How to upgrade the Apothican Servant legit?
steviewonder87 replied to steviewonder87's topic in Shadows of Evil
That's what I'm saying, Kino was pretty much made in WAW and there is a bunch of stuff for COTD too, in addition to (granted not much) some stuff about this Paris map. Hence the point I'm making, not everything in the files is in the game. In fact, after a little look, there is only one reference I can find relating to the Paris map in WAW, and it certainly doesn't sound like 'Moon' to me... // DCS: we need a smaller light in the catacombs for paris, the generic one fills the area under the tower. else if(level.script == "nazi_zombie_paris") -
How to upgrade the Apothican Servant legit?

It wasn't 'reskinned' dude, it was an entirely different map that they scrapped which was supposed to be set in the catacombs under Paris. They decided they wanted something to go out with a bang so they opted for Moon instead. Even if it was referring to 'Moon' - which it isn't - why the hell is it in WAW? -
How to upgrade the Apothican Servant legit?
steviewonder87 replied to steviewonder87's topic in Shadows of Evil
Yeh, I agree that I also think there IS a way to upgrade it; there is just so much pointing towards that direction in the files for their not to be IMO, but like you say just because they included the assets/code for it, doesn't necessarily mean the gun is in the game per se. I mentioned before if you were to look at the BO2 code you would be dead certain you could PAP the Sliquifier; everything exists for it in the files pretty much, and likewise (think I said this before) in COTD there is a PAP AK47 (called the Red Mist) with an underbarrel flamethrower (would have been epic) that you can access with give all using cheats (also a PAP Wunderwaffe even though you cannot legitimately PAP it on COTD). They leave over so much stuff from previous CODs and unused stuff it's very hard to distinguish the actual stuff in the game and what's been cut. For instance, in WAW, there is about 50% of the code for a 'Turned' type gamemode that was, obviously, not included in the game, in addition to files relating to Kino, COTD and an as yet unmade map called nazi_zombie_paris. Nova crawlers are also included (anims, scripts) and some huge ass boss model called the engineer who also had scripts and appears to attack players with his wrench lol. It's very interesting sometimes looking through the files (only WAW and BO1 have mod tools so far, BO3 soon fingers crossed) and seeing things that they changed or cut from the game and leftover voice quotes, perks, bosses and guns and whatnot. Having said that, what I do know for certain is that an upgraded version of the gun obviously exists in the files. The Apothican Servant is called the 'ID gun' in the files, and there are 4 different names for the gun. There are weird voice quotes referring to the 'ID gun' for 'greeting the player' and ones called 'upgrade_ready' and 'upgrade_complete' which don't seem to be anything other than a audio notification to inform the player when certain events occur (also has a version of these for the swords I might add). People have also seen explicit references to several 'cocoons' (with map coordinates) within the .bsp I believe, which are clearly stated to be linked to the 'ID gun'. As yet no-one has found anything in game relating to these mysterious cocoons. All this, coupled with the fact that people are still finding new EEs all the time on Shadows, and that pretty much everything else in the map can be upgraded (for all the campaign team zombie maps pretty much) leads me to believe that it is upgradeable and it's only a matter of time until we find it. -
Where's yours Sparky? :)

You mean the Storm PSR?

Exactly.

Or you end up like BO1 :)

Ah yeh that makes sense, that's how they've done it since WAW. -
Can you post a pic?

How to upgrade the Apothican Servant legit?
steviewonder87 replied to steviewonder87's topic in Shadows of Evil
Well they may well be gibberish (or some kind of Lovecraftian type dialect), but I know for a fact that some of these sounds are called 'upgrade_ready' and 'upgrade_complete' for the WW. Even if they aren't the key to actually doing it, they could well signify to the player when the process is completed. -
I mentioned this in another thread but I thought I'd post this here because a) it's 'in' The Giant and b) I'm really intrigued by it and thought you guys might be able to help. So basically I was looking in the sound files last night and came across this file in what is supposed to be sounds from The Giant. It sounds like some kind of voice speaking with some form of audio manipulation on it, but it definitely seems to be 'words' or a code in there somewhere. Initially I thought it sounded backwards so I tried listening to it like that but it sounded identical to me, I also tried slowing it down/speeding it up, etc. so I'm not sure what else I can try. The file is below if anyone wants a listen, if you don't want to hear it then don't download it, but I honestly don't see what can be spoiled from hearing a cryptic sound file that is obviously meant to be decoded and that reveals nothing to you unless you make a concerted effort to do so. I also don't see any problem with uploading this sound file as I can't see a distinction between sounds ripped from Youtube of a voice quote or ripped from the game itself as the end product is practically the same. But I'll remove it if asked. https://mega.nz/#!vR43AaRR!V2FNNHaQZJSDn8l8WXRW1adOK1eajIaAm7IZMTWF58o I'm pretty sure there's no major EE in The Giant so I doubt it's related to anything of that manner, but I just really want to know the message in it, if there is one. And the great minds on this site are usually pretty good at figuring these things out. I've never heard this sound in game so apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere where someone actually heard it in game. Edit: I must warn you it's kinda creepy and I wouldn't recommend blaring it out of speakers too loud, your neighbours might think you've joined some kind of Satanic cult or something. :)

