I recently have began to think that Dead Ops Arcade is indeed, an arcade game within the universe of the comics. Anyone who has played a classic arcade game that was influenced from another form of entertainment will know that the usually do a very loose representation of whatever they are basing the game from. To me, in this case, we have this amazing comic book story, so there is an arcade game based off of the franchise.

Why Are We Attracted to high rounds
Tattoo247 replied to TEHELFIE001's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Well it's pretty much the only goal, short of doing easter eggs, which is definitely not why I keep playing the same game over and over. As someone who has played since a little after Der Riese first released, I just seen the game as wanting you to get as far as you can, most people deny their limitations and that's why some of us push so hard from anything to games, to real life achievements. Part bragging rights, part proving to yourself you're better than you can show, and I guess part of it is just the love of the game, not many games that I play if it's the same thing every time, zombies is the same thing every time, but it still feels different. I enjoy seeing a friend on my list get the number one spot in rounds, it gives me something to beat. I don't even look at the leaderboards on public, I see what my friends top out at, and I try to beat them, it's competitive, yet makes you a better player and keeps the game fresh, usually when I beat someones round, it kicks them in gear to go back and try to top mine, just friendly competition which is always cool. -
Power ups using Lightning and other Staffs Discussion
Tattoo247 replied to Reaper2909's topic in Origins
Last night we had all staves built, and in the spot where the last lightening staff part is (right before the full circle of the tank) there was a insta kill just chillin there, I just thought it was a dead zombie that dropped it but I bet it was from this secret. Appreciate the knowledge! -
So basically, everyone who has read this has their mind blown, and therefor can't reply. I'm going with that. 8-)
-
Thanks yall, my team last night got everything built, made it to 30, the maxis drone and shield was a big part of what I was doing wrong, made a huge difference. Don't know if this is coincidence but after I spent the 30k points and got DT 2.0, I eventually lost it later on by going down, and I got DT out of wunderfizz on my first or second try every time I went down.
-
I get off work in 30 minutes, I'm going to work on learning the last shield location (the fender looking piece) and then I'm going to work on getting the zombies behind me so I can navigate. I think once I get those down I'll be lasting a lot longer know that I know the other things. Someone should really do a "things you didn't know" thread like the one on Buried (not me though lol)
-
My take on it is only a theory and has lots of holes in it but with everyone digging so deep, and making everything very elaborate, I tried to look at it as simple as possible without accepting the obvious. I'm not savvy enough on here to make color text, or include pictures. It's just a quick skim of what has been playing in my head while I've been away. I still give credit to Tac and MMX for really thinking it all through (with the help of all of us) but I see this thread slowly grinding to a halt and I want to stir up your grey matter Almost, if not all, loading screens have been pages of a comic book, kids like comic books (or they used to anyway...) So my thought is, these two kids, Samantha and Richtofen are fans of this comic book, they own the books, they own the action figures, they even have collectables from the comics story (golden rod, chalk drawings ect ect) they are what we call "super fans" obsessed with one thing the Zombies storyline, in a way, they are us. Look at the quality of the toys they play with, I grew up in the 80s and even my toys weren't that detailed, anything of that quality was to be displayed not played with, if such a quality even existed in the WWII era. This makes me think that perhaps the kids are either close to present time, or a little ahead of our time. Her room looks simple enough, there isn't much there to back up my idea on the time but it really comes down to the comic book. The comics story is aware of JFK, aware of George Romero, aware of our MOTD actors. So in order for that to be possible, the clearest explanation would be they are all people of the past, or present. To explain the maps themselves, I had to think back to when I was a kid, I was everything xmen and ninja turtles, I made these off the wall scenarios where they fought to the death, with the turtles usually winning the war. Now that makes no sense to me these days, but it didn't have to make sense because I was a child, taking a pre-existing story and building off of it in my own image. This is what I think Richtofen and Samantha have been doing. It's known to most of us that Richtofen pretty much knew the whole story as we the players (and the other three in game characters) were learning, only Samantha, Maxis and Richtofen knew, they are the only three real life people in this story. Having all the knowledge of the comics, the two children intertwined themselves into the story. We have all talked about the evil entity that has been in the background of the story for so long, the Evil or whatever we have called him, is the ACTUAL controller of the zombies within the COMIC. The children have imagined overtaking his power, or sharing it to control the zombies as our heroes fight through the comics storyline. That is why Samantha changes the color of their eyes, that is why Richtofen can reset the new characters back to life when they fail, and that is why Richtofen and Maxis share so much history, they all control it, every night is a new game. I am starting to repeat myself here so I'll wrap it up I can't explain grief, I can't explain little sub characters like the woman who Maxis was attracted to, or why there are two girl names in Kino chalked on the wall OR anything about the ripped up page showing our heroes in Templar outfits. But what I can explain is there is an old, old theory I never forgot about that, if you can think it, there is a universe created for it. The games we play within the actual disc, are universes created by the thoughts of two children and an adult. To them it's all a game but in fact they are creating an alternate reality where it's all real, I believe eventually (hopefully in BO3) realities will combine and we can know that Nikolia, Dempsey and Takeo become real and save the actual, unharmed earth from being destroyed. Way out there I know, I almost didn't post it but like I said, just wanted to stir the pot. Hope you enjoyed.

