  1. To answer your questions: yes, you can leave the area and come back and previous work still counts. You can use any melee option to get the kills - regular knife, shield, thunder fists, or ultimate staves. Shield is the safest (imo) but it takes about 3 shields between the two spots.
  2. Nice guide, with good effort. Once I figure out a few more strategies, I'll probably write my own guide. I've tried out so many strategies on this map, you wouldn't believe it.
  3. Same here. I couldn't pass that step.
  4. Thanks for the responses guys! Alright, so I did some further testing on the Lightning Staff since some of you were recommending it. I have an easy camping strategy that I use to get to 30, after which I begin to run trains, which is when I can really see what a staff has got. (I tried the Lightning Staff for camping as well, and though you guys say it works like a Sliq, it has a time limit on how long the reaction goes.) After 30, I would use it on my trains. To be honest, it left me disappointed - the staff makes crawlers (meaning it's not good for high rounds), and when I used the charge on full train, it doesn't seem to take all the zombies out, just a few. So this staff is not the best one for high rounds, especially Solo (sadly).
  5. What's up, people? I've been playing this map almost non-stop since it came out and have been trying a large variety of strategies, setups and train spots. The thing I've been focusing on lately is a staff-focused solo strategy. Now, from a bunch of different experiences, I've tried each of the staffs. So far this is how they compare (ultimate versions of course): Ice Staff - Can be gotten early (Round 6-7). Not exceptional for camping or getting you out of jams, but seems to be really good at taking out trains and has decent ammo. Wind Staff - Can be gotten early (like the Ice Staff), but can also take a long time depending on whether the robots want to co-operate or not. Has low ammo, but is by far the best at saving you in your time of need. Not too good at taking out trains. Fire Staff - You can get this without going out of your way too much, but you must kill the Panzer to get it, which means you need a good secondary before getting it. Has a very nice amount of ammo and can kill your train decently (if you have good aim and training skill), but sometimes the zombies can avoid the fire pits. Lighting Staff - Takes 2 rides of the tank to get, and seems to be ok at killing trains, but is terrible at saving you in a jam. Has the most ammo. What I am not certain of is which staff would be best for a long solo run. I usually shy away from the Lightning Staff because it has such a slow killing rate (and upgrading it is very annoying), but I can't seem to pick between the others. In theory the Wind Staff wouldn't be good because it has low ammo, but until you pass the 40's, the hectic spawn rates of the zombies make training dangerous. Anyone have some opinions for me? I'm leaning towards the Ice Staff, but I see a lot of people on the forums seem to like the Fire Staff.
  6. 5and5 pretty much said what I was thinking. I'd also add that one starting strategy you can try that mostly eliminates him as a problem is to go for the Ice Staff asap. You can get it and upgrade it by round 6-7 in a Solo game, reliably. The main thing is the random chance of snow - if you are lucky, it'll snow in rounds 3, 4 or 5, and that's all you need plus the luck to get the pieces while it's snowing.

I used to have a hard time finding it too. If it's not in the usual places, move the tank and look on the crates to the tank's left, it can spawn there.
  8. I was just in a game on Round 30 with 2 ultimate staffs and all my stuff, fully set up. I had the Golden Helmet and saw a robot coming, so I went underneath it when it stepped on me to get my train killed. Well, as my screen is dark, I see my Zombie shield icon disappear, and as the foot goes up, I'm slapped down and die. The zombies can run through the foot when you're using the Golden Helmet, so you can still die (and be completely helpless too) when you're underneath the foot. Use the helmet at your own risk. Also, please patch if you see this, Treyarch.
  9. You're right. I also gathered this, because the first piece of the Maxis Drone (in the starting room) is brains. It's the same room where Richtofen is dissecting him in the intro (but the body is gone now), and between in-game quotes and the Richtofen diary on Xbox Live, Richtofen says that Maxis became infected and that he tried to save as much of him as he could. Also when the Maxis Drone is built, Maxis says "I can't feel! What have you done, Richtofen?"

