About the "brainwashed characters theory" (that's what I'm going to call it from now on)... That is what my friend, who is helping me understand the zombies storyline told me (because he believes this theory), and after reading these doubtful comments about it, I'm not so sure about the theory myself anymore. After all, if the older characters were brainwashed versions of the Origins characters, that doesn't explain why both sets look and sound similar to each other. I guess the "brainwashed characters theory" tries to put both sets of characters in the same universe. Anyway, that's for another discussion, we're supposed to be talking about OP's idea, hehe.

Thank you! And I agree, more cutscenes would be a great help, either that or they'll just create more confusion. However, I expect most of the answers will come from playing "The Giant" itself when we get it. There are probably some quotes I could pull out from Origins that may help create more accurate theories, but I'll look into that later, I'm lazy right now.

I just listened to a bunch of radios again to try and make "The Giant" trailer a little clearer for myself mainly, because I am even more confused than I was before. Everything below is basically all theory, based on the radios I've analyzed. Feel free to correct me, I'm still learning the storyline. Please, add your own thoughts to help make this new trailer clearer, because despite what I've done below, it's still a brain scrambling concept to understand. This post is going to be a mess, addressing different things at random, so forgive me for that. Thanks for reading (and/or correcting my mistakes). You hear the radio which supposedly kicks off "The Giant" trailer: Maxis, Samantha, Richtofen. "... What? Edward, what are you doing? Open the door! Edward, open this door now! Dad, I'm scared. God, no. Stay by me, Samantha. Goodbye, Dr. Maxis. *Laughter*-" Only problem is, you hear a hellhound during this radio, and you don't in the new trailer, and Samantha's wording is slightly off, she only cries on the trailer, she doesn't talk. This either means that Treyarch made a subtle mistake, or it is a different universe, or this is a different version of the same account because of how many times this scene has repeated itself because of time loops. Next radio: Groph, Shuster. "... Intruder detected. Receiving Bay. This is not a drill. Security report. Intruder detected. Receiving Bay. This is not a drill. What? Can you repeat? She's coming right towards the- Get her! Get back here! Nein! Do not let her- Dammit. Dr. Shuster, find a way to get her out of the pyramid. I will contact Edward, let him know there has been an incident." This radio tells us that Samantha was definitely teleported to the moon, where she entered the MPD, but Maxis is not mentioned in this radio. That doesn't mean that this radio disproves him being there though. During "The Giant" trailer, Richtofen is not notified of the intruder, Samantha, who infiltrated Griffin Station and entered the MPD. Remember, Maxis isn't dead just yet either. This leads me to believe that Samantha is not in control of the zombies yet, when the zombies in "The Giant" trailer begin attacking. Next radio: Richtofen, Groph. "How did she end up there? No matter, I know what must be done. In the meantime, see if you can find Dr. Maxis. Perhaps he can talk some sense into her. Did you not deal with him already? Yes, but if the child ended up there, then Maxis must be somewhere too. Find him. How do you propose- Dr. Groph, I cannot do everything for you. I leave this in your capable hands. There is much to be done. Oh, and Groph? Yes, Doctor? I'd keep an eye out for an evil-looking dog while you're at it." So nobody knows where Maxis actually is, and if he were teleported to moon, surely somebody would have found him immediately, he'd be a lot more noticeable than a little girl. The hellhound would've also been easily noticed at Griffin Station. My guess is that Samantha, Maxis and the hellhound were all teleported to different places. Samantha, to Griffin Station. Maxis, I'm not sure, and the hellhound, I'm not sure either. Next radio: Groph, Shuster, Maxis. "I hope this works. Shuster, power it up. Systems nominal. Accessing vril device. Interface via MPD active. Accessing MPD... MPD integrity check nominal. Excellent. Bring the sample. Analyzing MPD. Creating profile. Profile created. Excellent. Now, scan for target. Yes, Doctor. Target located. Bring him here, immediately. Greetings, Dr. Maxis. Shuster! I should've known. Where is that rat, Edward? Where are we? And how did you get me out of that wretched tun- None of that is important right now. Allow me to fill you in." So it turns out Maxis was not on the moon, if he was, then he was in a tunnel located on the moon, because that is where he claims to have been prior to being teleported to Griffin Station. This means that our four characters in "The Giant" trailer still have a chance to save Maxis before he is killed. Now that old Richtofen is dead, Groph and Shuster do not receive the command to find Maxis so maybe Maxis will not die in this (new, old?) timeline which we will be playing in Black Ops III. Follow up radio from previous radio: Maxis, Samantha, Unknown (possibly Groph or Shuster?). "Samantha, honey? Daddy is here. Come dear, please. Open the machine, Daddy will not let them hurt you anymore. Honey? Daddy knows he has made some mistakes. I am truly sorry that you were put through so much. When your mother died, I could not bear the thought of losing you too. That's why I kept you so close. I did not mean to neglect you. I just wanted to know you were safe from harm. *Crying* Daddy! I love you Samantha. I love you too, Daddy. Can you do something for me? Something very important. Yes? Kill them- All. No! We are doomed." It is at this point that Samantha is asked by Maxis to kill 'them all'. Richtofen is included in 'them all' and this is why Samantha targets him especially. I don't know who shot Maxis, or who is talking at the end of this radio. This is proof that Samantha is not controlling the zombies during "The Giant" trailer because she only gets mad at Richtofen some point after Richtofen is radio'd about the incident with Samantha entering the MPD. So she wouldn't attack him just yet, because she only snaps after Maxis' death. The only way that this could be wrong would be if Treyarch made a some mistakes, or it is a different universe, or these are different versions of the same accounts because of how many times this scene has repeated itself because of time loops.

