'Only 4 steps' -- Said by the game

I was playing and I activated node 1 and my character, the white guy, said 'only 3 more to go' or something of that meaning.

Why would the game say that if there were more than 4 steps?

Just refer to the white guy as dempsey, and he means theres only three more nodes to activate for the Cassimir mechanism

There is already an extra step in gathering the generator.......that makes 5 if you count that.

Some of the steps take more steps.

and the refernce is as said previously... to the nodes, there are 4.. first two steps (thats right it took TWO steps) activates Node 1... 3 more to go, means 3 more nodes... which does not indicate 3 steps, as the first node took 2 to begin with....

The ''steps'' depend on how you count them.

Is step one getting the generator or is it getting the black hole. Is it turning on the tv or opening the gate to the swamp, etc, etc. The only things that are numbered and are static are that there are 4 nodes, corresponding to the four lights.

Correct. Dempsey seems messed up because his memory was wiped
