Elephant Noise - SOLVED

Recommended Posts

We've all heard it.

That bizarre, elephant - like noise that can be heard across the map in Call of the Dead.

It seems like the sound plays randomly,

with no consistant trigger.

I have just discovered this is not the case.

EXPLAINATION

After completing the Easter Egg,

standing next to the door (where the characters were trapped) allows you to hear some

mechanical sounds from the inside.

You hear the sound of...

-Hammers,

- Jack Hammers,

- Metal scraping, etc.

This is all looped together.

The 'elephant noise' is actually PART OF THIS LOOP.

When listening to the audio, the Elephant noise will play in the same position,

relatively to the other sounds.

It also has the same muffled, brass like sound that all the mechanical sounds possess.

I've listened to the loop over and over.

Elephant noise is always in each loop, consistant every time.

THUS:

It's part of the EasterEgg Background Sound Loop.

It can only be heard around the lighthouse, which is still quite a HUGE area!!

The reason it seems so loud, is because of the attribute of the sound.

It's no louder then the rest of the mechanical background noise,

It's just A LOT easier to distinguish over said background noise

(Particularly because of the large pitch difference)

It might actually be the sound of a table scraping across metal, etc.

It does sound an awful lot like an elephant,

but I can actually understand it being an industrial noise.

CONFIRMATION:

Check this for yourself after finishing the egg,

and making a crawlie far away (so there's no obtrusive noise).

If anybody could get their hands on the audio loop in question, I'd be grateful!

:)

you don't have to complete the easter egg to hear it... and it seemed pretty random to me... 100% definitely an elephant... if this is solved then why is it there??? I am assuming that there are elephants on shangri la maybe... but WTF is a elephant doing in syberia on COTD??? lets solve this for real i am down...

Just going to say that your making it sound like it has a big part of the story :? I just think it's some wacky noises Treyarch put like when they fail to teleport the first time and hear those wacky sounds  makes me laugh, but not trying to flame or anything :)

I'm almost 100% sure that the elephant represts the jungle like atmosphere of the place your sending the crew. It has no significanct other than letting you know that the next map will be in the jungle. But if you find anything of interest post it.

I thought about it a bit more. i have come to the conclusion that since you have finished the EE, you can hear the elephant noises because the crew have left a space/time rip (or time portal) which is like a gateway to Shangri-La.

True.

When I wrote that,

I was thinking that there was interfering noise from the Characters when trying to hear it.

Realized now that they hardly talk anyway.

i have come to the conclusion that since you have finished the EE, you can hear the elephant noises ...

Nope.

Don't have to have finished the EE.

(As pointed out above).

Plus,

you guys HAVE to go and listen to this by the door for yourselfs,

before you claim it's an elephant.

It sounds quite brassy when you hear it poperly.

Just going to say that your making it sound like it has a big part of the story

LOL

I'm not.

I posted this because the mysterious 'elephant noise' was being discussed around this forum,

being misinterpreted as significant.

It's not a part of the story at all, which is what I am saying.

I've only heard it when the teleporter was done, the elephant was probably from Shangri La and could be heard from the teleporter. That's only my theory though.

EDIT: Sorry didn't read the post directly above me I guess the elephant is already there.

it is obviously not a big part of the story... but you can hear it once the power is turned on and it is around the lighthouse... you DO NOT have to complete the easter egg... I am listening to it on 5.1 surround sound Headphones and it is 100% a elephant. This is zombies and EVERYTHING has something to do with the story... but this is obviously just a tiny part... ultimately I am from the school of thought that it was a teaser to the next map but I havent played shangri la yet because greedy treyarch wants extra money from microsoft and dont know if there are elephants on shangri la... are there elephants on shangri la??

but seriously, WTF IS A ELEPHANT DOING IN SYBERIA???

Yes...

That's re-iteration....

Plus,

I disagree.

I don't think it's an elephant at all.

Through both sound and logic

(why would they put an elephant noise in an ambient loop full of construction noises?

Eggs aren't supposed to be so common / repetitive.)

this is my thoughts. when using the teleporter in der riese and kino. u can hear dogs, sam, and zombies. mabey when they have the teleporter u can hear elephants because of shangri la. just spitballing here
