Hey dude,

Firstly situational awareness is always a must,

By glancing (not staring) use the mini map - even without a UAV you can figure out whereabouts the enemy team is going to be based on your teams location,

Know where YOU are on the map and what possible sight lines lead to you, this will help to look in the right direction whilst mobile,

If want to move from one side of the map to the other - i dont just run gung ho across the map, i like to move from cover to cover checking my sight lines and ADS when you reach choke points.

Always aim from the hip in the direction you are going. When running and gunning if you looking slightly at the floor instead of ahead of you - it takes a split second longer to aim and find your target than if you were already aiming in that general direction.

Use a gun that plays well with the map, Hardhat for example - whilst an AR would perform well on this map - an SMG or Shotty may be preferable due to the small size of the map. However on a map like Liberation an AR or Snipe is a must. You have to think about whether you'll be getting into CQ MR or LR engagements.

Aim from the hip in CQ combat - you fire quicker and you aim faster. Trying to ADS in CQ will end in death 9/10.

Always have a air support class setup.

Never reload whilst running round a corner.

....i could go on - but it takes time and practice to figure out how to play well. And even when you do - you still have games where no matter how you play, what guns/perks you use. You get slaughtered.

Apologies for the wall of text - hope this helps.

Choose weapons depending on your playstyle, for example don't use the AA-12 if you like to stay at the edges of the map.

Dont use the M60 if you like to rush

Don't use the PM-9 if you like to lie down with your scope up looking down a corridor

Don't use the Dragunov if your trying to rush and win a TDM. (Infact, don't use the Dragonuv at all)

These are all awesome tips for people trying to improve their ratios. Couldn't agree more with these. All stuff I would've mentioned as well.

My tip for everyone who struggles is "Know you surroundings" I personally carry around an assault class for medium to large maps, and SMG's for small maps.

Whatever your favorite setup is for weapons and perks is up to you, but when playing, I always pay attention to where the activity is, where I spawned and where I was killed. Check your corners, and for small condensed rooms, have a handy machine pistol would be my tool, you need to be in and out of areas; don't wait too long or just sprint everywhere, move at a steady flowing pace, stop when you need to and try to hold you ground. If you can keep a certain portion of the map to yourself and your team, you have a much better chance at pushing back the enemy team. ;)

Corners, my friend. If your being chased around a corner remember that you pursuer cannot see around it, double back and catch him off guard. Doubling back is a deceptive practice guaranteed to give you an advantage. An opponent sees you going one way and more often than not he will anticipate your movement and go that way. For example you run behind a truck with an enemy coming for you at an angle perpendicular to the trucks broadside. Now I would just blow up the truck but your average player will anticipate your movement and follow you to the front of the truck. You appear from the rear and you have the jump on him. You're being followed through the corridor on Lockdown. You can run its full length and turn around once you get around the corner.

Know the spawn points. I'm not too keen on TDM, maybe it's the same, but when you're playing FFA an enemy will seldom spawn a distance from you. Knowing where the enemy team spawns can help you avoid what may be a barrage of semtex and flashbangs; to avoid that you may want to employ the use of the trophy system, a dandy tool that can take predator missiles, rpgs, special grenades, and conventional grenades out of the sky as well as defend you from stealth bombers.

Another thing to watch out for is the typical camping spots. In MW3 there are nooks and crannies in every part of the map that can foster campers. Don't give them free kills. As has been said, know and check your lines of sight as you move from cover to cover. There just might be an enemy coming down that corridor and he is already in your sights.

Whenever you get shot at and run behind a corner do not go out until you are at full health, I tend to chance it and think I can still take them on when I have a screen covered in red and it NEVER works out, they will automatically get the upper hand on you.

Learn each map and make sure you know where the spawns are and where choke points and hiding places can be found, you should learn the map enough so if you get flashbanged or shot at you can easily slip out of sight.

Think of MW3 as a psychological game. You enemies start away from your team, hear around for gun shots to try and recognize what type of weapon they are using, this'll give you a better understanding of what sort of player they are. Think of what you would do if you were them and think about what you think they're thinking of you :?

If a player runs towards you make sure you use cover to your advantage, also don't think that because you are lying down under a car doesn't mean that they can't see you.

You are more of a target standing still, don't stand still and fire, always keep moving unless you are sure you can kill them, on black ops remember on firing range where you had them targets standing still, that's exactly what you will be to them if you're standing still.

Another tip is to try to find non choke points at the start of the game (when you first spawn) and head into that direction, this way you will not get killed easily, you may even pick off one or two people very easily. Most people tend to go straight forward and try to take on a group of 6 guys, with no chance of winning a gun fight.

Here is my explanation on different playing styles and how to combat them, this will help you plan out games so you know what class to go for.

Rusher- These are people like me who tend to rush with an SMG like the PP90M1 or MP7, we'll take advantage of any situation given to us. We will also try to flank that other team as often as we can, sneaking in behind and getting some easy kills. Slight of Hand is essential for those quick kills & reloading. 2nd & 3rd perks are dependant on your playing style but I tend to go for hardline and Stalker, Stalker will allow you to strafe around the enemy and with an SMG you'll move a lot quicker meaning you could kill them quickly without getting hurt much. The best strike package would be Specialist as you can get all the perks. Although i use support which is great for helping your team, it is also good if you don't tend to get high KD's like i do.

