll almost never see this online. Arguably one of the worst guns.
-
Light Machine Guns (lmgs): these are all usable enough. A little heavy to move, best for holding an area. Ameli: slow, stable for long range. Not bad, not great. Recommend muzzle brake, grip. M27-IAR: a little shakier than the Ameli, but retains damage at range. Recommend rapid fire, grip. Probably the second best lmg. LSAT: Easily the best, easiest to use lmg. Recommend grip, rapid fire. This is a laser; works well at all ranges. Chain SAW: hipfire only, laser sight for smaller hipfire reticle. Holding the left trigger tightens the hipfire. I use rapid fire and muzzle break to maximize damage. This is clearly one of the worst guns in the game. I have used it a bunch and it just doesn't win gunfights. Also, your character does not hold the rear handle, but sticks his hand into the main body of the gun. Fun when it works, which is rare. Skip Steady Aim, use Focus or the flinch will get you killed.
-
Submachine Guns: all of these are usable. In Ghosts, long range and accuracy weigh in higher than time-to-kill, so unlike BO2, not every smg needs rapid fire. Ripper: DLC Devastation gun. Season pass holders had early access to this. Recommend rapid fire and grip. This gun can switch between smg mode and ar mode. The most noticeable change is the sight, changing from smg iron sight to ar green holographic. Even in smg mode, you can quickly kill across the map. It is the second best smg and one of the top tier guns in the game. You will see this gun often. Edit: Bizon and CBJ got a range buff. Bizon: great cqb gun, not great on long range. Recommend grip/sight. CBJ-MS: Armor piercing rounds included. While all smg's are okay, this is probably the worst. There are much better options for armor piercing rounds/taking out sentries/choppers/juggernauts. Recommend grip/sight. This, like the Bizon is a bitch to use well with rapid fire. Vector CRB: fair gun. High damage, medium rate of fire. In my opinion, there is no better hipfire smg, the reticle is quite small when hipfiring. Recommend Steady Aim, rapid fire, silencer. Also excellent with grip/rapid fire. Vepr: excellent at all ranges, top tier, but usually overlooked for the MTAR-X. This has excellent iron sights, and the highest ammo capacity. Recommend silencer, grip. Rough with rapid fire, not recommended. Good hipfire. K7: another great weapon. The user friendly sights and included silencer make this a great choice for run and gun. Recommend rapid fire, grip. MTAR-X: widely considered the best gun in the game. This is easy mode. With grip and silencer, focus, quickdraw, ready up, you should be a beast to be reckoned with. You will see this gun in most games. Happy s.m.g.ing!

Assault Rifles: generally, all of these are usable. I'll opine on them a little. The single shot option is an odd but usable choice usually needing 2 shots to kill, some of the rifles work well with 3 burst. Maverick (DLC Onslaught gun): hyper-velocity rounds make this destroy up close, but it is not a great long range gun. A good hipfire/cqb weapon. Interesting iron sights. Has it's fans. SC-2010: great gun, generally overlooked, being a starter gun. SA-805: great gun, ugly iron sights. AK-12: the original popular rifle, becoming less popular. FAD: another underestimated rifle that is worth using. Remington R5: this theoretically takes a little longer up close, but maintains damage over range, making this the opposite of the Maverick. One of the best and most popular of the assault rifles. MSBS: 3 round burst. I didn't even use this until after it was nerfed, and it is still a pro weapon. Silenced, expect to need 2 bursts, with muzzle break, 1 burst should kill usually. The full-auto option works decently, but nothing spectacular. Honey Badger: Another perfectly fine automatic rifle, comes with a free silencer. ARX-160: comes with a laser for improved hipfire. This gun sucks. I keep trying to pretend that it isn't one of the worst guns in the game, but it is one of the worst guns in the game. No idea why it costs the most squad points. Rarely seen in use, i have tried it again and again and can't wait to take it off my class to put something better in it's place.

I'll do these in order, except that I'm going to throw the Riot Shield and Combat Knife together in this post. Combat Knife: if you choose no other primary, you get the combat knife. It is a slow, inaccurate, 1 hit kill. You will grab the enemy, stab them, toss them down. Highest movement rate of all weapons. Generally, the tac knife on a pistol is more user friendly for stabbing. Has some style points. DLC3: Gold Combat Knife unlocked at prestige 5. Increased melee speed. Essentially identical to the combat knife, but the 'grab and push' animation is removed. Riot Shield: a primary, that you can't set down, are highly unlikely to get kills with, and makes you quite obvious to see. One of the worst versions of Riot Shield yet. It needs a 1 hit kill option for core, which it lacks. The lightweight frame doesn't make it any better. I've only seen it used, with the radar package, in Domination/Reinforce. Unless you are really keen on playing with this, avoid it as it is fairly worthless. Bragging rights if you can own with this.