I'll be doing this when I get home, it was a good argument to say four players equals sixteen semtex. Regardless, I see this as harmless if it's considered a glitch. I'm still new to most of the secrets in the map (been away for a bit and been playing other titles) so it's good to save a little time by doing this, even though you still need the zombie blood. Appreciate the knowledge!

Oh man....you can block the claw damn I wish I had known this! I've got pretty good at knifing his button but by then I am swarmed by Zs, I've been underestimating the shield it seems, was not so great in Tranzit and I liked it in MOTD but got good at that map so I kind of just dig in and don't move. It seems all these maps are made to camp now, I dig in PaP in Tranzit, or the bar. NTZ is pretty much the only one that feels like an old map, I train in that map only. Die Rise I stay under the roof where the two elevators are. MOTD of course the bridge or on the other side of the double doors by Jugg, Buried you can camp almost anywhere on that map lol So now I know a few training spots, where are you guys "camping"? I can't think of anywhere you don't have to be aware of all sides, would appreciate some camp spots too in case I do get caught mid round again. Thanks Boom and BS I don't care what these guys say about you, you're alright

Didn't know you could get in the tank...lame. It's pretty useless to ride anyway, unless you are building your staff or want the trophy/achievement. But you're right, you can't leave broken things like that in a game and expect people to continue to play years afterwards.

Poll: Which DLC was the best for Black ops 2?
Tattoo247 replied to Stop Mocking Me0's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Apocalypse, best map layout I've ever seen in Origins, so much work went into that. I'm not much of a MP, Ive had the game since launch and made it to third prestige on the mostly on double xp weekends. I go all in zombie mode when I buy COD now, so Tranzit was fun, but wasn't a map pack, Nuketown was great, but wasn't really a map pack either...kinda but not really. Die Rise was ok for about a month, I just don't think vertical structures worked well enough and falling is always fun when you are good and set up. MOTD was pure genius, scary looking, scary sounding, a side or mirror view of the storyline (was setting us up to accept time loops IMO) and had great weapons and mini EEs, I was not a fan of ending the game with a win though. Buried was a disaster, to this day I can't bring myself to play it because if its shear easiness, that and Ascension are maps I cannot lose to (although oddly Ascension is one of my fav maps) The town looked more like a themed western town, rather than a real western town, just felt like a piece in an amusement park. Origins is still kicking my ass, I took a break from COD once a couple of new titles came out, so coming back to this map it still feels great and I have lots to learn still. I for one, do not buy into the obvious and think the ending will make more sense once we see BO3 or whatever variant of that, so I always love a good cliff hanger. Definitely didn't top blowing up the earth, but still good. What lacked the most in all the maps to me were, the actual steps in the easter eggs, Tranzit was pretty fun to do, and Origins looks fun to finish too, but the rest were tedious, not at all fun. And also, the music was pretty bad in these map packs, some have grown on me a little but I still rock out to the BO1 soundtrack all this time later, I feel the tracks on BO2 will be forgotten about the moment we get our next 3arc game. -
Jimmy Z Tweets - Explaining Rank
Tattoo247 replied to yourmapper's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Also Gibs are body parts, it's been a term that's been around since Doom. And explosion causing modeled guts or body parts are called "Gibs" like in most Mortal Kombat fatalites and anytime you shoot a zombies arm off, or cause splash damage, will count toward gibs. -