Had a look at the sound files...
steviewonder87 replied to steviewonder87's topic in Shadows of Evil
I wasn't actually intending to find EE stuff, I was collecting sounds for my own map (round sounds, weapon sounds, zombie sounds, etc), and 90% of them are not named in any case. I just happened to see these ones (which are one of the few that are named) and thought I'd share what I found. It doesn't really spoil anything since we are still in the same situation; we think it's probably upgradeable but we have no clue how. If the sound files said something like 'put the gun in here and shoot 50 zombies' then maybe, but as far as I can tell it just says 'blasrfgewghjsaiSVGDF'; so I'm really none the wiser lol. I saw it more as 'interesting' rather than 'spoilery' tbh. FYI, most of the stuff found so far (including the main EE) was assisted in some way by someone accessing game files. Not that I'm supporting such conduct, I'm just saying. Anyway, to those who want to find it the old fashioned way (always the best way) I don't think I've revealed anything that would affect that, you've still gotta figure out how to activate the sounds, what they mean (perhaps) and any other steps required, I basically just wanted to confirm that an upgraded version almost certainly does exist is all. -
So I've just been looking through the sound files, and discovered a ton of random files related to the WW (e.g. vox_idgun_combat_#, etc. - the dev name for the gun is the ID gun), which all seemed to be some guy saying the names of the guns (or speaking a dialect similar to that). Which is exactly what was posted recently, where some guy was getting kills with the WW by PAP and there was clearly a voice (the same voice I found in the files) saying some indecipherable word (at least to me). I also saw/heard someone get the same voice when taking the gun from the bench. There are also sounds called 'vox_idgun_greet_player' and 'vox_idgun_greet_idgun' which struck me as very odd names. Obviously the 4 random names linked to the heart/area have some kind of significance since the gun is called the 'ID gun' so there must be something with the characters (kinda like the swords) I'm thinking. So, anyway, looking through more files, I came across a sound file called 'vox_idgun_upgrade_complete' (which, like all the others is just a random indecipherable word in a strange voice) and also 3 sounds called 'vox_idgun_upgrade_ready_#'. Now this obviously implies very strongly indeed that there is some way to upgrade the WW, and not only that, it's likely linked to these weird coded words in the voice, and the names of the WW. I also discovered a very peculiar sounding file in the Giant, that appeared to contain some kind of hidden message, but I couldn't make anything of it (never heard it anywhere before though) and also another quote from Maxis about a beacon, but I'm not sure if that's already in one of the radio recordings or something (it has the same kind of sound quality as those, as opposed to the quotes Maxis says during the Fly Trap EE where he comes out really loud and clear). I'm not sure what the policy is on here in regards to this, but I'd like to post the files for everyone to listen to and try and figure this out, so if someone could let me know if that's allowed or not that'd be great. TL;DR: Based on the sound files, the WW is upgradeable and it seems to be related to deciphering whatever it is that is being said in these mysterious quotes. Edit: After looking even more, I found that the sword actually has very similarly named sound files, which also consist of some strange voice speaking a foreign language, but since that wasn't involved in upgrading the sword perhaps these sound files are a red herring (they all just sound like the names of the guns being said in different ways/combinations tbh). But since they exist, and have been heard in game, I'm positive it can be upgraded simply based on the sound file names.

Or sometimes just in between the buildings, i.e. in thin air, where you are alive long enough to witness your descent to death (and doubling your downs count in the process). I don't think I've ever had as many map fatalities as I had on Die Rise, from the death shafts to just screwing up a dropdown falling into the abyss, so the last thing I need on that map is a perk that can actually kill you too...

Or the apparent 'bug' where the SMR has MORE spread when adsing, which is not in MP, making it worse than useless. As if it wasn't bad enough in zombies already. Sometimes I do think they just like to toy with us, I mean I added the Sliq to my map, and one of the first things we made sure was working was that only one player could take it from the bench, does a company like Treyarch really overlook these things? I mean the exact same bug has appeared in all three Black Ops games in zombies lol. They never patched it on Moon (thank God) but patched the others almost instantly after release, I honestly am starting to think they just like to fuck with us.

