Looks like the guy who attacked rather wise a bit of a nut job, which is touched on earlier in this thread, thought I would post this though.

William Tager (born November 9, 1947) is a Charlotte, North Carolina man who assaulted Dan Rather and later murdered Campbell Montgomery because of his belief that television networks were watching him and sending him signals.

On October 4, 1986, Rather was attacked on Park Avenue by one or two men, presumed to have been mentally disturbed, who repeatedly yelled "Kenneth, what is the frequency?" The assailant or assailants were not apprehended or identified at the time. This event was the inspiration for the song "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" by the band R.E.M.

On August 31, 1994, Tager shot and killed Campbell Theron Montgomery, a technician employed by NBC, outside of the stage of the Today show. Psychiatrist Dr Park Dietz interviewed Tager. During these interviews, Tager stated he believed that television networks were monitoring him and beaming messages into his head and revealed he was Rather's assailant.

In 1996, Tager was sentenced to a maximum of 25 years imprisonment for 1st degree manslaughter in the case of Montgomery's murder. As of 2007[update] he is incarcerated in Sing Sing prison in New York state. Tager was denied parole in 2007, and can reappear before the parole board in October 2010.[1]

Some have questioned Tager's involvement in Rather's assault. In their initial reports, Rather and two other witnesses stated that Rather was assaulted by two men. When Tager was later identified as a suspect, Rather confirmed he was his assailant and explained that a second man had been present during the assault but had not participated in it.

Hertz - unit of frequency - The number of hertz (abbreviated Hz) equals the number of cycles per second.

"Kenneth, what's the frequency?"

Are they measuring the frequency of a atom bomb? A 115 bomb? BTW, this is NOT for Mw3. Period. Infinity Ward has there head so far up their @$$ they've forgotten what the sun looks like. Sorry, but if we did all this work for Infinity Ward, a company thaat can't even cater to the PS3 users, much less fix noob tubing i'd be offended. This is without a doubt treyarch. Only they could build up something like this!

Now, we are still missing something about spectrums! What does it meen!

I also have one fear. This may be fore Assassin's Creed 3.

This is interesting....

Electromagnetic radiation from space is unable to reach the surface of the Earth except at a very few wavelengths, such as the visible spectrum, radio frequencies, and some ultraviolet wavelengths. Astronomers can get above enough of the Earth's atmosphere to observe at some infrared wavelengths from mountain tops or by flying their telescopes in an aircraft. Experiments can also be taken up to altitudes as high as 35 km by balloons which can operate for months. Rocket flights can take instruments all the way above the Earth's atmosphere for just a few minutes before they fall back to Earth, but a great many important first results in astronomy and astrophysics came from just those few minutes of observations. For long-term observations, however, it is best to have your detector on an orbiting satellite ... and get above it all!

http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/scien ... ctrum.html

Long term observations? Isn't that what we thought Spudnik was used for? You know, considering that the last message was in that code.

Hence...

Nice find, spacegrass.

I decided to shift the letters as many time as possible, i saw no pattern or words come up. first is the original line. each successing line is one shift right.

had i known it was already done, i wouldnt have taken the time for that :( oh well.

Why is it set up 3 times? thats kinda pointless. if you wanna note the possible shift 4 right or left coulda starred 4 down or 4 up from the first line on the first table.

I believe that the 5+5=10 does mean this year's cinco de mayo. I wonder though if any connections can be made between the different transmissions.

So once again we may be looking too far into this. The colors in order on a colored TV, but with the screen as GKNova6 Transmission 3, are ROYGBIV. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. This may sound stupid, but put Kryptos as the alphabet key, and ROYGBIV as the passphrase. Just try.

This reminds me of something. Can you see the spectrum. I researched spectrum earlier today, and the first time spectrum was used in science was for the rainbow colors in visable light when seperated by a prism.

Check the wikipedia page For spectrum and see what you can find. I'm going to bed but I'll be back tommarow!

Hey guys I don't know if you already noticed this, but a few hours ago Josh Olin (Treyach's Community Manager) posted this on his Twitter account:

"Do you follow @Treyarch yet? Yes, it will be used in the future (along with @JD_2020 of course!)"

