General Atomics Avenger+ID on other figure

The New update is up, it is this image of a UAV (unmanned air vehicle)

Enhanced image:

After some quick Research over some current drone projects I found that it is the General Atomics 'Avenger' drone. Or Predator C.

Here's a pic of it:

It is a more modern version of the MQ-9 and the MQ-1 drones (Reaper and Predator) and has more advanced electronic and design systems and a also a turbofan engine instead of a turboprop. So this could potentially either be the new reconnaissance killstreak, or an attack one, considering it has an even larger weapons arsenal than the Reaper.

It's first flight was in 2009, and it was introduced in the Navy in 2010.

And since in the Call of Duty Universe we are still using the Predator Drones in a game that's supposed to take place in 2016, I find it highly likely this one takes place even farther in the future.

Either way, having the Avenger as a piece it the game, will be VERY fun. Here's just a brief overview of it's capabilities from Wikipedia:

Data from [8]

General characteristics

Crew: None (UAV)

Length: 41 ft (12 m)

Wingspan: 66 ft (20 m) sweep angle 17°

Powerplant: 1 × Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545B turbojet, 4,119 lbf (18.32 kN) thrust

Performance

Maximum speed: 460 mph; 740 km/h (400 kn)

Endurance: 20 hours with standard fuel

Service ceiling: 60,000 ft (18,288 m) operating altitude

Armament

Internal weapons bay, 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg) capacity. Capable of carrying AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missiles, GBU-24 Paveway III bombs, and GBU-31 and GBU-38 JDAMs. :D

Avionics

Lynx Synthetic Aperture Radar

AESA Wide-area surveillance sensor

NOTE:

Forget what was here before.

I found a new thing linking to DARPA even further. Have a look at what they're doing for helicopter UAVs.

Here's the video with some of the drones in it.

Seems like the one in the picture could be another fellow DARPA concept drone.

AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missiles...

Regards Alpha.

Same kind as a Reaper and Predator drone carry, only this one can carry more.

Sounds like fun

EDIT: Oh, I see you noticed that mastermind who made that statistics chart just AGM-144 missiles (air to ground model 114 missiles), AGM-114 air to surface missiles. Kind of just repeated himself :P :

Yes this had already been solved.

And I think the other object is one of the four rotors in quadrotor.

Must say I hate where this game is going, oh well...

I just didn't like their multiplayer engine for BO but I guess that's just me. This game is turning a bit interesting with the modern things which we haven't seen a modern game from Treyarch so I'm intrigued.

I know he might have just taken them down, but the link posted in the BO2 discussion for the construction of the quadrotor is not working anymore. Does anyone have a copy of the pictures? The update looks a lot like one of them but I can't do a side by side because I can't see the pics....HELP

I just don't want this to turn another modern warfare, I liked the Cold War theme.

But I guess its still too early to judge the game. :)

I don't know it that's the quad rotor, I meant the Quad rotor has thick a thick styrofoam guards and only 2 rotors each. If it is the one in the pic it's very poorly represented. I'm trying to fetch a pic I found last night of some DARPA ones that looked similar.

Take into account the Cold War was about who could build the better weapon and reach the moon. This could be an alternative to our cold war (a warm war) or something caused the technology to advance rabidly - either the americans used the technology they had stolen from Der Riese or the Russians used those boxes we see in NDU loading screen. Who knows? leave nothing to chance with Treyarch. I thought moon was impossible... I was sadly wrong about that.