It is very weird what they do patch. They seem to view stuff that they might consider OP the priority when patching, over, say, stuff that actually needs fixing. Like the Sliq being able to be taken by all players (will they ever learn?) which they patched after a day, or the randomly limiting the damage to round 100 like you said, both things they decided to patch before, say, fixing the broken death barriers in the slides which still exist to this day I believe. They also increased the recoil stupidly on the LMGs on BO2 for some unknown reason, I mean really? Of all the things you could do you see that as the priority to patch Treyarch? They do certainly have bizarre logic at times.

I don't believe the easter egg is done yet...
steviewonder87 replied to Stop Mocking Me0's topic in The Giant
I don't believe anyone has decompiled the scripts for BO3 yet. However, someone I know has decompiled the maps' .bsp files (basically all the entities within the map, e.g. script models and such with names) which in some cases can give massive hints as to what's left on the map and what's definitively NOT in the map 'as is'. We also have access to the sound files (if anyone is curious and has BO3 on PC, the BO2 sound studio tool that's freely available on the net works on BO3 too), which I've had a dig through myself and I've heard all the quotes on the map (including all the Maxis ones and radios and basically everything we've heard so far) so there's nothing more on that front, unless Treyarch have been really sneaky and hidden the sound files in a different file to the others (highly unlikely). Also so far people have been able to decompile the scripts enough to read the names of some of the scripts, and found the Shadows of Evil one immediately by searching for '_ee' within the files (the suffix Treyarch have used on every main EE script since BO1), however nothing turned up on the Giant under that search. Although again, this is not definite, it could mean that Treyarch are just REALLY trying to hide this one (again very unlikely IMO.) It also doesn't rule out any other smaller EEs, but I've been told there's nothing else interesting in the .bsp, so coupled with everything else I really don't think there's anything left as far as a major EE goes. We have to remember this map was basically going to to be like the special edition bonus map that not that many people would have had access to from the start, like Nuketown, so they may have wanted to keep it simple EE wise and just have a few cool storyline ones (and when you think about it, in my opinion anyway, the little scraps of paper they hid around the map and the hidden codes and radios and stuff are better 'EE's' than some long ass random, 4 player only, tedious sequence of tasks to do which you probably get no reward for and will only do once anyway...) as they did with Nuketown also perhaps. Shadows of Evil on the other hand, there were very obvious signs in the .bsp referring to the new 'Lil Arnie EE that's just been found (and are probably how that was found tbh, but that's another matter) and I've been told there's one more thing that's not been found yet that is hinted at by the files, but it's not the upgraded WW unfortunately. Although that could still be possible, as that could all be done via script, which no-one, as of yet, has access to. -
Brand New SOE Easter Egg - POSSIBLE SPOILERS
steviewonder87 replied to andizzle's topic in Shadows of Evil
Found the next step of the EE. As you can see I was awarded all the perks and this is 100% legit. Subscribe to my Youtube channel for more and a full tutorial. Disclaimer: this is actually the result of Perkaholic and getting disconnected from the servers mid way through a co-op game which somehow put me in some weird black realm under the map where there were these weird fx which you can see on the pic. But still gotta be worth a like, favourite and subscribe right? :) -
Gives me hope that the wonder weapon might still be upgradable too...

Yeh if the clock hands move then the model is scripted (or animated) so doesn't mean it's 'interactable' at all. What generator? -
Treyarch screws solo players again
steviewonder87 replied to TheBiggerMuff's topic in Shadows of Evil
Agreed. No reason why they can't do a COTD type EE for every map, or at the very least have it doable 2 players minimum. Making it 4 players only is excluding like 70% of players from ever completing it right there. -

steviewonder87 replied to Stop Mocking Me0's topic in The Giant
Until you show us in game footage or theatre mode, naw ;) In game footage and face cam Q&A session once I hit 1000 likes, so smash that like button guys! Do the clock hands move? If they do then the model must be scripted (or animated) at the very least, assuming the face and hands are all one model that is. Doesn't necessarily mean it's interactable. If the hands don't move (I know it stops in the trailer but I don't recall in game, does it repeat over and over like on Der Reise?) then it would be interesting. Edit: I misread your comment, I see you are actually verifying what I said. :) -

Ok so I remembered I found something cool in a co-op game the other day. This is not Photoshop or any kind of manipulation at all, this is how it looked in game. To access this EE you need to have the game on PC, and try and get a really high ping, I think I had about 300 in this game. Now after this world reveal please like, favourite and subscribe to my Youtube channel where I will be posting lots of useless videos explaining nothing on the back of finding some graphical glitch that means nothing.