So it's all based on downs...well why make a perk that doubles your downs (Whos who) if you fail to pick yourself up? They didn't think they not telling people it was downs, then making a perk to double the downs, THEN making persistent upgrades that rewarded people who went down, would ultimately screw up their chances after the year later when they decide to confirm it? Woooooooow... -
This happened to me the first few days I played, just figured it was patched. At first I thought the giant soldat (or whatever its called) was killing me with his flame thrower, but then there were times I way alone and took hits and died, kind of reminds me of Call of the Dead where I would get a big smack for no reason. Sucks it's still happening, because I thought it was patched. I ride the tank pretty frequently and have yet to go down again because of it. Are you trying to get the trophy/achievement? It's a shame they give you an objective to complete yet have something in the way that makes it close to impossible to get. Or maybe you just need to play it on playstation...because I'm still waiting on you to buy one

The Unwritten Rules Of Zombies(Voting Open)
Tattoo247 replied to Boom115's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Only one rule in my games, you don't have to make a crawler at the end of every round. Use the bathroom, get your snacks/water, make your phone calls before the game starts, or when someone takes a break, take care of your stuff. Too many times I've spent 15-20 minutes on a low round like 12 just because everyone wants to go smoke, come back and chat it up. Breaks are fine if you need them, but don't come back without saying you're ready. Low rounds are not nearly as fun, so I like to blast through them early, with wall weapons and maybe a decent box weapon. It shocks me to see when people are out of ammo, or forgot to pick something up that was obvious (like knuckles on Die Rise). Also I don't care if you like to drink, or do any other mind altering things, but be able to hold your own, can't stand someone acting like a fool because they can't tolerate the things they put in their blood stream. And that folks, is what really grinds my gears  -
Helpful, thanks. I've yet to complete the EE but I can get the staffs put together but I've never upgraded it, I will now that I know you can revive with them. Is it a specific element staff or do all revive? And I didn't know Maxis drone revived  I also had forgotten about the reward box...now I feel stupid knowing I've spent that much quite a few times and still complained about no DT. If I were to go down and lose it, can I spend another 30k and have it re appear? And can someone spend the points themselves, whilst having DT already and let a teammate grab the perk? Anyway extremely helpful, I will start building the shield earlier on in the game too as I do get killed from my back a lot.

So it was false when people said if you went down, you had to start your digs all over again? I give up almost every game trying to get the golden shovel because I'll go down, and I thought it reset everything :?

What they could have, and should have, done with origins
Tattoo247 replied to TheBSZombie's topic in Origins
Yea the atmosphere is spot on for me, the blue grey wash is to represent that period, if you remember Der Riese used a lot of the same muted colors. I still catch myself looking at the giants, they just look so cool coming towards you. IF I had to improve one thing, it would be to have double tap as a buyable, it's pretty much needed these days and I have the hardest time getting it to give me one out of the wunderfizz. That, and they could have made Nikolia a little better, I get that later on he gets fat, and becomes drunk and that's what makes him funny, but not one.single.mention of vodka from the guy, it's nit picky I know but it let me down. And I agree with whoever said it would have been cool to destroy the machines, someone eventually will have to or they would have been explained (unless you're on the It's all a game side of the fence). I was kind of hoping to see the Aliens finally emerge from being in the background of the story for so long, to see them blow up the robots Independence day style would have been sweet. -
Instead of making multiple topics, and digging through old ones to wait on answers, I wanted to list a few questions about the map and a rumor I heard yesterday. First, where are some good training spots other than the generator by speed cola? I can run there just fine but it puts me way too far from others so I rarely can revive, I usually get stuck in a trench and die there trying to make it to parts of the map to revive, would be nice to know ALL spots to train thanks. How do you all move around the map, say if a round starts before you're ready. It seems I can't turn around for more than three seconds without having a swarm come at my back, I've always been used to having windows, and the ones that used to come out of the ground were slower, these just shoot straight out of the ground with momentum. I keep trying to watch my back but I can't get the hang of attacking on the move. I was told there was a Mark 2 in all maps, but as long as I've played this map I've never seen one, granted I don't usually make it past round 10  I was told there were steps to take to aquire some new kind of reviving device, I heard this while working on a client and it sounded sketchy, as he didn't know hardly any story but seemed to know the just of the easter eggs and "endings". It is so hard to revive on this map for me, would be great to have an advantage. Are there any better weapons to find at first other than the mp40? Rarely do I see the box at the generator next to the bunker with an mp40 in it, this is usually the way I go to start, should I be heading toward the side with speed cola first? And lastly, is there any pro tip or secret way of getting Double tap 2.0? It's so stubborn on this map! I can get cherry and flopper almost first try every time, but I spend a lot of points just trying to get DT from the wunderfizz machine, it sure loves giving me mule kick two or three times in a row. I think the biggest problems with this map I'm having, is the fact it is a much quicker pace than I've ever seen on a map, I own all maps for console and up until Origins, considered myself a pretty good player. I hear people say this map is easy and I'm just wondering what I'm missing. I usually play with one or two others and we just all around cant progress very far at all. Tried playing it on easy, but I think that's just making me a worse player

