What if our Four Heroes came from the Future?
ETEl2NAL407 replied to Abel's topic in Research & Development
Nothing. Treyarch has wrapped the story, in my eyes. Even though this is a messy ending, the only reason it is that way is because of the plot holes that Treyarch could not close. Those holes, IMO, are not meant as Treyarch's way of leaving anything open. It's just a failure. However, taking into consideration how messy everything was prior to the Origins ending, I applaud Treyarch for it. This was the best that even the most imaginative writer could have done with respect to closing as many plot holes as possible. Sure, the notion of it all being a children's game is more like a huge quilted blanket thrown over everything, but when you can't make the dots connect any other way, it's better to just cover it all up and let it die. I hope Treyarch continues Zombies, but gives us an entirely different arc with new characters and events which will actually make sense. They can still encourage players to discover the story on their own through EE's and hidden messages, but at least have it all make sense and give more concrete evidence. The joy is not in debating theories, but uncovering the truth, I think.- 33 replies

My advice for the sharpshooter step is: Don't stop trying. Once you get to that part, have everyone at their positions and just keep trying, over and over, take a short break if you need to, but keep going. That's the key. Eventually after enough times everyone will hit all of their targets. It's not really an accuracy challenge, it's an endurance challenge. It's just repetition and focus. So, don't let it beat you by quitting.

This is inaccurate. Maxis appears as a man in the Origins Intro. Richtofen is removing his brain. What's making you think of him as an author is just a gimmick that Treyarch employed, the same as a character gimmick of some films. Have you ever seen Jay and Silent Bob? Silent Bob is...Silent. He doesn't speak. That's a gimmick or character trait, whatever you want to call it. Treyarch just gave Maxis the trait that he will never have substantial form. He's not an author or God, he is just never depicted as a normal living being directly. He's a brain in a jar, a voice on the radio, but he's still a character. Anyone remember the show Home Improvement? Tim Allen's neighbor would never show his face below the nose, there were even episodes that he appeared in not standing behind his fence and they still had objects always covering his lower face. It's the same technique they've used with Maxis. He's never in substantial form. I think this is to illustrate that Maxis represents the Meta or the Ethereal, nothing more. While digging for answers is good, be careful you don't dig too deep or else you'll bury yourself in your own hole.

What if our Four Heroes came from the Future?
ETEl2NAL407 replied to Abel's topic in Research & Development
I disagree with this theory entirely. Every single thought is overdone and all this does is complicate an already twisted tale. Ok, so let's say the story as it stands at face value is the equivalent of someone drawing an oval on a piece of paper and calling it a circle. Ok, I can see it's circular, but it's not a perfect circle. What I just read in the OP is the equivalent of someone drawing an octagon on a piece of paper and calling it a horse. Not even close.- 33 replies

Sure the radio towers are forms of ley lines, basically. This is good for those who may not understand this concept, but I'm not sure what's to be discussed. Not to sound mean, but this isn't really stating anything outside the obvious. Anytime you network mystical energy across land, that's a form of ley line. Many believe the Bermuda Triangle to be an actual ley point. It's a magnetic flux, is the general consensus, but I don't think any real data has ever been collected to support that. Good post, needs some formatting, instead of a wall of text, but I don't know what discussion can be made from this. I mean, does this connect anything story-wise? No.

For those who came in late. An overview of the Storyline
ETEl2NAL407 replied to Black Hand Smith's topic in Zombie Stories
Honestly the most accurate theory story ever to grace these forums. I just have one thing to say, but I need to borrow @PortlyLlama80's voice... Ahem. -
Is there a set criteria for being a HoFer? We have an explanation for Veteran, but perhaps we could reveal the current HoFers and the contributions they made to achieve that status. I'm just curious so I know what to aspire towards.

The Truth(s) About Origins: Samantha's Games
ETEl2NAL407 replied to karnal.instinct's topic in Origins
I'm gonna have to reiterate my theory. Everything we've ever seen in zombies is a game that 2 children are playing out together. The entire storyline was improvised by the 2 children as they played with their toys. We'll omit the WaW maps, since those were redone in BO:2, thus the storyline (games) go in this order: NDT-->Verruckt-->SNN-->Der Riese-->KDT-->Five & Ascension-->CotD-->SRL-->Origins-->Moon & Nuketown-->TranZit-->Die Rise-->MotD-->Buried Moon & Nuketown happen simultaneously and I believe these are transitional games between the 2 children. This is why the storyline gets so convoluted. As Sam is trying to finish her story, Eddy is also taking over. Origins was Sam's explanation to her story, as Eddy was probably becoming frustrated with how she was moving things along. This is evident with his quote, "Girls don't know about zombies." The cutscene gives us a solid resolution to the storyline, but also gives us some insight that the world these children are in might be the setting for the next game. I would actually love to see the story play out as these children's games come to life and they have to survive the same way they were making their dolls. Who wouldn't love profane quotes from a child as they're slaying undead? However, even if this is not the direction Treyarch will take us, we at least have an ending to this confusing story arc. -
This is kinda borderline...as far as the CoC is concerned. Be careful, as leaks are strictly prohibited on this forum. As to answer your question, it's showing up in a recommended search for xbox game titles. Why not investigate that further? If this is not your own screenshot, then I must say with certainty it's a fake. Someone superimposed the image after the fact. Because if it truly was there, more information could be gotten by selecting it. Why wouldn't there be? EDIT: I assume you got this from here? If so, why did that person only post that they think it's an accidental leak? Would you not click on it and try to buy it? The lack of information is very telling in this case.

