  1. Hello everyone. I'm back once again with another theory. Today we're talking comic book pages. DISCLAIMER: I'm on my phone at the moment, so I currently can't add pictures. Please continue reading. So naturally, the first thing I did when I saw the comic book loading screen for Buried was analyze the tears. Of course the tear in the shape of a human head is missing, but that's not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about the upper right corner. At first, I couldn't make out what I'm looking at, as normal. But then I took a closer look. While still not finding anything interesting, I did discover that it is not the page after Buried, but is instead the SECOND page after Buried's loading screen. If you look closely at the right edge of the loading screen, you'll see a bit of the edge that page, but also the edge of the page between that one and Buried. Once again, I apologize for not being able to provide images, but Inwill have those ASAP. What do you guys think? Where are we going from here?
  2. I have the season pass and I can play my stuff fine. I'm only switching my Internet off, if that helps.
  3. I've thought about this a lot today. My guess I've come up with today is that if we power a tower, it will be an old west oil rig. Why? Well, to put it simply: -It's based in an old west town and we're underground. It fits the bill. -If it is indeed an oil rig, the oil rig is not only a tower, it's also partially underground, and quite a bit so. Why this means is that if we power it, it would not only send the sparkley lights of doom into the air, but also and more importantly down into and throughout the Earth Just my two cents.
  4. Thanks EJ. We should have a Skype brainstorming session tomorrow. We're missing something here. I can feel it.
  5. I' posting from my phone, so I apologize for any mistakes. At this point, I'm grasping for straws. But who says that once Weasel escapes, assuming he goes back to the real world, he automatically publishes his comics? Or, better question. What year is it when he reappears in the real world? I mean, this wouldn't be the first time we've had time travel in our plot. Right now, I'm trying to think of ways that this makes sense and pieces together, but I honestly can't say that MoTD is part of our comic.
  6. What photos are we talking about, precisely? The only thing I see as anything similar to a photograph is the Green Run post card. Ordinarily, I would agree with you. But, in the loading screen for Great Leap Forward, we see the post card stuck between the NTZ loading screen and the GLF loading screen, as if the author had an afterthought as if to explain where the N4 came from. Also note the fact that the Green Run and Great Leap Forward loading screens ARE COMIC BOOK PAGES, whereas Mob of The Dead is not. Every map up until Mob of The Dead has been in the comic book in a loading screen in some way, even Call of The Dead as a movie advertisement. EDIT: I know the photographs you're talking about now. Honestly, I have no idea. BUT there is no saying where the photographs indeed take place, as in if they're in the Comic Book Story or Alcatraz Story. For all we know, they could be promotional post cards to help advertise the book. They could be postcards of the areas that inspired the comic book. Or they could be postcards inside the comic book. But the point is, we don't actually know where they come from. What we DO know is that they are in a comic book regardless, thanks to the loading screens of every other map, as well as the Green Run and Great Leap Forward loading screens.
  7. PRECISELY! The N4 are indeed part of the Comic Book Theory. At this point, I don't see why not. That would be a bit silly though, seeing as how the O4 would be completely unaware of their creator. After all, they are but ink on a page. What implications does this have on the story though? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Why is it important that we know who wrote the comic books?
  8. Recently on here, there has been a lot of commotion as to whether or not Al wrote the comic books that are the zombie story. His quotes seem to confirm this, which is why this theory might not be as much of a stretch as you might think. Al DID write the books, and Al is the reason the perks are there. The perks(excluding Electric Cherry)are NOT being torn from time and space to be at Alcatraz. They are being torn from the comic books themselves. What I'm proposing now means that we officially have two storylines: The Comic Book Story, which includes the O4, the COTD Crew, the "Five" Crew, and the N4. The new story is the events in Alcatraz/Hell/Purgatory, which I shall dub the Real Life Story. If we look at the colors that the perk machines flicker, it is black and white. They're not color inversions, just black and white, almost as if they're just a pencil sketch. That's because they are. They are merely an illusion created by whoever is controlling the zombies at the time. They do this in MoTD because they are being torn from the comic books. They do NOT do this in the other maps in the Comic Book Story because of the fact that there, they are canon. They belong there. They are part of the story. So what about Electric Cherry? Simple. It was a drink in the Real Life Story, and possibly the inspiration for the perks in the Comic Book Story. That's all there is to that. What are your guys' thoughts on this? I feel it makes much more sense than the "They're Being Ripped From Their Own Time" theory, as there are way too many holes to explain that theory.
  9. Personally, Nai, I feel Where Are We Going is more of the perspective of the group as a whole, due to the fact that when we start the map, they are VERY confused as to what's going on and wanting to know where to go. So they come up with the solution of executing the escape plan. Rusty Cage feels to me to be the perspective of Al, solely because of the fact that he was the engineer of the escape plan. He merely needed other prisoners to assist him in building the plane and gathering the parts, so he got Sal, Billy, and Finn to do so, seeing as how they were three of the most skilled and notorious prisoners there. He wanted out. He could care less about the other three. He used them to attempt to get what he wanted. But sadly, they turned on him and killed him. Remember, if you want to feel like you're being cheated out of your soul, Al's your man.