To combat these players you need to be on a lookout and make sure you get the first shot in, they will be able to shoot a lot faster than you can so keep on your toes!!!

Sniper- The traditional sniper is fun to play as on maps like drop zone. These people will hide in a corner of the map or somewhere out of site so they can snipe you, these are very tactical players and will almost always get you killed first time. They will tend to use Blind eye and Assassins so they don't get seen.

This is a very hard type of player to combat as most of the time you have no idea where they are, so listen out for sniper bullets and try to pin point where they are coming from, I would stay away from that area, they will get bored and lose concentration and possibly get themselves killed by trying to move out.

Quickscoper- You love them or you hate em *COUGH* HATE *COUGH*, these use the sniper i said about above and does the exact same just quicker and in daylight (basically the exact opposite), there is really no way to combat these as they can be so dang accurate, they will go for Quickdraw meaning they'll have an advantage over you. SMG's are best against these although using an assault weapon will also help you target them from a distance, you will also have to have a dash of luck on your side and just hope they miss.

Relentless Assault- These will take an assault rifle and go and take the house down, these will get the job done, the weapons are balanced and will get easy kills, these will tend to go for the assault package but they can also go for the specialist package, to combat these players you will need to have a good aim, it really is a battle of the best aim against these guys.

Heavy Mower- I find these people to be rare, they will take to the heavy machine guns and will go out a mow down the other team, they have heavy firepower but are VERY slow, use that to your advantage and walk circles around them (not literally).

Shotgunners- These will use the shotgun to their advantage, they can run around the map getting people killed in one shot, a way to combat these is to kill them from a distance, don't think you can knife them unless they are turned around, because you can't.

BTW If your rushing and doing badly then try using a more laid back approach, possibly using an assault weapon and vice versa, also use the support package if your doing bad. You'll get your killstreaks no matter how many times you die as long as you can have the kills to back it up.

One more thing DO NOT focus on trying to get a MOAB for now focus on getting a good KD, that is what I'm doing on a road to getting a MOAB and have got to a 20 killstreak.

Pick the right class for you and you will be fine. :)

I could go on all night but there is some for now :D Thanks for reading!!! Hope it helps. Ask if you have any question.

One more thing I forgot to mention which has helped me a lot recently, turn aim assist on, whenever you almost feel a pull from your weapon there is an enemy around there. It really does help in close combat situations.

1) First and foremost, learn 2 dropshot. That gets you out of 90% of sticky situations. 5% of said situations would involve being knifed and the other 5% is having an explosive chucked at you.

2) Learn what perk setup works best FOR YOU. That's the key here the perks that work best for yourself. You see countless videos of bosses on youtube that say what perks work good for them. What's good for the goose, isn't good for the gander. I would advise perks such as Assassin-because this perk alone makes almost fully undetectable and I personally use it on all my classes as my first 3 perk setup. I also recommend Stalker for SMGs and Marksman for Assault Rifles, but as I said best for yourself.

3) Run a silencer on any smg/Assault rifle you use. The attachments proficiency allows you to have 2 attachments so really this should be no problem. Attachments like red dot sight serve literally no purpose and only takes up a spot you could be using for something beneficial. I normally run silencer/extended mags on all my guns because I tend to streak a lot and stopping to pick up a new weapon every five seconds is stupid and risky.

4) If you're not good at streaking run support killstreaks.

Not sure if this was mentioned at all or not but it's also very helpful to hold your ground. Any portion of a map that you can stay on top of where they can't get the drop on you is a safe place to be and move as the enemy moves. It's fairly simple to anticipate where the enemies are by spawns, location, action/kills and where your teammates are and how they are spread out.

Chances are, if you've got a few of you all around on area, chances are you're currently in the friendlies current spawn zone, the enemy is going to be near or just opposite of your location. Moving along with the anticipated direction of friendlies and enemies is key to avoid being caught in the crossfire and being jumped from behind or the sides. NEVER dash through the middle or constantly rush blindly, moving steadily is also key to higher killstreaks and better K/D, you can't stay in the same area for too long because people catch on or will directly come back for you. Take out several people and keep moving, watching your sides and keeping in mind location.

Location, location, location. ;)

Use weapons that you are comfortable with. There's no point running with a PPM901 when you don't like the gun. Try a UMP, MP7 or MP5 and see how you handle them comparatively.

I don't play MW3 because the game doesn't feel right to me but I've played multi on CoD since Cod 3. All these guys are spot on, but in those games where you are having trouble getting kills, or people keep taking your kills, go towards where one of your teammates have recently died. Depending on the location, you can try to judge how the enemy will be.

Uncommon area for kills? Probably running towards your spawn or taking a route to a better place

Got a teammate near that one already? Best to leave it alone if they are competent.

Common area for kills? Most likely holding his ground. Depending on the map and player they could be holding it off from the inside by running a route and checking each entry with one of them guarded by a betty/claymore so be careful and wary when entering a building where you know your enemies like to be.

Also use the cutbacks sparingly. I'm always checking for these people who do that and most of the time I'll get them with C4 if they don't have the right perk. You will have to play around with your classes to find which works for you though. On Black Ops I like a Galil + Dual mag with ghost/sleight of hand/tactical mask and C4.