More gun talk: I am going to talk from experience about the guns of Ghosts. I'm not picking through code to number crunch and tell you the theoretical best. I am going from experience and from what i see being used. Feel free to opine if you agree/disagree. I am posting basically to help the uninitiated get started in their enjoyment of Ghosts multiplayer. I play online, offline versus 11 bots, Safeguard, some Extinction. I've only had this since the end of the year, but have racked up (15k+) kills, i do some 20+k-0d games, and have 10 soldiers made up (10th prestige) so while i may type some stupids, i am fairly knowledgeable. So... Pistols, the other secondary. Thoughts: the tac knife stabs really fast. Pistols are decent, but usually used for a speed run boost from a slow primary (sniper/lmg) or in a 'out of ammo' situation. Akimbo is not very effective nor recommended. (akimbo got better). M9A1: Not very popular, seems very weak to me. MP-443 Grach, P226: these are the stars of the pistol group. Effective, accurate guns. 44 Magnum: High cool factor, a little inconsistent, slow reload. Usable, but most often seen akimbo with acogs, for the 'i have no idea what I'm doing' patch. Usually kills in 1 headshot. PDW: so bad. If you must use it, put on Muzzle Break. May kill in one burst, more likely to not kill at all. DLC3: Gold PDW unlocked at prestige 10. Automatic, short range secondary. Easily the best of the pistol group. When you unlock it, all of the attachments are also unlocked for it. Back with primaries.

More bot thoughts: 1. Warm up. 2. Give them some class. 3. Custom recipe. 1. Since the addition of bots in BO, people have been doing this: warm up with bots. Some of you never need a warm up, but some have claimed that this improves their game. Simply play 1-11 bots and you get your aim going, get used to fighting multiple enemies at once, and judging when to reload or not. If you get timid about playing other players, take a little bot warm up first. 2. Give bots a class: they play those awful default classes. You don't want them, so why make the poor bots use them? Edit: this is inconsistent; sometimes i can force them to play with made-up default classes, sometimes no. I think some of the updates to the game have glitched then a little, so results may vary. Go to Options> Player Options> Create Default Loadouts. Take Ghosts Loadout 1, make it a decent class. When done, highlight Loadout 1, press x (toggle default loadout) to make it active in game. Hit LB to copy, highlight Federation Loadout 1, hit A to copy, hit x to activate that default class. Do that for each class and the bots will have some better options. If you make a stab only or shotgun only (or whatever) class, be sure to make these default classes up to fit that mode, so that the bots (as well as players) can access the appropriate classes. 3. Custom Recipe: you can then save these Custom Recipes, which will be available under Mode> My Modes. Even available in local. I like to fight bots, and i often play Split Screen with a buddy. Solo: 1-11 mixed difficulty, friendly fire on, 100 kills, unlimited time, default classes. Split Screen: 2-10 no killcam (saves wear and tear on the processor, makes it easier to discern when fighting is actually going on), friendly fire on, 150 kills (highest allowed in Ghosts), unlimited time. Default classes. Happy gaming with AI.

I just learned: Safeguard glitch on Bayview. Edit: apparently the trolley eats Support Drop packages; they vanish if hit by the trolley. Also, the safeguard dogs get stuck on the trolley if they run onto it. Pretty funny. Support drop arrives. I start to pick up crate, trolley hits the crate, crate vanishes, i have no arms/guns and can not use any buttons other than movement. I downed myself to see if that changed anything, but it did not. I could not stab, shoot, activate killstreak, call in squad mate, cycle through killstreaks, nothing. You've been warned. Edit: Now you can grab another package to fix it, you could not do this originally. Happy gaming sans glitch! Edit: these 'no hands' glitches were mostly patched in that you can now usually recover from them. There was a cheat with the explosive ammo. They tried to patch it, but the cheat would happen by accident, now leaving people with no hands. Then they mostly fixed that to not happen, so no ammo glitch, no 'no hands' glitch. Yea. Climb a ladder when minigun times out, no hands, hit Y to get them back. Get killed picking up sd drop = no hands. Grab a different sd gun drop or die/respawn to fix it. (maybe loot item as well). Drop ims/sentry, climb immediately (like to another package above) = stuck with little remote/no hands glitch. Take another Loot item to fix it (maybe sd drop as well).

Additional information added to original post. Edit: Near the end, i will make one post with all of the maps and spots that I've won, and number of players to help other s. Possibly I'll opine on theoretical strategies on map spots for 4 player games (as i usually play 2 man games). Map spots: i will post some map spots as I win more 2 man 20 round games, so that i know that they are viable before i post them. The 2 easiest maps, as far as i can discern are included in the regular 'credited' maps. Warhawk: up the brown steps by the tractor trailer to the 2 rooms. Easily one of the best. Freight: down the steps by the 'malt booster', with that door closed off. The trick is, the last few rounds, move way back to the end of that hall. You get a bunch of juggernauts firing Semtex which destroys the sentry guns that you should have for the last 4 rounds. By going to the end of the hall, they can not kill them easily. Lay on the floor to shoot the feet of the shield guys.
