To date, how many playable characters are there in Nazi Zombies?

The 4 marines in Nacht der untoten, the 4 marines in Verruckt (i dont think those would count because they dont have names), Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Edward Richtofen, Takeo Masaki, JFK, Richard Nixon, Robert McNamara, Fidel Castro, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker, Robert Englund, Danny Trejo. There.

I'm not entirely sure on this. I don't even know if the NdU and the Verruckt marines are the same or different (I always thought they were different sets of marines, but I've been told they're the same), and whether Tank was one of the 4 playable marines in Verruckt, or just one that was off-screen. Regardless, I'll give the brains to you because it'll probably be the closest answer.

You forgot Samantha Sigint! But I'll give brains to you as well when I can. But I'm pretty certain now they're different groups of marines.

Tank is one of the verruckt marines. And I would count the marines from verrucky and nacht differently since one squad talks and the other doesnt.

Just a heads up, but Tank was not any of the playable Marines from the Verruckt level. He was sent ahead of his team to Verruckt to do survailance, but is caught as a spy by Group 935 and sent to Dr Richtofen for testing. The Verruckt Marines that you play as are on a rescue mission to save Dempsey and an unknown spy(peter?) All four Marines are eventually killed.

The Call of the Dead radios seem to describe the events pretty clearly.

Well you're right about the Data Servant Files saying that he was to lead a team sent to Verruckt to get fellow OSS member Peter out of Verruckt. However, during Tank's reconnaissance of Wittenau Sanatarium, his cover is blown and is discovered as a spy. They even state on the CotD radio that a spy (Dempsey) is sent to Richtofen after he's caught at Verruckt. (to replace the mexican subject that Richtofen killed.)

Remember the OSS specialized in undercover reconnaissance missions. They worked behind enemy lines. They most likely sent Tank in first undercover to find out the exact status of Peter. But after Tank is captured as a spy as well, the OSS decided to send a rescue team into Verruckt to recover two of their agents.

Also, Richtofen states that the group of Marines sent into Verruckt were all killed by the first batch of test subjects. Dempsey obviously wasnt one of the Marines due to the fact he's still alive.

It's a common misconception that Dempsey was one of the Marines we play as in Verruckt.

I'll have a go at it, normal Nazi zombies, Sergei zombies(Prisonbreak), Creepy crawlers,Stampede zombies, Downpour zombies(I'm not sure what they really are), Abominable Martyrs,Hellhounds and Cosmic silverback.
