Although I wouldn't use it myself, I actually see despawning the Margwa as the lesser of the 2 evils. I think you are being honest when you say you prefer the map without them Chopper, and I wouldn't necessarily personally discount someone's round for using it, but I still think the leaderboard sites shouldn't accept it or should at least have separate leaderboards for it (its been a while since I visited those sites but I believe they had separate leaderboards for moon depending on astronaut strategy?) The Max ammo from the flags seems unnecessary, if it is only to replace wall weapon ammo then there is really no need for it to be used at all. And while blast furnace may make using the Max ammo seem inconsequential, I believe it can be used limitless times in each round. So potentially you could throw all 3 lil arnies, grab the flag and Max ammo and repeat. That would definitely feel like an abuse of the game mechanics. Also, I don't believe things going unpatched is a reflection of Treyarch's moral stance on the matter. At least I hope not, otherwise they seem to be quite keen on the catwalk glitch on the Giant! I think the things that get reported the most are dealt with as a priority and certain map issues are probably easier to resolve than others.

For the time being, their may be no Apothicon Servant upgrade
DaveLo07 replied to a topic in Shadows of Evil
When you look at the gameplay side of things, there are many reasons why an upgrade is not necessary. The wonder weapon is always an instant kill and with the alchemical antithesis gobblegum, the ammo is rarely an issue. I got the wonder weapon back from the box the other day, and there was no noticeable change. However, I was intrigued that the version I got from the box was the same as the one I had built. We have 4 different names for the swords and reborn swords which are character specific. Then we have 4 different names for the ww which are not character specific and as of yet we do not know a method to pick which ww we build. But once it is built, it would appear that is the only incarnation of the weapon you can get back from the box. Why? Why would it even matter if all 4 of these weapons are identical in ammo and effect? It could be something that was cut from the game or unfinished, but then why not just scrap all the different names? -
Don't know if this something I've missed but I remember @Ragdo11706 posting about a potential step involving the mystery box and returning the weapon. Currently in a game where I put the wonder weapon back in the box and not only do tentacles sprout from the box, I have an egg either side of the base of the mystery box with what look like some form of larva (gateworm) growing inside. Is this something that you noticed when you tried this @Ragdo11706?

The 'dings' occur for me on every ritual regardless of character, order of rituals, progress of swords/ww. They are during the shadow man qoutes and as far as I can tell, just signify the start of a ritual. There may be more qoutes but these are the only 2 that I have heard Here we go 'ding' the ritual has begun Your sacrifice 'ding' has been chosen

Maybe we have been looking at WW upgrade all wrong. MUST READ
DaveLo07 replied to TheBiggerMuff's topic in Shadows of Evil
I have seen the language and symbol charts, as far as I am aware any words being discovered are because of the way the symbol looks. If you look at parasite, elemental etc they are physical representations of what they mean. If this is the same for words like kor-maroth or lor-zarazzor then we might be onto something, but there is no way to directly translate a language from scratch whether it is real or fictional IMO. If hello is salut in French, it doesn't mean that hell is salu. It is not a cipher. I would say the symbols created by the WW names/quotes are the key. -

DaveLo07 replied to TheBiggerMuff's topic in Shadows of Evil
R@NightmareVoyager I agree that the language is the most likely way to upgrade the WW but we only have a limited amount of words. Also, the reborn swords seem to be in the keeper language which we do not know. Also, we only have parts of the sword and wonder weapon names. When you are dealing with a different language, you cannot fill in the gaps, you will just be making it up. None of the translations I have seen so far make any sense at all. And the quotes for the wonder weapon are spoken, so again words are down to interpretation of pronunciation. The only glimmer of hope I can see is that the symbols for the apothicon language appear to be physical representations of the meaning. For example, points looks like a hand containing 3 coins so maybe we are not supposed to translate but create a symbol using the language which will be some physical representation of the step, or a symbol that we have to find and interact with in order to start the upgrade. -
Not too sure how important this is, but given that the language from the swords hasn't been broken down, the link between swords, character and wonder weapon may have some relevance. The name of the swords, reborn swords and their place in the podium will always be the same depending on which character you are. Character. Apothicon Sword. Reborn Sword. Place in podium Floyd. Shubozzor Ullagua. Kreesaleet la Ahmahm. Left Jack. Ullamargor Zortuk. Kreelasha lu Ahmkaaleet. Second from left Jessica. Astanar Nethurgast. Goahlo lu kortahn. Second from right Nero. Maroth Zorguamat. Shaitahn lu kreemahogra. Right