I guess this means that Treyarch will give a first official look at the game (hope is for Zombie mode).

P.S. I'm really surprised about what you guys are doing (the decrypting things, etc.), I have been following this forum since all this GKNOVA6 thing started, keep doing this well guys.

Not sure if anyone noticed but on Freedom7.com you can right click "view image" each of the images. (They are all seperate). One is a picture of something called "Capital Motel" and the map in the back is an upsidedown map of California. Specificially, San Francisco.

Also, Captial Motel is in Columbus Ohio.

Are we supposed to find some guy with a middle name of Alan or Shepard who Is someone connected to space and is from San Francisco or Columbus Ohio?

Odd... I looked up "What's the frequency kenneth!?", only to find!... exactly what carbon found. BUT, I did find a rumor about that insedent that said that the man may have been a KGB agent. Haven't we tracked most of Gknova6 to the CIA and KGB?

EDIT:

I also cross referrenced "Spectrum" with "Cold War" and came across "The Spectrum of War" in the US Millitary dictionary. It cansists of three stages: col, limited, and general. "Can't you see the whole spectrum!?" "Can you see what these events are escallating to!?" It seems to fit.

In addition, I found an example of algerithm. It has nothing to do with decoding messages, but SOMEONE can make use of it!

Sorry to double post. I was craming too much in one box. :P

Anyway, here's what I got on Freedom = 7. Freedom 7 was a space craft!

Freedom 7 MR-3 (18)

Freedom 7

Pad LC-5 ()

Redstone (5)

Crew: Alan B. Shepard, Jr

Milestones:

4/18/61 - 1st Launch Simulation at pad

5/05/61 - Launch

Payload: Spacecraft No. 7, Launch Vehicle MR-7

Mission Objective:

The main scientific objective of project Mercury was to determine man's capabilities in a space environment and in those environments to which he will be subject upon going into and returning from space. A few of the basic flight problems included: The development of an automatic escape system, vehicle control during insertion, behavior of space systems, evaluation of pilots capabilities in space, in flight monitoring, retrofire and reentry maneuvers and landing and recovery.

Orbit:

Altitude: 116.5 statute miles

Orbits: 0

Duration: 0 Days, 0 hours, 15 min, 28 seconds

Distance: 303 statute miles

Velocity: 5,134 mph

Max Q: 580 psf

Max G: 11

Launch:

May 5, 1961 9:34am EST The formal countdown for the preparation for launching MR-3 started on the day previous to launch day. The countdown was actually split into two parts because previous experience had shown that it was preferable to run the countdown in two shorter segments and allow the launch crew of both the spacecraft and the launch vehicle to obtain some rest before starting the final preparation. The countdown started at 8:30am EST on May 4, 1961. All operations proceeded normally and were completed ahead of schedule. A build-in hold of approximately 15 hours was called at T-6 hours 30 minutes. During this time the various pyrotechnics were installed in the spacecraft and the hydrogen peroxide system was serviced.

The countdown was resumed at T-6 hours 30 minutes at 11:30pm EST on May 4, 1961. A built-in hold of 1 hour had been previously agreed upon at T-2 hours 20 minutes. This hold was to assure that spacecraft preparations had been completed before the astronaut was transported to the pad. The countdown proceeded with only minor delays until T-2 hours 20 minutes. At this time, final preparation of the spacecraft was conducted and the astronaut was apprised of the continuance of the countdown and transported to the Pad. The countdown was continued after the hold at T-2 hours 20 minutes and, except for some minor holds, the countdown continued until T-15 minutes. At this time it was determined that photographic coverage of the launch and flight could not be obtained because of low clouds near the launch area. Weather forecasters predicted that visibility would improve rapidly within 20 to 45 min. During this time, one of the 400hz power inverters to the launch vehicle had regulation problems. The count was recycled to the T-35 minute and holding mark and the count picked up 86 minutes later after the replacement of the inverter.

Again at T-15 minutes it was necessary to hold the count again to make a final check of the real-time trajectory computer. The countdown then picked up and proceeded until liftoff at 9:34am EST on 5/5/1961.

Landing: May 5, 1961. 75deg 53min longitude, 27deg 13.7min latitude in the Atlantic Ocean.