Your most memorable moment of black ops 2
Tattoo247 replied to TheBSZombie's topic in General Zombies Discussion
Most memorable? The midnight release. I was in the last quarter of the line, waited forever it seemed, it was cold and wet, I was hungry and probably irritated (as I am around large groups of people). I get to the counter and am told they accidently preordered my copy for 360, when I only have a ps3. I went to walmart after getting a refund at Gamestop, and seen they hadn't put out any of the games so I asked a girl at the entertainment center where they were, she said they would hit the floors in so many hours, but I wanted mine then. I paid her under the counter to go open a box and get my a copy, which just upped my whole price $20.00. I got my package and went home to enjoy the first night of playing. It's the most memorable because it's such a terrible memory, I went through all that trouble, and spent way too much money on a game that in my opinion, lives in the shadow of it's predecessor. -
Does suiciding accomplish anything
Tattoo247 replied to TEHELFIE001's topic in General Zombies Discussion
1. I only suicide on Buried and Ascension, as they are the only maps I feel I can go on forever. 2. I have 50+ games to play on the ps3 alone, and a few real life friends that like to game with me nightly, if I didn't have so many options I could probably go longer, but that's just another excuse right? 3. It gets extremely repetitive after 50 rounds, it's the same gather, kill, gather, kill that makes it feel not worth playing. I can do different methods or just try to go in with no strategy but that just gets me killed, and is no different than giving up in my opinion, doing something different just because it makes it fresh, yet knowing it will kill you. 4. I suicide at any time (solo) just depending on mood, if I get invited over to a friends or am somehow coaxed to leaving my house, I rarely leave my console on because I'm just nervous like that and don't want my house to burn to the ground because I have to keep killing zombies. Sometimes I suicide on round 15, sometimes 60, though I never considered any of that something to brag about. Those are just some of my reasons, I don't brag about suiciding, and never took someone to say they do, as one who is bragging, but I'm sure it happens. I just include the fact because yes, I don't want someone to think I died on round 60 on buried because I lacked the skill to do the same thing over and over. This is starting to sound like a rant and that wasn't my intention, so I'll just wrap it up and say no, it's not impressive that you can suicide, but it's necessary to include that fact because it does give the impression you know you could go farther, which most of the time means you have the skill. -
Isn't BinSys Chinese? Sorry if he isn't, not trying to profile, I just know he is ridiculously smart and would probably have some good input on this subject. Guess I should post a little more than just that. So did I just read that Activision ripped the franchise from Treyarch? I also had the idea, pretty much the second I saw it, that this MIGHT be an alternate time line where Maxis succeeded in all his trials, perhaps even before Richtofen had disposed of him and Samantha. Total and complete speculation of course, but could make sense.

Whats your biggest shortcoming?
Tattoo247 replied to TheBSZombie's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I usually test myself in high rounds and fail. Or I go for a drop and die. Seems with origins I simply forget to watch my back as often as I should, hardly any windows so I'm still getting used to that, sometimes I get swarmed in seconds just standing in a spot I think is safe. -
I still suck at this map, so whatever my last game was would be the worst match :x

Some of my unanswered questions.
Tattoo247 replied to Tattoo247's topic in General Zombies Discussion
So, was thinking about Call of the Dead and realized, did we ever find out what that carving was on the ice wall at spawn, looking at quick revive, it would be on the far left of the water. I never read much on it after BO2 came out, was it a rocket like most people thought?