Great Idea. 10/10.

Pretty sure it's meant to be the reward for making it to the bridge.

The beauty of this map is that there are numerous strategies available and they're all pretty good. No one strategy is ever going to be the end all be all for a map because different players have different play styles and certain strategies just suit them better. As for me, I have had lots of games where that last zombie gets in the elevator with me and manages to down me, so I have learned to resist the temptation of building Sliq on R1, but the benefit of doing it is that you have that weapon for the rest of your strategy and it could potentially save a big mistake, because R3 is going to be difficult. IMO, using the bank shouldn't be included in a strategy for high rounds. I find the bank is acceptable for casual games or EE games, but if you're going for high rounds just earn your points from scoring, after all that's what the strategy is for, right?

@MegaAfroMan Do you have a problem with me buddy? Your constant nit-picking of my language is despicable and starting to offend me. Get over yourself and stop. I can talk and speak how I want and if you're constantly trying to correct me well...How about you just get off my nuts?
-
This is a damn good strategy. Very detailed and very concise. My only problem is the start. This seems like a very slow start to get the Sliq and that last zombie has gotten into the elevator with me lots of times. I understand the importance of the Sliq, but with your strategy, I don't think you need to leave the power room with it on the first go around. You could probably wait to build the Sliq after you have Jug. I think that's a safer course of action, but other than that. Great guide.

Relevance is not relative (oddly enough). There is no "to me" something either is or isn't relevant. It's a property of a statment to another statement. It doesn't matter who poses it. Language in debate is very important, sorry I'm being such a stickler about this, but these kinds of things bother me. It would be acceptable to say it isn't important, or practical or is unnecessary for you. It is not acceptable to say it is irrelevant. Sorry again. I hope this clears up what I meant though. Since we're on the topic of language, you failed to read my original statement which said the debate about this was irrelevant to me, because it is.
-
I've always known it had to be VW...
-
It is to me because if I'm having a good enough game to be in position for it before R10, I'll end up staying on the bridge longer anyways to rack up points, but I suppose if you're after the ultimate truth of it, it's relevant. I actually use R10 as a marker...If we don't have the plane ready to go and everyone working on Retriever kills at least by then, I know the game is not going well.
-
Regardless it's pretty tough to get it done before R10 and there's no point in rushing it since you don't really need it until a decent amount past R10...If you take your time, but focus on the dogs and the Retriever + Plane parts, you should be finishing up R10 on the bridge and get the noise, so the debate about before or after to me is irrelevant.
-
Yes exactly. I don't know if it's 30 exactly, but you need Retriever kills on the island until you hear the audio cue, then the same thing on the bridge without shooting. The whole past R10 thing is not necessary, but most people find that even if they're on the bridge prior to R10, they still don't hear the audio cue until after.
-
I usually never buy the M14, but if you do buy it I'd suggest not going for headshots until after R5. 1 in the chest and then a knife will take them out and net you a lot more points. I have to agree with 83457. Some of these steps are bad habits.

Maxis' Master Plan - The Truth Behind Our "Friendly AI"
ETEl2NAL407 replied to Naitrax's topic in General Zombies Discussion
That's PERFECT! This is the PLAN that Samantha mentions her father has in the ending cutscene. Think of Moon as the transitional game where Eddy and Samantha switch "control". We already know Nuketown is happening simultaneously and from evidence of how the N4 met in the Buried intro combined with the presence of Marlton in the NT bunker, I think TranZit definitely happened during the timeframe you mention. The quote of Richtofen is a perfect marker as well. This kind of makes me rethink the ending cutscene more. It could've been meant as a metaphor to what was happening. Samantha and Maxis are making Eddy(RIchtofen) feel like a partner, and empowering him via MPD, but are conspiring together behind him an elaborate plan and regardless of how he struggles, his resistance only helps the plan succeed. I'll have to give it more thought now, but I think you've definitely nailed down a timeline. -
When you get really good, you'll be able to go in a small room and run back and forth quickly to get the zombies in with you, then just by knowing which direction to walk at the right time, drag all the zombies to one side so you can leave the room. Might look something like this:
-
I believe you may be correct. I wasn't positive how it was lost, but when I looked up reference, @Boom's guide is what I found and that's how it's worded there. I'll tag him so he can correct the guide. Does it require further testing or are you 100%? I remember it seeming more difficult to lose than what I mentioned previously, but still hazy. I think there may be more than one way to lose it.

I concur. It's quite handy. Definitely worth making it complete. At the very least, polish the completed sections also.
