Of course.I see it now.

I'm just thinking, why would CDC and CIA investigate Nuketown in the 2020's?Searchs for a cure for the Zombies,and/or,a guilty person? They probably know somethings, but not every detail.

Also, what about Richtofen speakin' what he speaked in Moon? How did the USA got his records?Nuketown is close to Area 51(since the two are in a Desert in Nevada...)?

So guys, I wanted to discuss something. The big problem with Black Ops II taking place in the future is the Nuketown bomb. Everyone's like, how could it be there in the future? I realized the answer was staring at me in the face. You know the nuclear spacecraft? The one people have theorized to be hidden within the cloud? I think that that is what created the cloud, not a standard nuclear explosion. This would explain why it takes place in the future. It would also explain how the cloud stays so long and raises the dead.

So, Nuketown was constructed in the '60's.

In the '60's, it was blown up.

It was left untouched due to radiation for a long time.

In the 2020's, a nuclear spacecraft is built nearby.

Nuketown gets even more destroyed.

Survivors fight zombies there.

It gets blown up again with the rest of the world.

All in all, Nuketown has a lot of... nukes...

What do you guys think?

It sounds plausible, I've never really looked into the Nuketown loading screen discussions but did we ever explain the purpose of this Nuclear spacecraft or who built it and why?

Posted

Because of its location, I think it is safe to say the United States. Why? Perhaps for war? Why do we build drones? Or perhaps for science. Sustainable energy. (just with some nasty side-effects)

Would Shangri-La be 2025ish as well? Or 2011 from CotD?

Also I'm not disagreeing, but why would they go to that time period for Moon? I know about the evidence in Die Rise, but couldn't it theoretically be 2011 for Moon and Nuketown, than 2025-ish for Green Run and GLF?

Posted

No. Shangri-La is sometime in or after the 1990's. We can't be any more specific than that. Call of the Dead, 2011.

Nuketown, Green Run, and Great Leap Forward take place in the future.

1. They have futuristic weaponry of the time

2. They were all blown up simultaneously

3. Green Run has a futuristic intelligent sentient robot

4. Great Leap Forward has flatscreen computer monitors

5. Great Leap Forward has futuristic refrigerators

6. Great Leap Forward has an old 1996 poster

7. Great Leap Forward has a destroyed building built in 1998

8. Samuel says "I put the F U in future!"

9. Misty says "This is the future," literally.

10. Maxis talks via an electromagnetic connection of machines, better known as the internet

The evidence points to them being in the future rather than present day. Why? Well, Richtofen didn't particularly care WHEN he was controlling humanity, now did he? Also, he was never very accurate with time travel. Also, Maxis's quote in Green Run indicates it's been a minimum of 20 years, and it can't be that much more than it given Marlton was at Nuketown. Therefore, Nuketown and Moon probably happened near the end of 2025 or one of the following years. Green Run and Great Leap Forward probably happened in 2045.

EDIT: Btw, fun fact. The Death Machine has a date of creation printed on it. Hard to make out what it is though. Just thought it was cool.

He's spoken through Griffin Station's P.A. system, the Bus Depot's P.A. system, the monitors of the Power Facility, through the Tower of Babble in cut-content, through CPUs in the multi-level mall, and through TVs throughout Great Leap Forward

Posted

I'm not saying it's a fact that he is speaking through the internet, but he can't be speaking through Aether. There's not much choice left. He's speaking through electromagnetic waves. (A bunch of those are known as the "internet".)

EDIT: So...... everyone okay with edits of the nuke and nuclear spacecraft in Nuketown?

I think the nuclear spacecraft theory is good...

Does Lucifer in this storyline just have some kind of obligation to punish sinners? Like the destruction of the Earth and the raising of all of the dead could be equivalent to Judgement Day and echoes the lyric in the song "115" about the Second Coming. Just a food for thought I guess.

And why do we say Brutus betrayed Lucifer?

