Are we drifting away from "Classic" Zombies?
DeathBringerZen replied to GameChanger's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Yeah, that is a pretty good assessment of the game. I understand the progression of the game but feel they implemented to many things that made the game too easy overall, but my main concern is when a map becomes too easy, it then kills off any longevity unless of course the side quests offer something worthwhile. I just feel none of the EE's were worth doing more than once. The Buried end-game would have been good if the map was better, or if the allowed the box to be activated on other maps like Tranzit or Die Rise as opposed to just Buried. Origins felt like the most unrewarding of them all, but that is just my opinion, and I know that it is not necessarily the views of everyone. -

There is instances on CotD, Shangri La and Moon where doing certain steps increases the chances of getting the aforementioned weapons easier from the box. Also, the items that are pulled from the box do not have to be used for the EE. None of the previous maps EE's were forced, or felt that way. I only do the Moon EE every time I play it because it is A: Fun to do, and B: Worthwhile. On Origins, you need to do some of the steps in order to get the staff and then to upgrade them. People may not look at them as part of the EE, but they are. You cannot progress with the EE without getting the staff or upgrading them. I get what people are saying though with regards to the staffs and upgrading them and I did say already that I misinterpreted some of the steps required in upgrading them, but with this aside, the map is still tedious and a chore to play through. At least maps like Moon were fun to play on irregardless of doing the EE. Origins is just not fun in my opinion... EE or not! Still... this is just my opinion. I have played the map a few times without doing the EE and just don't find it fun in the slightest. -

My highest round without building any staffs in round 57 with no downs. Was no challenge whatsoever to be honest. That is one of the reasons I don't enjoy it. I get what you are saying about the 'Damned if they do and damned if they don't' though. Not every map is going to be to every ones taste, but I just felt Origins was not a good map for a final DLC. It has no holding power for me personally. It got boring after a week of release and I have only played it once since the first week. Tried going back but after a few rounds I just give up on it. Same for most BO2 maps. There is no challenge to any of them. Maybe NTZ but I personally think that was a wasted and rushed opportunity. All the other maps are extremely easy to hit high rounds, and it is more so that zombies has become time based rather than skill based. My own view is that Treyarch intentionally made zombies easy on BO2 to cater for the people who were not so good at the game mode in an attempt at cashing in on the mode more so than ever. On WaW and BO1 it as a challenge to hit high rounds. This is not the case anymore. :( -
Is Extinction the future of codz forum?
DeathBringerZen replied to Z0M3IE_SLAYA_115's topic in Extinction Mode
Yeah... it pretty much looks like Survival Mode from MW3 but with aliens as the enemy. From what I have seen, it looks nothing like zombies. Not even remotely similar. I also don't think it is round based, but more wave based. Does not look very appealing at the moment, but time will tell. I don't think it is going to be the future of the forum though. -

Moon was easy when played with 2 players, but 3&4 player games could see the excavator not come until the later rounds so it added a bit of challenge to it. It was also the final DLC, so was nice to have such an epic reward that would help the map become very popular amongst the fans. EE's are what helped prolong the longevity of maps, and none of the EE's in BO2 are worth doing. Origins should have been the epic EE that you would want to do every time. Treyarch were well aware that this is what the fans expected, and even trolled us throughout the map by having Samantha tell us that "when we free her, we will be rewarded beyond our imagination". Hmm... Either way, the Origins map itself is ok, but I found the EE in it's entirety completely terrible. I did not enjoy doing any of it when we did it first time and find all the features within the map poorly executed. Take the perks for example. If all 4 players want to have 8-9 perks each, it would take a crazy high round to achieve. What is even the point then!? The thunder fists have got me down more times than I can count. The terrible knifing system in BO2 is to blame there, and the crazy place is not the best of rewards in my opinion. I understand that you may think it is a great map with great features, but a lot of people do not. Unfortunately, this is a debate that will go nowhere because opinions do vary but apart from a few comments here and there, everyone else I speak to hates it, and from a friends list made up with only fellow slayers, I have no one on my friends list who still plays it... from 100 people! -