If my theory doesn't matter, Bob doesn't matter. So Bob is nobody right now. xD You state that as if it were fact; it is still, however, just a theory...one that is, in my humble opinion inherently flawed following the release of The Giant trailer. Also, Dempsey has a son, as he observes in Moon when he buys the M16. Just some food for thought. Oh, it is? My friend, who is trying to help me out with the storyline told me that this is what had happened. Listening to the radios throughout different maps also made me believe this is what was going on too. I apologize for the misunderstanding. That still stands as a strong theory, then. Again, a great interpretation of what may be going on, OP. Yeah, 'fraid so. I'm not sure where that theory first originated, but it popped up out here not too long ago. I figger we will find out. TBH, I don't really feel like it holds water, and would hate to see it go that way, just cause I'm still a bigger fan of the originals. We shall see! I also love the originals, classic Richtofen was one of the most hilarious characters in gaming, ever. I'm not sure if you remember the radio quotes, where he records his diary. "DEARRRR Diary!" They got me every time.

It's the Nova 6 creatures' mother. And she's getting revenge because we all killed her babies.

Yet somehow, Samantha was in control even earlier than that...but that's a subject for another discussion. Just as one might ask when Richtofen was shot. Was he shot at 1:15:00? When did Samantha take control? The zombies didn't begin to storm Der Riese, per the time in the trailer for about 30 seconds, just a short time longer than the length of time between when she arrived at Griffin Station and when she entered the MPD, and just about the exact length of time between when Griffin Station detects an intruder and when the radio ends. So did she take control at 1:15:30 or 1:15:00? It's a paradox. What I can't get my head around is why Samantha would target old Richtofen so soon, she only goes berserk with her power when her father, Maxis, is shot by... I don't know who he was shot by actually. But when Maxis was killed, that is when Samantha snapped and turned her anger towards Richtofen in hopes the zombies would get him. I think The original four characters went to "The Giant" to try and save Maxis, but were too late. The plan was not to kill old Richtofen, because even the other three original characters are surprised/angry at what new Richtofen had done, I think they were supposed to convince him to listen to them so he wouldn't trigger everything from that point on. However, maybe there is something that this younger Richtofen is keeping from them, after all, that is the Richtofen we're so familiar with.

