The 4 "new" characters in 8 player Zombies

Hey guys, this is only my first post on the site but I've always been interested in the zombies storyline since World at War so I like to think I have a good idea of whats going on.

Anyway, on topic, with zombies moving to an 8 player mode in Black Ops 2 there is the obvious need to add 4 more characters to aid our usual heroes. A lot of people feel we will join forces with the characters of Five, COTD, or even 4 entirely new characters. However, I believe that the 4 characters we will fight with in Black Ops 2 are none other than Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo and Richtofen.

While this might sound a bit out there at first it makes a lot of sense with a bit of explaining. With Richtofen now in the MPD and having launched the rockets at Earth we will find ourselves trying to undo this damage as the story progresses. This is where the idea of multiple dimensions referenced throughout the storyline come into play. Our heroes will crossover to another dimension in which Richtofen has not yet achieved his evil goal and bring the alternate group back to our dimension, resulting in them fighting alongside themselves (8 Players). With Sam in control of Richtofens body from our dimension this should make for a lot of interesting dialogue as each member of the group, as well as Sam, must keep the alternate dimensions Richtofen alive despite their knowledge of his manipulation and their hatred for him as only he can undo the damage that has been caused.

Please feel free to add to this, point out any holes and let me know what you think.

Honestly, this IS quite reasonable. It would be great to hear the crew talking to themselves from another dimension. I am a little confused though. Is the last bit a game mode? If so it would be decent, but one team would be protecting Sam not Rictofen.

No this wouldn't make sense.

Then all the crew would have to do is kill alternate dimension (not sam possessed) richtofen and thus prevent him from destroying the earth. There would be no need to fight alongside them am I wrong? :|

Sorry, bad phrasing on my part, I don't mean it as a seperate game mode, although it is possible, I'm talking about the standard survival game we're used to only now with 8 players working together instead of the usual 4. We would not actually have to keep Richtofen alive but in terms of the story the reason we cannot simply kill Richtofen from the alternate dimension is because he is the only one who knows how to stop Richtofen from our dimension. As a result we are forced to partner up with Richtofen in the game purely because we have to in order to put a stop to our dimensions Richtofen. This means the 8 man team would be Dempsey x2, Takeo x2, Nikolai x2, Sam and Richtofen.

Correct BUT that would only prevent Richtofen from entering the MPD in that dimension. The damage has already been done in our dimension. This is why I feel the group we controlled in Moon will travel to this second dimension to find their alternate selves, and Richtofen, so that they can then travel back into their own dimension and with the aid of the alternate dimensions group defeat our dimensions Richtofen.... Setting the world record for the use of the word dimension here

this a a pretty fucking awesome theory. Awesome but unlikely for all the zombie maps in Blops 2. i could understand if it was for the last map in Blops 2, that would be the best shit ever. :D BTW what do you think the DLC zombie map is going to be, i know the game hasnt come out yet but i like to start early

I thought the regular survival mode was still only 4 players?

It is, and my belief is that even if they do an 8-player survival mode, it'll be random soldiers (like in multiplayer) and won't even tie in to the storyline. Still, I think this would be freakin epic

This is a cool idea, but you've overcomplicated it I think. There's no need to add in the controversial and convoluted idea of multiple dimensions. But you can achieve the same thing by just using the already established time travel.

Tank, Nikolai, Takeo, and Samantha could go back in time to try to stop Richtofen. No, there'd be no paradox because you're creating a whole new timeline. However, Richtofen would not comply. He would still try to accomplish his goals. So the whole point would be that you were chasing and following Richtofen's new path. His new path would be the destruction left behind him as he tries to achieve his goal a different way.

So the 8 characters would be Tank 2, Nikolai 2, Takeo 2, Samantha, Tank, Nikolai, Takeo, and that 8th new character we saw on the poster that they'd pick up along the way.

I think it is amusing, but I don't think it likely. You could go the alternate dimension route to keep Richtofen in the party, but then we might as well just go to the alternate dimension made of candy. Because with alternate dimensions, anything that can be IS.

Time travel rather than dimensions was actually my original idea, the problem was it just seemed too easy to find faults with. For example, if we were to travel back in time to stop Richtofen why would Richtofen simply not have travelled back in time to stop Samantha from ever entering the pyramid. Also I'm not 100% sure on the dates each map is set in but if any of the maps are set before the time Sam entered the device, and we still hear and see that she controls the zombies, then we can say that no matter what time period we travel to, that whoever was in the pyramid still controls the zombies. I may be wrong but is Richtofen now in aether after switching places with Sam, and is aether not a different dimension itself? If so then time travel would be useless in stopping him.

Anyway, with what the others have stated, such as survival mode sticking to 4 player, this suggestion seems to be blown out of the water. Would be interesting to see how it would play out but I'm sure Treyarch have something brilliant planned for us

Edit: Just wanted to point out the reason I brought the idea of dimensions into this is because it is already established in game just like time travel, it's referenced within the game, an example being when Richtofen says something along the lines of "Nothing happened... At least not in this dimension anyway"

OK look. When I was replying, I thought this was just to explain 4 possible new characters. I never thought this would blow up into an ordeal about paradoxes. I think what the OP said would be a great side theory on how we ended up with eight characters. I would rather have two different demensions of the original crew than some kind of bull crap theory about why these four new characters are important. I agree the actual survival story-line SHOULD consist of new characters at times, but I would much rather OP's theory for 4z4.

I could imagine a new mode called VIP or something where whoever is Sam or old Rictofen is to be escorted.

I suppose you're right. Time travel does complicate things. But I just don't see Treyarch implementing the idea of alternate dimensions. We have the one, Aether, but that's it. *shrug*

By the way, Aether's existence is the proof of establishment of alternate dimensions, not Richtofen's quote. You have to take quotes with a grain of salt. He was merely referencing the idea of alternate dimensions, adding to his cryptic personality, kinda like when he was joking about the Antikythera Mechanism.
