compare/contrast moon on der reise and ascension

just noticed/thought of this.. the moon on Der Reise is very dark on the front side and there is so much light coming from the "dark side" of the moon... this has to have some significance... sorry if this had been covered before. but especially the difference between the way the moon looks on ascension and how it looks on der reise..? i wonder if there is significance there or just coincidence

Well considering the sun is behind the moon in Der Riese, of course it's going to be dark on the side we see and light on the other side.

Der Riese takes place mid afternoon by the looks of the sun, just that there is an eclipse going on so it appears dark. This is also the case with Shangri-La.

But with Nacht der Untoten and Ascension, it takes place around midnight or a bit after it, so the sun would light it up like normal. If Treyarch had replaced the second earth in Area 51 with the moon after the EE, than I'm sure it would be like that as well.