Posted

Awesome. I don't think it is an obligation. He seems to enjoy it. But his intentions are even murkier than Maxis's.

As for Brutus, that was FatedTitan's idea in his Brutus thread. But the idea basically stems from how in the final step of the Side Mission, Brutus turns on his master to help out Al.

Btw: Before:

P47.The United States was performing nuclear weapons testing, primarily in Nevada with its other top secret facilities. A test site called Nuketown was built, and it was built to test the damage of a nuclear explosion on a small town. The town was filled with mannequins to simulate real people. Sometime not too long before 1963, a battle was fought at Nuketown between infiltrating Spetsnaz and protecting Black Ops soldiers. The Black Ops won the battle, and they were fortunate that the United States had then cancelled the detonation of the nuke in Nuketown. In Hanford, Washington, United States, a region known by some as the Green Run, homage to a nuclear project conducted there long ago, consisted of many undercover operations. Around the time of the Nuketown incident, there were several secretive tasks being conducted by secret Soviet insurgents. A nearby farm was a cover for the housing of a missile and corrosive waste. The Soviets also acquired many Perk-A-Cola machines. A new Perk-A-Cola was present: Double-Tap Root Beer II. However, it is not known whether the Soviets or Americans made it.

Before:

P61.A weapon was developed that fired 115 in a new state of matter that was like goo. The sweatshop managed to acquire a few pieces to build one, but they didn't get all of the parts. Around this time, in Hollywood, California, United States, there was a film Studio that filmed many famous movies in many different genres. For an upcoming science fiction movie, they researched some futuristic-looking weaponry. Two of the guns that were featured were the Ray Gun and the Chinese goo-shooting gun; however, they were just replicas of the real things. While the Studio was filming the movie in which these weapons were to make an appearance, Space Monsters from the Moon 2, an international group of terrorists began to assault the industrialized nations of the world. The Studio was assaulted by some mercenaries, but some combat-ready agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or FBI, arrived at the Studio to fight back.

The Studio began filming the movie in which these weapons were to make an appearance, Space Monsters from the Moon 2. Meanwhile, an amusement park was set-up in Nevada that housed a retro-futuristic exhibit called Nuketown 2025, in commemoration of the original Nuketown. In 2025, an international group of terrorists began to assault the industrialized nations of the world. However, the United States fought back. Nuketown 2025 and the Studio were just two of the many places that were ambushed by mercenaries. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, or FBI, and the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, colloquially known as SEAL Team Six both sent heavily armored agents and soldiers to defend against the mercenaries. For unknown reasons, a nuke was dropped to end the battle in Nuketown 2025.

Before:

P63.Consolidated Coach Corporations was a bus-line company that created a bus that could drive itself with a robotic interface, named the Bus Driver. The United States reinitiated its aboveground nuclear testing program. They decided to drop a nuke on Nuketown, which they still had just sitting there, collecting dust. They decided to do a side-by-side comparison, comparing the effects of a nuclear explosion on the old Nuketown compared to the advanced technology of 2025, with a retro spin to it, of the new Nuketown 2025. In the month of January, radiation scientists were studying the effects of the explosion shortly after the nuke went off in the original Nuketown when they noticed zombies rising, which was due to either 115 or the zombies themselves from Area 51. The radiation scientists sent a distress call to Area 51, which then sent in a two groups of four agents each. One group consisted of CIA agents. The other consisted of agents from the Center for Disease Control, or CDC. When they arrived, all but one of the radiation scientists had turned into zombies themselves. The remaining scientist, Marlton Johnson, a young protégé in his twenties, had hidden in the fallout shelter in Nuketown. Perk-A-Cola machines and the Pack-A-Punch, hooked up to a car battery, rained from the sky due to the explosion. A rigged intercom was still functioning in Nuketown that received transmissions from Griffin Station that could be heard across Nuketown. The CDC and CIA fought against these zombies in Nuketown.