@Ragdo11706 I've been reading a lot of your posts in regards to the WW upgrade, and there is a lot of good info, but I believe you are mistaken about the way to change the name of the weapon. I have also tested it extensively and could find no pattern. For the ritual, egg and heart locations to all be variables would mean that there are 64 possible ways to change the name, 16 for each weapon. I can also confirm that I have checked 4 recent games in theatre mode Ritual Egg Heart. WW name Junction Junction. Junction. Nar-ullaqua Junction. Junction. Junction. Lor-zarazzor Junction. Junction. Junction. Nar-ullaqua Junction. Junction. Junction. Mar-astagua -
WARNING Potential glitch ahead: Stopping the Margwa
DaveLo07 replied to shirtlesservice's topic in Shadows of Evil
@steviewonder87 I feel like I take the parameters of this game too seriously some times but I can honestly say that I have never packed the WW. As soon as I knew that the only way to pack it was a glitch, I was sure there was a different way to upgrade so had no interest in the illegitimate version. @Chopper I think it's a shame this exploit has been found, the Margwa function well in the sense that they provide a challenge the panzers didn't with the WW being ineffective on them. Unfortunately, fun becomes secondary when competing for high rounds so I find that argument a little flawed. Anyone who plays non competitively offline should be able to play the game any way they wish, but to compete for leaderboards it doesn't matter if it is widely accepted or not and is probably a major factor in the lack of interest/respect for such leaderboard sites. The WW has no effect on Margwas, not spawning them in is irrelevant surely? -
Deleted a friend last night for having a video in their feed of them using this glitch to a barrage of abusive messages. Camping the giant legit til 40 with turned is up there with camping jug on Buried as one of the easiest strategies around, yet people still feel the need to cheat!

Haven't seen this discussed anywhere, but there is a playlist in the data vault full of all the songs you have unlocked. If you play a song, you can start a campaign mission, nightmares mission, zombies map or dead ops 2 with that song playing. This works for songs unlocked in campaign, nightmares, dead ops 2 or zombies easter egg songs. youtu.be/TyWwTuMOpHE

Has anybody successfully acquired the mask in solo? I know it works co-op but I have shot all the hearts 3 times in solo games, get the audio cue and the mask is not in any of the 4 locations that it can spawn. Are there more than 4 locations that the mask can spawn, or can it only be collected in co-op games?

How to upgrade the Apothican Servant legit?
DaveLo07 replied to steviewonder87's topic in Shadows of Evil
Do you mean the Ephemeral Enhancement? I've heard people suggest that but it only lasts 60 seconds. I wonder if Wall Power would work if you picked the weapon up after eating the gobblegum, so at least it can be packed for a whole game but it's so hard to come by I still think there is another way. -
This song wasn't used in the intro but big portions of it were in the trailer from a few months back https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1g8bHdnMgf8

Treyarch: Why Call of Duty Zombies isn't its own game
DaveLo07 replied to PINNAZ's topic in General Zombies Discussion
I can see the logic behind their thinking. I started out solely as a zombies player but over the years, have slowly gotten into the multiplayer side of things. What I initially enjoyed about zombies was the co-op aspect of the gameplay and working as a team which does apply to some multiplayer modes as well. I don’t play a lot of solo zombies, and have never completed a campaign on previous cod titles as I'd rather play online with friends but with the new co-op campaign it does feel like I will be getting 3 game experiences in 1. Time also plays a factor. I struggle to enjoy a zombies game unless I know I’ve got at least a couple of hours to spare, so multiplayer is a good game mode if I’ve got 20 minutes to kill. Just begs the question if there are no plans for a stand alone game, then why no backward compatibility? -
I wasn't aware of the Nyarlathotep but it seems the character/ legend/ myth has been around for a long time but changes and evolves to fit the time period and culture. This a link to an article by Sin Jones regarding the different incarnations of 'the Shadow man' in reference to the book 'The Dark Man' by Stephen King http://www.scribd.com/mobile/doc/64164934

Yeah, here are a couple of links referring to this entity as 'the hat man' http://www.micahackerman.com/blog/the-hat-man-paranormal-phantom-of-death-or-hoax http://urbanlegendfolkloremyths.blogspot.co.uk/2010/01/shadow-people-hat-man.html It appears stories/legends of 'the hat man' have been around for a long time in one way or another but the name was popularised when the author of the book, Heidi Hollis, appeared on a radio show referencing the shadow creature by that name.
-
So I wanted to discuss the links between the shadow man from Shadows of Evil and ancient mythology and specifically the paranormal accounts of the hat man. I am not a believer in the paranormal but there are a lot of links here to the character of the shadow man and where the idea for this character may have originated. 'The hat man' is believed to be an entity from another realm. Perhaps a time traveller or an interdimensional being. In many accounts he is a black silhouette, stands between 6 and 7 feet tall and wears a trench coat with a high collar or cloak. He also has a 30’s-40’s style hat that many refer to as a fedora or a hat with a very prominent brim. He exists in the Shadows or on the periphery of a persons vision, and usually disappears very quickly upon being noticed. However, unlike reports of other shadow people does not fade away, but turns and walks away slowly. He is generally associated with and appears to people suffering negative emotions and his appearances are linked with death. There are also strong links with him appearing to people who are fraudsters or deceitful. ‘The Hat Man' appears in many different cultures all over the world and dates back thousands of years originating from creatures portrayed in ancient Arabic and Islamic mythology and theology. These were referred to as djinn or jinn a term which means ‘ hidden from sight' and were also seen as interdimensional beings from an alternate dimension within our own and although there appearance is different, one of their forms was that of the shadow. Could this ancient mythology and these paranormal experiences be the inspiration for the shadow man in Shadows of Evil? An interdimensional time traveller who appears to those that have sinned?

