What is the "True" story of Shangri La?

According to the developer Shangri La is shrouded in mystery... We know the myths and stories of this Paradise, but in the Nazi Zombie storyline what significance does Shangri La have?

Most of the threads in this section of the forum focus on the Major easter egg of this map but we are failing to recognize the smaller and possibly more important eggs.

-The Mining facility.

-Bloody body bags.

-Blue canisters found in Kino and Five.

-Strange carvings found everywhere including Swastikas.

-If the gateway to Agartha was here did the Nazi's want anything to do with it?

-The Altar with Richtofens name on it.

-Why didn't Maxis know of this supply? He says they are running out of 115 yet there is a crapload laying here in the temple.

These are examples although I'm sure there are more I didn't mention. If we can take these and connect them with Nazi myths, legends, and the story itself then we can solve another part of this almost complete story.

To aegasknight, I think I might have found the answer to your Russian writing thing. From 1924-1928 a Russian man named Nikolai Roerich led an expedition through hard to reach places in Asia on a search for Shambhala/Shangri La. I guess the Russian writing confirms he found it.

It might have to do with the Nazi connection and Shambhala, where they led expeditions into Tibet, which was connected to the vril society and their search for Atlantis in hope of finding advanced technology and the Aryan ancestors who survived it and earned magical powers. It's all crazy stuff.

As to in the game, the mine was obviously for the purpose of collecting 115, but why and for who is the question.

There's some russian things there, like the lunar landers as barriers and those ammo crates.

They did a rather poor job of answering questions on this map, just a big easter egg and whole new world filled of unanswered questions.

this, but did you expect anything different? it seems like the black ops maps are light on content, but its important to remember that most of the most intriguing clues in the W@W maps (radios,notes, sound effects) were patched in almost a year after their initial release... if the new maps retain the same level of popularity its not out of the question that closer to black ops 2 we'll start seeing some more substantial easter eggs pop up...

Maybe the richtofen shrine is their because he has been to the location of shangri-la before, giving the people living there certain things and being known as a "god" to them. (maybe he came with the golden rod and that did something to the people...?)

when i think of the bo easter eggs and waw easter eggs i find that in the first few maps there is very little news they give you. in verrucket ( sorry for misspelling, i really hate that word) all we really found was writing on the walls which unlocked the secret of the next map. in shi no numa. we find out more about 115, peter, and the meteor. not really all that much for the story line. then we go to der riese. this place was a bloody gold mine when it came to easter eggs. we found out how the zombies came to be, there mind state how they cannot controlled, fluffy that cute,lovable, homicidale s.o.b. maxis work with the teleporters with ricktofen. ricktofen possibly killing maxis and his daughter along with fluffy.

now we go to BO. kino, not really anything. we found canisters with monkeys, we found out about maxis possible operation here and another MDT station. ascension we had that mystery man easter egg which really did nothing to help the four so far. and we learn of the thunder gun production, and we learn about the gersh device. we know there is a diary full of secrets of what 115 can really do. in COTD, we find the golden rod for ricktofen...... thats really it. other than confirming that he did experiments on live people with 115. but we knew that from the dreamland theory or what ever it was called. in shangri-la, now mind you i have a ps3 sp i haven't really been able to research enough. but in shangri-la ricktofen gets the focusing stone, we send the two people on there way. the radios just tell next steps to the main easter egg so its not really all that special.

now in theory, if there is a next map i think there will be another gold mine of easter eggs. all of which will help complete our understanding of the story line.

last thing before i go, these were all basic ideas if i missed some things than i missed them. sorry. this was just really my two cents.

This is what really happens about shangri-la.It is beleieved that there is a land which that leads a supposed portal to argartha.A ancient people were believed to live in this land living off resources around them.This Land is Shangri-la.The natives there were believed to have encounter a very ancient and brilliant race of underground aliens known as the vrilla.The people encountered these aliens and they were at peace.The vrilla offered immortality and eternal youth with the price of mining element 115 for a long amount of time.The people agreed so the treaty began.But then 1 day when richtofen and schousner were testing the first human test subject on the teleporter and richtofen was teleported to Griffen Station.He saw the MTD(or I believed it's called the MPD)He touched it and got a static reaction(This is how the voices richtofen says he hears begin)He is then teleported to shangri-la i'll continue this later on today.