I don't think Alcatraz was as demonic and littered with bodies then as it is now. The beginning of the trailer shows Ferguson patrolling clean and normal halls in Alcatraz with no signs of satanic play. It's only until after Al kills him, the black and white filter comes off and everything changes. Bodies hang from the ceiling, candles are scattered on the floor, and theres fire and cracks everywhere.

I do think the Warden was performing satanic rituals though. It just seems like Lucifer brought them the prisoners into a hellish version of the prison.

Posted

The transition you illustrate is only true for the zombies and degradations, not the rituals and everything. That's just an assumption. And the signs on the walls illustrate that zombies and Perks WERE there prior.

The cinematic intro details the first time they repeat this event I think. When it skips to color, it is skipping to the "current" game.

Doesn't the sign that mentions using perks to increase peformance contradict the whole "plucking perks from the future" theory?

And I feel like the #666 sign mentioning zombies is just something added by Lucifer for the hell of it(no pun intended) like the hanging bodybags and candles on the floor. It's just odd for the signs to go in a numerical order and then jump to three digits with a ridiculous regulation.

No, it doesn't.

We have all these signs, which are a direct reference to the state of things prior. You can't just say that the one that you don't like was made differently than the rest. We already know the Warden was a satanist, which is why there is one numbered 666.

Posted

You only say the Warden was a satanist based on observations made after the transition.

And you're right, I can't dictate what is canon and what is not on the map. So I should go on and say the entire map is just a design, from the storm outside to the electrocuted Golden Gate Bridge, by Lucifer used to torture these mobsters.

Posted

Well, obviously. Lucifer has not yet shown very much original thought. He mooches off other people. I doubt he got the idea "I'll go put satanic references in the warden's office so they think he's a satanist". Come on, Monopoly Mac.

I don't mean to be mean, but you're only now joining the discussion after everything's been figured out. Alcatraz went through several stages. It was normal. Then it was evil. Then it was zombified. Then it was normal again.

The signs specifically tell us that zombies and Perks were there before the map. This is why the Warden is a satanist: Satan spoke to him. Notice how the sign says "PERKS", plural.

Posted

I was iffy about the whole Warden worshipping devil thing too Mac, but it seems like a quote from Finn does indicate that it may have something to do with why Alctraz was changed to the hellish version we see during the map.

"How's my more times? What do I need to understand? This is some kind of black magic voo doo shit?! Someone make this all happen? The warden? Was it the stuff in his office that caused all this?"

Posted

Turns out the storm wasn't the devil's design, it was just how the audio log by Ferguson described it. "and so it was here, beneath the dark and stormy winter skies, that the hapless Arlington met his grizzly end".

I'm with the Satanic Warden theory. I'm with that. It's just the whole, plucking zombies from the future and locking them in Alcatraz seems so ludicrous to me. Couldn't a better explanation be that inmates started to turn into zombies after dying in Alcatraz? We saw Ferguson come back after getting stabbed to death.

Posted

Thank you Shooter. That's very helpful. :)

Well, Lucifer himself says it, sorta. You put 115 in the counter, and he says "maybe next time" and changes it to 666. Showing that the zombies are his fault. Now are we supposed to believe he created the zombies without 115? That contradicts everything we know. So I suggest that they were plucked just like we've shown he did with the Perks and weapons.

And yes, Monopoly Mac, that is possible, too. Who knows how many zombies were the ones Lucifer brought? He could've just brought a single zombie and it spread. It could've been many.

Posted

But Ferguson turned without 115. So we should believe that he created these zombies without 115. Alcatraz guards and inmate zombies couldn't have been plucked from a Russian cosmodrome or a German asylum.

Posted

We already know that 115 can be airborne. And what if all the original zombies died? Leaving nothing but the prisoners that resulted? Same kind of scenario: I bet you are not made out of the same cells you were as a baby. That kind of thing.
