Shangri La - Located Near or in Mount Baigong?

Hello Codz, thought I'd bring this theory over to the Asylum to develop a fully speculated theory. This theory also has to do with the recent speculations of the "Mountains" on Shangri La. I understand that there are various theories involving Shangri La being located on Mars, but I thought this theory should be shown to you as it fits very well, especially when linking it to the Vrill-Ya. If you are unfamiliar with the mountain speculation, here is the picture of the developers tweeting about the mountains in Shangri La, so the mountains have some obvious relevance to the location and the so called "Best kept secret of Zombies".

So obviously we have some speculation that the Shangri La mountains are involved with some sort of secret involved with the best kept secret of zombies. Now, I did some research, and had found the Baigong Pipes, and saw that there was tons of evidence to support the theory that Shangri La was located on, or near Mount Baigong. Before we look at Mount Baigong, let's look at the Shangri La mountains first;

Now, from the photo we can tell that the mountains are structured with dents of sorts, having sides sticking out more than the other. If looked down upon, from a perfect angle, it would look almost like a wave of sorts. Now, let's look at Mount Baigong;

As you can see, there seem to be the same dents in the mountain and it seems to be structured almost identically towards that of the Shangri La mountains. Also, if you look towards the upper right area of the mountains, the structure seems to have the same indents and physical structure in the top right. The mountains are almost identical to each other. Now, the thing that doubts me is the fact that the color of Mount Baigong is lighter and more faded to the color of the mountains on Shangri La. This arose an idea that maybe Shangri La is in the past, as the color of Mount Baigong is now faded and greyish brown. I'm still developing a theory as towards the time aspect, as this doesn't suit how the radios and Gary fit together, but I have a feeling time travel is indeed involved, as Shangri La can be in the distant past.

The theory doesn't end there, there is still much to elaborate on; one of another major points associated with Mount Baigong and the Baigong Pipes are the fact that there is usually a pyramid associated with the Baigong pipes; the Pyramid is said to be around "160-200 feet high" and wouldn't that be the same height as the pyramid in Shangri La? Also, doesn't it seem peculiar to the fact there just happens to be a pyramid associated with a mountain that looks nearly identical to that of Shangri La? Let's take an estimate and say that this is around 160-200 feet or in between that. Doesn't it make sense that the two pyramids are very similar in height?

There is still more to support this theory, especially since Mount Baigong is considered a OOP Artifact. There are structures in Mount Baigong that seem to be created by past civilizations. (Vrill-ya?) There are structures in the mountain that seem to resemble Shangri La in many ways. For one there are openings almost like pipe systems where water is used to navigate. Here is an example from Mount Baigong;

Look familiar? Doesn't it look quite similar to the water slide in Shangri La? This is where the time period seems to integrate with the map. In the present picture we can see that the water slide is dried out, and this can once be integrated with the time travel aspect, that Shangri La is indeed in the past. If the water slides were running in the past, they would have dried out by now, right? The idea that there was some past civilization had constructed these waterways and water systems, seems to have to deal with the Vrill-Ya and there involvement in the Zombies storyline. The residents of the Mount Baigong areas seem to have superstitious thoughts about the pipes;

The residents credit aliens for their construction, and even have legends of extraterrestrial visitors to Mt. Baigong.

By aliens do they mean the Vrill-Ya? Also, let's look at the location of the baigong pipes and Mount Baigong;

They are located in the "Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, China." As you can see, in the Tibetan Autonomous prefacture.

Coincidence that the Vril power generator was originally used in Tibet by Tibetan monks for energy enhancement?

The Tibetan Shaman Vril Power Generator™ is an immensely powerful metaphysical tool hand crafted in the traditional way by Tibetan monks using specialist metals selected for their energy enhancement properties to produce a personal energy tool of unique physical and metaphysical effects.

Also, there is much to associate with Extra terrestrial visitors, that have to do with the Baigong Pipes and Mount Baigong. As said before, the residents of the Baigong area have said that Aliens were the credit behind the pipes and it's doings. In 1938(Start of WWII which also can raise some questions) Chi Pu Tei a Chinese scientist, lead an expedition of some 9 men to explore the mountain range. There, they found Dropa stones. What are dropa stones?

The Dropa stones, otherwise known as the Dzopa stones, Dropas stones or Drop-ka stones, are said by some ufologists and pseudoarchaeologists to be a series of at least 716 circular stone discs, dating back 12,000 years, on which tiny hieroglyph-like markings may be found.[1][2] Each disc is claimed to measure up to 1 foot (30 cm) in diameter and carry two grooves, originating from a hole in their center, in the form of a double spiral.[3] The hieroglyph-like markings are said to be found in these grooves.