  10. Oh, I know. I too am skeptical and have not yet gotten a chance to watch the video of their game. Just thought I would toss that onto the table in the event that it's happened to anyone else.
  11. If it helps any at all, my friends were playing the other night and claim that they got a book beside their point values similar to the Navcards, and it just randomly appeared as they played. Sadly, I do not have video to back up this claim, so take it with all the salt you want.
  12. It's as plausible as anything else.
  13. Just because we're talking about Johnny Cash being the singer of the hidden song, I'm going to laugh if the song is "Ring of Fire."
  14. Updated the thread with new information from the cinematic today. So far, the theory is standing pretty well.
  15. Looks to me like a clothing mannequin like you would find in a store, not a person. And yes, I agree that's far too simple. It's just an idea ;D
  16. Yes, that's pretty much how it would continue. It's either/or depending on where they actually escape to. I do believe the chairs are on the Golden Gate Bridge though. As for breaking the cycle, perhaps you have to die from something that isn't the chairs? That sounds broken to me.
  17. As seen by the bold and underlined text, purgatory is a state of suffering. Of everlasting damnation. I believe the Purgatory Mode in MoTD goes a bit farther than the afterlife that we have seen. In the MoTD Behind the Scenes video, one of the developers tells us that we start out in purgatory mode. Why? Well, at the start of the map, our characters are already dead. Yes, I am implying that our characters are currently in a hell type state of being. Think of the Greek myths, in the Fields of Punishment, where people were sent if they did wrong, and they were tortured into doing a task that will never be able to be completed. Our prisoners have already tried escaping, but they died doing so. This would in turn somewhat explain the zombies having red eyes and a new announcer. So based off of this assumption, we can deduce that the prisoners' task would be to repeatedly try and escape the island, forever, never succeeding. This is the cycle that we hear about in the achievements. Build the plane, launch the plane, die. They will never be able to escape the prison. Now, their death wouldn't be as simple as just dieing. Nonono. That would be too simple. In order to add insult to injury, they must electrocute themselves in the electric chair. This will send our poor, damned heroes back to the start of the map, to repeat the cycle all over again. The best part? They wouldn't retain their memories of their previous attempts, so they would unknowingly continue to escape the island, not knowing that they have died already. This is the meaning (or at least I think) behind Purgatory in Mob of The Dead. Now, the cycle is continued once the heroes kill themselves via electrical chair, so how do we break it? Simple. We don't die because of the electric chair after we escape the island. Zombie kills us, we fall off, we blow ourselves up, etc.. What do you guys think? ===================================================================================== UPDATE 4/15/2013 Today, a new cinematic trailer was unveiled to us. In this trailer, the four characters are seen dying. So far, this proves the theory that they are in a state of limbo true. Also, in Al's Diary, he mentions Icarus. I believe this is in reference to the plane we'll be building as what he is calling the plane. This to me indicates some foreshadowing that the plane is going to fall out of the sky and crash. Not the best name, eh?
  18. I would agree with you, but I don't agree. The easter eggs in maps nowadays are no longer easter eggs. They ARE the side quests. Easter eggs are just what we call them, as sort of a small, mini-tradition. In zombies, the easter eggs are the side quests.
  19. Thanks Afro. Was just working on that myself.
  20. Hello everyone. Another quick thread just noting an observation. At about 4:13 seconds into the trailer, the person playing picks up a Max Ammo. The surprise here was that it was Sam who announced the power up. Anyone as confused as to what's going on here as I am? Discuss.
  21. It does look a lot like a loading screen. Something smells fishy here.
  22. Hello, everyone. Tak here with a short thread about the one thing I want to discuss right now: The easter egg. In the trailer, I believe Treyarch has shown us everything we're going to need to complete the Easter Egg. Treyarch has said that the prisoners want to create a plane in order to escape the island, and put this into the trailer to tell us how the prisoners planned to do it. Is this the Easter Egg? Likely most of it. Is everything here? I doubt it. Feel free to discuss, and I will be working on transcribing what most of the harder to read things say. Transcripts Remember this Al don't forget!
  23. Played some Die Rise today. I could not recreate the zombie holding his head scenario. I can double confirm that killing the zombies as any character triggers the voices in Stu's head.
  24. I made a thread regarding the fact Samuel hearing Richtofen. You can see it right here! viewtopic.php?f=103&t=28924 Now, as for drops, the fact that Richtofen makes them, essentially creating new matter through the Aether is likely, seeing as how he is an omnipotent being, and we don't know the full extent of his powers.
  25. I agree completely. This calls for an investigation!
