They were in africa because Dr. Clarke's brother was hiding in Johannesburg and was going to help Dr. Clarke hide out there with him. Mason went there to kill his brother which set off operation charybdis. Also it was south africa not the cango which is where Kony is supposed to be.

OMG OMG I SAID THIS SAME EXACT THING. When the second video from the second quote came out.. I thought *This sounds exactly like the guy from the kony 2012 video*. I disregarded the idea because i thought it was stupid but OMG i cant believe i disregarded it! anyways good find!