  11. Feels like outdoor MotD with a ton more things to do, and more setup time than TranZit. This is the hardest map on BO2, I think... at least the first several rounds are.I have probably eaten over 50 downs today from this map. You die so fast it's not even funny. And if you go down, chances are that if you don't have monkeys, it's game over. I feel like this map is indeed challenging; it's gotta be if I couldn't get past round 12 in the first 5 hours. This is the map we've been waiting for: a map where you can really show how much skill you've got (right now, at least). I think they overdid the elemental staffs part though. Like i said, so much about this map echoes Mob. Feeding the dogs, filling the chests. New Mystery Box designs. A lot of unexpected weapons in the box. Multiple places to buy the same wall guns. A really annoying, randomly spawning mid0round boss like Brutus (but way, way gayer). Lots of places to get stuck. Tight, narrow passageways with no open training spots. Build your buildables wherever you want (the Maxis Drone is pretty cool, but I can't find the last Zombie shield piece D: ). Annoying PaP routine (though the machine looks really neat). Overall I think this is gonna be remembered as one the best BO2 maps for hardcore Zombies fans. I like it so far, however I have been feeling like raging a lot because of really stupid deaths.
  12. You could just as easily explain that by saying that they meant that Zombies in general aren't real, which makes Zombies in WW1 and so forth an alternate reality, since you're playing in a setting based off a real location and a real set of events along with some things like the zombies that were never real.
  13. That new picture looks so much like Skyrim, if I didn't know it was from Origins I'd think it was from Skyrim. Looks like a Draugr Deathlord from that game. On a more serious note, I agree, looks like a buried knight. This map looks like it's going to be very epic, the more I see. Edit: Can anyone else see the sword handle at his waist? Definitely seems to support the knight idea.
  14. I've gotten the Mark 2 thrice on maps other than Buried. Once on Nuketown (early on, so lucky), once on Mob (in the first box location), and yesterday on Die Rise. Took about 40,000 points to get it on Die Rise. I got the regular Ray Gun at least 3 times before the Mark 2. This weapon is definitely a lot rarer than any other. I've never gotten it except in Buried (pretty much every game I play on that map) other than these three times.
  15. ^ This. I was watching the Origins film and the section where they were showing the map from the design perspective and I saw patches of white peridocally along the map in certain areas. Perhaps they're the places where the robot steps, like footstep places? Maybe he'll walk through once a while in those places and like Jason suggested, perhaps you can put him to use by leading your train over the places he steps so he can kill them. Just a thought.
  16. While you're making good observations, I'd like to point out that through their Origins trailer, Treyarch has basically told us that the Rezurrection re-dos of the original WaW maps are to be taken cannonically. So the remakes override the older versions. That being said, I don't think we should consider the original two Zombies maps (Nacht and Verruckt) in WaW to mean anything at all for our storyline or our understanding of Treyarch's world of Zombies. The colors of those maps, with Sam or not, mean nothing. Unless you're talking about the versions we play in BO1.
  17. I think you guys are over-thinking this. And, to be honest, until the map comes out, we will not know for certain who the zombie controller (if any) is. I lean toward thinking that there IS a controller for Origins. Why? Because there always has been, and because I doubt Treyarch will take out the familiar "Max Ammo!" and "Insta-Kill!" announcements we're used to hearing. It's possible that there may be no controller, but until the map comes out, speculation really yields no results.
  18. Can you link me to your source for this?
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtdDRuQvzgI Skip to 3:43 in this video and you'll see the box light. We know it's the box light because of the way the beam flickers. Looks exactly the same as TranZit. Blue. You can also see the light again at 4:39.
  20. For those saying that there is no controller in Mob, play Grief and then come back. Like it or not, there is a controller of red-eyed zombies. We just aren't sure who it is.
  21. So pumped. Definitely this is made by the MotD makers. The tank seems a bit like TranZit's bus, and dynamic weather sounds awesome. Also, looks like some zombies have robot suits. This map has a lot of potential to be so epic.
  22. Good summary, and nice tip for diving in Buried with a sniper. Didn't know you could do that.
  23. Someone confirmed from Treyarch (I read this on my phone at work, before I came home earlier, so I don't have the source on hand) that Apocalypse is the final DLC for BO2. We won't be seeing anymore map packs, so I'd dispell that hope of further DLC for this game. As far as the N4 easter eggs, they were worth something. I have a strong feeling that in 3arc's next COD title, we'll see the start of a new chapter, with Maxis in charge, like we had Richtofen at the start of this one. Just my guess, though.
  24. They look orange/yellow. As in, Samantha's color. That being said, I'm also interested in MOTD's controller, and I am pretty certain MOTD will tie into this map somewhat due to the blood vials shown in the trailer.
  25. Apparently Treyarch does, so yes, I would say they're cannon. The Origins video makes this clear, that Treyarch considers the remake maps to be cannon.