The Dropa stones were first mentioned in 1960 in the Russian newspaper Literaturnaya Gazeta and then reprinted in the "Current Digest of the Russian Press", a Russian language magazine published in America. This said that caves near the Himalayan mountains close to the Chinese-Tibetan border in January 1938 had been investigated by Chinese archaeologist Chi Pu Tei from Beijing University. These caves were said to contain the graves of tiny beings (about a meter tall) with elongated heads, and cave drawings of these people and the sun, moon and stars. Also found was a 300mm diameter stone disk with a double spiral from a hole in the centre to the rim - 716 more disks were later reportedly found.[4]

Dropa stones were found in the Baigong mountains. They are said to be around a foot tall. Here is a picture of a dropa stone found on Shangri la;

Also, a very similar stone is found on Moon, which can also support the theory that Shangri La was somehow transported to Moon. This is in the biodome;

What do you guys think about this? Do you guys have anything to support this or prove it wrong? Any feedback is appreciated :)

I feel like we've finally struck gold with this theory. It's rational, it's fitting, there's a gold mine of evidence, and I see nothing that could possibly prove it wrong.

I do think you're right about it taking place in the past. Think about it this way:

Sometime in the present day (2000's) Gary and Brock are exploring the jungle and find the temple. It looks much like Mount Baigong does now (faded colors, water slide dried up, etc.) Then, however, they find the device that sends them to a distant past during an eclipse, where there are zombies. They get trapped in the structure and die (before the Easter Egg is performed of course).

Sometime not too long after that (within a few years, before the temple would have much time to change) the original crew arrives. They would still get there after Brock and Gary, but still far enough in the past for the mountain to not look like a giant dead rock.

Very sound theory, good sir. I think we've found our winner! [brains]

EDIT: Gave some brains too recently, but I will give you some as soon as I can!

EXCELLENT post here John! Well thought out, well supported, well researched. I've seen you're name coming up in the story discussion lately, and this just supports the fact you know what you're doing. Keep it up John, I see big things coming from you!

Of all the possible locations I've heard for Shangri-La recently, this one probably has the most potential thus far. It's circumstantial evidence, but it's pretty strong, and there's quite a few connections:

The more reasearch I'm doing on this Mt. Baigong and the Dropa stones, the more connections I'm beginning to find as well.

"One of the news stories finding its way across the World Wide Web of late is about a team of Chinese scientists travelling to the remote western province of Qinghai to investigate reports of a mystery pyramid that local legend claims is an ancient launch tower left by aliens.

According to the story released by China's state-run Xinhua agency, the mystery pyramid is located on Mt. Baigong in an extremely harsh and uninhabited part of the world. Those who have seen it say there are three caves with triangular openings on the façade. The structure is filled with red-hued pipes leading into the mountain and a nearby salt water lake. Rusty iron scraps, pipes and strange shaped stones can be found scattered around in the area.

That the government of China would permit a public news statement about a scientific investigation of a possible alien/UFO landing-site suggests that the Communist Chinese government is relaxed about public consideration of alien life.

Rumours of clandestine meetings by military personnel and alien visitors in the church-oriented United States (and various other countries of the world) have always been denied in official circles. President George W. Bush recently extended the "top secret" status of Nevada's controversial Area 51 site where rumour has it that crashed alien craft are brought, reassembled and even test flown.

China's old bamboo curtain served for years to help make the politics and culture of that nation an enigma to the rest of the world. Yet there have been some surprising stories seeping out of the shadows about a history of possible UFO and alien encounters. There is a story, for example, about an archaeologist named Chi Pu Tei, who in 1938 discovered a strange alignment of graves in the Baian Kara Ula Mountains, near the Sino-Tibetan border. In the graves were small, frail skeletal remains of beings that had unusually large skulls. Nearby were found cave drawings of these beings wearing helmets. In 1962 researchers found the first of 716 record-like Stone disks with tiny markings on them that appeared to be writing.

The stones were very hard, made of granite and concentrations of cobalt and other metals. The inscriptions were so tiny it required a magnifying glass to examine them."

     I'm not too sure how far in the past Shangri La actually is, but if we do travel pack to a far away past during the eclipse, and the water is still there after the eclipse is over, then the water must not just dry out over time. That, or when we travel back in time during the eclipse, we don't go that far into the past, and the water is still there. I believe there might be another explanation for the water:

Near the foot of Mt. Baigong is Toson Lake. Within Tolson Lake lies three caves, the largest and most accessible some eight meters high by six meters deep. Inside, spanning from the roof to the back end of the cave, runs a pipe 40 cm in diameter. Another one roughly the same size runs into the earth from the floor, with just the top protruding.