Jeez, that writing. That is a great theory and some good analysis though, there is only a few flaws. Maxis brainwashed an individual (we'll call him Bob for the sake of this comment). Maxis made this Bob person believe that he was called Edward Richtofen, a friend of Maxis who saved him once but had unfortunately passed away. Maxis wanted to recreate his friend who saved his life. Bob (old Richtofen) is who we see in "The Giant" trailer, who is shot by the 'real' Richtofen (at least we think he's the real Richtofen for now). Anyway, Bob has 'real' Richtofen's traits ('real' Richtofen is the version from Origins) because of the brainwashing that Maxis had done to him. Bob was the one who 'created' the characters Dempsey, Nikolai and Takeo, Maxis did not 'create' these characters. However, they aren't really the real characters either. What Maxis had done to Bob, Bob had done to a US marine, a Japanese warrior, and a Russian soldier. So these three individuals are not actually Dempsey, Nikolai and Takeo, they were just brainwashed by Bob to make them believe that they were our four original characters. So the Origins versions of the characters are actually the real ones as far as we know, with real histories. Origins' Dempsey actually has a young daughter, and the standard Dempsey who Bob brainwashed doesn't, he just believes he does. So unfortunately, I don't think this is Maxis' plan. I think his plan will be revealed in this new map, "The Giant" (not really new) that will come to us on Black Ops III. I just proof-read my comment, and I realize how messed up that scenario sounds, so if you need some more clarity, I understand.

Dempsey raygun quote may connect Origins to SOE
BombProof replied to ZOMBIESLAYER10's topic in Shadows of Evil
There's more to it than that, in the "Shadows Of Evil" trailer, there is a sign which might reveal just where the characters are in the map we are shown in the trailer. If you pause it at a certain point, where Nero(?) is running down an alley way to escape a group of zombies, you will see a sign which doesn't have very clear words on it, but you can make out roughly what it is saying. On the sign, it looks like it says "Silesia", and we know "The Giant/Der Riese" is located in Lower Silesia. This ties a thread between these two maps already, and we've only seen trailers. However, just because they may be in a similar area doesn't really mean too much, because they could be different universes. There is a problem with this theory. I'm not sure there were settlements (such as the one seen in SOE) in Near Breslau, Germany, where "The Giant/Der Riese" is. My theory would be that, if "The Giant" and "Shadows Of Evil" are related in some way, it would be like what was going on in "Call Of The Dead", where the movie stars had to help our original four characters. (If you want the link to the video where I found most of this information, just say so, I'm not sure if posting video links is allowed, I'm trying to find the terms and conditions again but I can't find them.) -
Just saying hi to the zombies community, I've never been here before, and I can't wait to get involved in some very interesting discussions about theories and stuff about the zombies storyline. It's such a difficult concept to wrap your mind around, I still have little idea of what it is all about especially after this new trailer (darn you Treyarch! (I love you really)), but it'll be fun to try and solve things with all of you. Please, be nice to me :3 See you about the forums!

"Who controls the zombies in this storyline?: Notice that the eyes are yellow. Therefore, samantha is in control again." I thought that after Origins, Samantha was freed from agartha so that she could go home (that was all she wanted to do). With her power she rewrote time and space, the entirety of existence. She created her own timeline where she could become a happy child and created a friend, Eddie, and brought back Maxis and Fluffy into her newly created timeline. At least that's what I got from the end of Origins cutscene. She wiped her memory from all that had happened and made herself believe that everything was all just a game with the figurines, no longer knowing about everything that happened at all. There was still some reverence from what had happened, of course, but the default color for the zombies eyes became yellow after that, right? So nobody is no longer in control. I know "The Giant" takes place at a different time, and the zombies eyes are yellow which either means nobody is in control (based on my previous statement) or Samantha is in control. But I doubt Samantha is in control at this point because old Richtofen sent Maxis and Samantha somewhere in the teleporter, and time stops, meaning Samantha surely couldn't have reached the MPD yet to take control of the zombies, despite their yellow eyes. I don't know, this is all very confusing and Treyarch have done a great job to scramble our minds on this one. Please correct any of my points if they're wrong, I am still having a lot of trouble with this storyline and need the clarity, thanks.