DeathBringerZen replied to GameChanger's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I was under the assumption that you needed to kill zombies with the thunder fists down in the crazy place when upgrading the staffs, but I now believe that may not be the case. If so, then it is not so bad, but it still does not make me feel any differently towards the map unfortunately. I just don't really enjoy it that much. I get what you are saying about comparing Moon with Buried as opposed to Origins, but if that was the case, then surely we should have expected something that could be seen as being more epic than all the perks permanently? I know that sounds terribly selfish, but at the end of the day Treyarch know what we want. We wanted rewards and things that were worth going for. Origins did not really give us anything. I know people say we get opened crazy place, upgraded fists and the drone upgraded, but that is not really a great reward. The fists are very glitchy and the crazy place is not so big and spacious when 4 people are down there together. I also find the reward not appealing enough to warrant doing it every game, which is a shame. -

Building them is not so bad. It's the process in upgrading them. It is a fairly lengthy and required obtaining unrelated things, like the thunder fists. But you are right about the EE for sure. Having reviewed it in my mind, there is still a handful of tricky steps afterwards. Still... the process is still tedious in my opinion, though that is just my opinion, and I know that it is not the opinion of everyone. Still feel the EE is unrewarding though and not very good either. I did however find the challenge feature a nice touch. -

DeathBringerZen replied to GameChanger's topic in General Zombies Discussion
It is nothing like getting the Moon reward. For a start, the super fists are completely useless. They miss all the time when going in for a punch and the recoil is far too slow. As for the walls falling, well I can have that without doing the EE if I leave the staffs, which I do when I play a rare game. In regards to it being half the EE. It pretty much is. You have to do a fair amount of steps to get them upgraded, and once upgraded there is not much left to do to finish the EE. On solo it's not so bad upgrading one though, but you are made to get the fists in order to upgrade, and I would rather not have them tbh. They are awful. I can understand if some people enjoy the map still though, but I find the tasks extremely tedious. EE aside, the map is ok as I said previously, but it's not great. Not by a long shot. -
Are we drifting away from "Classic" Zombies?
DeathBringerZen replied to GameChanger's topic in General Zombies Discussion
That is not exactly true though, as a lot of people I know are not really EE players and they seem to hate it BECAUSE it is EE driven. That is one of the reason I personally don't like it. You are forced to do the majority of the EE if you want the ultimate staffs and it get's beyond tedious after just a few games. Personally, I did not find the Origins EE fun at any stage. It was a repetitive chore and was completely unrewarding for it's efforts. The map itself is ok. I have had some fun co-op games on it but it was not worthy of being a final DLC map. It looked so good before it was released too. I understand that not everyone hates it, but I still think the majority do. I don't see many people say they like it. As for longevity... I am such a big fans of zombies that I don't really play anything else anymore. I still play WaW and BO1 very regularly and still am not really tired of any of those maps. I stopped playing BO2 7 days after Origins was released on XBOX and have only went back to it once since then. I put it on now and again but when I try to select a map, I just think "Meh" and put BO1 on instead. I just don't think the maps are good enough to tide me over till the next game. They are all too heavily objective based with the exceptions of Die Rise and NTZ and it means quick games are out of the question unless you want to play the aforementioned maps, and I am not a fan of either. Die Rise is ok on solo, but the terrible spawn ratio per player ruins it on co-op. I wanted Origins to be something epic. I don't think it comes even close to it. -

Popularity? I am not sure where you are getting that from but the majority of people I know hate Origins, and most of what I have read online is negative. Even people who like the map would admit that despite enjoying it every now and again it WAS a letdown of epic proportions. I absolutely hate all the tasks in Origins and will be disgusted if they continue the trend in the next game, as will many others. MotD got the same kind of heat for being repetitive due to the tasks required within the game. Origins just took the piss with it. Also, aside from the 3 or 4 actual puzzle steps in the Origins EE, all the rest of it was just killing zombies here, killing zombies there, killing them here again etc. To answer your main question though... YES! These maps do drift away from "classic" zombies, but that is not a bad thing if done right. MotD did it right to an extent. Origins failed at it spectacularly. How can we go from a map like Moon, where we do the EE every game because it enhances the experience to a map like Origins where we do the EE once and NEVER want to do it again!? -
Yeah, it was made by ZCTxCHAOSx who has made some other great maps. Yote's Lair was the map the convinced me to go custom. I remember seeing a video and thought... Damn... I want in on that. I bought WaW that very day and got the map running within a few hours. I have never turned back. Thanks you for that Brian.