Additional Baigong Pipes were found on shore and within Toson Lake, which lies 80 m (260 ft) from the mouth of the largest cave. On the beach of Lake Toson, about 40 m (130 ft) from the mouth of the largest cave, apparently flat-lying, hollow, pipe-like features were found. These reddish-brown pipe-like features range in diameter from 2 to 4.5 cm (0.8 to 1.8 inch) and have an east-west orientation. Another group of pipe-like features, presumably vertical, either protrude from or lie just below the surface of the lake.

Associated with these pipe-like features are "rusty scraps" and "strangely shaped stones". Analysis of the "rusty scraps" by Liu Shaolin at a local smelters reportedly found that they consist of 30 percent ferric oxide and large amounts of silicon dioxide and calcium oxide (1)(2). Many other iron pipes can be found scattered on sands and rocks. They run in an east-west direction with a diameter between 2 and 4.5 centimetres. They are of various strange shapes and the thinnest is like a toothpick, but not blocked inside after years of sand movement. Stranger still is that there are also some pipes in the lake, some reaching above water surface and some buried below, with similar shapes and thickness with those on the beach.

     Back to the eclipse though, they could be going back to ANY point in time. Since Brock and Gary go back to an unknown point in time at the start of the first radio during an eclipse, and we are going back to the same point in time as them during the eclipse, the date of the eclipse could be anyone's guess. I hope that made sense? Basically, it's just too hard to tell exactly how far back in time we go.

     Overall, you've made some really great connections, and alot of this stuff does make sense. Again I will stress that it is circumstantial. But with what Tryearch's giving us, that's about all we got. So far there's been circumstantial evidence to support theories that Shangri-La is located in: Tibet (Mt. Baigong), Mars, The Arctic, Antarctica, The Moon, Near Area 51. Of all these, this thread seems to have the most supporting evidence.

[tab][/tab]Anywho, really great stuff here John. I'm really hoping this thread gets some attention that it rightly deserves. Oh, and sorry it took me so long to respond to this.

Thanks Shooter, it really means a lot :) I looked more into the Toson Lake, and found some more interesting aspects in Shangri La that could definitely correlate with the Lake, and also associate with the water flow in Shangri La. Here is a picture outside of the map, just outside the somewhat pond where the mystery box is located on the side by the MP5k. The pond empties out into somewhat of a stream, or water flow, that travels and leads towards the mountain. Here is a picture of the water flow;

Although you can continue the water flow, the map will cut off. This is simply because it is very far out of the map, and wasn't developed, but if the flow were to continue on, it were to lead just about inside of the mountain. Here is an image of the water flow, just before the map cuts off. As you can see, if continued, the flow would lead almost directly into the mountain;

This could sincerely support the idea that the pipes emptied out water supplies through the pipes, and through this water flow, they could be carried towards Shangri La. Also, this is taken out of a news article reporting the mystery of the Baigong Pipes, and samples were taken from the pipes. The data showed that if they were iron pipes that were smelted, they would have been formed over 100,000 years ago. Seems very plausible as towards a Zombies type of theme, no?

scientists from the China Seismological Bureau visited the lake in 2001 to examine the pipes. Samples brought back to the Beijing Institute of Geology were examined by thermoluminescence dating, a technique that can determine how long it's been since a crystalline mineral was either heated or exposed to sunlight. The result came back that if these were indeed iron pipes that had been smelted, they were made 140-150,000 years ago. Human history in the region only goes back some 30,000 years, and so the alien theory seemed to have been confirmed. The following year the Xinhua news story was published, and the Baigong Pipes entered pop culture as, supposedly, genuine, tangible evidence of alien visitation.

I'll look into more information about the time travel, as this seems to be the most intricate part of the whole theory, but very nice work on that :) I looked more into the idea of the gongs on Shangri La being associated with Tibet, and found from the forums that on the Gongs of Shangri La, there is writing that says "Beware the Wrath of the Dragon's Fire". I looked more into this and found that one of the symbols of Tibetan Buddhism (Also The Tibetan Buddhists are the ones who use Vrill) is a dragon. Now, I also found that along with the idea that the dragon being a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism, the beliefs that associate with dragons in Tibetan Buddhism seem to be linked with the Gongs in Shangri La;

The Dragon thunders in the sky with the sound of compassion that awakens us from delusion and increases what we can know through hearing. Dragons have the power of complete communication. Just as we do not see sound, we do not see dragons

Isn't it in Shangri La the gongs create a powerful, thundering sound when you knife it in the correct order? (In the easter egg there is a step where you must knife the gongs in the correct order, or you cannot complete the easter egg) Also, this might be a long shot, but "awakens us from delusion, increases what we know through hearing" and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Takeo seem to start remembering what Group 935 has done to him in Shangri La? Do the gongs have some affect on Takeo, and his memory?