Thanks for explaining and clarifying what the rules are. Just want to make it clear I wasn't being critical of the moderation of the site. This site is ridiculously well run, but I honestly didnt know when the spoiler tab was meant to be used and felt like I/ other users needed more info.

I didn't mean you should clarify I meant one of the moderators. It's not just the leaked into or achievements I believe all the aw achievements and ending cutscenes were pinned directly to the posts and discussed openly. I know there was far less interest in aw but if the rule is going to apply then it should apply across the board to make it easier for users to adhere to. -

@Lenne I agree with you on most points, but do you not think that the inconsistencies in the rule in the past couple of months have contributed to people not knowing when to use the spoiler tab? I had genuine problems getting it to function and now I know how, I will use it for anything considered to be a spoiler but I don't think others are arguing against using it out of direct disrespect or laziness. They just don't see it as spoilers and given what's been allowed to be posted on this site without spoiler tabs, you can see why. Stop mocking me0 is 1 of maybe 20 users who has broken that rule in the past couple of months and is the only person who has been directly pulled up on it. Seems a tad unfair to me. Isn't it now more important to clarify what the rules are regarding certain types of content and spoiler tabs? -
Black Ops 3 Achievements Revealed
DaveLo07 replied to LiamFTWinter's topic in BOIII News & Announcements
OK, although I fear I may be adding fuel to the fire, I am going to comment because this thread seems to be getting out of hand with bans being discussed. I was apologetic towards Lenne because he seemed genuinely upset about the lack of spoiler tabs and I felt the same way recently in regards to the pc files and seeing some things that I really didn’t want to. I can relate. However, I initially clicked on the link, so whilst I raised the issue of spoilers afterwards, it is nobody else’s responsibility that I clicked on that link, only mine. I can see why in this discussion, some peoples argument is if you don’t want to see the achievements then don’t click on the link that says bo3 achievements. That's not meant to be any barbed comment towards Lenne or changing my opinion, just playing devils advocate I can see that side of the coin. I knew the pc files would cause problems, and that is essentially what has happened here. People feel like this information has been circulating for months, therefore can be discussed. Although spoiler tabs were mentioned in the thread in the link, there are none and before the volafile room was closed, there was a direct link to said files with easter egg songs and audio intros for all to see/download. It is easy to see why the lines are blurred and users aren’t sure what they are allowed to discuss and what they are not. It would be helpful if the moderators came to a joint decision on what the stance of the site is. If achievements are going to be considered spoilers there is going to be a major issue when each dlc drops for bo3. Surely for the users with dlc exclusivity, discussing easter egg steps, weapons, strategies, trailers, cutscenes or basically any content should require spoiler tabs for each comment in each of those threads. This seems a bit extreme and unlikely, but the principle is the same. Users should be able to click on threads titled ‘ easter eggs steps' and then complain if the next post is easter egg steps without a spoiler tab. Maybe the function of spoiler tabs should be changed so that a moderator can elect for a discussion to be considered a spoiler, and then every response to the OP will be automatically hidden and you would have to click the spoiler tab to reveal? There would be much less room for user error and it would be down to the moderators to enforce instead of the user. This is not about the user being lazy, it seems that one post sets the tone and other users will then openly discuss without thinking about the necessity of the spoiler tab. I know Stop Mocking Me0 is being pulled up for the tone of his comment which is questionable( I think he is aiming more at humour than being disrespectful) but it does feel like a lot of users broke the rules on this one (myself included) and now one user is bearing the brunt of the anger. I fear most of us here are grown adults, maybe these issues should be discussed with that in mind. There have been numerous discussions over the past few months where the spoiler tab apparently should have been used but has not been. Surely consistency is important for any rule that is to be enforced? -

Cheers. That is the icon I clicked but couldn't see any difference and I clicked it a few times so obviously did something to mess it up before I posted. Edited my 1st post, apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks.
