Call of the Dead bring the zombie story to the present?

This is my first post ever so just bear with me 8-)

Ok, all of the previous maps have been set in the past... What I was thinking is, due to the new map being set like a film in present day does that mean the zombies are no longer in the past but in the present?... I watched a video about the new map an George A. Romero states he found old nazi documents, so I think he wanted to make a film based on his findings and recreated the zombies but the somehow got out of control,, maybe he found out the boat was an actual german ship and sort of created a zombie by following the old documents not knowing there could have been dead germans under the ice thus bringing them back to life (zombies)... Maybe he had some element 115 or something to see if the documents were actually true... I don't know... What do you guys think?