Mission Highlights: Mission successful

Right, so MOD is the initiation of a code. What we need is to find the passkey.

Most likely, use this to solve http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/vigenere-keyed.php

If you click on Corrected K2, you will see an example of what I mean.

m o d - 10 21 26 1 26 19 25 16 22 2 20 1 21 23 16 26 22 19 3

Nothing in life is to be feared it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more so that we may fear less.

m o d - 1 0 0

Outside of consciousness there lies the cold and alien world of actual things.

m o d

Can't you see the whole spectrum?

I think that second MOD 100 sequence is a key piece of the puzzle that needs to be solved. I looked at it from a spectral view, frequency range view and just about everything possible but couldn't come up with a way to decode it.

Also, the opening MOD sequence is a bit tricky too. They JUAZ... sequence we got was by simple substitution i.e., A=1, B=2. As carbon mentioned above the Vigenere keyed cipher is the one we probably need to use to decode this. However on a page for the K2 solution I noticed that numbers and alphabets were co-related from 0 to 25 and not 1 to 26. So A=0, B=1 etc.

This could mean two things - either the opening sequence has to be shifted one digit lower or the cipher we are looking at is not the right one.

There is also a third possibility - the 4 beeps after the first MOD. If they do indicate morse code then --.- would be Q, basically saying that the number sequence needs to be converted to letters starting at Q: Q=1, R=2, S=3 etc. Again the numbers could start either from 0 or 1 depending on what cipher is used.

I wouldn’t rule out freedom7.com just because it was registered in 1997. The “game architects” may have bought the domain, or agreed to temporarily use it. The site just seems to “fit” with the game. There is no other reason for the freedom7.com site to be up, and the information there is so vague.

AFAIK, MOD 1 0 0 is already solved with the frequency tones. Frequency of the tones/100 = numbers that equaled the electron shell of uranium and plutonium.

I agree this is the key we are missing. Food for thought on this: When kryptos p2 was solved, it was actually solved incorrectly. Sanford had missed a character near the end. It was initially thought to be ID IN ROWS, but when corrected said X LAYER TWO. The fact the first translation meant anything in English was pure coincidence and beyond all odds.

perhaps Q is a missing letter in the code, and needs to be inserted to make it work.

But what about the number 26 in the sequence, by starting at 0 it only goes to 25.

Numbers have to be normalized if starting from 0 in a cyclic order. So basically 26 becomes 0. Here's where I read it - http://realmoftwelve.kryptos.info/speculation/k2solution.html.

Ya, that is what I was thinking when I was messing around with it. Then CoDz went down and I started to watch TV, I will get back to it in a little bit.

I have something! I decided to brute force the ciphertext "juzazsypvbtauwpzvsc" and found the vignere key to be:

"rnrbakhlnjteqebnraj"

http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/vigenere.php

This is clearly the correct answer!

But seriously, if we use the same method as other challenges:

1-The quote reveals the encryption algoritm. In this case the quote leads to the Kryptos statue which (the first two) were encrypted using a keyed-Vignere.

2-The MOD is to reveal the key. However this time (for a keyed Vignere) we need two keys.

3-The overwhelming theory is the ciphertext is a number-alpha which translates to "juzazs ypvbtauwpzvsc". i tend to agree, but are there other theories? Key-shifting by +/-4 (caeser cipher) was also tried.

i guess I'm just talking out loud to see if this sparks some new ideas...

Can't you see the whole spectrum?

From Wikipedia:

The word spectrum saw its first scientific use within the field of optics to describe the rainbow of colors in visible light when separated using a prism.

We need a prism to see the spectrum. Maybe prism is a key for a cipher...

Posted

The difficulty (or not) of getting URANIUM and PLUTONIUM had me thinking those must be the key, the MOD--.- though, I believe has us stumped on getting the right letters into the cipher.

I don't know if someone already told this but...

Just searching on google, I found this :

"Freedom 7 is displayed at the U.S. Naval Academy in Anapolis, Maryland."

It was "M O D, can't you see the whole spectrum?" followed by the white noise containing the 5+5=10 and FREEDOM7. the phrase was the key to use the spectral analyzer on the message.

So IMO that one is solved.

Finding where it fits in the hidden spectral messages though... not so much.