So very true. It is SO rare, when people get it they make a big song and dance about it, and in public lobbies I can see randoms leaving if they lost it for sure. "You better revive me or I am leaving. It was your fault I died. This is bullshit man" "Dude! I had the Mark II there... Why didn't you revive me? F*cking noob!" XXXXXXXX HAS TIMED OUT
-
I am going to do the very same thing. I just have this overwhelming need to play zombies now. It was Yote who got me into the custom zombie scene through his videos, and I even had the pleasure of playing with him once. The guy was a legend on this scene and was respected by everyone who knew him. I am going for a high round on Black Ops 1 tonight for sure.
-
So... it has emerged that Yoteslaya was killed last night after his pickup truck collided with a train. He and his two passengers were killed instantly. He did so much for this scene, and was a joy to watch. My thoughts go out to his family on this day. RIP Bro. :(

Really the credit should be going to YourMapper and this site. -
Reaper is from Germany and has a bit of difficulty when translating his words in English. @Reaper - I still have never had the Mark II on Tranzit despite spending well over a combined 2,000,000 trying to get it and only once on Die Rise, so I agree with you on it being somewhat shit that it can be obtained by 4 players easily on Buried, but nearly impossible for one person to pull it on any other map (except Town which seems to be extremely easy to get it on). Sure, I get that it is a rare weapon, but come on... so rare that it is near impossible to get!? If I had it maybe a few times on other maps then fair enough, but having never got it on Tranzit and once of Die Rise (on round 59 might I add!) is a bit of a joke. Another reason why I have stopped playing BO2 zombies.

Is it possible to be a consistent solo player?
DeathBringerZen replied to TEHELFIE001's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I would consider myself as a consistent enough high round player, but the biggest hurdle for me in getting to high rounds seems to be from round 1 to 20. Until I get to the 20ish mark my games can end through all sorts of different issues because I am usually not rooted to one spot, and am still going around setting myself up. Until a player gets into his sweet spot and plays the game out, no one can really consider themselves consistent, as even the best players fall on round 1. -
Micro Transactions Proof?? Shangri La

lol Yeah... expect more of that... especially since Mr Down is now claiming to be the mastermind being this new 'Extinction' game mode also. -
Micro Transactions Proof?? Shangri La
DeathBringerZen replied to CodeNamePizza's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I have just checked the recent games and found nothing there. Does not mean it's fake though, but with Ghosts due out very soon, and with it having it's own zombie style game mode (we assume), It seems unlikely. My guess... definite fake. -
I play on XBOX and PC, and also play a lot of custom zombies. Feel free to add me on Steam or in-game (World at War) and I will play anytime you need another. Steam ID : DeathBringerZen WaW ID : DB-Zen Look forward to slaying to zombies with you sometime.

Jimmy's latest Tweet! Mule Kick-esque gift?
DeathBringerZen replied to DeathBringerZen's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Exactly. Most of the dedicated players have maxed out all of their/our leaderboards. I have hit my peak on most of them and have no real motivation to go back into these maps anymore, but the addition of Wunderfizz across the board would definitely make me want to return. I would love to see Tombstone on Die Rise, or Who's who on Tranzit. How about making insane leaps of faith in Die Rise using flopper. Mule Kick on Tranzit would be a god send. It may seem a little far fetched to some, but then so did the idea of new perks being added into the BO1 maps, and that DID happen. I think Treyarch care about their community, and the zombie fans too. They have a part of the building modeled and dedicated to the game mode. It is not out of the question for them to give us a parting gift.
