Black Ops was a test?

I've heard that Black Ops Zombies mode was a test to see if anyone liked it. If they did, which OBVIOUSLY we did, they would make Black Ops 2 a full zombies game. Anyone hear this also???

The short answer? No.

Activision would never let Treyarch get away with excluding Multiplayer from a CoD. Besides, they would lose hundreds of millions of dollar if they made it zombies only.

Don't get me wrong, here at CoDz we absolutely love our zombies, and I'm sure a lot of us would LOVE to see a zombies-only CoD. But the general public wouldn't like it. CoD just isn't CoD without Multiplayer.

And if anything, the true test to see if people liked zombies was Nacht Der Untoten on Call of Duty 5: World At War, which at the time was only a fun mini game. People fell in love, and the rest is history.

If Treyarch did ever release a zombies-only game, it won't fall under the Call of Duty franchise name.

Impossible for activison allowing treyarch to make fully zombie mode game. There will never be a full zombie game ever.

Without WAW Nazi Zombies there would be no Black Ops Nazi Zombies, the story started in Nacht.

Like all things it changed as it grew.

Look how far we have come.

There WILL be zombies in BO2, mark my words.

A full zombie campaign could work.

Lets see if BO2 will break all the BO & MW3 records.

I can honestly only see zombies getting stronger with the next installment.

Zombies started in WAW, and was HUGE for the time. this was before COD was "Big" but yet the WAW map packs still sold over a million copies, which was HUGE.

Black ops continued zombies, arguably in a diffrent style, but it was not an experiment.

Zombies will continue in BO2, hopefully in an even larger fashion

I have read so many different things i dont know what to believe anymore... I guess we just have to find out when it comes out. I would like more zombies... I personally suck at multiplayer

Personally I loved WaW zombies. It was the test I believe to cater to the less than loving group who didn't play multiplayer? I don't really know. If they don't put it in BO2, I really wouldn't know what to say.

Link or where did you hear this? The devs pretty much said that zombies would return when they stated that Moon was the "season" finale, indicating another future season for zombies...

To the OP what you're saying doesn't make much sense. The zombies mini-game was well established prior to Blops. Unless you're saying that Rez(final) map pack was a test to see if zombies alone would sell(which it did)

If that's the case I agree with you. I'm not one of the guys who say a zombie game can't work, because I know it can.

Think about it...

Call of Duty: Dead ops

Campaign mode 4 player co-op throughout (either serving as background to our crew's story or a sequel/prequel)

The classic survival modes (including all previous maps and new ones)

Spec ops style co-op mission with a zombie twist (I.e. sniper missions, air support, escort etc..)

Multiplayer with a zombie twist (Hellhounds or Monkeys, wunderwaffe, napalm zombies and kabooms for killstreaks. Random zombies roaming around killing both sides. Richtophen/Sam randomly announcing double points for a short time. Really there's a ton they could do with it, and lets face it COD's mp could use some changes to freshen it up)

A zombie map takes a lot of time to make.

I personally would like to see some support beyond 2012/13.

Kinda sucks that the average gamer prefers an old multiplayer experience over a new zombies experience. Zombies is the reason I'm still playing Black ops, and multiplayer has gotten really boring in Mw3. I would love an all zombie campaign and a bunch of new maps and would trade it in for many of my games.

I think that this post was sort of worded wrong. I think what he means is that black ops was a test for new things that people might like. Eg. the tighter maps like shangril-la and the bosses like George Romero, the moon man, the elemental guys on shangril-la, the monkeys that steal perks, the mad scientist on Five and so on. I think that they were tests for the next zombies, but I don't think there will be a zombies only game.

Obviously Rezurrection was THE TEST to see who the zombie community really is.

If there is a hardened with great zombie related incentives they'll have my money thats for sure especially if this is it with BO2.

I've never heard about this, and I doubt that BO2 will be a full zombies game. Obviously Zombies will play a massive part in the game, but just a part. I hope that Treyarch work on making a full Zombies game just for Zombies fanatics like mahself, but until then their plans are just a mystery.
