Kids singing, but where's the kids???

When you go down the minecart you can hear kids singing (changing audio options will help) I heard it and Dempsey makes a comment on it. Any thoughts about what it might mean?

Also whenever you do that jump off the end of the slide you make a mario hopping like sound.
