What time period do you think it should be.

I mean that the CoD games has been in modern eras but since WaW, it was the last time we ever had Call of Duty game that are before modern period with all of similar things from MW series. I just kinda getting tired of modern and cold war era. They should do something new then after that they go back to WW2 period. Like WW1 or something similar. If treyarch made the game after Black ops 2. It should go back to WW2 or futher past.

I know this is not the right time to figure what time period of the CoD game should be after black ops 2. We know that black ops 2 will be just similar to black ops 1. I just hope black ops 2 would be the last treyarch game on modern time period once again. Just don't tell me that i should go play Waw or older CoD games. Its fun when treyarch improves graphics and releases CoD game based on pre-cold war era time period with WW2 or older time period based zombies would be very interesting too. Something like resurrection to WW2 or older era. :)

I have to agree with you. There haven't been many other World War II since. People say there have been many WWII games since World at War but there have not been any notable ones. There will be BiA:F4 in the latter part of this year but from the looks of it, it won't be dealing with the subject matter in a serious manner akin to its predecessors and World at War. Something over the top like Bulletstorm. Also a new WWII game from Treyarch couldn't be connected to the story and characters from World at War unless it was a prequel of sorts or include some other battles from other theaters; World at War gave us the final days of WWII.

I would personally love to see a World War One game, maybe some very influential battles; even

storming the Argonne Forest with mortars flying everywhere, gas attacks and armed with only a

a lewis gun or a browning, cutting down lines of german infantry, sounds good

WW1 would be so boring. You know what they had in WW1? Bolt action rifles, planes that are slower than Priuses, and mustard gas. It was a dirty war. It was a horrifying war. Your feet rotted off their bones because they were soaked in dirty, bacterial water every single hour of every single day. Your skin boiled when you got hit by mustard gas. But how would you implement this in a video game? You couldn't 'spray'. There would be no thermal vision, no chopper gunner, no RC-XD, no EMP, no suppressors, absolutely bare minimum technology. What is the fun in that?

Personally, I thought the Cold War Era was amazing. It captures the essence of the old WW2 sheer brutality and relative simplicity while also getting all the cool stuff of the modern era. :D

Being one of the ones saying "If you want to play the old maps the classic way, go play WAW." I too agree with you. I would love to have a WAW2 or something similar. (which I also siad before) The storyline could pick up anywhere. The options are plentiful. Having good ol' Waw gameplay with newer graphics would be awesome.

As for BLOPS2, I just can't wait. There are so many questions left unanswered. So many hints. The zombies........Ohhh the zombies.

The whole Samantha/Richtofen deal. Will hacker return? How many ideas from this forum will be added to the new game on disc?

And I'm sure they could add new variations, including specialist, into the killstreaks. War itself is not for the light-hearted, Lemoade. You could come up with something for every time period. COD 1-9 include bombs, airstrikes, bullets, grenades, KNIFE,etc. All of which could mangle and twist your limbs right off.

It would be better because during that time, there is no defense traps like boucing betties. But it would be more fair and fun because there was no bogus ways that enemies can get you like on WaW. ;)

Ah yes, forgot about my old friends the MP18 and the M1917. But still, the variety just isn't there. Ya can't make a Call of Duty game with only two SMG's.

We'll see though. It'll most likely be in the 60's again, but as for the 2013 game, who knows?

As far as zombie maps go, I figured they could do some tribute to the MW series and have a huge map to break up the routine (like COTD did in Blops).

Here's the intial idea;

Okay so all this seriously just came to me as I typed, but it was great idea I think, and makes sense with what we know now and felt like it needed its own thread

Having IW and MW take over zombies, isn't going to happen. And as stated in the past with threads of ideas saying "What if zombies came to MW?" no, that could completely ruin it because Treyarch has always done it best and it's their trademark anyways.

That being said, with COTD being in the mix, that "technically" counts as "Modern zombie" but, not exactly. So the idea has crossed my mind that it probably wouldn't hurt to have another map as such in the next installment as a "Thanks, great series IW!" where the crew again, is sent somewhere in 2013, looking for clues blah blah blah, seeing what they could do to stop Richtofen and be sent to the Gulag. However, say that by mistake when teleporting, an accident occurs, sending waves of 115 surging in some France city of sorts by triggering an ancient mystery that lies beneath? (Paris, is possible, also Paris takes place in MW3)

So, remember those ideas floating about and the EE (literally) with signs pointing to France? They could have a clever way to mixing in the crew searching for the lost catacombs beneath Paris, a misfired accident triggers an incidence, thus releasing the 115 and reanimating the dead.

BUT (lol butt joke) There's more.

At first I hated the idea of having different crews for a zombie map, but it kinda grew on me and I don't mind it so much from time to time. So, what if in this Modern era zombies map, the survivors were our other beloved Price, Soap, Nikolai (modern, Nikolai) and Yuri? I imagine another epic cutscene at the beginning where you've got a convoy head to the Gulag and some chatter going on while Price is lighting up a cigarette and Soap comes over with a concern about the gang they just caught (The Four Guardians

BUT (lol two butts)

Here's the kicker, throughout the gameplay, much like you could alternate between Area 51 and Moon in the latest map, what if you could alternate crews? Shit goes down in the Gulag, and now the Four Guardians are in another same old fight for their lives by zombie inmates (DOA anyone? ) and struggle to push though to the catacombs while Price and Co. All fight on the surface against the terrorizing hordes of fresh undead.

There is a rumor going around that they are thinking about making a CoD for the Civil War.

If this is the case, it would be a big change in gameplay style.

I, personally, think it would be awesome. But that's only my opinion. And everyone has an opinion.

Or do they?

Honestly , I am just getting tired of modern call of duty games. I just want to back further than cold war era, like WaW again. Wars before 1960's is always interesting and can be challegeing due to low technologies were available.

Agreed. Between Battlefield and MW alone, they've got the Modern era of things covered as far as multiplayer/campaigns go. I'd personally LOVE to see then return with a WaW 2 and cover more of the Axis point of view by covering the Valkurie operations.

I couldn't agree more with this ^^^^^ I really thought the cold war was awesome. Think about it, we had never seen it before. It was basically an all new gun set. It also went back to world war 2 times with guns in zombie maps and also in the campaign of course. Also, they captured the cold war era so well, especially in Vietnam. During the Khe Sanh mission, the waves and waves of vietnamese infantry was so accurately depicted, I was thoroughly impressed. I have the highest hopes for the next Call Of Duty game. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a continuation of black ops in the same time period, but on the other hand, Treyarch could very well surprise us and throw yet another era never seen before in COD. Even if they went back to world war II, I would be super excited just because COD has come so far and all the updates and new ideas that have been implemented in previous installments would now be put into an older time period. All told, my biggest hope for the next COD is that it can be in any time period, as long as it pertains to, and continues the story built in black ops. The black ops campaign was the most amazing and enthralling campaign I have ever played, and I really hope it continues.

I like that...8 players maybe? Like you quoted...Switch between Price, etc into Richtofen, etc... Instead...8 players? i know this has been suggested too many time but bigger zombies maps would be awesome...like double call of the dead size LOL....SO EPIC IMO.

Yeah absoutely. That could work all the same. Having 8 players was merely an idea for online. But I like the idea of switching between characters instead even better actually. ;)

I think the game does need a modern-era map with modern guns...Just once...Make it like FIVE was and add it in there just for the fun of it, not because it follows some story-line.

Yeah, in single-player you could switch off, but in multiplayer zombies there should be 8 players.
