Symbol Wheels

Ive seen the easter egg done and know all the steps. One thing though, in the quicksand/mud room there is the wheels on the walls with different symbols on each one. I automatically assumed it was part of the easter egg, but coldnt find out which step it was. Now do I read over it every time, or do those wheels have their own unique purpose?

Those wheels are for the egg only, it's step 10 I think.
